@Fellow VictimsHouse Colours: SlytherinPiérre's casting, as it tended to be, was just fine. It had been his aim that had been off, and somehow that viscera-like slug-thing had been deft enough to evade just about every attack that he and the others had made to help the dressed up girl. Okay, so evidently this wasn't a Bridezilla case... but if it wasn't... then...
"What... in the world is that thing...?" He whispered to himself in wonder, green eyes widening and dancing over the thing that looked both natural and unnatural (Attempts to use 'Keen Eye' to observe it). Figaro, despite brave attempts to make his own strikes land on the thing, continued to bob and weave away from strikes and attempted blows, and if anything, those who made physical attacks against it seemed to only be hurt more by their attempts than helping. Such was the case with the sturdy looking boy who was trying to help the girl by attempting to yank the slug off of her. Moving just close enough to the battlezone to keep an eye on this red, slimy target, yet far enough on the outskirts to avoid drawing its ire, the boy tipped his head in curiosity, the yew wand held like a conductor's baton between nimble fingers.
At his side in this unexpected encounter... @Evelynn Decipio... his former Quidditch captain. Piérre dared not even look remotely in her direction, lest he be forced to explain his sudden dropping of the Quidditch sport the fall of last year. It wasn't time to dredge up things like that... not yet.
And especially not with a new development of the dark magic that had an unfortunate habit of surging through the arteries of this school on a daily basis. Instead, the boy tried to recall everything that he had heard about similar attacks to these... tales of spiders and inky monsters that lived in the shadows. So many words and rumors of hags and deviltry involving dark magic and rituals considered obscene to a normally sane person. The curse of the Slytherin house... Fires in common rooms... darkness in the dungeons...
Wasn't... light the counter to it, if he remembered correctly? And not just light... but fire.
Piérre bit his lip. He would have to cast an unrestrained fire spell, wouldn't he? Risking the chance of burning the girl... but maybe being able to ward off or disable the thing attacking her just long enough to... well... seal it up and maybe study it for later...?
He wasn't the brightest bulb on the tree... but it could not be said that he was not curious. He liked collecting things... especially strange and shiny things. This... slug... thing... fell under the strange category, right?
If he was going to burn this thing into a cinder, though, he may as well try to give others around him proper warning. He couldn't be accidentally lighting people other than his target on fire. "Imma try 'n burn it!" He said with almost a calm Italian drawl to his words. Panic would get them nowhere, even despite the fear trembling in his chest. "If anyone gets lit on fire, I'm sorry in advance. Incendio Duo!" He incanted smoothly, ensuring that he had the best shot as he could possibly get with all the chaos around him at the main, bloody, perpetrator.Allies: All except Hag SlugAction: Cast Incendio (Duo) on Hag Slug

How was it possible that a slug could be so difficult to narrow down? Twice now, Evelynn's spells had missed her target, left to ricochet harmlessly off the walls and floor behind it. She supposed she should feel some measure of relief that she hadn't accidently hit poor Anderson to whom the slug had been adhered, but anxious desperation was beginning to rise within her. Already blood pounded uncomfortably in her ear, mind reeling with the incessant warnings that if something wasn't done—and soon—that there was very real risk of life and limb.
She was already in the midst of casting again, shouting, "Ventus!", when she heard the chant of an Fire-Making Spell. Wide-eyed, Evelynn snapped her head around to the voice and spotted Piérre. Leave it to their chaotic mouse to employ such a reckless tactic. "Piérre!" Evelynn cried, aghast. Already, images of the Blossom Ball sprung to mind, of figures enveloped in flames, shrieks echoing through the back of her mind as pain wracked their bodies. Fingers clutched reflexively around the handle of her wand, knuckles whitening. "You will set them all ablaze! No fire! What are you thinking?!" And just as swiftly, her gaze would snap back to the abomination of grappled figures, to the slug adhered to Anderson and Flash as he tried to wrestle it free, the extinguishing spell already forming on her tongue.ACTION: Casting Wind Jinx @ Hag Slug

Despite the entire situation, Percival Gray's comment about never having been so happy to see him earned a laugh from Jack. "Have you ever been happy to see me, period?" he couldn't help teasing, even as he continued to struggle with helping to move his dormmate. Gray told him to put him against the wall before going back to help the others and Jack obliged, surprised to see his peer pull out his own wand. Even in his exhausted, traumatized state, despite his visible shaking, it seemed he was still intent on aiding the others in their fight against the hag slug. Jack was impressed.
"Don't overdo it, Gray. Take it easy," he warned, turning back once he had successfully propped Gray up against a wall. Then he retrieved his magical stick of mayhaw wood and snallygaster heartstring before returning to the fray. Though Gray seemed to be out of harm's way for the most part, now they had Flash and Willow to worry about. Jack didn't want to accidentally hurt them, but there were a few spells he could think of that he thought might trap or at least reduce the hag slug's accuracy against its target without causing major damage to said targets.
Galton seemed to have the right idea with Relashio and Evelynn's Wind Jinx as well as Gray's Flipendo also seemed like good choices. Pierre chose the route of green sparks while his cat, Figaro, fought with his natural weapons of teeth and claws. However, all of their attacks still failed to hit. They needed to get lucky and fast.
Jack may not have been a duelist like some of the others were, but he wasn't a prodigal charms learner who taught himself spells for nothing. He was confident in attacking without harming Willow or Flash but if they didn't have a plan, could they all trust each other to use spells in the victims' best interests? Pierre seemed to throw caution to the wind as he apologized preemptively and cast Incendio Duo which caused Jack's heart to leap into his mouth. What if the fire burned the students and not the slug?
Evelynn seemed equally alarmed by the decision her fellow Gryffindor had made and said as much. She then used Ventus which Jack also thought might have been the best spell to use just then. If anyone did get set on fire, it could have been put out by the Wind Jinx. So he decided to attempt the jinx himself as well.
"Ventus," he cried, making the appropriate accompanying wand movement to complete the spell.

Galton wasn't used to missing. To miss twice in a row stung his ego in such a way that he would not soon recover from. He would need to put in many, many more hours because of this. And of all situations for this to happen! Bad timing for his skills to give out to say the least. In a duel it would be terrible, but against one of those foul creatures? Awful. He needed to consider his next move very carefully. Another miss may spell certain doom for the troubled party. Would his aim be able to pin the slippery slug this time?
Why even aim at all? He had other spells in his spell book, stuff that had a much higher chance of succeeding with. And the slug appeared to be doing a nasty number on its captive. The bites looked to be of some nasty sort - looked like a few could put even the toughest to sleep. Healing was then the best course of action. No aiming, and keep someone from death! Why hadn't Galton thought of this sooner?
"Hold on, stay with us! This should make you feel a tad better." He shouted while he raised his wand to cast. "Reparifors!"

"You'd be surprised..." he said through gritted teeth as Jack dragged him over to the wall to lean up against. He didn't want him to babysit him while the others were fighting, they needed his help more than he did. For once, he even seemed to show a bit of care for him "No chance Jack, give me some time and I'll be back" Gray grunted now, motioning a hand to send him back to help the others.
Pulling out his wand he fired a spell at the slug. Somehow, the creature managed to slide away from it and wrap itself around poor Willow "Slugs are such a pain in the ass" he groaned to himself as he began using the wall to get up. His body was tired and aching all over from the slug leaving his body. Even so, his mind somewhat felt clear and free from its judgment. For the first time in a while, Gray felt like himself again.
Percival pushed himself away from the wall and limped towards the creature head on, and once at a close enough distance, he pointed his wand at the slug with determination.
"Immobolus!"

Flash would not be paying much, or really any attention to the yells and spells of the growing group around them. Some of the students became frozen and inactive, some of them tried desperately to help but would find their magic or aim failing them against this shockingly evasive foe. It wouldn't break the concentration Flash had on the only thing that mattered-- getting Willow away and safe. He had managed to take one hit for her, but that would be little more than a temporary relief rom the onslaught. Next, he would try to help pry the disgusting thing off of her.
As distressed as he was, the adrenaline had an opposite effect on his strength when compared to his magic. Instead of shaking and failing, he felt a swelling of strength in both of them as they managed to work together to rip it off and create some distance between her and it. He was relieved it worked, but Willow looked far worse for the wear, and he wasn't exactly feeling peachy himself. With labored breath and a thin layer of sweat accumulating on his brow, the minor success would need to serve as momentum to change focus to the real threat, because as clse as he was to the wretched thing, he could intuit its mission. It wanted to inhabit Willow, and it would continue to fight all of them until it managed to do so. They had to kill it.

@Fellow VictimsHouse Colours: SlytherinThis time around, the boy had more luck, his spell firing off without a hitch. Before releasing it entirely, though, drawing out the incantation for as long as possible, the boy tried to spot a pattern in its movement, almost as if the former Keeper were trying to spot the movements of a snitch in the air. The thing was fast; far too fast... but...
Ah-ha!
With a flick of his wand, an empowered fire spell blazed through the air, squarely hitting the thing despite the commotion of limbs and bodies all crammed around the area that Piérre had been aiming. The thing went up in flames though, as the boy reflected, it didn't like it was going to stay that way for very long. The boy who had been throwing up slugs initially (was that where this nasty red thing had come from?) managed to land a well-placed freezing charm at the slug's expense, causing it to slow down incredibly and become extremely immobile for what appeared to be just long enough to make a significant hit count.
Green eyes continued to flick back and forth, recalling information, trying to formulate a significan strategy that would produce as desirable a result as possible. These shadow things... things that he had heard of in halls... didn't like light. If they didn't like light...
Then surely they would hate the very light of the sun, right?
Hissing through his teeth, the boy tried to quell the pounding of his heart and narrowed his eyes, trying to line up his shot. It was supposed to be an easy shot, but that didn't mean that there wasn't a chance that he could really mess this up if he wasn't careful. Already his hand was shaking, and his shoulders were rising and falling with the force of his shallow, quick breaths and causing his sightline to waver vertically at a haphazard fashion. He adjusted his grip, holding out his left arm at full extension with the 10 and one quarter inch yew and snallygaster heartstring wand as if he were pointing towards his target with an index finger. His right hand was clenched at his side, sweating intensely as he bared his teeth with concentration. He flexed his fingers.
He had an idea.
Is it a good idea?
'I have an idea.'
"YOU WANT HER SO BAD?! NOT WITH THAT SUNBURNED COMPLEXION YOU WON'T!" The boy roared, suddenly dashing in (why yes, Leroy Jenkins style) and flourishing his wand with an incantation of "Lumos solem!"
If the boy had any luck at all whatsoever, hopefully the spell would not only go off, but with his momentum towards the frozen slug (with Figaro yowling as the bengal himself lined up for another pair of strikes) now torn away from the girl that it had initially been attacking, Piérre would attempt to use his entire 105 pounds of body weight to stab the slimy red critter with the tip of aforementioned sunlight-lit wand, aiming for the head and attempting to "pin" it to the ground. He was going to char that red thing into nonexistence with the very light of the sun. When Percival shot his spell at the slug he wasn't expecting anything from it, but to his surprise, he managed to freeze the slug in place with a nicely placed spell to its body. Gray managed to release a pained grin from his achievement and move closer to the slug stuck in place "Everyone, quickly! give it everything you have!" he shouted as he looked around at the others who were struggling with him.
The one he was most worried about was Willow, who had been wrapped up in the grasp of the slug and squeezed. Others were also hurt by the slugs attacks, some more than most. Gray himself was still also feeling the effects still, to the point where he didn't know how long he was going to last at this stage. Fortunately, they had a chance to end it all here.
Lifting his wand once more, he flicked it straight at the sitting slug to fire a spell that would surely leave a burn "Incedio!" he shouted with a grunt. If they all did it at once they were sure to wear down the slugs tough skin more and more.
"Keep firing! it can't withstand everything!"

It was interesting, really, how many people Willow had ended up surrounded by.
Flash wasn't a surprise. There was something in her that told her that even if they were thousands of miles apart, if she screamed he would find himself next to her within a moment's notice. Galton wasn't surprising just by virtue of him being a duellist, and the kind of person she saw him to be. If there was someone in trouble that he could cast spells at he was going to be in. Evelynn seemed like the noble sort. Honestly, she didn't know much about the Gryffindor but she was grateful for her in this moment. There was another boy she didn't really know, Pierre, but she took some solace knowing that his cat was fighting for her too. Jack Burnett was interesting. Though they weren't enemies they weren't... friends. He hated having friends. Even though Willow thought he definitely needed some.
A group of friend(s?) to absolute strangers. Attempting to save her. Or save themselves from another hag. Willow couldn't really be sure and taking a poll wasn't exactly a viable option for the time being. Perhaps after when she was laid out in the Hospital Wing. Her voice was strained with grunts of attempted escape and sighs of pain. Pleads with her Goddess spoken under her breath in any attempt to stave off becoming an ugly hag. There were a couple of pleads directly to Flash thrown in there as well. As if he could do more than he was already doing.

Mr. Wand made Galton’s magical career an absolute nightmare. The sentient piece of wood could, at best, be described as temperamental. It had a hunger for all things flashy and powerful, and felt no remorse in punishing its owner when it deemed a move anything less. This seemed to be one of those situations.
No one would be feeling better after his cast - no - he would actually feel worse after muttering the words. Mr. Wand was telling him that he could not get out of a bruised ego the easy way. There were no shortcuts to magical greatness, or at least whatever Mr. Wand classified as greatness. Galton now knew to keep healing off of that list. Time to plead with Mr. Wand, and go on the offensive once again.
Familiar apologies flowed forth to Mr. Wand in his head. All the while he would raise his wand once more. This thing was going to feel Galton's magical touch this time. Besides Willow's health and safety to be concerned about, Mr. Wand may murder Galton if he didn't land this. He glanced around to the eclectic group of slug slayers. "Let's try one more time." He muttered.
His wand came up, and words came out "Petrificus Totalus!"
