A Strange Sign
Cordelia had been looking at the same strange sign ever since she was sorted into Ravenclaw. Not long ago, she had gotten a letter from her mother, who always loved showing her daughter interesting stuff. The sign was printed onto an old dusty book and Cordelia was 99 percent sure this book had something to do with magic. Of course she couldn't be sure but if there was one thing Cordelia wasn't, it was a quitter. She flipped through the pages, sitting crossed legged across from the lake, the silently muttered under her breath. Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye Cordelia spotted a fallen pine tree. She ran over to it, almost tripping over her own feet. Next, she took a small branch off and started making a pile, then she threw the book aside and looked closely at the sign on the front cover. Now she knew what it meant. Phoenix! She threw her arms up in delight and n her happiness also did a little dance. Her beautiful dirty blonde flickered in the wind as she did so, but eventually she decided to calm down. As she sat down, she couldn't help noticing how unmature she was being , but of course, she didn't care.

A Strange Sign
Violet decided to discover Hogwarts surroundings a bit. She wanted to discover the outside first because she thought she would be lost in the castle inside easier because of so many stairs, hallways and rooms. On the other hand, she thought if she just discovered the grounds outside, at least she could see the big Hogwarts castle and easily find her way back.
In fact, she wanted to be alone for a while and just think about this new adventure as a first year student in this future 7-year lasting adventure, with the unknown. She was thinking about how her family will react to her being sorted into Slytherin and what will happen in the next 7 years in general. She was especially wondering about her fathers reaction, since he was the magical one and was not even a Slytherin himself. She didn’t really know what to expect, she decided she would owl her parents about all of this soon.
She wanted to see the great lake she had heard about, maybe she could sit there and relax. She also wondered if students ever swim in there and if it was dangerous or not. Could there be any dangerous creatures in there? 'It is likely' she thought, while remembering the sea creatures in her common room.
When she arrived at the great lake, she figured she wasn't the only one who wanted to be here. She saw a thin, slightly tall girl with dirty blonde hair. She was doing a little dance. Violed smiled slightly, she looked like she was having fun. Dancing girl sat down and Violet decided to just go ahead and talk to her. She walked towards her and sat next to her, although with a bit of distance. "Hello, i am Violet" she waved, smiled and introduced herself.”What brings you here? And what's your name?"

A Strange Sign
She didn't mean to startle the blonde girl but she did. That was when Violet realized her colored robes, blue and bronze, she must be a ravenclaw then. She looked like a first year student here too but Violet didn't bother to ask her about it for now.
"Oh! Hey!" Blonde put out her hand eagerly and introduced herself. "I am Cordelia, and what brings you here?"
Cordelia seemed friendly enough, reflecting the question back to Violet. Red hair then wondered if what that girl was doing was supposed to be a secret thing. Violet put out her hand too and shook their hands together. "Nice to meet you" she replied with a small smile. "I was just hanging around, discovering this place because I was just curious and that's all" She shrugged. "Then I saw you and thought maybe it would be a good idea to make a new friend." She answered honestly, hoping she would gain a new and good friend here indeed. Cordelia continued her speech and kinda answered red hair’s question about what she was doing around the great lake here..
"Anyway, I was wondering if you know any useful phoenix books. I'd go to library cards, but unfortunately I may have borrowed a couple too many.."
Cordelia was talking fast, leaving Violet a bit confused. "Phoenix books? What do you need them for?" She said with a questioning look, instinctually scratching the back of her head. Besides her questions she felt intrigued by the blonde's quest. "I do like phoenixes!" She said in a slightly more excited tone,only to realize that that did not answer Cordelia's question. "Oh, um,oh no i'm not really so knowledgeable about that" She remembered something and continued to talk to the blonde "Have you checked the Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them book? I heard it was written by a known successful magizoologist. Maybe it can help you. Oh, and I also do not think too many books to learn about phoenixes is necessarily bad, you know? You can learn multiple things with all of them maybe"
She would ask why she was dancing later.
