HISTORY
└──────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
Many children go through obstinate, difficult, and rebellious phases. Oliver Wilde went through all three. The main difference between Oliver and other children, however, was that he never quite seemed to grow out of it.
Born in a wizarding community in London, Olly didn’t have much exposure to muggle culture. Neither of his parents particularly liked fraternising with muggles, and they supposed it would probably be better for their son to be shielded from that aspect of the city that they lived in.
Serena Wilde (Olivers mother) had been the prima ballerina for a touring company for a period, but her career was cut short after an argument with a fellow dancer which resulted in an incident that broke the statute of secrecy. The ministry was quickly summoned to obliviate those involved.
Oliver’s father, Emilio, had been an unspeakable for the Love department in the ministry of magic. He happened to be working late one night as Serena was being let go by the ministry and was instantly besotted with her- a fact he would show only in clandestine ways. Emilio continued to work at the ministry throughout his sons childhood, only handing in his notice to become a purveyor of magical artefacts after the start of their divorce.
When Oliver began developing signs of wizarding ability, the two parents began discussing educational options. Up until the age of 11, Serena had homeschooled their child on the Wizarding World and the common knowledge that most Wizarding children ought to know. Additionally, They would often visit Emilio’s brother’s farm to teach Oliver about various aspects of the magical natural world that Olly wouldn’t have learned about growing up in the city. When it came to schooling institutions, Hogwarts seemed like the obvious choice given their location. Given their son’s penchant for rebellion however, Emilio wanted to send Olly to Durmstrang to teach the boy a sense of discipline. This hope was quickly dashed, however, when no invitation arrived from the institute. Fortunately, Hogwarts was much more accommodating to the defiant little boy, and Serena and Emilio quickly ensured that this letter was returned with their acceptance.
Oliver’s parents divorced right before their son began attending school, and without much opportunity for socialisation, Olly’s behavioural problems skyrocketed. Serena and Emilio held out hope that once their son was back around people his own age, his temperament might improve.

The air stood still in the Wilde house as Olly and his mother Serena locked eyes on each other from across the dinner table. Olivers father had finished his meal. Now, as the vegetables on the young boy’s plate had remained uneaten for almost a full half-hour, he had taken to reading the newspaper while this standoff occurred.
“We’re not going to fall for it Oliver.” His mother warned. “Finish your vegetables. I won’t tell you again.”
“Then I don’t need to finish them, because you won’t tell me again.” Olly shot back without missing a beat.
Serena bristled, her flawless lips pursing. “Oliver Wilde, finish your vegetables.”
“You said it again.”
“NOW!”
“NO!”
The vase in the middle of the table shook, then the roses that were arranged in them burst into flames. Both of them were stood now. They looked blankly at the flaming pot. Serena spoke first. “Did you-?”
“Fantastic.” Oliver’s father said dryly “Now he’s not only got your temper, he’s also got my unparalleled ability to break things.” He barely glanced up from the Daily Prophet as he plucked his wand from his robes and shot a jet of water onto the burning flowers, though he did manage to shoot his son a cheeky wink. Serena managed a defeated smile and shook her head, helping her son to clean up the remnants of the shattered pot.
