Riley was sitting in a car with a sad look on her face as she looked out of the rear left window, she had waved goodbye to her house elf Lez who had helped her pack her bags for King's Cross Station. Her mother was busy in her study and hadn't come wave her goodbye and as for her father well he was in the Ministry doing his job. It was up to her to figure things out alone once again. It was only around a twenty minute drive before the car pulls to a stop. The driver steps out and opens the door for Riley "You'll be alright little Caldor. You're smart girl after all, now come along you don't want to miss the train." The driver spoke softly to her before going to the back of the car and popping the trunk. He took out Riley's two bags, backpack and set them down before closing the trunk, he pats Riley's head gently which made some of her hair go out of place "See you in the holidays Riley, if you get bored send an owl to me or Lez! We can't wait to know what you get up to." He smiles before getting into the car and drives off.

Riley picks up her backpack putting it on her back before picking up one bag in each hand and entering the station. She pays for a trolley with muggle money before strapping her bags onto the trolley ensuring everything was very secure, she heads over a bridge looking at the different platforms. She noticed the signs that said '9' and '10' before nodding to herself, her independence kicking in, she quickly heads to the platform and slowly walks down to it but was confused on where to go next. "Why do they never explain the instructions in letters?" She ponders to herself in a whispered voice. She spotted a wall and saw a few other children her age suddenly disappear, she was taken aback by it to be quite honest. She made her way towards the wall standing a slight distance away, upon her face came a confused look with a raised brow, she didn't hear any incantations was it wandless magic? She didn't know but she glanced around making sure no muggles were looking before glancing at her ticket "What do I do? Why is it never simple?" She puts the ticket back in her envelope. She sighs and stood hopelessly next to her trolley completely oblivious to the simple action it takes to reach the Hogwarts Express.

To say that Lucia was relieved upon catching sight of the signs for platforms nine and ten was an understatement. Here, at last, she was out of the dizzying strangeness of the Muggle world and back to somewhere she knew. "Here we are!" Maybe the statement - and the abundance of enthusiasm which came with it - was a little redundant, seeing as how Adlai had likely already spotted the signs, but it had tripped out of Lucia's mouth before she could think about it. "I mean- you probably knew that already, but..." The older Hufflepuff (Adlai was probably older than Lucia was, since the latter had an August birthday) had certainly known a lot more than Lucia did for most of their journey from the London Underground station they'd met at.

As they drew closer to the brick wall between the platforms, Lucia noticed a younger girl standing by herself with a trolley, clutching a ticket - a very familiar looking ticket - in one hand. As Lucia watched, the girl whispered something to herself and slid the ticket into an envelope. As a Hufflepuff, Lucia would probably have felt sorry for the girl no matter how she'd arrived at the station, but after her journey she felt a rush of empathy towards the little brunette with her trolley. "Looks like someone I can help this time," Lucia murmured to Adlai, discreetly nodding over to the first-year to point her out. Then she stopped walking, pulling her trolley to a stop and attempting to catch Adlai's eyes. "Thank you. Again." Without Adlai's help at the tube station, Lucia wouldn't be here now. "I'll- I'll owl you? If that's okay?" About the tutoring, were the words that went unsaid. Lucia's experience with Adlai in Muggle London had really opened her eyes to just how much she didn't know about the world she lived, if not in, then adjacent to. Plus, she was going to fail her Muggle Studies OWL if she didn't accept Adlai's help. "See you at the welcome feast?" Maybe she'd make a friend out of this endeavour as well.

With a wave towards Adlai, Lucia made her way towards the brunette girl. "Hey! Hello." How to phrase this so she'd be safe if the girl turned out to be a Muggle? For Adlai it must have been easy - no Muggle would be muttering about Merlin, even in an Underground station. Just in case, Lucia pulled out her ticket and waved it before her, making sure to only show the girl the back of the ticket. "You're on the same train as me, right?"

Riley had pondered for a while but her eyes widened at the sudden wave of a ticket but she noticed the same style of the ticket to hers. Riley's attention was now set to the female before her, Riley gives a small nod "Yes, it appears so. I'm not quite sure how I'm supposed to pass through the wall." She was quite nervous, it's her first time meeting someone new and it'd be her first time getting in some public transport. She bows her head to introduce herself respectfully "My name is Riley Caldor." She smiled a bit lifting her head back up after her introduction "If you could help me get to the train I'd most appreciate it." Riley had no idea if the female ahead of her actually knew how to get to the train but Riley was taught to be positive first and deal with the negatives after. Riley was also intrigued by the female in front of her, she seems slightly older. Riley hums to herself quietly agreeing to the small deduction she made, perhaps that's evidence enough to believe the female knows how to get to the train.

Riley glances at a clock to check the time noticing she still had a few minutes to arrive at the platform. Seems she could have used that breakfast after all, she had convinced her mother she wasn't hungry and that she needed to get to the station on time. Although she could worry about food later, Riley reached up and grabbed the handle on her trolley ready to make a move. Deciding her inner excitement was too much she double checked her backpack was still strapped on her and her two suitcases were still on the trolley. She faced the female again "Ah, sorry I am rather distracted today. Everything is all new to me and I'm unsure of what I'm doing." She gave out a small nervous chuckle, rubbing the back of her neck. Riley's cheeks were dusted a soft pink feeling flustered and shy. Oh, how she wished she was just back at home reading a book in bed. Social conversations always made her feel awkward.

So the girl whom Lucia had approached was a Hogwarts student! That was something of a relief to the newly fourth-year, even though the worst that could have happened is that the girl would have had no idea what she was talking about, and Lucia would have just carried on her way. Still, that would have been awkward, so Lucia was glad that the brunette - Riley, as she introduced herself - was a witch too.

When Riley spoke her last name, Caldor, Lucia wondered for a moment whether she'd heard it before. She'd long since grown out of her habit of memorising all the pureblood families and trying to work out someone's blood status from their name alone, but Caldor seemed familiar. Well, maybe Riley did come from a pureblood family, or maybe Lucia was just making it up. It wouldn't be the first time she'd misidentified somebody. "Lucia, Lucia Fox," the Hufflepuff said, putting the question of blood purity aside. It didn't matter to her anyway - and Riley was far more likely to be a muggleborn if she didn't know how to get to the station. "I'm a fourth year."

There was a moment of slightly awkward (to Lucia anyway) silence before both girls opened their mouths to speak at the same time. Lucia let Riley go first. "No, it's okay!" she hurried to reassure the younger girl. "It does look very... solid." Lucia was, of course, referring to the brick wall which stood between the pair and Platform 9 3/4. "But it's all an illusion." That was the first thing to get into your head - the wall wasn't really there. Well, it was. But it also wasn't. Lucia didn't know how the barrier worked, but she did know that you needed to rely on logic over instinct when entering the platform. "You just have to go for it."
So sorry for the late reply! I thought I'd already posted this.
