The Hogwarts library put her tiny community library to complete shame and even the small private library in the tower didn’t compare. Despite its use among students and faculty, the library never seemed lacking in books. She watched as several books shot up from the hands of students, zipping up and down, left and right until they found their spot on the shelves. Curiously, she wondered if seven years would be enough to read everything. However, one section of the library gave her the chills. The gate that locked off the restricted section was daunting to say the least. Jordyn got a shiver every time she passed it, as if just looking in the direction of the restricted section would get her in trouble. Nope. Nope. Nope.

She’d actually been on her way out, when she noticed a student in her year had dropped something. It hadn’t appeared that he realized he’d dropped it. She hurried to pick the object up but by the time she looked up to give it back, the student was gone. She couldn’t remember his name for the life of her but she did remember him in a few of her classes. It would have been nice to have remembered, then she might be able to ask if anyone had seen which way he’d gone.

She decided she’d try looking for him. He’d only just left so he couldn’t be far. She raced towards the Great Hall, figuring he might have gone in there, and was just about to search the long tables when she caught sight of him in a different direction. She hurried down the open air corridor until an archway opened up to stone steps. Jordyn hadn’t realized how nice a space the courtyard could be and it was such a nice day to be out.

“Hey!” Jordyn called after the Slytherin boy. She caught up to him, slightly out of breath. “Um… I think this is your remembrall. It fell out of your bookbag on your way out of the library.” Jordyn held it out to him not wanting to hold him up in case he had somewhere to be. Only now that she held it out did she realize the smoke had turned red. Probably to alert the owner that he'd forgotten something.

Kierce was in a rush he had about thirty minutes to do his charms homework he just read up on in the library. He was rushing down the halls when he heard a voice say "Hey!" after a quick glance around he realized no one else was around but him "well there goes charms homework as im no doubt gonna be lectured about how a wizard should a slytherin should act or how im not even meant to be here he thought with malice. He slowed down and slightly turned around when he heard the person speaking to him say "Um... I think this is your rememberall. It fell out of your bookbag on your way out of the library" the girl who spoke to him was a ravenclaw probably around his age but you could never tell. His face flushed with embarrassment "I'm sorry I didn't notice it fall out of the bag. I hope you didn't go through any trouble trying to get it to me." he said his voice speeding up the longer he spoke. "sorry for bieng rude my names kierce." he replied once he took his rememberall back. Trying to think of what else a normal person would say he said "whats your next class? Mines charms." try to make friends the voice in his mind thought. Or at least a friendly aquatence.

“You don’t have to apologize,” Jordyn assured him kindly as she carefully placed the Remembrall in his hand. “It really was no problem. I’m always dropping and losing things, myself.” This wasn’t a lie. From quills to letters to her marbles. There wasn’t a day that didn’t go by that she wasn’t realizing she’d dropped or left something behind. But lost things always had a way of finding her again just as the Remembrall found its way back to Keirce.

She noticed that Keirce was a bit like she’d been a few weeks ago when she’d first arrived at Hogwarts. The lack of exposure in the magical world could definitely take a hit on a student’s self confidence. Knowing how it felt, she decided she wouldn’t make it easy for him to make himself feel bad about honest mistakes. And she didn’t find him rude at all. She’d had entire conversations with people and only realized she’d never introduced herself. Typically, hours later when the person was no longer around. “Pleased to meet you, Keirce. I’m Jordyn.”

“Well, normally I’d have Astronomy right now but we have an evening class tonight so I have this period free.” It was a fair exchange, she supposed. No class now for class later. Other students would have used to free time to goof off but Jordyn’s last Astronomy grade hadn’t been up to par with what she’d have liked to earn so she was going to use the time to study. Soon…

“I can walk with you to class if you like?” She asked it like a question. For all she knew, he wanted to walk there alone or with his actual friends. She hoped he wouldn’t mind though. Something about Keirce made her feel like she’d found another nervous kindred spirit. They could be anxious besties if he was so inclined!
