Hunter is in the center of the dueling stage, feeling odd upon his positioning. He never competed in duels and many would be surprised to see the quiet boy participate in them often. Most days, he typically stood as a bystander, watching and taking notes on the various spells that he witnessed. His notes were helpful, and he'd try his best to craft potions to counteract each spell he witnessed. When he first witnessed the full body bind curse, he taught himself the anti-paralysis potion in fear of such a frightening spell. Today though, he wanted to test his potions and their abilities to subdue students in actual battles. The issue though, was he needed some guinea pigs to help him test his potions, people who had more experience and more interest in the subject of dueling than Hunter. Luckily, he found just the people for such a feat.

As the four students eventually would arrive, Hunter would give the following statement as he stood in the middle of the stage: "Hello." For those who never met Hunter, he had a small African accent with a strong Scottish mix to it. With a polite nod to each student, he'd eventually give the speech that many were waiting for, "My name is Hunter, a second year of house Ravenclaw. You four were the first to respond to my inquiry on those who wanted to test out potions in dueling. As such I have provided three potions to each of your teams. Before I state who is your partner, allow me to explain each potion so no confusion will occur." On both ends of the dueling stage, were small tables with three illuminating potions. Hunter walked towards one of the ends and picked up a glass vial with a murky blue color. "This is Murtlap Essence, a second-year potion that allows you to heal any cuts or injuries. Use it to soothe and heal injuries on your body and you need to apply it on the wounds, do not drink it." Hunter opened the vial, sniffed it, and reeled in disgust as a hint to others that the smell (and thus taste) wasn't going to be pleasant.

Next, Hunter picked up a glass vial with a more light blue color in nature. It seemed "cloudy" inside, "This one should be familiar. A first-year potion that will cause your opponents to be unable to speak, and thus incapable of casting spells, Muffling Draught. The best way to use it would be to throw the vial at your enemy's feet." Hunter didn't dare open the potion, as he placed it back on the table with the other three.

He picked up the last glass vial, full of a very bright and violent-looking shade of red. Not crimson, but almost like magma in color, "This one will most likely be the least well known. A third-year potion, Fire-Breathing Potion, is much stronger in comparison to a Dogsbreath potion. You'll have to drink this one, and I'm unsure of how it will taste; I presume spicily, so hope you all can stomach it. As for what it does, well, pretty self-explanatory, but you'll be attacking like a dragon for a bit." Hunter carefully placed this vial back on the table, more cautious than he was with the others. He then proceeded to walk back towards the center of the dueling stage with a grin on his face, "Now then, use the potions however you wish, just use them correctly. As for your teams, Mr. Chen and Mr. Howard you'll be going against Mx. Zhang and Mr. McCoire." Hunter then jumped off the stage, curious as to how the duel was to turn out. Just how potent did he make these potions? Taking out a pen and his journal, he was ready to take notes on everything that was to occur

"Kila la kheri!" All the best! He stated with a large clap.

TODAY WAS THE BEST DAY!!! And Colin was so excited for it! It was all he could do to scoff down a couple bits of cheese and sausage for lunch. "WHOOO!" he cried out as he jumped up onto the long wooden bench where he sat at the Slytherin table. "Where are you Chen!? You going down today!" he sang out, hoping to get a rise out of his friend. He didn't bother to wait for an answer, but in stead leapt down from the bench and charged out the doors of the Great Hall and into the ancient corridors of the castle beyond.

His bare feet slapped quietly on the ancient stones as he loped along the grand entry hall towards the stairs that lead him ever upwards. There weren't many students about in the corridors, yet he made a point of heading towards groups of them so could dodge between them without bumping into them or getting pummelled in the process. Colin felt kind of sad that he was getting too tall to easily dodge between hand-holding older students, but on the other hand, now that there were more shorter students, he could spread out his arms and play like he was a hunting owl or eagle and soar over the heads of the wee first years without bonking them.

And if he did bonk an occasional firstie, what were they going to do to him? Cast lumos at his gaily bouncing hair!? Colin laughed merrily as he skipped at last along the fourth floor corridor that led to the Duelling Club. He'd been here before, for the battle royale of Scotland vs Ireland in All Britain Tickle Wrestling Championship match between him and Dan Palmer! What an exciting match that was. But today --- whoa. It would be himself, his dear demisister Hunter, his mate Avery and the Hufflepuff, David Howard, who he'd met just that morning in the One Versus One duelling club! Colin was absolutely psyched and excited to be duelling with three other students as interested in the king of wizarding sports as hismelf! He hoped he'd be pitted against Chen and he almost cackled with glee as he thought about all the ways he could send Avery smashing into the walls!

"YEEEP!" he squeaked as he reached out with his left hand and hooked it on the door frame, slingshooting himself around the corner and charging into the middle of the hall. "Yesss! Not late!" he said as he skipped over towards Hunter Argentum, the patron of this little duel.

"Hello," Hunter said as Colin entered. He said no more. Clearly he'd wait for the others to show up before giving his speech. As Colin got closer, he bowed quickly towards Hunter Argentum, repeated the greeting and began to examine the table laid out with potion vials.

Potion theory was okay, and he did well in class, but actually brewing the things took far too much patience and diligence! Sophia was grand when it came to potions, but he really couldn't be bothered beyond a very few basic and relatively simple ones.

Two of these didn't look basic and simple. He sniffed at the air in the room and wrinkled his nose. "Ew." They smelled pretty potent and he wondered what they'd do with them today.

It was October the First and two important events we’re happening today. The first event was the first meeting of my One v One Dueling Club to determine who was dueling who on what dates and stuff. The second event was the unofficial two v two duel that had potions thrown in, moderated by a Ravenclaw by the name of Hunter Argentum. After the club’s meeting was over, I rearranged the classroom to look the way it had when I had come in at eight something earlier in the day and went back to my dorm to put away my stuff. I then went to the Duelling Room on the fourth floor and begin to practice the spells I would use in the duel and a few hours later, I went down to the Great Hall to eat my lunch.

It was a bit past one o’clock by the time I came back to the very same Duelling Room and Hunter had already set up the potions we’d be using during the duel. In the room with him was Colin McCoire, one of the members of my 1v1 Dueling Club so I already knew him and kinda hoped that he’d be on the oposing team so that I could get a glimpse of his power if he decided to use it on me. But even if he was on my team, I’d get to see how good he was anyways since I was going to be moderating a duel of his in the upcoming weeks. I greeted both of the boys and took a seat on the dueling spite as I waited for the rest of the duelists to come in.

Once they did, Hunter explained to us the three potions we’d be using, the Murtlap Potion, the Muffling Draught, and the Fire-Breathing Potion which we hadn’t learnt about yet since we were only second years, but he had probably studied the third year curriculum over the summer or something if he already knew about it. He then said that my dueling partner would be Mr. Chen and that we’d be up against Mx. Zhang and Mr. McCoire. I stepped onto the right side of the duelling stage as it was from my perspective, and drew my wand. To my partner, Mr. Chen, I said “Hey Mr. Chen, I forgot your first name but I hope you’re a good duelist. And I hope I won’t flop like I did during my last one. I probably won’t since everyone here is a second year, but who knows? Also, my name is David Logan Howard, but you can call me whatever you want.”

I then raised my voice and said so that everyone in the room could hear me, “Alright, ladies and gentlemen and everything in between, I am now going to draw from this bucket here a piece of paper upon which is written the name of the spell I’ll use and the person I’ll use it on.” I then proceeded to place my hand into an imaginary bucket and pulled out an imaginary piece of paper before reading it off to myself. “Ooh, this is a good spell and I’m sure you all want to know what it is, right? Well even if you don’t, that’s not my problem because the winner is…” as I spoke the last words, I raised aimed my wand at my desired opponent and started to do the wand movement for the spell I was about to cast whilst at the same time starting to concentrate on the effects of the spell. And then, once I finished making the wand movement, I finished my sentence by saying

Duelling was definitely something that Pax was eager to try out. Somehow they'd managed to go most of their first year without needing to fight, which most would probably consider good, but Pax had an urge to prove themself in all aspects. Duelling was one.

So when they'd got news that a fellow second-year was looking for people to duel, they reckoned that they'd sign up. After all, no better time than the present.

The duelling club was a rarely visited place for Pax; they had no need to after all. So it took them a little while to make their way there. When they arrived, they made their way over to Hunter and the group of others.

Even though duelling wasn't their speciality, the basics of sports were usually similar, and that relied on analysis of the opponents.

Colin McCoire was a good friend of theirs. He had a strong charisma, and good energy. Though they'd fought him before, the fighting was purely physical. Now they thought about it, they'd never much seen his prowess in duels and fights with magic.

Another was David Howard, who Pax had barely come across since they'd been at Hogwarts. As far as they were aware, he was a Hufflepuff duellist. Given his assumed experience, he'd likely be the toughest opponent if they had to face off against anyone.

Finally was Avery Chen, another friend. He was a fellow quidditch player for Slytherin, but they hadn't a clue how strong he was when it came to spell-casting. There was a strong chance he could be a wildcard in a duel.

Once Hunter had talked to them, introduced the rules and also the plot-twist potions, he revealed the teams: Avery and David, vs Colin and Pax.

"Col!" Pax grinned, moving to stand next to the boy. "Let's win this thing!"

They leaned over to observe the potions, mentally repeating their effects. Carefully, their eyes scanned their opponents. In their head, the wisps of an idea were forming.

He was chomping away on toast and chugging it down with loud gulps of orange juice. Someone jumped on the bench nearby and shouted loudly. "Where are you Chen!? You going down today!" the voice berated him, and it could only be one guy. With a loud smack, he slammed his OJ onto the wooden table, juice spattering everywhere. "Oh yeah, McCoire?" he stood up, chest pumped, fists clenched, flashing a wide, toothy grin as a challenge. "I'm gonna send you flying out the window!" he taunted his spunky friend gleefully. Nothing like shooting a few threats and challenges at a fellow housemate and dueling rival.

However, to his disappointment, Colin seemed to be going for a hit-and-run. The other boy's feet slapped their way out of the Great Hall, and Avery stuffed a whole boiled egg into his mouth before chasing after him.

His mad dash sent him tumbling over some sleepy first-years who were his own size, but he ran away with a quick, shouted apology before they could catch him, a laugh bubbling in his throat. The excitement in his veins reached a boil as he dashed into the Dueling Club, panting. It turned out that the others were already there. Gosh, was he late again? It was becoming a pattern for these duels.

He waved excitedly to Hunter and smiled at the others before listening to the Ravenclaw's explanations. "Awesome!" he exclaimed after Hunter introduced the potions to them. He thrust his face close to the vials, very eager to try the Fire-Breathing Potion. "This one looks delicious! Hopefully one of them will be mine!" What a treat. "Which one's your favorite, Hunter?" he asked, curious.

He turned to David as his partner introduced himself. "Hi David, call me Avery!" he chirped. "And I'm a pretty good duelist, so don't you worry!" he said, probably exaggerating his dueling abilities a bit as a quidditch player who had only dueled like, twice. "I'll get rid of the opponents for us in no time." He winked at Colin and Pax. "I don't know, I might feel bad about hitting Pax, but Colin's great target practice, from my experience!"

"Ohhh, can't wait to see!" he said in response to David's spell roulette. His partner was quite the showman, and he knew they were going to have a blast. With that, he smirked and drew his wand, keeping an eye on those delicious potions that he was itching to use.

Hunter was paying little to no attention to the amount of enthusiasm and playful actions that the other students were taking. They all seemed riled up and excited for the match prepared with their own little tricks of mischief. Upon his hands being clapped, the group of second years began to spat their spells with a flurry

The first group of spells were sent out in a flurry of distinct whizzes and roars indicating their intense power when shot by all sides. No one had attempted to go straight for a potion, a bit to Hunter's disliking, but the young Ravenclaw was certain they'd be used eventually at some point. Colin and Avery seemed to have a bit of familiarity with each other, both eyeing the other down perhaps as rivals or friends. It was clear that they were both going to end up firing their spells at each other and both had anticipated it as well. Avery barely dodged Colin's spell of the Green Sparks charm, but Colin was not as fortunate with Avery's Rictusempra. Perhaps it was due to the fact that they weren't the only two involved in this duel; as the only badger on the field, David Howard, sent out an intense heat of fire onto Colin. Hunter became curious at David's little game of a hat trick, was it some sort of psych trick to get into his opponent's head? Hunter was unsure, but the results of the spell were clearly shown. As flames grew and stayed upon Colin's robes, he had little chance of dodging the Rictusempra from Avery. Letting out a howl of laughter get it? Colin could only laugh the pain away.

Of course, there was still another contender for this duel, the only lion to come from a house of the courageous and bold. Pax Zhang was left alone and given little attention by the enemy team, focusing on Colin instead. Clearly, Pax would show that a lion has just as deadly claws as a wolf, and they landed a direct hit upon David. The dancing feet spell, a spell that Hunter recalls well. Just witnessing David begin to dance uncontrollably like a talent show fanatic was already causing Hunter's legs to ack from his own experiences.

They all cast their spells and they were all certainly bound to act fast. The situation seemed unfavorable for Colin, but Hunter only grinned at the actions taking place. It was only a matter of time till a potion was bound to be used, and a good understanding of how powerful they were was going to take place.

“Incendio!”. Out of the tip of my wand flew out an orange streak flame that hit poor Colin who could only laugh at the pain I had caused him because my partner Avery as he had introduced himself, had cast the tickling charm on him. I bad for him as the fire didn’t go out like it had with me during my first ever duel and I was starting to wish that I hadn’t concentrated so much on it. I was also starting to wish that I had cast my spell sooner because while I noticed a spell coming from Pax’s direction, I didn’t have enough time to dodge it and before I knew it, I was hit by his Dancing Feet Spell which had caused my feet to start, well, dancing which sucked, but I did my best with my feet out of my control for now. I turned towards Avery before saying “I see what you meant by Colin being great target practice.”. This was in response to him telling me “I don't know, I might feel bad about hitting Pax, but Colin's great target practice, from my experience!” earlier in the match. I then turned to face my opponents again and said, “Well ladies and gentlemen and everything in between, as we see, that spell hit our target right on the mark. The question is however, will I be able to him our next target with my feet so out of control? I guess we shall see. And now, for the next spell…” I reached my hand into the imaginary bucket again before pulling out an imaginary piece of paper out of it for the second time today. “ooh, this is a good one, but whether or not it will hit it’s target is a different question entirely. Anyways, here goes nothing.”

It seemed Pax would go unnoticed in the crossfire of spells that would shoot back and forth. They would grin for a split second before watching two spells hit Colin, causing his wolf-like grin to appear and a loud howling laugh to erupt as he spontaneously combusted into flames.

"Colin!" They weren't sure if the boy could hear him over the sound of his laughter. "You're on fire! Literally!"

At least their spell had hit David, whose feet began to move wildly around. Hopefully, this would mess with his head and cause his aim to go crazy and miss every spell ever. So long as they focused on that and not on the burning child beside them, a smile could creep onto their face for a moment.

"Suck it, tap dancer!" Pax yelled at the Hufflepuff. "Prepare to go down!"

Behind their confident smirk was hidden a slight concern. Colin was probably really not feeling great right now, and as much as they believed they could take on the badger and the snake alone, they probably couldn't.

Careful to not get burned by the flames, Pax edged closer to Colin. "Dude, please pull yourself together. You don't look too good, keep it together dude!"

"Verdemilious!" Colin yelled as he aimed his wand at his friend Avery! Twas a good strong cast, but Avery was quick enough to dodge it! His was but one of four voices that called out spells as one. Mixed with the cheers and calls of the audience that had somehow shown up to watch, Colin wasn't sure which spells were aimed at him and which at Pax.

Aw, crap.

"Incendio!" Alright, David's brilliant orange jet of magic was headed straight for Colin. "Rictusempera!" But Avery's sense of humour hit him first and all Colin could do was laugh as the flames engulfed him!

"AAAAH HAHA-HAHA-HAH!!" Not the first time Colin had been incendioed, he was at least prepared for the pain of it. "AWW HAH HAH HAHHH!!!" He bent double with laughter as the fire burnt his shirt to ashes.

He looked at himself, then at Pax. "HAAAAHH HAHHH HAAAAHH!!" Classic Colin McCoire! Yet another shirtless duel! Tears of mirth moistened his eyes as he tried to point his wand at Avery. It waggled around ineffectually and Colin laughed through the pain of the fire!

He knew he wasn't doing well so far and the fire and the laughter took their toll on him. His friend Pax tried to get him to pull himself together, but he could do nothing but look up at her from his half crouch and giggle "YEEEE HEE HEE HEEEEE!!!!"

He deftly side stepped the Green Sparks shot in his direction. Whew, that was close. He didn’t really want a face full of that stuff. He glanced back at Colin, and saw that his spell had sent his friend into bouts of maniacal laughter despite the fact that he was on fire. It was quite the ironic scene, making him look like the embodiment of chaos, as if he were reenacting that Elmo meme.

“Colin, don’t you dare let some little flames and tickling take you out, mate! I still have more to throw at you later!” Avery yelled above the laughter, passing along some wholehearted encouragement beneath what seemed like a taunt. He didn’t want anyone to think he was going to go easy on his housemate just because they were buddies. Colin was also a dueling rival of his, after all.

As Colin’s shirt fell to the floor in crisps, he couldn’t help noticing the large scars on his chest. The gashes were obviously once quite severe, considering the swiping marks they left in his body. What were they caused by? He couldn’t help wonder. Maybe it was something he could ask his housemate another time, if he happened to remember. But for now, there was the next round to think about.
