XXXFedya was starting to lose sight of Alexi as he soared so far ahead. There was hardly any hope of catching up, as Fedya figured that they had already secured the victory with how far up their teammate was—of course, that was too big an ask.

Alexi was down now, injured and too far away to be helped by anyone else on the team.

Seemed as if Fedya would be their best bet at finishing, floating high above.

Drew didn't know what was happening to him. His mind kept wandering, and he kept getting distracted. Honestly, if he was going to be a broom racer, couldn't he just race without other things getting in the way? He was at least grateful that he wasn't hurting from the acid anymore.

His hopes were not very high. Nobody could win after this.

Just keep going, he told himself.

Finally. Finally, she had gotten untangled from the vines. It had only taken an eternity and a whole lot of blood, sweat and tears to make it happen. But at least she was free now. She sped forward, putting as much distance between herself and the vines as she could. Honestly, she never wanted to see vines again after today.

She turned her head, aiming to cast a spell at one of the Ilvermorny racers, but common sense told her that it would be too far a distance for the spell to successfully hit, so Vivienne turned her gaze forward again, determined to win this race.

Andrew was back. Maybe the young boy had needed a few moment to recover from bundimun acid and the other difficulties of the first few rounds but was now ready to continue the race. A little behind the others, he would arrive at the vines- yes, the difficult ones that had cost some of the other racers quite a bit of time.

That would not be it for Andrew. After pulling free from the vines, he would find himself eye to eye with an angered Whomping Willow, that would not miss its chance to take its anger out on a slower racer. One branch would crash down on the poor teen.

Being out of the vines, Vivienne had some catching up to do. But maybe the speed she had chosen was just a bit too much to be able to avoid the trees in front of her?

Irina took it slower this round, ready to use her advantage of being far ahead of Ilvermorny to attack. But as she threw a branch at the ascended American, it quickly got clear that it wouldn't hit.

Stephen, for the first time in too long during the course of the race, was able to actually enjoy the race for a bit. Yes, he was well aware he was Ilvermorny's best hope for a miracle win, and that is exactly what it would take for Ilvermorny to win at this point. Unfortunately, a miracle is precisely what he most definitely did not see on the horizon. And he could see quite a bit from his fantastic vantage point at this elevation.

For instance, he could see two Koldovstoretz racers ahead of him, and both were very close to crossing the Finish Line. Still, it was never really over until it was over, and he still had some racing to do. He was decided to enjoy the rest of his race and he bent low over his broom handle and zipped through the sky, unimpeded by obstacles and other players.

Enjoyment of what was available to him in those moments was not Stephen giving up. Giving up was not in his DNA. He was still racing, pure and simple. He would continue to do so until it was over or he no longer could, having left his best on the field.

Drew wasn't really sure what was happening to him. He could do this, he just had to get across the finish line. He sped forward, seeing the vines up ahead. He tried to evade them, but he wasn't fast enough, quickly finding himself caught in the vines. He gritted his teeth and pulled forward, pulling himself free from the vines.

The Whomping Willow. Rose had told Drew about this tree, but he wasn't prepared for it. A tree that attacked those around it? That was not only very rude, but why would you have a tree like that on school grounds? Students could get hurt. Honestly. At least it made life a little more interesting.

Or painful.

One branch crashed down on Drew, and he was thrown off track. Who could have guessed that a tree could be so strong? Drew could feel his strength waning. Come on, he told himself. You're almost there.

The race was essentially over at this point. It was obvious that Irina’s team was going to win since her teammates were the two closest to the finish line. To try and stop any posible competition, Irina grabbed a tree branch and chucked it at Stephan. It did not hit, but the little dude was looking pretty fatigued and if she could just hit him once then this race would be over. With her teammates out in front and her mind set on taking this boy out of the competition, Irina focused on what she needed to do.

XXXClose. Oh, so close to sweet release, a well-deserved finish. Fedya could almost taste victory. He took lead off the race, hands gripping the end of his broom tightly. If anyone deserved this win, it was his school.

After their negative experience with Hogwarts a mere two years before, Fedya was determined to bring some glory back to his school.

Ilvermorny would not know peace until the game was done.

Until the game was won.

Ouch. As she continued on, determined to reach the finish line with just how close she was, she appeared to have gotten too careless and just couldn’t avoid the trees in front of her, colliding into them. She winced, gaining more cuts and bruises upon the multitude of current scratches and bruises she already has.

Still, she was so close to the end she could almost taste the victory on her tongue, and she continued forward, full speed ahead. She glared as she saw more vines, but it seemed her anger and determination was enough to get her through them unscathed. She really, truly, did not want to see vines again in her life.

Irina would quit flying this round, probably relying on her two leading teammates. Instead she continued to focus on the still ascended American and hurled another branch his way- more successfully than last time, knocking the young boy right out of the sky.

Stephen managed to fly undisturbed so far, the end of the race was already in sight- if it hadn't been for the branch that would hit his back hard. So hard that the already weakened boy slid off his broom for good.
Vivienne would fly a few meters below Stephen- it was astounding what a difference these meters made, wasn't it? The circumstances were entirely different, unlike Stephen, Vivienne would have to withstand some final obstacles.

Only on the final meters, the spell on Fyodor would wear off and the boy would find himself descending, back to one height with the other racers. And back to a level where the winds could hit and sabotage him, only a few meters away from victory.

After tackling trees, being stuck in vines for ages and ages, enduring the pain of bundimun acid and much more, two racers made it over the finishing line, only with a few meters distance- The first being Fyodor, the second Vivienne!
