Doing the "impossible"
My first class...what might that be? Flying, of course! I was a little nervous(just like I had been for the past 24 hours or so), but I was determined to keep my cool. The professor was waiting for us. My group was made up of mostly Gryffindors, with lots of Slytherins, then Ravenclaws, then Hufflepuffs, who I didn't really know yet. Turning my attention to the professor, I held out my hand above the broom on the ground. As the professor had told us to do, I said, "UP!" Maybe I was concentrating too hard maybe I was lost or distracted, maybe the broom had a mind of its own, but whatever it was, the broom sort of smacked me upside the head. Ow...not off to a great start! I could hear the other students snickering. Ok, let's try that again. "Up," I repeated, in a quieter tone. The broom just shifted, but it did not zoom to my hand like with the other kids. Sulking a little, I repeated the command with more force. The broom flew into my hand for a split second before trying to go up some more! I felt like I was being lifted off the GROUND. This was NOT supposed to happen! I seemed to have ended up failing my first class. Way to go, Ro...

Doing the "impossible"
My first class of the year was none other than flying. I was really excited and wanted to also show off the flying skills that my Dad had taught me before I went to Hogwarts. The class was made up of lots of Gryffindors and Slytherins, but also some Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs. I looked around and saw everyone talking with each other in their own groups. At that moment, I realized that I was alone and didn't have any friends yet. Oops, I guess I was so excited for this flying lesson I forgot to even talk to people, I thought. I was interrupted by a whistle coming from Professor Stube, she told everyone what we were going to do today, then handed us brooms, we all stood in two lines facing each other. I chose to go next to a nice looking Hufflepuff girl, I placed my broom on the ground along with everybody else.
All we had to do was say 'up', and lucky for me, I had done that many times, so it wasn't hard for me. The broom flew up into my grasp, I smiled to myself and looked around to see no one else had done it yet. I saw the Hufflepuff next to me say, "UP!" unluckily for her, the broom whacked her upside down. My face cringed, knowing that probably hurt, other students around her started snickering. But she just continued to try and get the broom into her hand, I admired her determination, a lot of people would've given up by now.
Finally, her broom flew up into her clutch, and I smiled, happy that she did it. But it didn't last long, as her broom didn't stop there, it continued to fly up. She still had her grasp on the broom as it just continued to fly up into the air. My eyes widened when she didn't let go, and instead started to lift off the ground. Her hand was clenched tightly around the broom stick, and was still floating up, it caught Professor Stube's attention, and she cast a spell with her wand, making the broom stop and fly back down to the ground. As soon as the girl reached the ground, Professor Stube asked if she was okay and then took the broom and mumbled to herself, "Must be broken". She then said class was dismissed, everyone walked different ways, and I had no one to walk with. That's until I spotted the Hufflepuff girl walking by herself too, I realized I might as well introduce myself.
So I walked up beside her and said "Hi" smiling at her, "My name's Emma."

Doing the "impossible"
I jumped when I heard a girl’s voice right beside me. Flustered and fumbling for words, I said, “Oh! Oh, um, hi! Nice to meet you Emma! I’m Aurora, though you can call me Ro.” I had no idea why this girl was talking to me, because after all, I had just screwed up very badly in front of a bunch of students. Though I wanted to say it aloud, I didn’t, because a little thing that I like to call the friendship instinct took over, and I found myself saying, “So…do you know a lot about the Wizarding World?” Once rationality caught up with me, I felt like slapping a hand to my forehead You’re a genius, Ro. What if Emma is here to make fun of you or something? I didn’t know if Emma was one of the other kids snickering or not, but I did know that I was meeting a lot of new people at Hogwarts! I then added, “I seem to be having a very hard day. I don’t know if flying is my strong suit, but I might get better, who knows?” I honestly had no idea what was wrong with that broom. But, you know, I’ll try to get better!

Doing the "impossible"
I saw that Aurora seemed embarrassed. Well, I don't blame her. I'd be too if on my first flying lesson, my broom started floating up into the air, taking me with it. But that's besides the point. I did feel bad for her, considering there are probably people making fun of her right now, but I'm not one of them. I am here to make her feel better, and hopefully become her friend.
"In all honesty," I start, "what happened in class wasn't that bad. I'm pretty sure this guy last year got smacked in the face, then he hopped onto the broom and it took off. So what I'm trying to say is, that what occurred in flying class, might not be as awful or embarrassing as what's happened to others." Okay that was not the best way to put it. I've never really been one for cheering people up, and sometimes I get awkward and then don't know what to say. But before it gets all weird and quiet, I decide to change the subject.
"And um, yes I do know some stuff about the Wizarding World. My Dad's a wizard and my Mum's a muggle, so yeah, I'm a Half-Blood." I say, doing jazz hands. I then realize what I'm doing, and quickly put them down. Mentally slapping myself in the face. I choose to continue, "I live in Winchester, England though. But me and my parents do occasionally visit here for reunions with my Dad's side of the family, or just to go on a holiday." I say, I hope that Ro's not one of those people who are really judgy about Muggles. Oh no, what if she's a pureblood?! But then again, she is in Hufflepuff, they're supposed to be loyal and just, and nice to others right? I guess I just need to make sure that I don't say anything stupid or offensive.
"So um, what about you? Do you know a lot about the Wizarding World?" I ask Ro.
