Camp '22 Summer Duelling Funtime Extravaganza, Match: 5

Time was ticking closer and closer to the end. The match was close and that makes the stakes high. Their next move would most likely be their last. Last for the day that is.

Which meant that Galton had to be sharp about it. Was there a safe move in this situation? An especially flashy move? He didn’t have long to think of it - whatever it was going to be. What would make Mr. Wand proud? He couldn’t forget about the most important opinion of all.
Action: Not forgetting about Mr. Wand

Bridget's reminder brought on a jolt of urgency. Pericles could hardly worm a finger beneath the blindfold. It was tied fast, luring out a rare scowl from the typically tranquil student. Feeling robbed of an opportunity for an epic showdown, he strained his ears for the whistle of an incoming spell, gripping his wand while hastily contemplating his final move.

Pericles, to his credit, didn't lose his sense of logic to the frustration of not being able to get the blindfold off. There wasn't enough time to untie it and get a spell off anymore, so it was pointless to try. He instead did what little he could, mending the handful of bruises he'd received. If the duel had been a little longer, Bridget was pretty sure he would have been able to take a few more hits from Galton in the time it took to remove the blindfold; he looked barely touched, perhaps only winded by the mental strain of spreading his spells so much.

Galton also opted to heal. They were all captains, so Bridget wouldn't be surprised if Galton was noticing the same things she was as she made up her mind on who had the upper hand in these last few seconds. If Galton and Pericles had been allowed to duel it out, it probably could have gone either way, but Gryffindor was just a bit ahead at the moment. Blindfolded as he was, there was very little Pericles could do to change that, so all Galton had to do was boost his strength just a bit, not make any grievous mistakes before she called the duel.

"That's time!" And there it was, the last seconds running out. She made her way in between the two, but waited a minute before announcing a winner. Firstly, she wanted to be sure, to survey both of the still-standing duellists and review her tally of hits. Tacked on to that was the hope Pericles could figure out his blindfold; she'd like to give him that dignity if she could (success up to you).

The moment passed, she cleared her throat. "In Match 5 of the summer duelling matches, the Guest Team places 3rd, Ravenclaw places 2nd, and Gryffindor takes 1st." The match was certainly a victory for Hogwarts, if you were looking at them as a collective school, though she imagined there was enough competitive spirit between the houses that not everyone saw it that way. "Well-played, both of you. All those spell splits were really cool to watch. Healer tents are over that way if you need them."
