Just a few tears on the train
Please Bear with me as I work on getting a second year banner || by: Siena Lenoir
After Quinn's eventful summer she was more then happy to be going back to Hogwarts. Not that she didn't love her family, it had just been a while since she's seen some of her friends, she was also excited to lean some new spells. She had all of her belongings in her trunk, the new school year books. She didn't need any robes, the ones from last year still fit. Somehow they wernt destroyed with all of her adventures.
There where a few things that didn't go in her trunk for obvious reasons. Like her big cat bear, who's paws made a soft tap as her jogged beside her. His bell on the gold collar ringing with each step he made. She had her wand that previously belonged to her grandmother in her pocket. You never knew when someone would need a thrashing. Or a threat for one.
There was another reason it was out. It was her grandmothers
the last this she had gotten from her. Even if she didn't give it to Quinn directly. "Come on bear! We need to be quick if we want to get an empty one!" she said to her cat with a smile. She ran with her cat to the Hogwarts express, on platform 9 3/4.
When she saw the train again she couldn't help but grin. Boy did she miss this place. She climbed aboard the train and began to search for an empty compartment. It didn't take long at all to find one, she did get on the train a bit early to be sure of that. She pushed her trunk on to the rack above, and took a seat. Bear almost immediately crawled up on her lap. She wasn't sure whay. Most likely they were happy tears but she cried. She wasn't sad, she didn't understand why now of all times.

Just a few tears on the train
Illusia's parents stood stiffly a few steps aside from the pillar which they came through. Illusia was too excited to acknowledge their nervousness.
There were people hurrying along the platform like they already knew where they were supposed to go, and then there were families like Illusia's who stood in place, trying to take everything in. A man in a full tweed suit of red and green plaid almost toppled over Illusia when sprinting through the barrier and heading towards an open window of one of the train carriages. Illusia saw the man hand over a round, blue ball of fluff to the waiting hands of a distressed student. So that's what a pygmy puff looked like.
"The Hogwarts Express leaves in five minutes' time!" A man in uniform shouted.
"I didn't realise we were so short on time", Illusia's mother gasped. Illusia's bottom lip quivered as she hugged both of her parents.
"I'm not going to cry!" She said, squeezing her eyes close furiously as she felt tears forming in the corners.
"We'll see really, really soon, it's alright, really. I can take care of myself already."
"Remember, if anything is wrong, anything at all, go to the Headmaster or the teachers, Illusia", her father said, taking a hold of her shoulder and looking her in the eyes.
"And remember to write home as often as you can", her mother added, "even though there's new things to do, we're stressing at home and waiting for your letters, so don't you forget." Illusia shook her head, of course she'd remember.
Her father helped lift her trunk onto the train, and then they waved until Illusia disappeared from the door as she began searching for a place to sit. Apparently, there were no prearranged seats. How odd! And she'd never been on an old train like this, the modern ones had rows of seats, but this one only had closed compartments. Illusia realised while looking inside them as she walked along that they were mostly occupied, and that even if they did have room she felt too anxious to open the door and ask.
Suddenly the new cloak on her shoulders got caught on the trunk of a bypassing student who was squeezing through, and her own tumbled to the floor when she got pulled along by the neck.
"Oops! Sorry, you first years always get pushed around a bit, don't you? Just use your elbows, it won't do too much harm when you're tiny like that", the tall boy grinned, lifted the trunk back up into Illusia's arms and disappeared into a compartment.
Illusia huffed and adjusted the collar of her cloak. She was done with searching, she wanted to sit too. Why did the trunks have to be so heavy? Surely there was another, better, way to travel with luggage. Illusia missed her dad already. What if she got kicked off the train for some reason and was in the middle of nowhere with this big, inconvenient case of belongings that wasn't really meant for carrying?
Finally, there was a nook with only one student. She opened the door and took a step inside.

"Hello, is it fine if I— Oh", Illusia stopped mid-sentence. The girl seemed to be crying.
"Are you alright? Actually, I'm pretty scared too, if... That is what's bothering you", Illusia stammered.
She sat down across from the pretty dark-haired girl and started playing with the sleeves of her cloak. She didn't like when people were upset, she didn't feel confident in consoling them.
"Your cat is awesome", she said, looking at the pet that was nuzzled on its owner's lap. Animals were so much more intelligent than people gave them credit for.
Illusia had read through all her school books before even setting foot on the school grounds. She'd clung to any new piece of information, as she just couldn't help feeling like she was on an unjustifiably different level from the kids who were from wizard families. She couldn't just walk into a public library and start reading about the history of magic. As the professor from Hogwarts had explained on his visit to the Bobich house, magic simply didn't exist to anyone else in her world. Now she finally had the opportunity to learn.
