“Sounds a lot like your hobby than it is mine” he retorted immediately, though less sharp and far more gentle. As if taking pleasure in others humiliation is some sort of achievement. “ You have fun doing that. I prefer short cuts. Unless, it’s worth going through hoops for. I’m just choosy in what I spend my time doing. Tricking is more difficult than you make it seem, Burnett”. Most of Hana’s mischief only stemmed from lying through his teeth. And even those end up backfiring one way or another. Using his brain cells to play out a safe, fool-proof successful prank wasn’t on his daily to-do list. “ Plus, didn’t you notice I’m like- super nice now compared to when we were younger?' G u i l t y Pleasure', for sure, Burnett ” he insisted with a charming grin.

Hanako took notice of how Burnett immediately corrected his words. He gave no response but the hint of smile on his face indicated he was at least pleased. By the way he talked, it didn’t seem like he was making fun of Hanako for being sensitive about something so insignificant. It was odd to have someone understand what he meant just from his small gesture. Even more so that it was, Burnett. Hanako wouldn’t normally call them regular talking buddies. And yet, it was appreciated. Though he kept that small fact to himself. Burnett would probably be better without knowing the fact. This reasoning only solidified when Jack started to explain his real intentions for the token system.

W o w ” Hanako took a full minute to sink all that in. Once again, he didn’t know if he should laugh or take it seriously. “ Wow ” he settled for a somewhat amused, somewhat confused face. “You hate the idea of being friends that much?” Suddenly immensely interested than ever before, Hana even leaned forward from his tree trunk that previously supported his back. Though he was careful not to fall. It would be... utterly embarrassing to fall now.

It was sorta baffling. Burnett certainly went above and beyond for his dislike towards friends. As someone who had been in that era in his life, even Hana never thought of going that far for it. He simply just- scared everyone away by being a prick. Was this another prime example of how different him and Burnett operated?

Wow. Even I started opening up to the idea of it, you know? Though, I think that's more because of my special circumstances. Ever gotten a Decent Human Behaviour teacher before? Wouldn’t recommend it”. Hanako could very well come off as nosy. It merely slipped out of his mind as he was momentarily distracted by the fascination of it. Hana’s not often curious, especially about other people. But Jack’s explanation had sparked something in him. “ You’re really this determined? What about Holmwood? I see you two seem pretty close. I sorta expected you two to be more than just uh.. whatever it is you call people who you like but aren’t your friends. Play things? Toys? I don't think ‘victim’ suits Holmwood ”.

Laughing at Hanako's talk of preferring short cuts and that tricking was more of Jack's thing than his, Jack shrugged. "To each their own, I guess. And I don't know about super nice, but you're definitely different than when we were younger. What happened to change you?" he asked, returning the other Slytherin boy's grin. "Did you meet someone who inspired you to be nicer?"

When Hanako started 'wow'ing at Jack's reasons for his token system, he nodded definitively. "Being friends is overrated. It's much easier when things are done in business-like transactions so you know who owes who what. Don't you think?" The way Hanako suddenly seemed more attentive by leaning in started to make Jack slightly nervous. He sat up a little more on his broom.

"A 'Decent Human Behavior teacher'?" Jack repeated, giving Hanako an incredulous look. "Is that why you changed?" He had to snort in amusement when the Japanese teen went on to say he wouldn't recommend it. "That teacher of yours couldn't have been all that bad if you learned how to be a better person, though, can they have?"

The moment Hanako mentioned Holmwood, Jack went rigid. He clutched his broom handle so hard that his knuckles turned white. He turned his head to look off into the distance as he said, "We're dormmates. Of course we're close. We have to live together. Isn't that what dormmates are like? Or aren't you close with yours?"

To each their own ” Hana repeated shortly after Jack did, with an approving nod. It was only when he asked what changed him that Hanako’s focus on him started to drift away. The first thought that came to mind was Percival punching the lights out of him (Hana was magnamizing it) during the Fight Club. The event they experienced was old news. Old and bad news. Enough that he was confident that by not mentioning it at all, Hana would be doing both of them a favour.

Oh you know, the usual way people get inspired to be nicer”. He started, his smile slowly coming back. “ Someone threw a few biscuits at my face. Told me it was possible I didn’t have to be a prick all the time ”. He then eyes Jack suspiciously, mischief in his eyes. “ Why ask? Interested? I could do the same for you if you’d like? I’m quite good at aiming. Dueling taught me well” He joked, though the idea of practising his aim by throwing biscuits at someone's face was amusing.

Jokes aside, I realised I saw Rainwood more than just a meatshield. He was mad at me, though. Difficult to get him back when I couldn’t even say ‘sorry’ at the time. Dee was just suddenly there, throwing biscuits at me and offering her help. Do you know her? Dealla Prince. The Ravenclaw that's a bit on the chaotic side”. Calling someone chaotic wasn’t always a huge compliment, but being reminded of the Ravenclaw and their relationship made him smile slightly brighter. Even though he didn’t notice it himself.

Hanako was close to laughing when Jack visibly leaned away. Perhaps Amortentia Hana scared him more than Hana thought. Nothing pleased Hanako more than the reminder. Okay maybe he can let off some steam with this. By giving Jack more of his space back, it was his way of silently saying ‘thanks bro’.

“ Well, I can’t say I’ve never had that thought before. I’m just surprised you haven’t changed much in that aspect. Not that I’m saying it’s bad. I can definitely see the appeal of it. There are times where I wish I still thought the same”. Sure, friends are fine now. But everything Hana had avoided all his life had begun crashing down as well. Like feeling inferior, or unwanted over the simplest things. At least in business transactions, all parties would lose and gain around the same amount of value. With friends, you gain immense value, while also risking losing it all. So of course, Hana respected Jack for it at least.

When the topic of Hana’s Decent Human Behaviour lessons came about, the conversation seemed to take a turn for a more fun atmosphere. One look at Jack’s face, and Hanako would not be able to hold in the series of chuckles that followed afterwards. Until he realised wow. He’s having fun with Jack Burnett. This .. will take some seconds to get used to. “ Well, I mean she was a good teacher. If she wasn't I would've left way earlier than I did. And yes, I do l o v e not greeting strangers with insults off the bat.” his tone lost enthusiasm as he mentioned the insult greetings. As if he was reading off a script he didn’t memorise for a presentation. ”I give her credits for that, yes. I only wouldn’t recommend her because I assume you two would argue. Different opinions and what not. Maybe you have more fight in you to argue. I, on the other hand- prefer not”.

That would be the extent of the nice atmosphere. He raised an eyebrow at Jack's behaviour that has been totally different from their previous interactions. While Jack looked into the distance, Hana gave him a ‘you still never answered if he was friends with you though’ look. Though he didn’t dwell on it.

He was eager to drop the subject. Burnetts reaction was more than enough of an answer Hana willingly wanted to know. Flash needs to give him a Flash Token while humouring him about random jokes, and Jack needs to allow Hana to throw biscuits at his face. Until then, Hanako couldn’t be less interested in Burnett’s and Holmwoods ‘roomie’ relationship.

It wasn’t until Jack mentioned Percival that Hana gave more or less the same reaction that Jack did earlier. Hanako momentarily narrowed his eyes at the boy, before he began relaxing into a weak grin. “ OoOoOo, Okaayy Burnett. I was going to let go of you for not answering my question properly. Still am. Though your question does remind me of something”. Hana twirled the Fox Token between his fingers, his gaze entirely on it. “ That we both aren’t in the mood to go in detail about our roommates, and that I’m too smart to use my token to get you to open up about it”.

He stopped playing with the token, his eyes now on Jack’s once more. Instead of it’s earlier bitterness, Hana’s tone was soft once more. An encouraging smile rested on his face. “ You get me, don’t you? Can we pretend I never asked?”

He supposed the shift in atmosphere was his fault. But was he going to say sorry for it? No! Just because he learned to apologize didn’t mean he’d say sorry all the time. Percival was a bit of a touchy subject. Hanako blindly assumed Jack was ready to sing praises about how great of a friend Holmwood is and how he’s an exception. That was his mistake.

Jack laughed aloud at Hanako's tale of having had biscuits thrown at his face. He supposed that was as good a reason as any to want to change, though it did seem less dramatic than what Jack might have imagined. "No, no, that's okay," Jack answered, putting up his palms as if in surrender when Hanako offered to do the same for him. "I like myself the way I am, thank you very much."

He was surprised when Hanako went on to explain a more in-depth reason as to why he decided to change. "'Get him back'?" Jack repeated, starting to sneer. "As what? A friend?" The mention of Dealla caused his brows to rise. "Dealla Prince? Yes, I know her. I don't think I really ever thought of her as 'chaotic', though." Then again, maybe he hadn't seen the sides of her Hanako had. Or Hanako's definition of chaotic was different than Jack's. "She's a clever one. There are definitely worse people to have help you." He wondered just how close Hanako and Dealla were to see the smile brighten on Hanako's face. Perhaps they had really gotten along.

Blinking when Hanako said he was 'surprised Jack hadn't changed in that respect', Jack scratched his head. "So...you don't think the same way anymore?" Had Dealla really reformed him that much, then? "It's not like I've never tried friendship before. It's just...hard. Painful. I don't like dealing with the idea of having to lose it." It made him think back to when he had finally accepted that he was Flash's friend.

"Are you sure it's not her you're in love with?" he asked when the topic switched back to Dealla as Hanako's teacher. Maybe she had changed the way he saw things because of how he felt about her. Much as he hated to admit it, Jack thought he could understand that; maybe even relate to it. "We do argue. I like arguing; it gives me a sense for how intelligent someone is. Why, do you and her not argue?" Apparently not from what Hanako said. Right; he was probably too lazy to argue back. That didn't mean he had to believe everything she said without question, though, so it was still surprising to Jack that Dealla must have changed Hanako's perspective so much.

Upon turning back to look at Hanako from his faraway gazing, he found the Japanese boy fixing him with a 'you still never answered the question, though' look. To that, Jack made a face and stuck out his tongue. As if he would admit he was friends with Flash to someone like Hanako that easily. The noiret would probably never let him live it down.

Then Hanako was narrowing his eyes at Jack and he wondered what he'd said. Oh...about their roommates. Evidently neither Slytherin was in the mood to talk about them. "Good thinking," Jack said when Hanako said he was too smart to use his token to get him to open up.

He watched Hana play with the token until he stopped and met Jack's gaze. It dawned on him what his peer was trying to say when he inquired if they could forget he ever asked. Jack sneered and nodded before waving a hand at him dismissively. "Fine, fine. We'll pretend you never asked." It did make him wonder, though, if Hanako had a similar situation to his regarding his own roommate.

"Did you...did you two ever make up after Rainwood got mad at you, though?" Jack wanted to know. "After Dealla's teaching you how to be a nicer person? Or are you still a work in progress?"

Upon hearing Jack’s blatant rejection to his offer, Hanako gave him a dramatic frown. “ Awww, really? Oh what a shame~” he trailed off sadly barely containing the grin that followed afterwards. “ Well, if you change your mind, you know where to find me. I charge 12 sicklers per cookie.”

Jack proceeded to double-confirm what Hanako would call Percival. “..Ye, Burnett. A friend. What else he could’ve been? A bodyguard? A lackey? A boyfriend? I’m sure you know neither of those make sense, right? Or is me admitting he’s a friend too mind boggling?”. Honestly, he wouldn’t blame Jack. Hanako made it difficult enough for anyone to get to know him. Having a solid friend for once almost seemed absurd. He hoped he didn’t need to dwell on it further, though. As much as he was confident he and Percival were ‘friends’, it opened to a new idea if Hanako was satisfied enough with just being friends. And that is a rabbit hole he’d rather not fall into. Much less in front of Burnett.

Not Chaotic?” he couldn’t help but laugh. “ Okay- maybe sit through one of her lessons. Then come back to tell me again, if she’s chaotic or not. Maybe you can be her next victim. ' Experiment 627, Burnett '. Nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”. Dee had made the random decision to address Hanako as Experiment 626. Why that specific number, Hanako will never know. But she seemed very intent on keeping it, therefore he had learned to wear it with pride. Plus the idea of Burnett being in her class was amusing to no end. Hanako would be willing to pay to see that. If that worked and Jack changed, Dee would basically be a pokemon collector. Grabbing all the emotionally unavailable kids in hogwarts to sit through her classes. How fun~.

Worst people, huh?” Hanako leaned back, his fingers tapped his chin as he was deep in thought. “ Hmm.. who’d you reckon would do a worse job? Hufflepuff’s?” He jested with a snicker. If they were the stereotypical Hufflepuffs, Hanako could definitely imagine the suffering he’d go through.

Jack seemed to be trying his best to fully get what Hanako was saying regarding his thoughts on friends and whatnot. “ I mean, I relate to what you said. “ He said in regards to the hurt that comes with relationships. “ But I guess, I sort of accept that there's no real way of avoiding the cost of it. Having someone to trust, I mean. Now I just try my best not to lose that earned trust”. A bit too much, on his end. Burnett didn’t need to know that. “ Let me be clear this doesn’t mean I'm seeking new friends all the time.” he added with haste, not wanting Burnett to get ridiculous ideas. “ Though Dee’s classes helped, it’s not generally easy for me to like someone. I just simply dont think they’re a total waste of space the second I meet them anymore. She helped me improve, but she's no miracle worker.

It was only this time when the Japanese boy realised he had never had anyone to talk though about this sort of topic. Jack’s comment on it has re-piqued Hana’s attention once more. Was it weird he sorta enjoyed this conversation? As much as Burnett had his faults, Hanako could barely think of another person better suited to share this topic with. Perhaps it was the similarities Hanako was seeing they had for the first time ever. Before he had only assumed. Confirmation was entirely a different matter.

Hanako regretfully admits that he was interested in what made Burnett- erm, Burnett. Who exactly made him fear that follows after losing close relationships to this extent? Like who hurt him? A question Hanako was determined to never ask. If Burnett was anything like 1st Year Hanako, asking ‘Who hurt you?’ would only result in you being hurt yourself. Perhaps Burnett was more chill than that, we may never know.

"Are you sure it's not her you're in love with?"

Whatever Jack had suggested, whether it’s a joke or not, seemed to have ignited the same reaction as when he almost suggested Hanako helped him with kindness. Except this time his irritation was more prominent. The mere mention of it drained all the earlier traces of Hana’s good mood. It took a few long seconds before his expression eased back neutrally, but he refused to meet Burnett’s eyes. “...Careful about throwing around that word carelessly. Love? Please He rolled his eyes and scoffed. “ Do you really see me as a ‘dating’ sort of person? If I did like her like that, trust me, I’d be more bold about it”. He said so as a matter of factually. Nothing more was said, but Hanako hoped his attitude was enough to drop this specific conversation. It was a touchy subject. Not the best one to bring up when his own idea of love was sorta screwed, special thanks to his parents. He’d then attempt to direct the topic to Burnett. With his grin slightly returned, he turned back to Burnett with a teasing voice. “ Are you interested in her? You seem to think of her favourably. Cmon, Burnett no need to be shy. I can keep a secret~”

When he had mentioned his and Dee’s passionate bond in arguing, Hanako chuckled, not entirely surprised. “ No, we do. She just wins most of them. Um, okay all of them. Hah, what do you think that says about my intelligence? Now that you mentioned it earlier”. He asked lightheartedly, confident whatever Burnett may say would not affect him in the slightest. Hanako had always been more on the slow side, and he refused to hide such a fact. Allowing his general laziness to fully contribute to that conception of him. Regardless, he was interested in seeing Burnett comment on it, if he would.

After Jack accepted Hanako’s request, he received another grateful smile, but no ‘thank you's, as if it was an expected approval.

Lastly, Jack asked if becoming a better person had helped Hanako’s and Percival’s relationship. All these questions about them is starting to make Hanako sorta guilty he couldn't give two shits about Jack and Flash when Burnett seemed so interested in his and Percival's. But oh well, guilt comes and goes. This would be one of them. At least it was a question Hanako wouldn’t mind answering. It slipped Hanako’s mind that this could essentially be the same thing as talking about Percival, something Hanako was less inclined to do earlier. But Jack seemed to be asking more about Hanako’s perspective as the main question, and Hana usually wouldn't pass up a chance to talk about himself.

Oh, certainly helped. We wouldn't be rooming with one another if we were still mad at eachother. I’ve taken steps I don’t think I ever would before. Apologising for mistakes, is one. Never thought friendships were worth trying to fix. And you know, I like pretending to be in the right, even when I’m wrong.” he admitted with a shameless shrug. ” I’m not actively pushing him away anymore. When we were 1st years, whenever he tried to open up about something I would uh” he rubbed the back of his neck nervously ” sorta flat out ignored him. Or else he would have expected me to do the same. And I wasn't ready for that before. It's different now though. And we know each other better now but it’s uh…” its not going well but there's no way he could say that to Burnett after earlier.

A few seconds of silence later, Jack would receive another one of Hanako’s mischievous grins. “ Ahhhahahhaa sorriieeesssss, you’re free trial for ‘A Glimpse In Hana’s Thoughts’ has expired. Please hand over your Hana token if you wish to continue to Part Two ” after his wonderful impression of his ‘siri’ voice, he extended his hand. Expecting a Hana token Jack certainly doesn't have as of yet.

Would Burnett even understand what Hana was doing with his relationship with Percival? At best, he was preserving a wonderful friendship, at worst- he was avoiding anything that made it a genuine one. But he didn’t need their relationship to be genuine. He could wish for more all he wanted, but by the end of the day, all he needed was Percival to be there with Hanako. Exactly by his side. And if it meant only engaging in conversations Hanako was 110% it was going to end well, then so be it.

Jack reached over to flick Hanako in the forehead with his forefinger and thumb when the Japanese teen said he charged 12 sickles per cookie. He listened to Hanako talk about Percival and smiled slightly when the former asked if admitting the latter was a friend was too mind-boggling. "It is pretty mind-boggling," he admitted, "but if you're able to make and keep friends, good for you. Prince must have really taught you a lot."

He smirked as Hanako told him to sit through one of Dealla's lessons before telling him if she was chaotic or not. Maybe he would. Maybe he'd have to ask her if she knew how to have and keep a friend sometime. He doubted she could help him with his problems regarding friendship, but who knew? It was worth a try. "So let me get this straight. You're an experiment to her?" he chuckled. "Like Stitch? Experiment 626?" That was cute.

"Plenty of people would do a worse job. Like Hufflepuffs, yeah. They'll just make you all sweet and mushy and wanting to hug everyone all the time, I'll bet."

Sighing heavily at Hanako's comment that there was no real way of avoiding the cost of it, Jack nodded. "If you can accept that cost and not worry about losing their trust all the time, then that's good. I guess I worry too much to make friends that easily." He grinned and snorted when the other Slytherin made clear that he wasn't seeking new friends all the time - that even if Dee helped, she wasn't a miracle worker. "I don't know, Tone. I'd say getting you to improve even that much is a miracle in itself."

When Hanako's demeanor completely changed after suggesting he was in love with Dealla, Jack almost fell off his broom. He grasped it quickly and sat himself back upright, putting up a hand in defense. "Alright, alright, I'll be more careful with that word. No, I can't see you as a dating sort of person." But then he smirked again. "What do you mean, 'more bold'? Like when you're under the effects of amortentia?" He doubted anyone could claim Hanako wasn't bold then. But then the question was turned on him about whether he liked Dealla.

"Don't make me tackle you from your tree," he warned playfully. "Prince is smart and pretty, don't get me wrong," Jack said, staring at the ground beneath them. "But...there's already someone else I like. Still, if you don't want to talk about the subject of liking people like that, then I won't."

He laughed aloud when Hanako admitted that Dealla won all of their arguments. Yep, that sounded like Dealla, alright. "Hey, the fact that you can even try to argue with her in the first place is impressive. She's a tough opponent."

Jack listened carefully when his peer answered his question about him and Percival, explaining that they had reconciled and how. He snickered lightly at Hanako's admission that he liked pretending to be right even when he was wrong. That sounded accurate, as well as how the Japanese Slytherin described himself being like in his first year. But at least it sounded like Hanako and Percival got along better now. For the most part. Maybe. "It's still rough going?" Jack tried to finish for him. But Hanako had other ideas.

He informed Jack that his 'free trial for 'A Glimpse In Hana's Thoughts' had expired' and that he needed to 'hand over his Hana token' for 'Part Two'. Jack just smiled and shook his head, taking all that to mean Hanako was done sharing his thoughts on the subject. Well, it was more than he had been willing to talk about his dormmate before. That was something.

"Okay, I get it. I don't have any Hana tokens," he confessed, holding up both palms to prove it. "It was nice to talk to you like this though, Tone. I appreciate the 'free trial'." He beamed at the other boy with genuine gratitude. "I guess I better get going, then, since I did what I came here to do. I'll leave you to your nap. Just don't roll over and fall out of the tree."

Ouch- HEY!” Forehead flicks. A heinous crime against humanity. And Hana showed just how much when he briefly covered his poor forehand with his free hand. “ Kid on a tree here, in case you forget, Mr Wow-Look-At-Me-I’m-On-A-Flying-Broom” Chidlishly, Hana stuck his tongue out as a last laugh. Though he seemed to drop it immediately soon after Jack continued. “ hmm… I guess so..” It was an odd time and place to be reminiscing about his past when just moment ago, he wanted to push Burnett off his broom. It didn’t feel as bad as he thought it would.

Jack oddly enough, didn’t seem too fazed at the random digits of numbers being Hanako’s nickname from Dee. “Who?” Hanako tried to think what on earth made Burnett say such a sudden thing. Hazy images only came to mind, none enough to deduct whatever the heck he just said. “ What does.. Sewing have anything to do with her weird nickname for me. But yea I suppose she does see me as an experiment. OooOO bad kid turns good, how original, truly”.

Hearing Jack’s suggestions on what Hufflepuffs would do if they were Decent Human Behavior Teachers easily pushed Hanako to let out a pearl of laughter. Possibly the best one he had in a while. One where he had to stay closer to the trunk of the tree to avoid falling off. “ HADFHBHSFD, Ooohhh yes, I knew you’d get it. Ahhh oh nooo hugsss! The painnnnnn the tortureeee~” he dramatically wailed through sniffles of chuckles. Nothing like bonding over Hufflepuff jokes to brighten his day.

Jack then talked about the possibilities of him overthinking, which was met with a prolonged silence from the Japanese boy at first. Getting Hanako to think before speaking should be something to receive an award for. Whatever the reason, Hana just didn’t want to speak carelessly. “Well, if its to protect yourself, I would say its worth keeping it that way. Always better than jumping into it when you know you’re not ready.” he commented, his tone devoid of its usual playfulness. When Jack mentioned about overthinking, Hanako’s mind wandered back to Percival. With how much hidden rules and regulations he made to ‘save’ their friendship, was it just another form of overthinking?

The urge to question his uncertainty regarding his dive into his relationship with Percival almost overwhelmed him, but he cleared his throat and showed Burnett another mischievous grin. “ Well, I mean. Would be a great shame for these nicely crafted tokens if you stopped using them, right?” The token that previously hidden in Hanako’s palm showed itself for a few seconds before hiding again. Then Jack said something about it being a miracle to Hanako. The boy ignored his urge to ask just how bad he was when he was younger to made Burnett think like that. Simply because he already knew the answer.

When Burnett questioned what Hana meant by being ‘bold’, something sparked in the Japanese boy. Enough to make him show a sly grin. Hanako kept his eyes locked on Burnett with the same intensity he showed towards duelist opponents who in his professional opinion, were easy on the eyes. It wouldn’t be too hard. Perhaps some of the amortentia still affected a part of his brain. In contrary to his previous attempts to avoid anything that reminded him of the disastrously embarrassing Tea Party, for the next few short seconds, Hanako allowed his mind to fully run wild. In other words, appreciating what he’s seeing. “ Would you like a demonstration~?” He teased slowly. Rule number #1 in Wooing 101, ‘ eye contact, very important ‘. Thanks, Labraouder.

Hanako realised a little later it was easier to keep eye contact when he’s checking out duelling opponents. He could appreciate the view while watching out for the next spell. Burnett however, was unarmed (so far). However, pushing Hanako off this tree was a very easy task for him. An action Hanako didn’t want to provoke. Having enough fun from his short lived teasing, Hanako broke out of character and laughed. “ PPsdffttttahahah kidding kidding~. You probably had more than enough of a demonstration, huh? We got to admit bold is too tame of a word to call however I acted at the tea party. You didn’t see how I asked out my date for mid spring? The howlers were sorta bold. I would say it’s more like when you were under amortentia. From what I saw maybe you have a hidden bold side. Or are you...” he skeptically looked at Burnett. “..Shy?” adding shy as a description of Burnett didn’t seem real. Or possible in any shape or form.

Jack’s question wasn’t really answered, considering Hana had no answer. This was all mere theories he deducted from how he already personally acted. Maybe shy was something he could use before, considering he was terribly allergic to forming any sort of close relationships before. Now that it was sorta out of the way, ‘bold’ seemed more fitting. Someone actually had to attract his attention enough for him to test this ‘bold’ theory out. He doubted amortentia was a good way to tell. Percival was the closest, but it’s normal to want to kiss your close friends sometimes. That was the only thing that supported Hana’s theory, but hey it was something. It was also something Burnett didn’t need to know about. Thankfully, Hana’s attempt to change the subject was successful enough. A bit too much, because he almost couldn't believe what came out of Burnett’s mouth next.

Image posted by the member

“ …. Wait you’re telling me we could’ve been sharing crush stories if I ..” Hanako trailed off, due to brain malfunction. Main cause: the urge to know whose the charming unlucky person that attracted Burnett’s attention, and a dash of regret. Ok, wait now hold on- Hana couldn’t give two shits. But also, someone gotten Burnett to like them??? Mister I-Use-Tokens-To-Remind-People-I’m-Not-Their-Friend!? Such powerful wooing powers! Now that information was interesting, and Hanako failed to hide the fact from his face. Should he be taking notes from this mysterious person? Once he was done :0-ing, he laughed a bit. “ Wow. I’m not sure if you’re just pulling my leg. But if you’re not, then you caught my attention. I still stick to what I said though, so maybe next time”. His urge will soon fade with time. One good interaction with Burnett didn’t warrant him to have a conversation with Hanako about love.

"Hey, the fact that you can even try to argue with her in the first place is impressive. She's a tough opponent."

The first reaction Burnett received was a slightly raised eyebrow, as if skeptically confused at his choice of words. “ Unexpected answer “, Hana managed to comment, though he said no more. ‘Impressive’ wasn’t the usual term he heard about him. Impressively stupid, yes. Jack's tone didn’t indicate any of that, though. Odd. But this wasn’t the first unexpected thing he witnessed today during their conversations. Hanako kept what he said in mind.

Jack then stated something about leaving. “ Aww..already?” The words slipped out before Hanako knew it. “ Erm, I mean pshhhh finally. Of course you had a good time. I’m a wonderful conversationalist” he said so as a matter of factly. “ Ahh, falling off a tree, huh? Wow, really. I never would have guessed. No one ever told me that, thanks for opening my eyes to a new world, Burnett”. Sarcasm dripped from his tone as he dramatically looked over the branch he was sitting on as if sharks were swimming under it. Like hello, this wasn’t his first time sleeping on a tree. “ Or was that a jab at my sleeping habits?” Sleeping habits as in like, Hana’s tendency to roll off his bed whenever he sleeps. A normal tid bit Severus Snape kid’s would have known if they cared. However this time, he didn’t have a witty comeback, therefore he said this instead;

Anyways, scadadle.” he shooed Burnett away gently. “Before I start reciting the thoughts I had while I was under amortentia. You want me to start with your eyes? “.

"Oh, I didn't forget," Jack laughed back when Hanako reminded him he was a kid on a tree. The intensity of his laughter only increased when Hanako started getting confused about the name 'Stitch' and asking what it had to do with Dee's nickname for him.

"'Stitch' is a character from a movie. Well, several movies. And shows," he tried to explain. "His name is Stitch, but he is also known as 'Experiment 626'. He starts off bad, but learns to get better as a little girl named Lilo becomes his friend and teaches him how to be good. I'm pretty sure that's why Prince is comparing you to him." He grinned. "I'll have to make you watch the movies and shows sometime. Or at least show you a picture of him. That's a pretty decent comparison Prince made between you and Stitch."

He grinned broadly when Hanako burst into laughter at the comment about Hufflepuffs. "It's true, though! You know it is!" Jake was plenty enough proof of that, Jack was sure.

Hanako surprised Jack with his wise words when stating that if it was to protect himself, it was worth keeping it that way. That it was better than jumping into it when he knew he wasn't ready. Even more astonishing was Hanako seemed to say such things seriously. It was amazing how quickly the boy's demeanor could change depending on what they were discussing.

For example...the sly grin that soon after appeared on the young man's face and the sudden intensity in his gaze. Even just one of those signs always meant trouble to Jack and he balked at the sight of both of them, swallowing hard. "N-no, that's okay, thanks," he said, putting his palms up in surrender as he tried to balance on his broom without either hand holding on.

But a few seconds later, Hanako was laughing again, assuring his peer that he was kidding. "Seriously," he answered when Hanako suggested he probably had more than enough of a demonstration.

He listened as the Japanese boy mentioned how he'd asked out his date for the Midspring Festival and shook his head, for he had not. "Howlers? You used howlers?!" he exclaimed. "Aren't you only supposed to use those when you're angry at someone?" He couldn't imagine how one would utilize them to ask a date out for a ball. If Hanako had managed it, though, then he must have been pretty resourceful.

When he was asked if he was shy, Jack reddened slightly as he put out his palm to shove Hanako's face away and looked aside as well, not wanting to meet his dormmate's eyes. "I don't know! Asking people out isn't really my thing! Nor is romance or flirting! I'll just leave all that stuff to you, especially since you seem to be such a pro at them."

He promptly clasped a hand over Hanako's mouth, though, when the other began to spout nonsense about sharing crush stories. "NO! No crush stories!" Jack cried, his face turning redder by the second. "There won't be a next time, either, so keep that attention to yourself! It's nothing to get excited about."

The black-haired boy seemed shocked by Jack's calling him impressive, but Jack really thought so and he smiled at Hanako's comment that it was unexpected. What Jack found unexpected was Hanako's reaction to him leaving, as if he wanted him to stay longer. He stared at the Japanese boy in confusion before his ear-to-ear grin returned.

"I'm sure we'll get to talk to each other again soon. Probably sooner than either of us would like considering we practically live together." He smirked. "And didn't you have to tie yourself to the tree when you first used to sleep in these? Where's that security rope gone now? You fell out of bed often enough if I recall right."

But then he was being shooed off with a threat and Jack laughed again. "No, no, that's okay! I'm leaving, I'm leaving! Bye!" And with a wave, he flew off once more.
