─────Rubbing at her eyes, Avery flips her textbook closed with a sigh of relief. Pushing aside the parchment containing her the notes she'd spent the last couple of hours on, the Hufflepuff closes her eyes and leans forward to rest her forehead against the textbook. Her arms lift to rest across the table on either side of the book. She remains unmoving for a few moments. Magic was fascinating, sure. But oh was it exhausting to learn.

After allowing herself a moment to just relax and not have to think about the intricacies of transfiguration, Avery finally lifts her head from the table. She stretches both arms out with a quiet groan as some of the tension releases. Dropping her arms back down, the first year begins to gather up the handful of books and notes she'd brought along with her. She was quickly coming to realize that she might have to invest in a satchel for the next school year if the workload was to going to be like this for the next few years.

Once she'd stacked the handful of books and had the notes somewhat haphazardly stuck between the pages of the current chapters she was researching, she pushes her chair back and rises. Avery gathers the books in her hands, cradling them to her chest as she uses one foot to push the chair back into the table. Taking a quick glance about to make sure she hadn't left anything behind, the Hufflepuff and turns makes her way towards the door.

Efelion had spent most of his day already learning his new classes, everything had been a bit overwhelming but he knew that it was what he had signed up for. His parents had told him over time that learning would become more natural and that the start of the first year would be the worse part for this overwhelming feeling. It seemed to him no matter how many notes he took down that there would never be any way for him to remember it all.

In saying that he wasn’t quite done, although the boy had taken down his notes it was now time to refine them in a better handwriting than what he had hastily scrambled down during his classes, for this purpose the boy had gathered his things and headed to the library, a place where he knew he could focus. Spending time with the few friends he had was great however it tended to be a distraction from his main goal which was gaining knowledge.

When he entered the main library it was, of course, quiet due to the rules but he also noticed that it was mostly empty, most would probably be spending their free time on the grounds right about now, waiting for there to be some sort of dinner at the great hall. It was the perfect time to go to a study room within the library. The chances of there being many other people in there would be very little at this time in the afternoon.

As he walked through the shelves slowly he held his bag to his side, making sure to not damage any of the shelves on his way through before getting to the door for the study room. Efelion turned the handle and pushed it as he knew they sometimes got a little stuck. The push was enough to force to open the slightly jarred door but also enough to send him stumbling through with more force than he thought that he had given.

Efelion lost his balance a little bit and stumbled through the door as a book or two left his half-open bag as he accidentally collided with someone on the other side. The boy lost his footing when they connected and he fell backward onto the ground his bag landing beside him, still slung on him but now slightly tangled. After he realized what had happened and his sense came back to normal he quickly scrambled to stand up, untangling the bag from around him as he stood.

“I am so sorry” He blurted out before even getting a look of who he had just barged straight into “I didn’t expect the door to open so easily normally they are rather stuck shut.”

─────Lost in her thoughts and mind moving at nearly half speed after all of the studying, Avery doesn't realize the door is rapidly swinging open until a heavy force collides with her head on. A surprised gasp manages to escape as the air is knocked from her lungs. Her grip on the text books goes slack in the face of her surprise, books and notes alike falling to the floor even as she falls backwards. When she's finally able to gather some of her senses, the Hufflepuff finds herself staring up at the ceiling. Well at least she was more awake now.

Slowly pushing herself up to a halfway upright position, Avery blinks dumbly at the boy rushing to his feet in front of her. His rushed apologies finally kick her mind back into gear. Shaking her head to rid herself of some of the dazed thoughts she finally sits up the rest of the way. "No real harm done," she finally says, offering a slight smile. She shifts on the floor so that she's kneeling before the scattered books and notes. "I was a little out of it, to be honest. I like to think I'd have fared a little better otherwise," she laughs quietly, still trying to fully regain her breath from the surprise.

Avery begins the arduous process of regathering some of the scattered parchment and stuffing them back into the books in no particular order. "Door stuck for me a little on the way in as well. So, just a bit of the 'wrong place wrong time' it seems, no hard feelings," she offers, pausing briefly to look to him. "Excited to study I take it?" she teases with a smile.

Efelion knew the feeling of being out of it as he was the same quite often, usually not thinking nor looking where he was going. It was something that he had tried to work on but in all honesty, was hard to shake off as he often found himself dissociated from reality and too much into his own thoughts while he wandered around.

“I am glad I am not the only one that tends to not be fully aware all of the time” Efelion replied endearingly to relate to what she had said to him, “I thought I was going mad when everyone else around me seemed so focused on things all the time.” It was something that he often worried about, that others may see him as some sort of airhead.

Efelion shook his head at her question about being excited to study, “To be honest nay that is not accurate, I was more just coming here because it beat all of the loud noises whilst trying to rewrite my notes cleaner” He admitted only after realizing she had been teasing him “I uh, I got that you were being rhetorical but only after so I apologize for that.” Efelion blushed for a little from his embarrassment but shook it off quickly.

He put his bag down and helped the girl start to gather her things from the ground. Following the same process that she was doing, putting random parchments into things to hold them “I’m Efelion by the way.” the boy spoke softly as he helped “My friends just call me Effy though.”

─────Avery nods her head along as the boy talks, briefly looking up from the scattered papers to offer a small smile. "I honestly don't really understand how people are able to stay so focused sometimes. I can barely manage it some days," she adds. As reluctant as she was to admit it at times, losing herself in her thoughts and bumping into objects or the occasional person was not at all uncommon.

The faint smirk grows a little brighter at the boy's explanation, having not picked up on her teasing right away. She hums an acknowledgement at his realization. "No need to apologize. I definitely get the need to try and get away from all the noise sometimes." She pauses a moment to smooth out a crumpled corner of one of the parchments before stuffing it into a book with the other notes. "I'm still trying to adjust to everything. My family are muggles, so it's been...an experience," she notes, chuckling nervously.

To be honest, she felt a little in over her head with everything. Sure, it was amazing to be able to perform magic, and she definitely enjoyed most of the entirely new subjects she was able to learn now, but it was such a different world to what she'd always known. The Hufflepuff assumed it'd take some time to adjust to life on a farm to one in a castle. As the boy crouches down to help finish gathering the notes, she offers a sigh of relief.

"Thanks for the help. My brain is pretty fried, wound up spending longer than I'd wanted trying to get everything written out." Satisfied all of the papers have been gathered, she moves to stand with the books clutched once more in hand. "Good to meet you then, Effy. Though hopefully next time will be a little less jarring," she jokes, grinning. "I'm Avery." With the introduction, she struggles a moment as she shuffles the books in her arms a little to half extend a hand to shake.
