The excitable girl before her was quite adorable, if Farron had a little sibling she would hope she'd be as bright a star as June. She placed the book down on her desk, giving June her full attention. She would probably read it in one setting. "You're very sweet. My job is to make learning Astronomy fun and exciting, and I'm glad to have achieved that. I do think I have the best classroom, don't tell Professor Wickham-Deakin, but I'm glad I'm not in the basement with no light like potions. I'm not going away anytime soon, so I hope I can watch you excel through seven years."

June talked about her father like Farron would talk about hers. Proud and excited to be related to him, and never bypassing a chance to brag about them. "I've always been favorable to the Thundelarras Thunderers rather than the Wollongong Warriors. I do miss home, I haven't been back since I was 16. My father and I live in London. Well, I don't- anymore. I live here. But yes, I miss Australia. It's a place that is unmatched in scenery, but I might be biased. But, no worries. I won't owl home and let him know you think this isn't his best one. I'm just as excited to read it. I'm quite a sucker for nighttime descriptions, the way people describe stars and the moon is always beautiful. I bet he did a great job." She paused, looking down at the gifts.

Farron never thought that she would be in a place where she was a Professor at a prestigious wizarding school. When she got the letter to come to Hogwarts she was incredibly nervous, it was a big job with high expectations and she never thought that she could fulfill them. But maybe, just maybe, she was doing alright. "I really- do appreciate these. Thank you so much June." For a couple weeks after this interaction the flowers would be on display on her desk until they naturally passed on. And even then she probably kept them displayed a couple days more than advisable.

Astronomy. Astrology. Fortune telling. If there were any differences between the three, they look exactly the same to Aurora. Based on the sappy muggle movies and songs, she couldn’t remember how many times she heard astrology references as something romantic or sad. ‘Our stars are never aligned’, ‘It’s astronomy, we’re two worlds apart’. Blame those muggles to make her believe that somehow stars could give her a sign. She once tried to make the stars make sense, though failed miserably. They said if you link the dots, you can see the resemblance of some signs, but all she saw were dots, and more dots, sparkling dots. What was the meaning? The stars were winking at her? Were they flirting? That just created more question marks in her mind.

She hadn’t got the chance to talk to professor Astronaut, the previous astronomy professor. It was too late for that since she believed that he moved to mars a long time ago to bond with the aliens. But now Hogwarts welcomed a new one. Honestly looked much friendlier and more welcoming, perhaps she could answer one or two questions.

It would be inappropriate to bombard a professor whilst walking in her office empty handed. So Aurora brought a chocolate bar with her. A milky one, with jelly beans inside, hopefully would cheer up the professor’s mood if the girl’s presence would be deemed too bothersome. Then she knocked at the door. “H-Hi! It’s Aurora Ranvier, a second year Ravenclaw standing outside of your office!”

It was so close but so far from the end of the school year. She planned on going to visit her father in London before summer camp. To regale him with all of the stories she had left out of owls. To sit and chat and have tea with her family and friends that she had left. While it hadn't been that long. It had been the longest time she had spent away from her dad in awhile. After her mom died there was something in her that didn't want to move out, and he never pushed her to. They cohabitated up until this point in her wizarding adventure.

But, it was not summer yet, and she was still a responsible professor holding study hours for students. The door was open, wide open really. Anyone could walk in and see that there were other students and Farron milling about. So when someone knocked and announced themselves, it took Farron by surprise. She looked around seeing if she was hallucinating but a couple of other students had looked towards the door. As she rounded the door, she did indeed see the young girl that announced herself quite nervously. "Hello there Aurora. You know you can just come in during study hours, right? No need to be so formal. But, can I help you with something?" She stepped off to the side with the girl so as to not block the door from students coming and going.

With the door wide open, yet she still knocked on it. It wasn’t formality, it was just her awkwardness level that was beyond normal level. Truth be told, the professor’s hair was incredibly stunning. The girl wrote a mental note to ask for her hair routine after the whole constellation questions abomination. “Ah- yes. I guess I am embarrassed to ask you during class time when there are other students around, sorry about that.” She looked down, feeling nervous about what she had to say next. A girl full of curiosity, she could ask from the creation of the stars to alternate universes. Probably those were written in the school books, she wouldn’t know since Aurora was never the type to drown in books. As she would say, books gave her a bad allergy. It was still up in the air whether the statement was true or not but the source herself wasn’t credible.

Blame her feelings for a certain boy. It made her do silly things such as asking a professor about her love life. She lived in the wizarding world, if there were spiders made of shadow, some must have been born psychic and maybe the person who possessed the ability was standing right in front of her. “I heard about-uh-horoscope com-compatibility” She paused a little, “J-just wondering if that’s a real thing or is there any way to know if we are compatible with someone through constellations or something? Is it astronomy or is it something else?” Aurora then gave the professor the chocolate bar and jelly beans as a gift or an apology, depending on her response. “Also I hope you fancy chocolate and candy”

This wasn't the first time someone had come to her slightly embarrassed of what they needed to talk about. Last time it was George Henry, and well he didn't exactly- come to her. But they ended up talking about something he needed to get off his chest, even though he didn't really know he needed to get it off his chest. It was times like this when she mildly regretted gutting the office and turning it into a little play pen for her ferret, Stinkbug. The students deserved privacy and she could hardly offer that in the hallway, classroom, or observation deck really.

Farron peered in and spotted a couple of the responsible students that she trusted more than some others. She pulled Aurora away from directly in front of the entrance, so at least passing students would be mostly out of earshot. Not to say that people couldn't eavesdrop. But, hopefully they wouldn't. "That's quite alright, if you ever want to come outside of office hours just pop me a quick owl and we'll figure it out. Then you won't have to worry about the others milling about either." She gave the young Ravenclaw an encouraging smile, she knew even owling Professors could be intimidating but it was up to the students to follow through with the permission.

The Astronomy Professor really wasn't surprised by the line of questioning. Often astrology and astronomy crossed paths and got confused. She didn't have to be the Divination Professor to see the line of questioning about compatibility coming from love-struck teenagers in the midst of high stress and rampant hormones. The candy was handed over before she could formulate a response, and luckily the Professor did have a bit of a sweet tooth. Especially for jelly beans. "Oh that is so sweet of you, just as sweet as the candy. Thank you Aurora." The candy was tucked away in her skirt pocket before he made herself comfortable leaning on the cold stone wall. Her eyes drifted upwards in thought, trying to figure out how to explain this delicately and concisely.

"Horoscope compatibility falls into astrology rather than astronomy. Astronomy is more- evidence based, astrology more... anecdotal I suppose. Though some would argue that it is a science. Without astronomy you can't have astrology." She sighed wistfully, thinking of the many failed relationships she had had throughout the years of her schooling. Ever since moving to London she had gone on dates here and there, but nothing that lasted more than a few months. "It would be nice if there was a precise science to this, affection can be tricky and hard to figure out. Especially when you're still learning about yourself. Tell me, if you were to like someone," Farron paused and glanced down, giving the girl a cheeky wink. Ah, hypotheticals. "what would draw you to them? You don't know their birthday or their sign, just who they are. What do you think would make you two compatible? There are no wrong answers, and this isn't some sort of pop quiz. I promise."

Horoscopes are astrology. But without astronomy, you can’t have astrology. So, horoscopes are also astronomy. Noted. The professor’s wink took her off guard, she must’ve known that Aurora was head over heels for someone. Psychic. “Well, I know his birthday and sign, he’s a Taurus, I’m a Leo” Some believed that star sign is the window of the world. There are tons of predictions based on the planet’s positions which she did not understand. Maybe there were some truths behind it, but she just couldn’t see how the placement of Jupiter would affect her exam score. But again, knowing that she used to believe that magic did not exist, maybe the planets also had these unknown enchanted rays that could affect people’s life.

Her and Nicholas didn't always get along with each other. Seeing how their relationship was a year ago, no one would suspect that they would end up like this. “He’s annoying, but he’s also really… endearing?” What was she thinking? Telling a professor about her love life, making herself turning into a blushing mess. “He’s really grumpy most of the time, but he’s actually really caring and funny” From her perspective, he was kinder when no one else was around which sometimes triggered her overthinking brain. “I think he’s compatible with me, but I don’t know if I am compatible with him, does that make sense? Like, for example, even though he’s annoying, he makes me really happy, and I don’t know if I make him happy.” It seemed like her brain was just programmed that way. No matter how hard she reassured herself that things were fine or going to be just fine, the girl couldn’t stop herself from imagining the worst case scenario. “I just overthink a lot, I’m overthinking right now because I don’t want to make you feel like ‘oh this girl is crazy, I’m not a therapist why is she talking about her problem haha’ I’m sorry, do I make you feel that way?”
