Ebony was a morning person; she liked to wake up early before class and enjoy herself. This usually was working on her art, but today she decided to head up to the Owlery and send a letter to her parents. The Owlery wasn't that far away; it was in the West tower, just like her dorm room, so it didn't take much time to drag herself there. She had written a letter the night before, so she brought that along with her too.
When she arrived at the Owlery, she stood there for a few moments, enjoying the gentle breeze, with the letter in hand. But really, the Owlery isn't that pleasant of a place to enjoy the weather, since the amount of owls fluttering around were overwhelming, and there were droppings and leftover meals everywhere; if she wanted to do this she would go down to the lake or even stay in her dormitory and look out the window instead.
Remembering she had a purpose here, Ebony chose one of the school owls and gave it the letter, patting the owl on the head. The owl blinked at her and flew out the window. The figure of the owl shrank until she couldn't see it any more.

It was a crisp and cool summer morning. Quite foggy out to say the least. The air was getting colder as we were about to approach autumn soon. I woke up to a faint tap on my window. I groaned as I was still half asleep and got out of bed to see what the tapping on her window was. It was one of the school owls and it was gripping a letter in its beak. I reached out to take the letter from the owl . It was a letter from my quill pal telling me to meet her at the Owlery. I pulled out my quill and ink off my desk and decided to write her a short and quick note back to let her know I was coming.
It's quite alright! No worries!
I finished the note and quickly enclosed it in an envelope and gave it to the owl to send back. I watched as the owl flew away and then, I couldn't see it anymore. I got dressed and picked up my wand off my side table and prepared to get ready to leave my dorm.Dear Ebony,
It is so good to hear from you. I will meet you in the Owlery in a few minutes.
I cannot wait to see you and talk about the upcoming school year.
Much love,
Allison

Ebony was soon going to stop "enjoying" the wind and exit the stinky Owlery when an owl flew in through the open gap that was a window with a letter clamped in its beak. Ebony reached out and grabbed the envelope, seeing it was Allison's reply. She peeled it open carefully and read what it said. Ebony hadn't meant to pick such a bad place to meet, but since she was here and Allison was coming there was no going back.
She paced around, careful where to place her every step since there were droppings and animal bones scattered all over the ground, and even though she wasn't usually freaked out by these things, such a large amount was quite astonishing. There was a spider in a faraway corner lurking, and Ebony was sure there were a lot more somewhere.
She couldn't comprehend getting an owl as they would have to visited all the time here, and they were somewhat annoying to take care of. She would much rather something more independent, like a cat. Ebony pondered the possibility of getting a pet, even though her interest in animals weren't that high.
Ebony went back to the window as she enjoyed the cool wind that was constantly flowing from it; the place was chilly compared to other places like classrooms or dorms but Ebony liked the cold. It was one of the only good things about the Owlery.

When I got dressed, I made sure to put on something warm as it seemed like it was going to be a little cold. I put on what I normally wear (my Gryffindor school robes) and included a scarf with my house colors on it. I quickly made my way to the Owlery because I didn't want to keep my friend waiting on me. I made sure to leave early because the Gryffindor Common Room was on the Fifth Floor. I had a bit of a further walk but I was ok with it because I needed exercise anyways.
I finally approached the Owlery and walked up the stairs. Ebony was standing near a window and looked up when she saw me. She was waving at me and I walked towards her. I couldn't believe how many owls were in here (I have never been in the Owlery before but its good reason I haven't because I'm only a 2nd year student). It was so loud because of all the screeching. Finally, all the commotion seemed to have died down and the room was a lot quieter.
"Hi Ebony! I saw you got my reply to your owl. How've you been lately?" I asked. While I was waiting for her to answer, an owl flew up next to me and started nudging against me like it wanted to be pet. I reached out to pet it and its feathers felt like I was touching silk. I didn't like how the Owlery smelt (cause of all the animal droppings and bones everywhere) but once you live around animals, you get used to it and I wonder if they use any sort of cleaning spell to keep the room tidy).

Ebony turned around as the door abruptly swung open and Allison walked in. I waved to her to come closer. Before she came, the owls were abnormally loud, screeching into my ear, but everything was peaceful again. Well, apart from the droppings and bones on the floor, but that was a normal thing for the Owlery.
Allison reached to an owl to pet it. She was so good with them. Ebony liked animals, but they just never seemed to like her back. As she reached towards an owl herself, it eyed her for a second and then flew away. Ebony sighed. "I've been doing fine. Homework load has still been so heavy though. I'd have thought, at the beginning of the year they'd let us off a bit. But I guess not," she said, replying to Allison's question. She tore her gaze away from the owls and looked at Allison. "And you? How are you? I feel like we haven't talked in decades," she laughed, dropping her gaze to the floor where there was a piece of bone lying. She deftly kicked it away, wrinkling her nose. Never a fan of this stuff. "It's quite unpleasant in here, isn't it? The next time, I should pick a more decent spot than this. They never even bother cleaning this place," Ebony commented to Allison, attempting to pet an owl again.

After starting our conversation, I asked Ebony how she was doing. "I've been doing fine. Homework load has still been so heavy though. I'd have thought, at the beginning of the year they'd let us off a bit" she said.
"Me too. The homework load definitely is a lot heavier than last year. I think a lot of students are going to take Calming Draughts to ease anxiety. I've had to stay up a lot studying so I can get things done. It's a bit stressful but I try to not stay up extremely late so I don't fall asleep in my classes." I said while kicking a bone away from me that was near my feet. I wrinkled my nose. I couldn't believe the smell.
"I'm sorry that we haven't talked much. I pretty much live in the library. I'm in there a lot doing homework. Anyways, It is quite unpleasant in here. I agree. I was just in here last week sending a letter to my family back home. I miss them" I said. I watched as Ebony attempted to pet an owl again. She told me that they didn't bother ever cleaning the Owlery and quite frankly, I agree based on the condition of the room.

Ebony drew out a pencil that she always carried with her and twirled it in her hand, leaning against the wall, careful not to touch any droppings. "I know right! There's so much homework this year, I wonder what it'll be like in our OWL and NEWT years," she replied, sighing. The homework load was getting to her, though she still left some to the last minute or undone. It was just too much.
As Allison commented about Calming Draughts and stress, Ebony nodded her head in agreement and watched her kick away a bone, privately thinking again that she picked the worst possible place to chat. The dungeons were unpleasant too, but not quite as unsanitary as the Owlery. "Calming Draughts? Surely the stress isn't so big that students have to take potions? Though, it might be just because I don't try to do all my homework in one day. I usually leave it till the end," she said, grimacing, kicking away a piece of bone herself and stepping over a dropping.
"Ugh, I'm sorry for this. Next time we should go somewhere like the Grounds, where there's fresh air. And I'm sorry I haven't been talking much either. Yeah, the workload is heavy," Ebony said, sniffing the air and wrinkling her nose as well.

I noticed while we were talking that Ebony had a pencil in her hand. She told me she always had one with her. I believe that she's smart to do so as you never know when you'll need to write something down. I should get into that habit. We then got onto the topic of our OWLS and NEWTS.
Ebony was replying to something I'd said about our homework load and she said "I know right! There's so much homework this year, I wonder what it'll be like in our OWL and NEWT years" she said. "Me too, Ebony. I heard they are quite difficult. I don't really have a good idea of what I'd want to do after Hogwarts but I believe I still have plenty of time to research some career choices. I just know that there will have to be certain areas where I need to do well in order to move on to more advanced things. Procrastination is my worst habit and I'm hoping to break that habit but it'll be hard" I said.
She then proceeded to apologize profusely for the location of our meetup and I reassured her it was all ok because when it comes to friends, all I really care about is spending time with them no matter where the location is.

Letters and Friends [PV Allison Krug] | Procrastination

time: morning
location: owlery

mentioning/interactions: @Allison Krug

Ebony sighed at the mention of procrastination. "That is like, such a huge problem for me. Whenever I get to a piece of homework, I could only stand to do it for around an hour before I say I'll do it later. And I end up having to do it last minute. Ugh," she groaned, rolling her eyes just at the thought of it. Procrastination was her worst enemy. A habit much worse than spinning her pencil.
NEWTs and OWLs sounded horrible to her ears as well. Just because she was a Ravenclaw didn't mean she looked forward to taking these exams. "I can't even imagine being a fifth year. The homework must be so much, and I can barely handle it now. I suppose it's just a matter of my procrastination, though," she stated matter-of-factly.
"That's really sweet," Ebony swooned when Allison said she just wanted to spend time with friends, no matter where, "next time you should pick a location, though. I'll bet 10 galleons, if I had it, it'll be better than this one," she laughed somewhat humourlessly, starting to twirl her pencil again. She stared absent-mindedly out of the window, where there was an eagle flying past. She had always wanted wings, to fly so high, and for a moment she envied the eagle, who had the freedom to fly wherever it wanted. She bet it didn't have a habit of procrastination, either.

"I have that same problem. I'll start working on one assignment and then I'll get bored and work on something else and then I'll tell myself that I'll get back to it later and then I really don't" I said laughing. It's truly great to have a friend who thinks the same way I do especially when it comes to homework and the fact that procrastination was also her worst habit.
"I can't even imagine being a fifth year. The homework must be so much, and I can barely handle it now. I suppose it's just a matter of my procrastination, though," Ebony said. "
Girl, me too. I know exactly how you feel. I feel the same exact way so don't feel like you feel alone cause you don't. I feel the same. Exams give me anxiety." I replied back to her in sympathy and empathy.
I then mentioned that I didn't really care where I spent time with Ebony as long as I got to be with her and Ebony told me that it was really sweet of me to say that and she said I could pick where we meet up next time. I noticed as her eyes lingered over to the window and I walked over and stood next to her and we watched this really pretty eagle fly by.
