Heading toward home with AngelFyre McCubbin

Simon felt her grasp leave his hand and he turned around to see her head back toward Mia and Alexis, curious as to what it was she needed to say or do. He wasn't able to hear from where he stood and he watched as AngelFyre engulfed Mia up in a hug and then hurried back to his side, outstretching her hand to his. Simon gave a look toward Mia and Alexis who both just smiled a seemingly genuine smile before he looked down to his girlfriend's hand, placed his in it, and then looked up to her ocean blue eyes, exploring what that was about.

When they didn't tell him anything, at least no answer to the current question in mind, he just shook his head and the two began to walk. They were only a few steps out when he would have to ask. "So...what exactly was that about?" he asked her.

Simon had tried to quickly think of his own reasoning. Maybe she just wanted to be friendly. Maybe she was grateful that Mia Anderson was friendly in return. Maybe it was a Scottish sort of custom or something that he didn't understand.

He walked with her as they made their way from where they were just outside of South Kensington Station and toward home, where Aunt Maggie was sure to be finishing up the night's supper. That would soon near their first day together that Summer to an end, but Simon had figured that this particular day had been one of his best.

A post mortem on jealousy with @Simon Kincaid

Her mind and heart much more at ease, she smiled as Simon silently questioned her with his gaze. He smiled his own quizzically resigned smile and shook his head while grasping her hand. She knew he was dying to know what that had been about, and she knew she would tell him, but she wanted to see how long it would take him to ask. Based on past interactions, she estimated less than a couple of minutes.

She was right, but his curiosity was really piqued because he stopped within a couple of steps... not a couple of minutes. She released his hand and brought both of hers to either side of his face. Looking in wonder momentarily at every feature before fixing her gaze onto his, she tip-toed up and kissed him softly and sweetly for a period of time her father would be glad not to be witnessing, most likely. But it felt right and appropriate in the moment.

"Simon, so much happened today that you were utterly clueless about, and I will admit, much of it had me concerned. I learned a lot about you and even something about me in the process, but thankfully, all my worry was for naught."

Not surprisingly, he looked even more confused. She smiled up at him and took his hand into hers once more as they began to walk. She told him everything that had occurred with Mia, and how it had all felt so very suspicious to her. She admitted that it would normally have been something she would have brought to his attention immediately except that he had always made her more than a little uneasy about his feelings for Mia. "You always have this look in your eyes when you speak of her and a happy, nervous, goofy excitement in your voice that you have with no one else," and she stopped and turned to him, looking him directly in the eyes. "And that includes me. When you hustled me from your park this afternoon, it made me think you really did not want me to meet Mia.... or worse, you did not want her to meet me." AngelFyre got quiet for a few moments and looked away.

"I do not like feeling insecure about us. It does not happen often, but it makes me sick to my stomach when it hits. I feel stupid and angry with myself when I do feel insecure or jealous, but it is not like the feelings just appear out of whole cloth. And whether you, or even I, think there is no reason for me to feel jealous or insecure, it does nothing for me in the moments I am dealing with them." She turned and they started walking again.

They were both quiet for a bit before she continued," "Believe it or not, I like it that other girls find you attractive. That makes me feel good about myself because I know, 99% of the time, I am the one you "come home to" so to speak. I am not going to lie and say there have not been some rare occasions when your actions gave me pause and made me wonder if you would rather explore other options." She squeezed his hand tightly, but continued. "This sounds like blame, and believe me, love, it is not meant to be. This is just your girl being her practical self about a subject that is difficult to be practical about when it is a matter of the heart, especially her own, so I will just say a few things and hopefully you never have to hear them from me again."

"I recognize why, at least in part, my father is concerned about us. We are young. And it is because we are young, even I know and recognize what we have may not always remain with us as it is now. I still know with a surety in my heart we will end up together, but I cannot tell you that we will not have challenges along the way. Maybe we will not and nothing would please me more if that ends up being the case. But I want you to be as sure about it as I will be.... as I already am."
She could feel her tears bathing her eyes in warmth and was grateful they were looking ahead, and he could not see them, though she suspected he could hear the emotion in her voice.

"I ran back to hug Mia because, well, it is hard to explain, but it was a moment that my heart was full of pure gratitude and unselfishness. An idiot can tell the girl means something more to you than your friends Olivia and Alexis. Today, however, I got to see something I think you never have, and that was a realization of loss on her part. I will not lie. Her stalking of you today set my spider hairs on full alert. She, I believe now, has the best of intentions, but her actions had me wondering for a while. And her very interest and the way it was playing out scared me. I had a choice at one point to address it with you in the moment it was happening, but what your reaction to her might be was what scared me so I stayed silent." AngelFyre swallowed hard before continuing.

"I am not proud of that fact, but I am only human, too. Losing you, since meeting you, has always been my greatest fear, Simon. Keeping you, however, at any and all costs, would not be how I would want you. I am not certain she was certain what was happening with her while it was all going on, but I will tell you this in the spirit of full disclosure. She did mischaracterize her stalking today. She did not try to get your attention, even once, and she had a number of opportunities in which to do so. In fact, she even ducked into the shadows at one point when you turned her way." Once again she came to a full stop and turned to him, locking her gaze to his. "You always say she is the one who got away. Maybe it will interest you to know that on some level, Mia Anderson feels the same about you."

They started walking again, closing the distance to the lovely townhome with the soft mint-colored door and Simon's beautiful Aunt Maggie inside, waiting supper on them. "And then the love lock on the bridge happened and everything in me once again told me that the things I know I feel for and about you are not just one- sided. When you placed your hand on my heart and said our special words to each other, my doubts left me. It crosses my mind at times that maybe my feelings for you are 10 fold what yours may be for me. Again, me only being human. I am not asking for you to be or to do anything different. I just need you to understand what goes on inside of me. When you did not trip all over yourself at her presence and Mia and Alexis started joyfully reciting things I know had come to them from you, I figured some things out about you I should have probably caught onto much sooner," and she laughed. "Better late than never I guess, right?"

As they approached the front door, AngelFyre got her first glimpse of his home at night. It looked so warm and inviting, and whether the smells of delicious foods were coming from his townhome or the one next door, she could not tell, but she closed her eyes and breathed it all in deeply.

"This has been a fantastic day, my love. Truly. And I am quite honestly famished," and her eyes sparkled as she once again leaned up and into him for a soft kiss before he opened that iconic mint colored door.

Ending the first night and starting a new day with @AngelFyre McCubbin

Supper was wonderful as always and Aunt Maggie took into account of her nephew that held a fondness for steak above all and his vegetarian girlfriend. It was no bother to her either as she loved to cook nearly as much as she loved to bake - which was a lot. She was good at it too, and had been since Simon could remember, but lately her meals had stepped up even more so that she began dating a chef from one of London's restaurants. They had met at some bridal show and Simon envisioned it to be reminiscent of some sort of Hallmark movie.

Dinner had been full of conversation as Aunt Maggie fired off getting-to-know-you questions at AngelFyre beyond the basics of what Simon had told her, which, AngelFyre would find the reoccuring trend. Apparently so many in South Kensington knew far too much about and she could practically be deemed a local celebrity there.

Simon helped with the dishes and AngelFyre dried them and together they put them away, allowing Aunt Maggie to retire to the living room to read for a bit - her favorite hobby beyond work and helping others. When done, they spent time looking through some photo albums. [Ignore the one with a green-cast on the forhead, it wasn't there originally but came about when I compressed it to a gif file.]

As their evening came to an end, he walked her up the stairs and to the guest room. "Text me if you should need anything," he said and lingered there in the doorway. Part of him wanted to ask if she wanted to come to his room for the night so she could fall asleep in his arms. Aunt Maggie probably wouldn't know and if she did, she probably wouldn't care. Still, it felt a little like overstepping a boundary. "Goodnight, love," he whispered.

***

They would awaken the next morning and get ready for their day, accompanied with a breakfast made by Aunt Maggie. Simon was looking forward to today. Yes, he would show her a few more important places to him in London but today they would also go on the London Eye so she could get an above view of the City. They would take in a stop at The National Gallery as well where a lot of religious based paintings were always on display. He knew as someone one strong faith, this might appeal to AngelFyre as it always had to him.

Simon was sure to fit in lunch and snacks and fit in those random bits of information when he knew of one. Come early evening, they headed back to the house. "We're going to partake in my most favorite of events - sneak into the local theater. Usually they've got some classical or jazz going there, but once in a blue moon it's something a little more current or a headliner or even a play. That's the fun part of it, the element of surprise. We'll grab something at a cafe along the way, but I'm going to go change into something a little more dapper. You can change if you so desire, but you look amazing as is."

A Transformation for @Simon Kincaid

The day had been wonderful. She remembered to bring her Wizard Camera with her today, regretting very much having not busted it out before they left to meet Aunt Maggie yesterday. She especially missed not having it at the Millennium Bridge where they had placed their love lock. Simon captured them there with his cell phone afterwards, but the moving photo would have been especially nice. Still, she knew that was something that would stay with her as long as she lived, and maybe that is how the most important memories should be preserved. You needed to live them.... experience them... and etch them onto your heart and into your memory in that way.

Simon looked just the least bit uncomfortable when she pulled it out when they were on the London Eye. She only smiled at him and mouthed it would be okay. To anyone who would even care to give the girl with the vintage camera a second look, that is all they would think of it; that it was a vintage camera. Everyone was there to see the fantastic view; not pay attention to what she was doing. It was not as if she were going to develop any of the photos with the special solution in public to make the photos move, so no one would be the wiser. She may be crazy about her fella, but she was not "crazy". She knew the rules about using magic outside of Hogwarts and would never do anything to get either of them in trouble... especially him. Could she use her cell phone camera? Sure. But Simon had given her this particular camera and this particular camera was the one she was darn well going to use. She knew it was a great one because her mother, the professional photographer, was all kinds of impressed, and maybe just a little envious of it. She was especially blown away when she saw what the developing solution could do to photos. Yeah. All muggles were especially taken with talking portraits and moving photos.

The camera might be wonderful, but her photography skills left a little to be desired. In a rare occurrence, she managed to capture Simon in a moment when he was not smiling. The boy was always smiling, or so most anyone would think. She had irrefutable proof now to the contrary. The view was lovely, but when she looked a little more closely at the photo, it was obvious why he was not smiling. The sun. It was a completely bright, beautiful day. A day perfect for such an outing to most gentle folk, but a day definitely not suited for a gentle, handsome dhampir. " I so love this, but I do not love how bright it is for you right now," she said in a low voice as she wrapped her arms around him, trying to act as a block from the sun for him as much as she was able. Of course, the car was almost nothing but glass, so everything was reflecting and refracting around him.

"I did not come completely unprepared, Mr. Kincaid. I have some sunscreen lotion if you would like. I learned my lesson with you on our swim over spring break. I have that and some aloe vera if you want either. I shall never leave home without them in the future, of that you can be assured. My four forever staples shall be: water, lemon drops, sunscreen, and aloe vera."

Relief washed over both of them as they made their way to the National Gallery where they would be out of the sun. AngelFyre could have spent weeks in there and still would not have scratched the surface of everything that interested her within its walls. He was particularly keen on showing her the religious paintings and they spent a good long time looking at and discussing those. Some things he knew about them and some things she knew about others that she shared with him. Together they decided this would be a wonderful place of interest to both of them on future visits.

She was so intrigued when he explained what the game plan was for the evening. AngelFyre was an adventurous soul by nature. She always had been, but the truth of the matter was, she had also been a complete and utter stickler for rules her whole life. She did not care so much what others did, that was up to them, unless what they did would harm others or innocent creatures. So when Simon told her they would be sneaking into the local theater, her heart kind of froze for a few seconds. It took her less than 30 seconds to decide that she was going to be all in for whatever he wanted to do because she knew his heart and she knew this was not like a smash and grab, per se. She recalled him telling Grandma Ruth over Spring break that he even helped the paying customers out while he was there, so he was not completely free-loading.

Deciding that it was time to fully immerse herself in his life, she smiled and teased him." "So, I am not here even 48 hours and you are already on a mission to corrupt your innocent, law-abiding girlfriend. Tsk. Tsk. You do recall, do you not, that "Angel" is a part of my name, right?" And she laughed as he momentarily looked crestfallen, as if he believed she would not follow him anywhere he asked her to go. Silly boy. "I admit I am intrigued to see what "my bad boy" looks like exactly. I honestly cannot picture it. But if we get caught and in trouble.... it is going to be on you to explain to my very unimpressed father," and she nodded most emphatically with a quite sincere look on her face. It was completely bunk though. She knew she would take the brunt of whatever came at them from her father if trouble were to erupt from this. She did not see it being an issue though. By the sound of it, Simon had been doing this for years. He had his system down quite obviously. And honestly.... she simply trusted him.

"Yeah, no. You said the magic word. Dapper. I am going to change as well, then. I will meet you back here shortly," and she leaned over to give him a quick peck on his cheek before racing up the stairs. AngelFyre's heart was racing in addition to her legs. She was not, by any standard, a girly-girl, but that was something she was noticing was changing for her bit by bit when it came to Simon. Most of the time the amount of effort she put into her looks came to washing herself, brushing her teeth and flossing, combing and then brushing her hair while leaving it to air dry. No makeup as a general rule. She had been told a ridiculous number of times by people not related to her that she was a pretty girl, but again, that meant little to her.... until Simon. If anyone was worth some effort on her part, it was certainly him. Looking her best for him trumped her nervousness about the petty crime they were about to commit by a landslide.

She chuckled a little wondering if, in this case, her priorities were what they should be or not. Who knew? She was 12 and in love. Nothing about her thought processes were probably what they really should be by adult standards, but they only had this one time to be this young and this stupid. And if she was going to both, she wanted to be both with Simon.

Twenty minutes later, she made her way down the stairs and smiled as she heard him at the piano. As she came into view, she smiled brightly and spun around so he could take the whole transformation in before him. "Ta Da! Now I warn you. Have me back by the Twelfth of Never, my handsome prince, or I shall turn back into a pumpkin. No, wait. That was the carriage, right? Oh, then I guess I shall turn back into that tomboyish girl of yours. Now there is some incentive for you," and she just laughed, feeling rather pretty.... and liking it.

Heading to a concert with @AngelFyre McCubbin

He heard her approaching even before she said a word and he slowed the piece he was working on to a stop and looked over to her. To be perfectly honest, he was pretty sure she couldn't have looked more perfect because she was dressed up just formal enough that if it were a classical orchestra, she'd fit the audience but if it were something more current, she'd fall right into place as well.

Simon listened as she made a reference to Cinderella and shook his head, rising from the piano bench and joining her just a couple steps into the room. "Not incentive at all. You're perfect like this; you're perfect as that, you're always perfect in my eyes and a type of perfection you never need to worry about." It wasn't some high standard that she had to always keep up with. He knew that people had their flaws - himself included - and that too is what made everyone remarkable.

"When you tell your father about this, let's just talk about going to the theater and maybe not so much the sneaking in part. Something tells me, as harmless as it is, (which she would soon see), that he wouldn't appreciate it much."

"Now come on," he said as he reached his hand out for her to take. "I do realize that, yes, Angel is in your name, but so is Fyre. Let's got heat things up." They passed Maggie on their way out and Simon explained that they were going out and she didn't ask for a single detail, merely smiled at the young couple and told them to have fun.

Freedom.

It was a nice feeling. He knew that AngelFyre had comfort back at her home in Scotland when there, but it wasn't this anything can happen sort of freedom that he got to experience whenever he wanted. The world - or at least London - was his own to do anything he wanted with it - whether it was to skateboard wherever he wanted, trail off to spend hours in the Library, meet a vampire around midnight, or sneak into theaters for free shows and concerts.

He walked with her, hand in hand, down the street, and he playfully bumped himself into hers. She had absolutely no reason to be nervous if she was at all, but he was pretty sure she was having fun, even now. "I'm going to guess it's going to be some type of contemporary jazz," he told her. Not knowing and being surprised was half the fun.

They wouldn't see the signs out front with the show runner because they would be coming in at the back of the theater. They would be all too oblivious to the fact that there was a Grammy Award-winning Canadian pop star to perform that night.

Simon walked with her to the back of the building where several people were still bringing in sound equipment. Right there clued him off that this wouldn't be some wind ensemble or something like that filled with violins - not with that sound equipment.

To the left of the building, they began down a small alley and then there was a door that sort of looked like they had tried to close it off and he took the handle into his hands. "Here's where the magic is," he said and he jolted it gently to the left and then upward and a click could be heard. With that, he was able to effortlessly open the door. "After you, my love," he whispered. They would enter into what was a dressing room that had been long since occupied, but still kept up by the staff so it wasn't dreary and dusty. Once inside, he too her hand in the darkened room and they exited out into a hall, also pretty deserted for the busy theater. It would be once they came to the main hall where there would be a bustle of people and staff. "I know the best seats in the place but do you want a drink or anything first?" he asked as he turned to her.

Now they had absolutely nothing to worry about. Whatever event was going down in the theater that night was big. There were so many people, that one wouldn't question them at all. Before, they might find it curious that two teens be amongst a group of elderly for a symphony, but here they fit right in.

Playing with Fyre and @Simon Kincaid

He positively made her laugh when he stretched his hand out for her to take and retorted that her name also had "Fyre" in it. Yes, indeed it did, although she was pretty certain what they were about to do was not the reason her folks had put it in there. But honestly, they could never have expected that she would be perfect. That would be too heavy a burden for anyone to carry. No. She was going to have fun. She was giving herself permission to be just a little bad.... a little daring..... a little more fully rounded human being.

She smiled and waved goodbye to Aunt Maggie as Simon told her they were "going out". Aunt Maggie took it in stride, with zero questioning. She wondered if Simon had told her at any point in the day what his plans were for their evening? Maybe not the, you know, illegal breaking and entering part, but at least the itinerary part? She had perhaps grown so used to it that she thought little of it until meeting Simon, but her folks were pretty much on top of her whereabouts at all times. And her folks were extraordinarily lenient by comparison to Ainsley's and Kendric's, but compared to Simon's Aunt Maggie, they looked almost like prison guards.

She studied her boyfriend closely while walking down the street with him. A smile was planted on AngelFyre's face and it was going nowhere soon. Simon was absolutely in his element. He navigated Hogwarts with quite a lot of confidence, but this was an altogether more self-assured Simon. This was not a 13 year old kid holding her hand; this was very definitely a young man. Her brain literally emphasized the words "young man" and replayed them 2 or 3 times in her head. He was so sure of himself. Excited but not at all nervous. He exuded confidence and it made him even more attractive to her, if that was even possible. A million 'what if' questions were trying to navigate to the tip of her tongue, but she shook her head and shut all that down. Nope. Not tonight. Tonight was a complete trust fall. And really, it was not a hard thing to do at all because when it came down to it, she trusted Simon, quite literally, with her very life. In fact, there was no one she trusted more. Her parents loved her more than anyone, save possibly each other, but Simon understood things about her, even now, that they never would, or could.

He playfully bumped into her and it brought her out of her reverie. She looked at him again and it was like looking at someone who was an old friend.... familiar and trustworthy... but there was a glimpse of someone else she had never seen before and it was a hint of the man he would become someday. Within that vision she saw, felt really... absolute security. AngelFyre caught her breath and then steadied it, unnoticed by Simon. "Jazz might be nice," she agreed, "especially with a great saxophone. I love the saxophone. You would look AHHH-MAZING playing the sax, Mr. Kincaid. I would even pay... actually pay... not sneak in... to see that," and she winked at him. "I think, however, we are in for a delightful evening of beautiful, classical music. The non-Seer me predicts Vivaldi's Four Seasons, but I admit that is more wishful thinking than an actual prediction."

When they passed some equipment being unloaded, it most certainly did not appear that it was going to be an evening of jazz or classical music. Please do not let it be country and western... please do not let it be country and western looped in her head. It was her least favorite genre of music, much to her mother's chagrin. Anything else would be preferable. She tried to see what was written on the shirts of the crew, but Simon led her down an alley and all attention was now on her bad boy.

She was giddy. She probably should have been playing a better Bonnie to his Clyde by at least looking out for anyone who may approach, but honestly, she was more interested in what he was doing than the possibility of getting caught. She had never had alcohol before, but intoxicating was the only way she could describe the feelings washing over her right then. When the door handle clicked in his hands, she could have kissed him. He rapidly opened the door and ushered her into some kind of storeroom, maybe?

"Simon, I cannot see a thing, love," she whispered and reached back for his hand. "I need those glorious dhampir eyes to lead the way," and she laughed softly. When his hand took hold of hers, he guided her over to some doorway. As the door opened, enough light crept in that she could see they had entered through an old dressing room. There was even an old faded star on the hallway side of the door. Visually cliché maybe, but it made her smile.

Simon peeked his head into the corridor to make certain it was safe and when he started to move out, she moved with him, closing the door behind her quietly. The corridor was empty, but she could see and hear more hustle and bustle up ahead. He seemed intent on getting to the larger hallway quickly, so she reasoned that was their point of safety.

Once they had reached their goal, he turned to her and asked if she wanted a drink. She nodded and said "Water, please," as they were now sort of being subsumed into the crowd. At this point she let go of his hand and instead hooked her arm through his so as to not risk getting separated. There were a lot more people here, and the most obvious thing about the crowd was that it was comprised of, mostly, pre-teen and teenage girls. There was more than one bedraggled looking adult here and there and it was obvious that they were not thrilled to be held hostage to their child's musical tastes for the next couple of hours. She noted one father was already wearing ear plugs and she laughed to herself. Then they finally made it into the lobby area, she supposed it was, and it suddenly became more than obvious who the performer would be.... none other than Justin Bieber!

She had secretly been hoping for Ed Sheeran, but the Biebs would do in a pinch.

Posters of the guy basically wall-papered the lobby. Merchandise tables were set up along both sides of the area, which was a lot smaller than AngelFyre would have imagined, actually. Lines, lonnnnnng lines, snaked out into the middle of the lobby as parents and teens waited to purchase a shirt, or a poster, or who knows what sort of tacky thing with his face all over it, but she just shrugged. To each her own. She leaned over to Simon and smirked, "Well, it is no Vivaldi, but it could have been worse. It could have been a Country singer," and she leaned up quickly to kiss his cheek.

As they made their way to the concession stand, the crowds thinned out quite a bit. AngelFyre looked up at all the posters and thought to herself that Simon's face would look so much better hanging up there instead. Then that thought left the train station and picked up quite a bit of steam as it had her entertaining the idea of making her room a whole lot less blue and a whole LOT more Simon. Now that would be a shrine!

After they had gotten their waters, Simon led the way to where he said he knew the best seats were. They were both more relaxed now away from the crowds and feeling like they were in the clear when all of a sudden, a burly fellow, dressed like the stagehands they had seen earlier, rounded a corner and stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes widening as his gaze landed upon Simon. "I found him. Them, actually. Yeah, he's with a girl," the guy said, speaking into a headset.

AngelFyre could feel her hand beginning to sweat, so she removed it from Simon's and wiped it upon her napkin, before reaching back for his hand once again. Well, she thought. There would be the need to explain to her father, yet again, that Simon really was a flipping fantastic, respectable, upright, decent, loving, non-juvenile delinquent. It could be done, but the hill was slowly turning into a mountain. She was thinking 'one step forward, two steps back' when the burly fellow addressed both of them.

AngelFyre and Simon turned to each other, confusion written across both of their faces. Wait. Did he just call Simon... Mr. Bieber? And had he asked them to hurry backstage because Simon needed to get changed and ready for his first set which was scheduled to start in 20 minutes?

Confused with @AngelFyre McCubbin

Simon had too many next to him and could only hear murmurs of various conversations going but when he sensed AngelFyre's nervousness and then some of the stagehands looking toward him, he began to feel a bit of panic. Now the theater people there knew him quite well and honestly, they didn't mind when he snuck in for a free show and that's why this wasn't so bad, but if it was stagehands that maybe saw them come in - that could be a different story.

"Follow me," he said, taking her hand into his once more and immediately began darting through the crowd. "Excuse us. Pardon us." All he knew was that they had gotten too close to the stage and they were going to get noticed. Best to create a bit of distance. He really didn't want the one time he would get caught and in trouble to be with AngelFyre because she didn't deserve that.

As they passed through the crowd, a few girls screamed and Simon took that as the stagehands were still following, so they turned and headed up quickly up the grand staircase in the middle of the theater which of course was full of people. Hopefully they could lose them. When they reached the top, he glanced over his shoulder and saw AngelFyre and then a glut of people - no one following. He flashed a quick, but also slightly nervous, smile at her. "Sorry about that," he said as he pulled her closer to him and his eyes met hers. "Never had trouble before."

She was never going to get to visit in London again if they got in trouble, he just had a feeling her parents wouldn't allow it. "Oh my god, can I get a picture?" a girl said as she turned to them. Simon looked over his shoulder to see a girl there with three of her friends and figured she wanted him to hold the camera and take a photo. Thinking it would be a good opportunity to blend in with the crowd, he took her up on it. "Sure, stand close together," he said but then realized she was handing the phone out to AngelFyre. Before he could say anything else, the four girls engulfed around him and smiled. Simon looked to AngelFyre and too flashed a smile but his eyes were saying 'take the photo so we can get away from these crazies.'

"ARE YOU FOR REAL?! SHUT UP!" another girl shouted. "Can we get a pic?! WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!" and another group of girls was rushing them to do the same. Simon tilted his head, wanting to defend himself. He knew he had a bit of a history but he did NOT want AngelFyre thinking he had some horde of past girlfriends in London like this or something. What was going on?

When a third, and it seemed final group at the moment, were finished with their photos, Simon came behind AngelFyre and quickly escorted her away from the lobby of that second floor. "I don't know what's gotten into people," he whispered. What they needed to do to find those perfect seats was head down a small hall to the left where there were box seats that were never part of the ticket sales. Maybe he could get her there eventually. That was his final destination so they could see the show together.

On the lam with @Simon Kincaid

The last thing in the world AngelFyre expected Simon to do was to run, but run he did and she followed right after him. It was on the tip of her tongue to ask if he knew the burly man in the hallway, but her mind was swirling as he ran back out of the hallway and close to the stage. Clearly he did not know him, otherwise they would not be running. Or were they running because Simon did, in fact, know him, and it was not a positive acquaintance? Perhaps he was someone who had banned Simon from the theater for sneaking in on more than one occasion? She was then just about to ponder why the stagehand had called Simon, Mr. Bieber, when Simon directed them back into the middle of the cacophonous throng of mostly female tweens and teens. Her fellow was a smart one. Hiding in plain sight. Well, sort of... AngelFyre could easily disappear into the crowd. Simon stuck out a wee bit more. The proportion of males to females in the crowd was very, very low, but still, the crowd at the moment was a human shield and could be useful to aid in their escape.

To her great surprise and astonishment, she was actually having fun, even not knowing exactly what the heck was going on at the moment. She had characterized this evening to herself as a 'trust fall' act of faith in him before they had even left the town home, and she was fully committed to giving herself over to that pledge as the moment seemed to now be upon them. He would probably be very surprised to know that she was not scared or upset in the least. In fact, just the opposite. She found it all to be terribly exhilarating.

On the lam with Simon Kincaid. What an evening!

AngelFyre wished she could see his face - to know that he was okay. She loved that he immediately took control of the situation, so that was reassuring. He seemed to have a plan, and that was enough for AngelFyre. Still, the crush of Beliebers had grown thick around them, making it harder and harder to move, when all of a sudden, AngelFyre heard a piercing shriek just off to their right side. Then that one shriek started what felt like a domino effect as more and more shrieks filled her ears. She thought she heard one of them screech, "There he is! Oh my God! Oh my God. There he is!"

She looked ahead at Simon's back and noticed he immediately stiffened when the shrieking began. AngelFyre's left hand was in Simon's right one and she was trailing close behind him. The only concern she had in the moment was that he was dead set on moving them through the crowd, but to where she did not know. If they were to lose their tenuous hand hold amidst the crowd, she worried she might not be able to find him for a bit. Thank goodness for cell phones.

Almost as if he had read her mind, his grip on her hand tightened and he pulled her even closer to him as he broke through the edge of the crowd and raced up a beautiful, grand staircase. She finally caught a glimpse of his face as he looked over his shoulder, not so much at her, but rather, to gauge who might be following them, if anyone. That is how it felt anyway. Her suspicion was confirmed when he nervously apologized, flashing his smile at her, but this time it was clearly a nervous smile. As he pulled her closer, all she wanted to do was wrap him in the tightest hug after he stammered that he had never had trouble before. Then she saw the look in his eyes, and she fell just that much more in love with him.

Here she had been having a grand time in her little fantasy run from the management, but Simon had not, and now she knew why. He was not worried about himself. He was worried about her, of course, and what it could mean if they got in trouble. Like she had first done when the burly stagehand had approached them in the hallway, his concern was about what her folks..... specifically her father, no doubt.... would think and how it would impact her ability to visit him again in London anytime soon, like say, before the age of 30.

She was just about to tell him how thrilling the whole episode had been when a girl asked him if she could get a picture. She stood silent as Simon agreed, and then she blinked stupidly at the girl for a few seconds when it dawned on her that the girl was handing AngelFyre her cell phone and she wanted her picture taken with Simon. Now, AngelFyre did enjoy other girls looking at Simon. She always had. It was some weird pride thing she had about something she honestly, by rights, had no reason to take pride in, but she did. It was a secret, delicious little pleasure of hers because she was secure in their relationship, but this girl? This girl was taking things to a whole new level. And it was not just the one girl but her whole group that wanted a picture. Four of them swarmed around him immediately, pawing at him....grrrrrr..... and he had a sort of crazed, confused look in his eyes, and a very unSimon-like, plastic smile plastered on his face. That was her cue. She needed to hurry. This was no fun for him either. As she was taking the photo, another group or three.... she lost count... gathered round and wanted their photos with him.

Then it hit her. She knew what was going on, though why it was going on was beyond her. Maybe just a bad case of "crowd think"... like monkey see monkey do, even if the monkeys did not know why they were doing what they were doing. It was enough for people to see someone else getting their picture with him as others were dissolving into tears and screaming out that they loved him. That of course meant they themselves must have their picture taken with him as well, because, the other monkeys must know more about what was really going on, right? Still, there was more to it than that and she knew it.

After the last group got their photos, AngelFyre looked briefly down the staircase as another group had the look as if they were going to approach them, already getting their cell phones ready to be handed off to her. She shook her head 'No', staring them down as they tentatively decided to press forward anyway and she put her hand up, palm facing them in a universal, 'Stop Right There' move. To her great relief, they did stop, but they were bouncing in place and making all kinds of plaintive pleas up to him, some outright sobbing. She suddenly felt Simon behind her, moving her away. As he told her he did not know what had gotten into everyone, she quickly shot a look over her shoulder to make certain the last group of girls were not following.

They were.

She sighed and then she started to chortle. The chortle blossomed into full-throated laughter once she got a close look at him. He was absolutely covered in lipstick kisses. They had not registered on the cell phone screens when she was playing photographer to the "star", but it all made perfect sense. She stopped their progress and reached into her purse and grabbed a pocket mirror, handing it to him.. "Here. Look at yourself," and she stood before him, holding in her laughter as he took it all in, appearing to not know what to make of any of it.

"Simon, my love.... I agree. Everyone has gone crazy, but they ALL have sipped the Kool-Aid it would seem. Everyone thinks you are the headliner, Handsome. Everyone thinks you are Justin Bieber!" He seemed stunned, but she could swear she saw just the slightest turn of a self-satisfied smile begin to lift up the corners of his mouth.

"I personally do not see the resemblance. You are so much better looking than the Biebs, but Simon, think about it. The burly guy in the hallway actually called you Mr. Bieber. A lot of people around here think you are him. Heck, the guy wanted you to go backstage to get ready to perform. You do what you want to, my love, but how big a kick would it be if anyone approaches you again and instead of running, we actually went backstage with them? We might actually get to meet the Canadian legend himself." Her eyes got a bit of a distant look as her brain was racing with the implications and the possibilities that could be in store for them that evening. AngelFyre dreamed big. She always had.

A mischievous grin spread across her face. "Who knows? Maybe you might even get a shot at actually singing before this audience," she said a little breathlessly. She looked towards him and he was definitely smiling now, too, but it was a kind of uncertain smile struggling to hide the 'Do you really think so?' look dancing in his gorgeous golden brown eyes.

Common sense took hold of him and he leaned over to kiss her forehead, wrapping his arms around her as he did so. "You are a nut, you know that?" He smiled widely at her and tapped his forehead gently against hers before reaching for her hand and continuing their journey.

"Maybe, but how awesome would it be?"

Encore of a dance and moment of a lifetime with @AngelFyre McCubbin

At first he was worried. He was worried because he brought AngelFyre out into what seemed to be a rather huge event that night in the theater in London, with far bigger crowds than the symphony or orchestras brought. He worried that she was upset with him or worried that she might be fearful of such a crowd.

He was able it seemed at one point to slip away just enough to reconnect for a very slight moment with AngelFyre. "What has gotten into people?" Were they all mental? It was as if they slipped into some alternate universe or into some dream with the way this evening was taking. Still, he just shook his head slightly as he smiled widely to her and that right there showed that he wasn't afraid nor upset and could tell that she wasn't either.

On the move they went again, only this time he was more confident as it seemed whatever adventure this evening held, AngelFyre was up for it! Of course she was. Simon had been silly for having any doubts. Her theory seemed hard to believe - that people believed he was some Canadian popstar.

For a brief moment, Simon wondered if she only wanted to try and get backstage because maybe somehow she had a bit of an inner fangirl within her but he wouldn't tease her right now, nor could he. Going back up the staircase was certainly not the right move as it only took one horde of girls to spot him before trying to start an ambush again and then the domino effect took over - one group of girls caught the attention of another group, and another and another. Okay, no. Downstairs at least was full of patrons that weren't AS crazed it seemed, so they double-backed.to the house

Back down to the grand circle of it all, Simon decided it probably was best to stay out of the main concourse. There were less people there. Down one small hallway they went, still adorned and lit by fancy sconces and covered in the rich burgundy and gold carpeting, but somehow it gave off a different sort of feeling than the others - plus it was deserted. Maybe they could just have a moment's rest. Now that he knew she was in and up for the adventure, they could come up with a game plan.

"'Ey! Howay!" a man said upon turning a corner and seeing them. Simon recognized it as a rather north-eastern sort of England way of saying 'lets go' or 'come on' and he glanced over his shoulder to AngelFyre and gave a quick shrug. Well, the only game plan they talked about is perhaps get backstage so that's what they would do. What was life without a little risk?

"I'll come so long as she comes with me. You see, I will go, as long as...." but Simon just looked over to AngelFyre and laughed, not going to finish the statement of where you go, I will go - as long as I go with you. The stagehand, clearly marked by the vest he was wearing, just didn't seem to mind either way. He gave a shrug and opened up a door. "This way, then. Both of you."

It was pretty clear that they were led to a backstage area, although much bigger than any productions Simon's theater class put on. They were led to a man who was dressed in a suit, chewing away on some bubblegum and had some kind of aura about him like he was in charge. He shot a look to the man that brought Simon and AngelFyre to him and seemed amused and then turned his focus just to Simon.

"You sing?" he asked him casually, looking him over once more. Simon was still a little confused because this night had been a bit of a blur. "I enjoy it," was Simon's answer. The man nodded, still chewing his gum which diminished his 'tough business man' persona a little but made him a bit more appealing. "You dance?" he asked. "I've got a certain swagger," Simon said and looked over to AngelFyre with a bit of a smile because he knew it was a lame answer. "Go on then," the man said and looked out beyond the stage, before placing a headset onto Simon.

And Simon was given a gentle nudge by the first man out and still grasping onto AngelFyre's hand, the two headed out into some very Very VERY bright lights. There was loud cheers all around and Simon began to realize that some people within this theater either thought he was a popstar or this was some prank sort of singing contest like Britain's Got Talent.

As he scanned over the crowd (at least what he could see of it through the bright lights) the lights darkened and the word HOLY flashed on various screens around. Music began, and Simon instantly recognized the song. Okay, singing contest or whatever this was....he got this but it wasn't just him up there. "Let's see how much we remember of our dance in the Rehearsal Room on April 2nd," he said to AngelFyre.

"I hear a lot about sinners...." he began and the crowd grew in volume again and he distanced himself from AngelFyre on stage just to start slowly walking to her, the way he had started back on April 2nd. "Don't think that I'll be a saint...."

Would this work?
Hopefully.

What was happening?
He still wasn't quite sure.

But this was fun.

In the Spotlight with @Simon Kincaid
"Ey! Howay.”. She heard the man, but she had not a clue what he had said. It could have been Greek for all she knew, except that she did know, and it was not Greek. Her piano teacher for the 5 years prior to AngelFyre attending Hogwarts, Mrs. Thermopolis, was Greek, and that utterance definitely did not sound like Greek to her. Whatever it was, it did not seem to be a matter for her to struggle long over, however, as Simon clearly understood him. Since when was her handsome hunk bi-lingual?!? Never mind that now, AF! Focus!

Bringing her full attention quickly back to the situation at hand, she caught Simon looking back over his shoulder to her and although he shrugged his shoulders, his expression clearly had a ‘damn the torpedoes’ quality to it. He is going to do it. He is going to get us backstage! She could feel her excitement beginning to build, but this time it was not from the fear or nervousness that accompanied a fight or flight situation. This was purely a happily anticipatory kind of excitement.

When he turned back around to address the stagehand, she heard him say in no uncertain terms that he would come with the man, but only if she got to go along with him. AngelFyre’s hand reflexively squeezed Simon’s in that moment, three times. Simon did not stop there though. The stagehand had not reacted in any way to what he had said, so Simon continued, but suddenly stopped after a few words from his personal catchphrase, spoken only to her, left his lips. He turned to her, laughing, and she laughed along with him. Whatever was about to happen, AngelFyre knew that he was relaxed and it just all seemed to be okay. His laughter in that moment just wrapped around her like a warm blanket and made everything feel okay, so AngelFyre relaxed, too. The stagehand just stared at them briefly, completely expressionless. He opened up the door and spoke clearly in English for them both to follow him. No misunderstanding him now.

AngelFyre was fascinated by everything she was seeing. It was nothing short of regulated chaos. This frenetic movement is what she imagined the inside of a beehive might be like. People were moving in all kinds of directions; some speaking into headsets and others barking orders and questions to people nearby. She heard plodding footsteps on metal above her and looked up to see a few people moving along the 2-3 story scaffolding, adjusting enormous spotlights as others busied themselves with a good deal of rigging that led to who knew where. It was rare for her not to have eyes on Simon, but she was curious where the stagehand was taking them. Would they be presented to the Biebs himself? AngelFyre could not have cared less about Justin Bieber if the truth be told, but she was now curious to see what her fellow looked like next to the Canadian popstar. What did the lobby crowd see that neither of them saw, let alone the whole of Hogwarts, by way of resemblance? It was befuddling to be sure. What she did know is that Simon could sing and dance and perform just as expertly, and if they got to see the Biebs, she would make certain he knew it.

As she was scanning all the faces for the headliner, to no avail, the stagehand took them to a man in a suit, casually leaning up against something just offstage. He was holding a headset that looked to have a substance and quality to it many times greater than what everyone else seemed to be wearing backstage. He was also chewing bubblegum of all things. A grown man. It made AngelFyre laugh. When they were deposited in front of him, he just stared at them both over a series of bubbles he was blowing and slowly popping. Finally he spoke to Simon, and when he asked if Simon could sing and dance, AngelFyre’s excitement bubbled over. She determined it wise to silence herself as this was clearly going in the direction she had dreamed for her fellow not 10 minutes ago. No point in risking a misfire now.

She rolled her eyes at Simon’s answers, smile-teasing him when he looked back at her, but there was endless pride in him behind those eye rolls, and he knew it. His swag brag was in full effect. If she lived to be 1,000 years old she did not think she would ever have 1/10 the self-confidence her fellow had, and that was okay. He was the showman of the dynamic duo. Observing and being his number one fan was excitement enough for her and fit entirely within her wheelhouse. When Bubblegum Man gave the go ahead and placed the headset on Simon’s head, AngelFyre’s first thought was that she needed to get her phone out so that she could tape his performance. Her second thought was that she was going to have to think of some way to spread the news at Hogwarts that a star walked amongst them.

She was just about to tell him to ‘Break a leg” as Bubblegum Man nudged him onto the stage, but something suddenly was NOT going as AngelFyre planned. Simon did not let go of her hand as she expected he would and as she resisted and pulled back, his grip grew even stronger and more insistent as he brought her onstage with him. At first she thought his calm exterior might be covering a panicked performer on the inside and he was unaware that he had accidentally dragged her out there with him. The lights were obscenely bright and blinding and the second he stepped out, the crowd just erupted into an eardrum rupturing decibel level. She was still tugging, trying to get his attention, but to no avail.

Probably looking like a deer in the headlights, she looked out across the stage and into the audience. Girls were losing it. It was insane the sheer amount of noise they were making. Then all of a sudden there was blessed darkness as the lights dimmed and screens behind them and to their sides displayed the word HOLY. Her heart was racing and she was suddenly afraid that maybe this would be too much for him. What should she do? She hoped he would forgive her this lamebrain idea of hers, but now the immediate question was how to extricate him from this embarrassing mess?

Then Simon suddenly turned to her and he was smiling. Smiling! She could hear the music as the crowd began to hush. But why? Wh - What was he THINKING? AngelFyre was as confused as she ever hoped to be and her heart had never fallen to her stomach as quickly as it did when realization finally began to dawn on her. Simon was not the least scared. He knew exactly what he was doing. Or did he? She could only ruin this for him. She had determined the moment he released her hand, she would exit stage right faster than he could say Bye! But when he stepped towards her and told her his plan, the look on his face changed her exit strategy immediately. He wanted this to be a shared moment, which was sweet, but HOLY cr-….

She watched in a moment of only slight panic now as he stepped away from her, getting into position. When she heard him sing the opening line, "I hear a lot about sinners...." the theater erupted once again into screams, shrieks, and sobs. He was serious. They were doing this? Okay, love. I hope you know what you are doing. She kicked off her shoes and started her very deliberate steps towards him. The dance was going to have to be changed up in places, but AngelFyre knew he would follow her lead on this part of the performance. Although she was not wearing her dance leotard, she was grateful she had chosen to wear her tap pants beneath her dress. That should make the lifts a lot less embarrassing.

With every step she took towards him, she kept repeating to herself again and again, Please do not let me embarrass him. Please do not let me embarrass him. And with every step he took towards her, his smile remained and he kept his eyes locked on hers. AngelFyre knew in that instant that Simon totally had her. He was not going to let her fail. And when he then sang, "Don't think that I'll be a saint...." the two came together and the rest was nothing but the magic between them. He never took his eyes off of her, and her muscle memory for the moves kicked in quickly. He responded to everything as he had on April 2, and he even responded to the modifications she made on the fly. Holding him was not something anyone ever had to ask her to do twice, so about a quarter of the way into the song, she was there 100% with him.

One of her favorite parts was undoing his tie at the beginning and using it as a prop for their spin outs and spin ins and she even at one time slipped it around his waist to pull him towards her when he sang, "The way you hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me...." It gave her shivers. But the best part? The absolute best part was when he sang, "Oh, God! Running to the altar like a track star...." and he winked at her while raising his right hand and pointing to his claddagh ring.

In her mind, that was the drop the mic moment right there. swoooon

It all ended with his tie being wrapped around each of their wrists, binding them together as done in a Gaelic marriage ceremony. Her back was pressed into his front and he had wrapped his arms completely around her waist as hers both rested on top of his. Simon buried his face in her neck and hair, kissing her lightly, and she knew he whispered something to her because she could feel his breath and lips moving, but she could not hear it because, once again, the crowd went crazy. It was even louder than when he first walked out. That made her happy because she knew they had liked his performance. Why would they not?

As they started to walk offstage, AngelFyre remembered she needed to grab her shoes, so she ran over to where she had kicked them, bringing Simon with her. It was close to, but not at the edge of, the stage and the Security was nearly overrun with girls climbing over each other to get to him. She was pelted with all kinds of things they were throwing to him, quite a few them unmentionables, ahem, but most of them were photos and flowers and plush animals. He reached down and quickly scooped her up into his arms after she grabbed her last shoe and was carrying her offstage when AngelFyre told him to introduce himself before they left. He smiled and just shook his head no, and AngelFyre could not tell if that was his genuine modesty or embarrassment at play, but she was having none of it. Before he had them offstage, she grabbed his headset and said, “Give it up for your local London Town legend himself, Simon Kincaid!!!”

Smiling proudly at him, AngelFyre took the opportunity to kiss his handsome face in a thousand different places as he carried her effortlessly to stage right, while an audience of crazed Belieber fans filled the theater with chants of, “Simon! Simon! Simon! Simon!" which rang in their ears and hearts for a period of time well beyond that evening.
