Is This The Way To Charms?
Kayla was late. Late, late, late for her charms lesson, hurying and moving fast, dodging people and accidentally tripping over prefects' shoes and crying, "Sorry!" way too often, she reached a staircase she thought was appropriate. Wearing her hufflepuff uniform and her hair tied down into two small buns, a look that suited her, she just preferred to not tie her hair.
As Kayla was repositioning her tie , which she often found annoying and uncomfortable, and walking at the same time, the stairs started to shift, moving away from the direction she wanted it to go, instead, it went a completely different direction.
"Oh, shit. Oh, no, no,no! Turn back!" Kayla cried, running up the stairs and yanking off her tie, stuffing it in her bag as she ran. But it was too late. When she got to the top, out of breath, it had led her to the familiar corridor she knew as the way to the study hall. One floor too low. Kayla sighed and walked off the last step, actually moving into the corridor, deserted excpet for a few late students making their way to class too. Kayla moved a bit faster, but she wasn't running. She didn't mind being late, she just didn't want detention. Stupid Monday morning. Why did the stairs move, anyway? Who in there good mind thought it was a good idea to make the stairs move?
"Stupid bloody stairs," Kayla muttered, trying to tie her tie while walking.

Is This The Way To Charms?
Efelion was having a rather terrible day when it came to his classes, he had been late to wake up, gotten lost three times, and had ended up forgetting some books. The boy found himself in the winding maze that was the second-floor corridor once again as he attempted to find his next class. He was almost certain that he was in fact lost once again on his way to his next class.
As he rounded a corner he heard cursing, it sounded as if he wasn’t the only one having trouble today. Efelion’s hair was rather messy when he almost ran right into the girl who had been cursing under her breath. He could tell she was in a rush as well which made sense as she looked around the same age as him or maybe in the year above.
“I’m so sorry” Efelion exclaimed after he stopped himself from running into her his Hazel eyes looking surprised from the almost collision “I should have checked before turning the corner.”
The boy sighed a bit with frustration as he realized he was now totally turned around, not because of the girl but just due to the confusion of the school layout. It was like a maze to him, he wasn’t used to it, and it didn’t help that the stairs enjoyed moving on their own. In his opinion, it was a dumb and silly design choice even for the magical world.
“I uh well…” Efelion sounded awkward at first as his brain slowly caught up to him “I’m so sorry” He stumbled over his own feet and dropped his bag, his books spilling everywhere “blast it.”
Efelion started to scramble to gather his things up, today really hadn’t been his day.

Kayla flinched and moved back as a boy, shorter than her, almsot collided with her. He gave her a hurried apology before his bag fell, the contenets spilling everywhere.
"No, it's ok. No need to apologise," Kayla said quickly, she was faintly annoyed, but the amount of apologies she had gotten were enough to say she shouldn't be too sour. "Here let me help you." Kayla helped the boy as he picked up his fallen things, she picked up a thick textbook, taking a look at the glossy cover before handing it to him. "There, here ya go," she said kindly, before taking a closer look at him, examining him. He had messy brown hair- he looked to be shorter than her, which he indeed was. She wondered if he, too, was late for his class- she wondered if he was in her class.
Wait a moment. She one this boy, didn't she? Wasn't he at the sorting? Wasn't he a...Oh yes, a Ravenclaw. The blue tie, the blue and black robes. Not that she knew him, but she tried her best to rack her memory.
"Kayla. I'm Kayla,"She said, after helping the boy with his books. She knew she was late- but why not spare sometime, she didn't like charms that much, anyway.

Efelion took the book from her and nodded graciously as he repacked his bag, he hadn’t expected someone to be there though it was his own fault for not really paying attention. He figured that most people would have been in their next classes by now and hadn’t expected to run into someone in the hallways of the school. It was something that had come out of left field.
“Thank you so much” Efelion spoke softly as the anxiety of the incident faded away as he picked his bag off the cold ground and stood back up “My name is Efelion” He returned his own name to the girl standing before him “Efelion Berrendow, But people just call me Effy.” by people he meant the one friend he had met on the train ride in and not a single other soul, as he hadn’t really been one to talk to others that often, “I think I saw you at the sorting ceremony did I not?”
The girl before him wore the colors of the Hufflepuff house and light brown fluffy hair. He had indeed seen her at the ceremony but he was glad she had given her name as he couldn’t remember almost any of those who had been sorted with him. There were too many of them to count, he had no idea so many students would be in their first year.
“I promise running into others is not a common occurrence,” Efelion said in jest as he looked around “I was just preoccupied being lost in this maze of a place, I wonder sometimes how they expect us to find where to go.” Even for a boy who had grown up in the wizarding world the school was confusing, moving stairs, many floors, and rooms that hadn’t been used in eons were not exactly what he had in mind when he was told he’d be attending Hogwarts.
“I’m such a clutz sometimes, I should have been more cautious running around these halls, might have helped if my bag had been done up properly” Efelion spoke scratching the back of his head awkwardly after placing the pack strap on his shoulder once more “Maybe it’s a sign I shouldn’t sign up for the quidditch team.” he finished jokingly trying to make light of his inability to notice people quicker.

"No problem, Effy," Kayla said brightly. Kayla had resolved to calling him Effy, it sounded nice, and Kayla loved nicknames. When Efelion asked if he had seen her at the sorting ceremony, Kayla paused for a second, before nodding. "Yep. I think I may have seen you too, maybe that's why I recognised you."
Kayla quickly looked at Efelion again, trying to see if she could regonise his features. But alas, the amount of first years that were at Hogwarts, she might have just been thinking of someone else. She probably would've instantly known who Efelion was if he was in Hufflepuff, but she only knew one person in Ravenclaw. Or maybe two.
"I don't belive it is,"Kayla chuckled, "it is quite a big place, isn't it? Actually, scratch that, this place is HUGE. Okay, maybe huge is also an understatement." Kayla shook her head, "It's huge, confusing and is basically a labyrinth because it constantly changes. Who came up with the idea of moving staircases? Doors that weren't doors? Honestly this place is made to give you a headache. But its pretty awesome that way."
Kayla had never expected to trash talk Hogwarts, but she didn't see it as trash talk she saw it more as...nope, there wasn't better word for it.
"Hey, don't doubt yourself," Kayla said meekly, softly punching Efelion in the arm. "I wouldn't sign up for quidditch either, but if you do I'll be excited to see you on the field. However if you do go against Hufflepuff, I will not be cheering for you," Kayla added, with a smile.
