I thought I went up?
Date: 8th of september
Location: Hallways near the courtyard
weather: cloudy
It was the afternoon break in between the end of classes and the dinner call at the great hall and Efelion had decided that he would spend some time getting to know the castle so he wouldn’t get lost attending classes like he had done in the past. Even for someone from the wizarding world, it was rather confusing to navigate. He had somehow ended up once again on the ground floor even though he had sworn he had gone up a flight of stairs. His parents hadn’t been wrong when they said that the school was a maze.
Efelion had been here before, it was the courtyard but he didn’t want to be here again, he wanted a different place to relax, not the second-floor corridors not the outside fountain in the center of the courtyard. Something in the middle, then it hit him. The walkways that surrounded the courtyard, they were undercover and at the moment due to it being an in-between time mostly empty. Most of the students here would probably be in their common room by now or probably out on the grounds for some time outside before the end of the day which Efelion himself had thought of doing.
The only reason he decided to explore was that when he looked at the sky it was overcast and he knew it would rain soon he didn’t particularly want to be stuck in soaking robes before he was able to get back to the common room as that would be annoying. The side corridors of the courtyard would do, at least for this afternoon. He just hoped that once he needed to get back to the common room he wouldn’t get lost as he had done by ending up here.
How had he ended up so confused, normally he was calm and collected, his brain could normally map out areas fine and he had a good sense of direction but this school seemed to be robbing him of it. Maybe it was the stress from being in a new location and having to learn so many things, in fact, he had been surprised that they were being taught so many classes already. It all felt like a whirlwind the only solace he had was that his friends agreed with him that it all seemed rather intense for people their age.
Efelion found a spot that he could rest in, a small nook in the wall that he could sit in and think that was almost like its own bench but not quite. He was trying to think about how to plan his next day, what clubs to join, it was all so much to think about and something that he had never in a million years thought he’d have to consider. Efelion wanted him to join this club or that club, or some sport because that’s the one they’d be joining and he couldn’t really choose.
The Boy sighed as he sank a little deeper into the chair like window sill and tilted his head back softly so it could rest just a little bit, still above to view around him. Even being born into the magical world hadn’t prepared him for this and now he felt like he was in a competition, he felt compelled to be the best and to live up to his family of Ravenclaws who finished with high marks otherwise he was worried he’d let his family down.

────────────────────────────────I had just finished Herbology, and was hurrying inside before the rain. It’s not that I don’t like rain, it's that I have books and did not want to them get wet. It started sprinkling so I turned and began speed walking. I made it inside and plopped down on my usual bench, to catch my breath.
Being a second year made me felt way better. My anxieties were calmer- well, usually, and I knew where everything was. And one of the coolest things of all, I got to see inside the second greenhouse! Also next year I get to take Care of Magical Creatures, and I am so exited for that. I feel like in my second year it will be way easier and I won’t have to worry as much about getting good grades and such.
I glanced over at my books and saw that I was forgetting one. It was also, the one I needed next.
“Uggg,” I said. I looked over at the boy who was sitting on the other end of the bench. “Do you mind if I leave my books her while I run and grab the one I forgot in the greenhouse? Professor Iorns is probably helping someone or cleaning up.”────────────────────────────────

I thought I went up?
I hadn’t even noticed the girl get inside right away until I heard the footsteps, too lost in my own thought once again to have any sense of spacial awareness. When she got closer I could get a better look. Her hair was brown and long, below her shoulders. I was expecting her to just rush by as she seemed in a hurry but instead, she sat down on the same bench but on the other side. I wasn’t expecting it at all, I thought she’d be in a hurry to get back to the dorms and get changed out of any wet clothing.
I thought of saying something as we sat in silence for a few seconds not really knowing what to do but thankfully she spoke first which saved me from the anxiety of having to engage her first although it was not words of a good time, she had forgotten a book at the greenhouses. I wasn’t sure what to do when she asked for me to take care of her belongings but I am not one to turn down another in need and decided that my only course of option was to accept.
“Of course, I won’t be moving here for a little anyway, but would it not be better to see if the rain slowed down first?” I asked not sure on what should be done “I Uh… I can though if you are willing to brave that weather.”
Was this girl really about to leave her things here and travel down there for her book? It wasn’t a long walk but it was still raining and the risk of a cold or being even damper was nothing something I would be keen on even with my love for books, I would have left it for the day. Gone back when less rain was happening but maybe the book was more important than something read for fun.
“If you go quickly you might be rained on less” I offered a suggestion “I’m still new but from memory, the greenhouses are rather close by right?”

────────────────────────────────I thought about what the boy had said. “I’ll be right back.” I ran as fast as I could and finally grabbed my book. I waved at professor Iorns, who was sweeping up some dirt that was spilled on our class. I tucked it in my robes and ran back. I was already soaking wet, so why not slowly walk back.
When I was a little girl, I loved the rain. I remember begging my parents to let me go out and play in the puddles. They rarely let me, but when they did I always had the best time. I liked to sit on the big rock in our landscaping and then I liked to lean against our house. I would close my eyes and feel the soft, wet drops on my skin. I would wait until it stopped raining to go back inside and dry off. Something about the rain was… just so soothing to me, and it still was.
I decided to walk slowly, watching the ground become fully wet. I looked up at the sky and saw the pretty dark clouds. I flipped my hood off and felt the hard, fat drops land on my head. I smiled as I walked in to the castle.────────────────────────────────

I thought I went up?
“I’ll look after your books for you!” I yelled out after her as she ran off into the distance.
As I watched the Hufflepuff run off I just stood there, not really knowing what to do. I didn’t even know this girl’s name and yet I offered to mind her books, what if I couldn’t get them back to her if she got lost? How would I ever find her in that scenario, we weren’t even in the same house.
I worried for a short while before re-affirming that she would be back to my own head. I was just worrying, she was only going down to the greenhouses which weren’t very far away at all. I may not have remembered how to get to my own common room but I knew that the greenhouse was an easy place to visit from here.
As I waited I could hear the rain starting to pick up and became a little worried, this random girl I had just met was to be caught in the rain. Were she and her book about to be even more soaked by its return? These thoughts ran through my head until I saw her emerge back inside again, it was a relief to my thoughts that she hadn’t been too caught out by the weather.
“I guarded the books, did you end up getting the one you were missing?” I asked her “The rain looked as if it was picking up again.”

────────────────────────────────Something about this boy bothered me. My books were an inch closer to him, and stacked in a different order than I had left them. I wanted to scream, THOSE ARE MY BOOKS! DO NOT TOUCH! But I didn’t.
When I was eight, something else like this happened. I was over at my friend Athena’s house for the night. She had a few other friends over too, and I didn’t know them. I was working a muggle craft one of the girls had brought over. I wasn’t very good at it, because well, it was muggle and I had never seen it before. I asked them not to help me. I got up to help Athena carry some snacks down the stairs and when I came back, my bracelet was done. I looked over to the girl who I hated, she had made fun of me earlier in truth or dare, and I kind of lost my temper.
“I LITteRAlly ASkeD YoU noT TO FiniSH It AnD YOU Did!?! I don’T EvEN CarE THaT I Can’T DO IT Very WEll.” I yelled. I turned and hid in the bathroom. I later found out that she didn’t do it. I was so embarrassed that I never went over to Athena’s with other people over again.
I looked at the boy and grabbed my books. “I know you touched my books and don’t EVER do it again.” And with that, I stormed off.────────────────────────────────
