Forward date : Somewhere in September
Who knows how many days since she receives the news of her aunt's death? Ever since then, she has been easily distracted, easily aggravated, and depressed most of the time. She also barely talks to anyone. Well, more like she refuses to talk to anyone. She just wanted to be alone, alone with her sorrow and guilt. Even though it pains her.

The professor has been having some concerns with her too. Her usually remarkable grades have suddenly shifted to a less impressive result. People have asked her about what has happened but the blonde just seems to refuse to answer truthfully. Or even shut them down immediately by pushing them away. She-- always felt guilty for doing so, but sometimes she couldn't help it.

Ever since that eventful morning when she received the news, she has been going to this abandoned toilet immediately after class. Mostly to cry, scream, have a panic attack- the usual stuff. It seems like the last place she would visit isn't it? the dirty stone walls, creaking pipes, and even small puddles aren't usually her scene, but because of that, it is the perfect place for her to hide from everyone. They would not understand, she thought. Because no one has lost as much as she. Abandoned by her real parents as a baby, check, a father figure dying when you were just a child? check, now her mother figure, the one she loves the most, is deceased even without saying the last word? check. So surely they won't understand, even though she wished they were.

Pea crouched down behind one of the toilet doors. Sobbing again. She, as usual, fold her hand and covered her face inside it while bawling her eyes out. In all truth, Pea doesn't like crying or showing any vulnerable emotion. She always believes that crying is a show of weakness, and would also ruin her look for the day. But this time, she is not strong enough to fight this emotion. For the first time in all her life, she felt weak and hopeless. Like nobody- nobody will help her-

So nobody, NOBODY should see her in this state. Because she really wouldn't know what to do.

The Abandoned Toilets to Alec had always given off a certain chilling feeling. The lack of candlelight caused eery shadows cast from the furniture within. The effects of time slowly wore itself into the walls, something cracked here, and something crumbling there. It was leaky faucets and the sound of the old plumbing. The loud creaking sound the hinges made when you swung the door of the bathroom stall open and closed. Dirty and decrepit, something gross you didn't want to touch within each crack and crevice. The Abandoned Toilets were absolutely disgusting... and yet with it brought a sense of nostalgia for the young man. A yearning for a simpler time, years had gone by since then. A bathroom deteriorated with time, disgusting, full of many a flaw; it was the exact thing that had sparked each ingenious plan, each masterful prank, each created by a group of young children, inexperienced and immature. Somehow it was easier back then, easier that way. Every once in a while the memories tugged and pulled at him and he would go out of his way to make to visit. Alec would reminisce even if only for a moment, finding himself back in the same place he had been so many times in his first year

Today was one of those days, the same as any other day where he would let his wandering mind once again meet his wandering feet and he found himself standing at the entrance to the Abandoned Toilets. Today was no different. Or at least today wouldn't have been any different if not for- Opening the door and entering into the Abandoned Toilets Alec would pause. He stopped to take in the familiar sight. Memories were the only thing that kept Alec coming, his love-hate relationship with the bathroom would have been hate if not for the memories. He was sure the germs this bathroom kept were going to be enough to induce an emergency visit to the hospital wing.

It was all the same, except for the sounds of a person sobbing. It wasn't the ghost, the bathroom ghost was but a legend currently. If it wasn't- then who- Alec took careful cautious steps towards the bathroom stall where he could hear the sobbing come from, trying not to scare the other away. Raising an arm he would gently knock on the door to the bathroom stall in order to grab the stranger's attention. “Hey,” Alec spoke, his tone came out surprisingly quiet and certainly softer than he had meant it to be. “Are you-” No that wasn't right. Alec couldn't simply ask if this person was alright; he had to complicate the process.

He took a step back from the stall, looking at its door as if it were a real person as if he could almost see through the door. It was a shame he could actually not see through a wall, let alone a door. “You're not the only one who's gotten teary-eyed in this place before; I think there's a house elf who chops onions in here from time to time.” He would joke in an attempt to lift her spirits. Alec's lips would form into a thin line edging on a smirk, “It's a true injustice, really,” he would entertain the possibility in his mind, bits of bright and vivid imagination were what illuminated a usually gloomy place such as the Abandoned Toilets. “The irony comes in when you find out the house elf is named Onion. It has to feel strange and conflicting to be named Onion and chopping up something with the same name.” He was getting slightly rambly, there was no need to verbalize his entertainment with the possibility, of a house elf named Onion chopping onions.

“One doesn't usually walk into the Abandoned Toilets to whiff in its putrid onion smell; and with that putrid onion smell, have a good cry.” It was disappointing to accept the fact he was never going to find himself in a situation to have found someone crying here and have it be from the nonexistent 'putrid onion smell' His facial expressions softened, and his voice slowly and surely dropped it playful and joking tone, as he spoke up now he would sound suddenly more somber, “nobody sobbing the way you are is anything close to being alright or okay.” Way to state the obvious, which he felt in this circumstance he needed to state.

Alec looked at the bathroom stall in a reflective manner, “I would offer you tea, tea makes everything a little better. Sadly I don't exactly have anything to make tea on me,” he spoke, Alec glanced down at his hands, quiet for a few seconds, all until he remembered he was holding a wand. Alec's eyes lit up. Everybody likes flowers, right? Well except Cu Sith, Cu Sith didn't count. “Orchideous,” he spoke and would conjure a bouquet of flowers from the tip of his wand, all white. Huh, their not usually white... Leaning down he would hand her the white bouquet of flowers from the gap under the stall door. “Here, flowers cheer most people up. Of course not as much as tea, I'm working with my resources.” Alec's eyebrows furrowed, speaking of attempting to cheer them up “Do you want to talk about it?”

Following words like asking if the stranger wanted to talk about it, a half-laugh would escape from his lips. “I know, ew, talking about your feelings, and talking about them with a weird stranger offering to listen, but I swear it helps.” Swearing it helps didn't feel like it would do much to convince a person, he was pulling every card possible. It was less for the stranger's sake then it was for his own, knowing if he left it alone and didn't get involved it would just be on his mind later that evening. “Besides, crying in the Abandoned Toilets feels like one of the lowest lows, at this point it's so low you can only go up.” He would speak, his words teasing. Alec ran a hand through his hair. He needed to keep his unruly curls out of his face. If he couldn't see he wouldn't be able to talk to the door of a bathroom stall as if it were a person. He felt odd about it but he would have felt more odd if he was facing away from the stall.

After spending several hours in this place every day- she does contemplate her decision of choosing the worse place to let out her emotions. But coming to this place wasn't a random decision in her case. She knows nobody would visit this dirty, leaky, grimy, dingy place, The most undesirable place to visit in the vastness of Hogwarts. People would've never guessed, that being the perfect girl that she is, would spend most of her time in a dirty bathroom.

Pea still stayed in the same position. Curled up with her face down to her knee, behind one of the bathroom stalls. She is still sobbing even though most of her tears are probably dried out at this point.

Her aunt has passed for several days now, but the weighing feeling- the guilt- and anger still rummaging inside her to swallow her whole. She wished she didn't continue feeling this way, but every minute of every day, she just couldn't stop believing or forgetting, what has she lost. So the feeling continues- for how long she did not know.

Suddenly, she felt a breeze of cold air past the bathroom door. She didn't think of it too much other than the possibility of a ghost might pass through. She thought if it were really a ghost, she could just use Lumos to get rid of them.

But- but.. it was something else.

A knock filled her eardrums as she shudder at the noise. Someone is.. here? Why?

"Hey, are you-" the person let out several words before he stops. Pea froze- immediately felt like she could not move her body. Nobody can see her like this! panic-stricken, the blonde felt every nerve in her body vibrating- her anxiety and insecurities starting to take over her body as she freezes in place.

“You're not the only one who's gotten teary-eyed in this place before; I think there's a house elf who chops onions in here from time to time.”

The boy continues to speak- telling a story about a house elf named onion who chops onion? What is he on about? the teary blue-eyed thought. Is that an attempt of cheering her up? A joke? She wanted to sigh hardly for the mildly amusing story, but- her mind only scream, hoping he would leave- leave- LEAVE. Pea still stayed quiet, trying to think of anything she could do to make him go away. Her ego- and insecurities really could not handle a person seeing her this way. Weak, crying on a dirty floor, hair probably ruffled, her robe already tainted with the bathroom floor. The lowest she had ever been. She for once in her life, Isn't thrilled if someone were to lay their eyes upon her.

The boy continues the story, about the onion elf, which does distract her mind from her insecurities to the thought of the possible unsanitary onion she might have eaten during the school breakfast. But then he stopped.

“nobody sobbing the way you are is anything close to being alright or okay.”

Suddenly for some reason, that boy's word- felt like it pierced her heart- and made her burst into crying again. She didn't understand why- might be the softness of his voice or just the thought that someone has acknowledged her feelings. Not in the way her classmates and professors are, the way that actually seemed genuine. Pea let out more weeps that she was sure the boy could hear it. In the outside world, she would never let anyone hear her weep- but somehow knowing that they could not see each other, not knowing each other appearances, made her feel more secure about letting out her emotions.

He does continue to talk over her weeps, which felt like he knows she needed to let out those emotions before she could talk. until- a bunch of flowers, white flowers appeared from the bottom of the bathroom floor. Pea lifted her head and sniveled, spooked by the beautiful bouquet of white flowers suddenly appearing out of nowhere. The first time- in a really, really long time- she let out a chuckle.

"You are really a weird person. Who gives a bouquet to a crying person you met in a bathroom?" She said with a half chuckle half crying voice but accepts the flowers nonetheless. "Thanks-" she said next almost sounding like a whisper. "How do you know I like white flowers?" she smiled looking at the charming white flowers.

“Do you want to talk about it?” The boy then says- which silences her back. She looks at the bouquet and thought about how her aunt had a garden full of flowers such as this. During their time in the garden, her aunt used to listen to all of her stories. From the most ridiculous, to revealing her darkest emotions. She always felt safe around her- for some reason, the boy... even though they were only just meeting, he gave out the same feeling she had when she was sitting in the garden with her aunt.

“I know, ew, talking about your feelings, and talking about them with a weird stranger offering to listen, but I swear it helps.”

Pea moves her head down. Breathing softly, knowing the boy is speaking the truth. This is the only chance she could talk about her feelings to anyone- other than in her diary. Putting her face onto her knee, she began to speak weakly.

"I- I just lost my aunt-" she gasped holding back tears again, even saying it- still hurts her deeply. "She's the only person I cared about and I probably ever loved. And I lost her- and I could've stopped her from- from going into danger. I could've come with her and I could've protected her! I could use my magic or-- or at least I could be with her!" She speaks the words fast with heavy breathing- as it is the most difficult word she could utter. The guilt that has been piling inside, was now pilled into her words.

There was a sense of relief that flooded him as he delivered the flowers to her and he heard her chuckle. If he had stopped paying attention for even one second he would have missed it. Alec was glad he didn't. It was a moment of some kind of light within the darkness. She didn't seemed to mind the gift. Although she had called him weird, for who gives a bouquet to a crying person you met in a bathroom? Him apparently. Alec could pick out the sadness in her tone. He was happy to have somewhat lightened the air, Alec chuckled in turn at being called weird. “Your only figuring that out just now?” He smirked, “did Onion the house elf not offer any insight?” He would ask in a gentle teasing tone. The moment of playfulness had been there for but a moment, and he would all so suddenly become serious again as she thanked him. She asked him how he knew she liked white flowers and on instinct the Gryffindor shrugged before he all to quickly remembered there was a door between them. She couldn't see him. “It was a lucky guess, I'm glad you like the flowers.”

Alec had then asked if she wanted to talk about what had been upsetting her. He mentioned it helped because it did, it had worked for him so many times, but it was different in this case. Expressing it all to a stranger, he wonder how much of a difference it made in this situation. Alec had always been hesitant to share his problems, it was harder to share his problems with strangers then it was someone he knew well. Maybe it was because he knew they understood. Then he'd heard what had come out of her lips. She'd just lost her aunt. “I'm sorry,” the soft whisper immediately left his mouth, he spoke without thinking though he doubted thoughtless words this time would cause any issues. The stranger sounded on the brink of sobbing again and it was tugging at Alec.

It wasn't hard to tell she was hurting. Something about it hit him harder when he looked back and remembered grieving friends he'd had before. The struggle was always there, he would not be able to tell her that it got any better, because it really didn't seem to. Year after year remembering loss the only way it seemed to improve was it getting easier to deal with. The stranger said she could have stopped her aunt from ending up in danger and that this person was the only one she'd loved. Alec stood and listened to her speak. She was torn up. Alec stood in silence as she finished speaking. Focusing on audible deep breaths. The other having sound like she was getting worked up with how fast she was speaking, the heavy breathing. He knew he wasn't going to comment, instead let her sit with his words out loud, it helped to get the words out. Alec knew words weren't much of a help. Not when it came to death. People never knew what to say.

“Death can be so... cruel and unfair. It's a kind of pain that feels like it can never be fixed.” Alec would be let unsure where those words had come from. Feeling the need to say it. To sympathize, it was often you could empathize with a person when it came to the subject of death. Grief was different and varied like people. “How are you feeling now?” Weighing on his mind was her feeling guilty over her aunt's death. Feeling like those were the sorts of things that tended to stick with you for a while. All logic knew she could not have prevented it, she had to know she couldn't have prevented happened, there were time however where it was easiest to listen to something else besides logic.

“did Onion the house elf not offer any insight?”

That is true. She wanted to chuckle again but a mere smile that he wasn't able to see is the best she could do at the moment. It was- very overwhelming when she just let out her emotion to this random stranger. Thoughts of regrets started to run around in her mind, but somehow in the deepest part of her heart.. she also felt.. relieved. That weight she have been carrying around, although not gone completely, it was like someone has dig out a giant stone that have been stuck in there.

Her mind is in such disarray talking to this.. boy. Part of her- wanted to give in to his sweetness but there's also- part of her that just would like him to leave her alone. She looks at the bouquet in her hand. The flower is still beautifully unchanging in her hand. Will her ego be willing to- to what? give in to his softness? Is this a joke? she would never let her guard down ever again. Her ego would not let it. Idiot! IDIOT! why would she cry and whine like that? But then again- she saw the white flower she was grabbing very tightly.

UGH-

“I'm sorry,” The boy said softly, again with his soft voice- completely reminding her of her aunt's.

STOP! she wanted to cry-

“Death can be so... cruel and unfair. It's a kind of pain that feels like it can never be fixed.”

Stop!

“How are you feeling now?”

Should She tell him the truth? or another lie. Her mind just kept running, trying to think of the best answer she could give to the boy. Whether she wanted to show her true self or return to her usual facade as the perfect- strong-headed- girl. But- she has never, felt better about herself ever since her aunt's death. This boy, manages to single-handedly make her chuckle in seconds when her friends have been trying to do that for days.

"I- i.."

"I- uh- do you think Onion the house elf use his chopped onion from here on our omelet?" it was the third option, changing the subject. But without realizing it, it should answer the boy's question as the tone in her voice is much lighter and brighter than it used to be. She didn't realize the boy have just successfully distracted her mind long enough for her not to think about her aunt. In the game of truth and lies, seemed that it was obvious who won.

The girl didn't seem to want to talk about it, to answer, and fair on her, it was hard to talk about. It sounded like a fresh wound, the news had to be somewhat new to her, she needed time, there was a lot of internal processing that went on before you could process it externally. Accepting the fact the other person was gone, how weird it was to just not have them around anywhere. It was shocking, enough to cause people to halt still, as if forgetting for a moment and remember it all over once again. Escapism was only a temporary solution, but sometimes it was the best option when you lacked the knowledge of any permanent one. What was her form of escapism? Changing the conversation, the topic, moving towards Onion the house elf, the thing that felt generally more light-hearted in nature than what they had originally been discussing. Alec laughed. “I would hope not, but you never know.” Spooky right? You just eat the food and you would never be able to make certain. It was one of those things. He supposed Onion was cautionary tale for the omelets.

“It might be best to avoid the omelets from now on. Onion seems like the type who wouldn't wash the onions.” Alec spoke, he shook his head, followed by tutting and letting out the most loud audible sigh he could. It was one of those disappointed sighs, how dare Onion go ahead and be so irresponsible? Onion had Hogwarts students to feed! “You think the ministry has health codes in place for this sort of thing? It has to be a violation... Right?” Alec asked, he was wondering aloud.

Who was in charge of that? Was it bad Alec didn't know? He thought he really should know considering it seems like an important thing to know. How was he supposed to even find out? “Not only with the germ-ridden onions in the omelets but the great mis-justice befalling students who enter and begin sobbing uncontrollably.” Alec spoke, he shook his head again.

Taking a deep breath the Gryffindor turned and leaned back, his back leaning against the stall door. He was leaning on a stall one stall away from the girl's own bathroom stall. He half-laughed a smile edging at the corner of his lips. Amused by the prospect, the situation of the house elf named Onion. “Why do you think Onion chops onions in the abandoned toilets anyway?” Alec asked, another thing he was wondering aloud. He pursed his lips, his eyebrows furrowing in thought. “Think it's on purpose?” He asked. Onion could have just used the kitchens.

Onion could have used anywhere, anywhere in the world the big, wide world and Onion chose to chop onions in the abandoned toilets. It wasn't a very glamorous place, Onion deserved better than this dump, the girl did too. What a conspiracy, for Onion to be chopping onions here on purpose. Why though? Would they ever get to know the truth? Causing the uncontrollable sobbing of the unfortunate visitors of the abandoned toilets. It just wasn't right. The poor people like the girl who had befallan such a fate from Onion's reign of terror. What a monster Onion was...

Somehow her topic change is a success. Or was it? She has stirred them deeper into onion the house elf talk and now she could not stop thinking about how all the omelets at Hogwarts are indeed questionable. Who would want to eat an onion that is cut inside a toilet, worse, an abandoned toilet? She tries hard to not imagine it or she's going to barf.

“Not only with the germ-ridden onions in the omelets but the great mis-justice befalling students who enter and begin sobbing uncontrollably.” The boy continues, Pea would never have continued a conversation as ridiculous as this, but somehow this time, the conversation just came naturally on her tongue. Is it because of the pure anonymity of their identity? She could be whatever she wants, without withholding some things she would like to say like she use to. Which she never thought to be possible.

"Damned Onion the House elf, I blame them for creating this mess." Pea continues while smiling. "But I'm not surprised, I bet Hogwarts does not have any monthly health inspector to check their kitchen or something." She bets its true. Who the heck in the wizarding world has the time and care in the world to check the health code violation in Hogwarts? For all she knows, all the onions here could be chopped up in this place by Onion the house-elf. Pea shudders at the thought. But she didn't realize they have been talking about this nonsense for minutes now and her tears had totally dried up. Not only that, he manages to make her stop thinking about her aunt for more than a minute. A record she might say.

"Do you think the reason Onion chops onion here is because he is feeling sad too?" The blue-eyed took a glance at the door frame of the stall, possibly trying to glimpse a little sight of the boy speaking to her but nothing was visible through the thin gaps.

She sighed, she felt something.. weird in her chest.. but unlike the sorrow she was feeling previously, it was.. something else. It was like a feeling her aunt gave her when they are together. Comfort.

"I... I think I understand Onion. Sometimes when I feel sad, I want to make other people sad too." Pea scoffs, "Demented I know, but it is just a relief knowing that you are not alone in this mess." The white-haired continues. "So to answer to question previously.. I feel... " she gulped like the next word she was about to say stuck in her throat. ".. like the worse person ever existed? is that dramatic?" Being honest again but this time- but she's not as scared as she was.

"My aunt is the only person I have left. My parents apparently... don't want me as a baby, shocking I know, and they decided to give me up to my aunt and my uncle. But surprise! my uncle died when I was 8 and after that my aunt changed.. she tried to hide it from me of course, but I know- I know her enough that she could never hide anything from me." Words kept rolling from her mouth as if she have been wanting to tell this story for a really long time.

"But this summer- I- I knew she was going to do something dangerous- and what did I do? having a laugh at the summer camp! even though she was alone and faced with a dangerous quest. She is obviously investigating Jay's uncle mysterious death." Pea chuckles at her own idiocy. She goes back to her original position, head on her knee while her hand is hugging her own two legs.

"You know that I could have come with her? at least... at least when she was in danger we could be in danger together. But all I do was relaxing inside the goddamned tent."

"Yes I'm a horrible person, people have told me that before, I am a person who never cares about other people, selfish, and- and egotistical- and all of that. And It's true. All of it."

Alec was surprised, to find the girl finally following through, answering as he asked her how she felt. He laughed in turn at saying she felt like the worst person to ever exist, asking if she was being dramatic. Alec shook his head. “No, not at all.” He couldn't voice how many a time he had felt the same way himself. “I...” There was a pause, stumbling over his words when he'd only just started to speak. In Alec's silence would be but the sound of his quiet breathing. A mask that had started to unravel itself as his jokey attitude dropped to something darker, something deeper hidden within. “I know what you mean though,” Alec spoke, finally breaking his silence. It was demented, wicked, twisted, though in the way Alec saw it this was the truth of nature. The darker sides people hide away of themselves for fear of judgement. The way in which it felt to- “It's an almost terrifying feeling- it, despite that, is an incredibly human one. Common, expected at some point.” Memories flickered past in his head, and through his mind, his actions last year, the part of himself that had no remorse. Talk of morality sitting against the wall in the corridors. It was so silly, so stupid, so small.

Alec knew exactly what he'd done and though he held them close as if they were the most horrendous actions an individual could perform... Alec recognized those actions meant nothing in the grand scheme of things. The girl continued to speak and Alec continued with his comments every so often, cutting in when she'd finished speaking and he felt it an appropriate time to speak. “Parents can suck, sometimes you end up with the worst of the lot.” Alec could think of many an example though that was neither here nor there.

She would talk about her aunt being off doing something dangerous while the girl was at summer camp, how she should have tagged along. Alec scowled shaking his head, his disagreed. “You did not know she was going to die, being off in a tent at summer camp doesn't make you selfish or egotistical.” Not that being selfish or egotistical was ever a moral wrong to begin with. With all her crying she seemed way more focused on another person than herself. “What selfish egotistical person spends all this time in the abandoned toilets wasting the day away, their emotions all on and about another person?” Alec asked.

The other was so focused on what other people thought of her too. Alec shook his head, folding his arms across his chest. “How do you perceive yourself?” Alec paused. “Not that it matters but...what's wrong with being selfish and egotistical?” Alec asked her, eyebrows knitting together. “I wish I was a little more of both.” He would admit, his face flushing lightly as he remembered the many a conversation had where worried friend expressed they wished he spent more time caring for himself than other people. Yet he was here, in a situation like this again, huh, funny how that worked out. “People shouldn't get mad your looking out for yourself.” Most do it. Survival skills right?

The silence between their conversation somehow doesn't feel as dark as it used to when she was alone. The silence in these walls used to haunt her, haunt her with every dark thought, fear, and loneliness that is constantly hurting. But with him, that darkness in the silence, somehow disperse into... something else. A twinge of hope that all seems to be lost just mere moments ago when she was alone. That is also what she felt when she was letting out her feelings, and having him answer them instead of her usual echo in her mind.

The boy listened to every word she is saying and answered those thoughts that have been corrupting her. “It's an almost terrifying feeling- it, despite that, is an incredibly human one. Common, expected at some point.” Pea moves her pupils to the side, he was telling the truth but somehow she feels a little guilty that the boy doesn't know how many horrible things she had done on top of this. But choose to keep silent. Maybe she likes that he is completely anonymous so that he always sees her as innocent as he sees her now. But wonders how long he could keep this nice treatment to her when he knows about the real her.

As Pea continues her sob story about her parents, she is surprised at one of the boy response. “Parents can suck, sometimes you end up with the worst of the lot.” She scoffs again at this, because of the much truth he spoke of. Her parents are simply just the worse type of people, who are cowards and pathetic. Now that he says that, she wonders if he also didn't have the most amazing parents as well. But- she could ask that any other time.

The boy continues to listen without complaining about her rambling, and every word he says continuously spooked her. Not in a bad way though. Somehow Pea is really surprised that anyone could say all that nice encouragement to her, because all she knows, most people would agree about her being selfish and egotistical. But not him. Just like her aunt, he understands her.

“How do you perceive yourself?” The question had Pea stumped. If just anybody asked that question to her, she would give them a 10-page essay on how amazing and utterly beautiful she is. But his question, somehow asking for more than that. “Not that it matters but...what's wrong with being selfish and egotistical? I wish I was a little more of both." Pea raises one of her eyebrows and chuckles. "Hah- you could learn a lot from me then." The girl laughs knowing those qualities will never leave her.

"How much I hate it- I will still perceive myself as those things- selfish and egotistical. But. Maybe you are right. I was just looking out for myself, and is that such a bad thing~?" Pea says, somehow sounding much like how she used to sound, the lazy yet cheeky tone in her voice.

"But...I really hope you are right." Pea smiled the last word as the amount of guilt she was feeling, felt a little lighter at the boy's encouragement.

The girl behind the door to the bathroom stall was one of a kind, and admittedly as she reinforced the fact she thought herself to be selfish and egotistical, Alec found himself intrigued. Truly he wondered just how bad she could be, and found it brave of her to admit anything like that at all. Where she stood with it- how she felt she was supposed to feel. Alec had accepted a long time ago that everybody had a dark side, nobody was saved from eventually falling towards it. He spent less judgment on morality than he did only making sure it didn't affect those he cared about. It was a shame he wouldn't be likely to see hers, how else can you tell the nature of a person than at their worst? Alec had brought up the way he thought he could use a bit more of both, she said he could learn quite a bit from her then, as she laughed, he smirked.

The girl said she'd still perceive herself as those things. But, maybe Alec was right, in the end the girl was looking out for herself, was it such a bad thing? Self-preservation was more important than Alec would be willing to admit. “There are much worse things you could do than looking after yourself. Cast an unforgivable curse and then we'll talk about perhaps considering you corrupt,” Alec would reassure and tease. Knowing he had done worse than having been selfish or egotistical, it was a wonder to have that be the thing she held against herself.

She eventually seemed to come to a sort of acceptance. The girl said she really hoped Alec was right, and he chuckled in turn, “of course I'm right. Why wouldn't I be?” It wasn't a teasing answer to act full of himself as it usually would have been. This time he believed it. Why shouldn't he? Alec let out making his way closer to her stall, as if walking closer somehow made it more personal.

“But seriously, don't be too harsh on yourself,” it was the last thing the girl seemed to need right now. Not when she had already been such a... mess. “Whenever Onion cuts the onions I expect I'll be seeing you here again.” He would joke, talking about the house elf to keep things like though in truth, he did expect to end up with her in here again. “Hang in there.”

And they would meet several times after, over and over again; for it was much easier to be weak and show your vulnerabilities when a grungy stall door would stop the two from meeting, from having to look one another in the eyes.
