Her hair looked quite nice to have been jinxed, but then again - magic did wonders. He was glad she wasn't left with a bald head, he's seen too many girls cry in the last few weeks. Much of her movement made him curious, what was going through her mind? She seemed pretty comfortable around him so far, so far. He didn't know what to say to her or if he should even say anything at all. It was was a couple of things that kind of bewildered him, there was an air of intimacy that was relaxing to be around. "A whole table by Marcus de Wynter."

He pressed his tongue on the inside of his cheek; he needed to make sure to watch out for such a student. He didn't want to end up getting a jinx on him either. His eyes had wandered to where her gaze was before, his hands. The young man put them up and waved them like 'jazz hands', "Thumb pulling, it's a bad habit of mind. I usually need something in my hands when I'm sitting still."

He supposed he should tell her something, she's given him so much information already. Not only that, he felt comfortable with telling her a few things. "I doubt you'll appreciate me asking about classes, but I'm not holding you up from supper or anything am I?" Everyone had places to be and he sometimes ends up pulling people more into conversation rather than letting them go.

"Trouble usually finds me."

She dramatically nodded her head when he repeated Marcus' name. To think that someone would go as far as to jinx the entire Ravenclaw table and get away with it. Now that was a student who had power in Hogwarts, and perhaps even further into the Wizarding World.

She laughed when he did jazz hands in front of her. However, when he explained that he always needed something in his hand, she stared at the rose bushes to the other side of him and blushed. Was he able to hear thoughts? How did he know that she was thinking of being in contact with him and was thinking about just touching his hands? Bloom blinked a couple times in a row to get her mind back to reality and without thinking, she laughed, "my hands are always available!" Bloom's laughter became nervous laughter and she slowly quieted down. She stared at the ground with shock. What did I just say and why did I just say that? Bloom's heart was pounding faster and faster.

Bloom could be going to her study group with her dorm mates, but she figured that since they would be there for hours, he wasn't holding her up at all. "Nope, not at all," she slightly lied. For some reason, she would rather herself be with him here than to sit with a pile of books and anxious Ravenclaw's. She wondered why he would ask if she had anything that she needed to do. What was he going to tell her? "Is there something you wanted to tell me?" she asked, helping him open up.

Available hands? It garnered a small chuckle from the first year as he rubbed his eyes. The question was an odd one, not that he found that bad. It wasn't something he normally wasn't asked by anyone except his parents. The question was a way for him to express his inner frustrations, the ones who've sat in the back of his mind like phantoms. His hand comes up to rub his neck, briefly swallowing the lump in his throat. "I think I'm just homesick right now, sometimes it feels like an overreaction." he distantly spoke.

Much of his smiles seemed to betray his true feelings, at least today seemed to be the case. The mood would come back every now and then like a persistent cough, the remedy was usually conversations like this. It was a temporary solace for him to not think about being so homesick and all. At this point, he was wishing he wasn't so plagued by this and would't mind just fully adjusting to Hogwarts out of necessity. He wanted to spare Bloom most of it, he didn't really know how to tell it to her.

Would she even be comfortable with such a confession? "I miss Derby and I felt odd coming into this school not knowing about things like 'purebloods' and 'muggles'. I catch on slow in my classes too, but I suppose that bit's normal for some." he amusingly admitted, looking back at Bloom. He tugged the collar of his cardigan, maybe this was a pain point for him.

He largely cared about what his peers thought of him, going to such a school seemed like you had to be a brilliant young witch or wizard. He didn't feel like one now, hopefully he would be in the future. "It'll wear off, I try to not let it get me so down. Besides, it's just my first year here anyway." His answers were short, afraid of drawing too much interest in himself and turning it into the Reid Kovacs Show. Yet that didn't mean he wasn't willing to expand upon it if asked.

Bloom listened to Reid. She pulled back her hair on her right side behind her ear and looked at him while he spoke. She wanted to understand where he was coming from because she knew that everyone had their own story. For some reason, Reid was a bit more mysterious to her.

Her thin lips made a small smile when he began to talk about being homesick. She completely understood where he was coming from. She had always been home with her parents and siblings. Now, she was alone and on her own to find friends and to path her life to success. It was a large jump for an eleven-year-old to go through. Thankfully, it was only for the academic year where they would be home during the winter and summer. But the problem? School had just started.

Butterflies in her stomach were getting stronger and stronger. She felt for him, but how could she show him? A hug? No, that would have been too strong. They just met and she needed to be a little more distant than just giving a stranger a hug. Bloom took her right hand and placed it on Reid's knee. Her body shifting to face towards him and she looked at him.

"What if we studied together? Maybe a Ravenclaw can teach you a thing or two," she joked, but really she meant to be sincere. She wanted him to know that she wanted to help him succeed. "Also, who cares about who's pureblood, half-blood or muggle-born," she added, "we are all wizards and witches who are striving to learn and be someone in this world." Bloom truly believed that it did not matter what kind of bloodline someone was, it was their creativity, hard work and determination that made them who they were.

Bloom realized that her hand hadn't moved from on his knee. Was it time to move it or was it supposed to stay there for a longer period of time? She had no idea. Bloom froze and couldn't think of what to do next.

She had nice hair for someone who was jinxed, he thought she looked quite pretty with the tied hair as as well. It was a pleasant response to quite a down and out topic, he appreciated it. Although the hand on his knee was response that came as a surprise. It made Reid actually freeze up as a result, his body went rigid as a corpse because he truly didn't know how to respond.

But surely it was just a gesture of comfort and the first year took it as such. The ends of his lips slightly curled into a smile, "I think that'd be a great idea. Actually, there's a study group being formed sometime soon. A Ravenclaw girl named Dymphna is forming it, if you're interested."

He made no comment about her hand, Reid knew better than to think of it anything more than a platonic gesture. He didn't want to make her feel bad about it either. Not only that, he was surrounded by rebellious boys his whole life up to now that he really didn't understand how girls acted. What was he supposed to do with her hand? Holding it certainly seemed like the wrong idea. It's not that girls were from another planet, he just didn't know 'how to interact' with them.

Yet did they truly act any different? He didn't seem to think so, they just seemed to be a bit more understanding than his male peers sometimes.  "I uh ..." He had been tugging his fingers, looking at them as he tried to remember what he was going to say. An awkward and crooked smile graced the odd boy's features, "I really appreciate you listening too. I didn't think I'd be able to keep anyone's attention for so long, you're a fantastic listener Bloom."

What else was he supposed to say? The Derby native glanced at his books, maybe he could keep the conversation going somehow. "That study group by the way was going to be on the weekends at three in the evening. I was having trouble with Potions and Charms."

Bloom could feel the stiffness of Reid's body from her hand on his knee. She absolutely did leave her hand there long enough. She slowly took her hand off when he began to talk about a study group that was already to be formed with another Ravenclaw. Of course there's one with a Ravenclaw in the process of getting formed..., she thought to herself, annoyed at the fact that Ravenclaw's have officially taken over the study room at all times.

"Yeah, that sounds great!" she lied. She didn't want to be with any more Ravenclaw's. And realistically, she was beginning to like him for how kind he was. How many other people are developing these feelings towards him, too? Probably a lot.

Bloom had already given two big moves onto Reid. She scooted closer to him and even placed her hand on his knee. Both did not make him realize that she was crushing on him. Maybe he just doesn't like me like that... He probably met someone else, she thought, rejecting herself instantly. Bloom, already had her hand taken off his knee, decided to scoot a little's away from him to give the same amount of distance as there was before she moved close. She crossed her legs and played with the edges of her skirt again, still listening to him.

"Thanks, Reid. You're a fantastic listener too," Bloom looked up at the Hufflepuff with a big smile on her face. Her laughing lines exposed and her brown eyes squinting from the sun. She then realized that because of her great listening skills, she probably got placed in the friend zone for good. Oh well..., she thought. She wasn't the type of person to push and instead left it alone. Her heart, however, was screaming. She felt as though it was telling her to tell him something, but she didn't know what.

"I'm pretty good with Charms. I mean, I could without the essays, but the spell practicing is fun," she added when he added about the two subjects that he needed to work on. She didn't need to work on any subject. Bloom was fine with each subject that was given to her. Her problem? Focus. She didn't want to just sit down for hours at a time and get everything done. She wanted to always have fun and do something adventurous. Which is probably why she didn't think of herself as a Ravenclaw to begin with.

Bloom can tell that their conversation was almost coming to an end. But she couldn't help but to want to keep it going and if it wasn't for now, then when? Maybe she could invite him to the Lake? No, that's weird. But she does want to go to the lake sometime and swim. She knows that there are a bunch of odd creatures in the lake to watch out for, but being young and naive had its moments.

"What adventures do you see yourself doing in Hogwarts?" she asked, wondering what his typical adventure would be. Maybe this could get him to stay a tad bit longer in thinking and for them to express their interests.

It was hard not to notice a slight change, yet he didn't know what else to think of it. Much of it was focused on what Bloom was saying. His gaze was often on her, but he still wasn't that comfortable with looking anyone in the eyes for too long. Perhaps this would be a good time to force himself to not always look down so much and work on his mannerisms. A mischievous look danced across his forest green eyes after she asked the question. Adventure? Well how much of his adventures already was he going to divulge?

Maybe it was best for him not to say too much. "I've had a couple of adventures already, I would say. But I'm really interested in Quidditch, maybe dueling as well. However, I don't know if I'd be a capable enough duelist in the future." he softly hummed. Reid used a finger to tug his tie loose just a bit and fixed his collar in the process. "Quidditch looks absolutely brutal, but exhilarating at the same time. I just don't know if I'd ever make the cut for Hufflepuff's team."

He was hard pressed to try, but how would he even prepare? It wasn't something he even watched before he came to Hogwarts, so the 'bludger' and 'snitch' were all new to him. The sole of the leather dress shoes scraped against the pavement as he pulled his feet back to himself. "What about you? Nothing to do with academics I would guess?" he sheepishly grinned.

It was a light joke, Bloom seemed to be in need of some exploration in her Hogwarts life. Maybe he can convince her to wander the grounds with him some time, if that wasn't too much of an odd request. That or they could possibly go with some others to Hogsmeade when it was possible.

Bloom never thought about Quidditch as a way of being adventurous. She wondered if she would ever try out for the team when it was time to do so. She knew it wouldn't be for a couple of years, and who knows what kind of person she would develop into. For now, she would consider herself a fan. She thought about duelling and wondered if she would be fit to be a part of that club. There was a problem. She heard rumors that the leader of the club was Marcus... Bloom was unsure if she wanted to keep finding herself intertwined with his presence.

"You'll make the cut. I can see you as a keeper or maybe a chaser," she said, thinking about Reid playing Quidditch. He would definitely be a very fit player and one that she would watch each time. She would probably root for Hufflepuff just because she knew he would be on the team. Bloom snapped out of day dreaming about Reid a Hufflepuff Quidditch player and went back to reality.

He asked Bloom what she wanted to do as an adventure at Hogwarts and she froze. What did she want to do? She wanted to have fun, but that wasn't something that benefited her for the future. Fun wasn't going to help pass the O.W.L.'s or the N.E.W.T.'s. It was just going to be for the moment and that was it. She played with the ends of her skirt and switched her legs while thinking of what she wanted to do. She had no idea and now it was awkwardly silent. I guess I could just say something fun..., she thought.

"I want to go swimming in the lake. I know it's dangerous and not wise, but that's my ideal adventure so far," she said softly. "So..." she left her statement open-ended. She wondered what he thought of that idea. Was it dumb? She didn't care anymore. The Hufflepuff didn't like her anyways, so what was there to lose? Bloom hoped that he didn't notice that she didn't really answer his question about what extracurricular she would partake in. If she was honest, she doesn't even know what to try out first.

He sometimes nearly forgot that there was a giant lake that surrounded Hogwarts in almost all of its entirety. But the response wasn't what he expected, especially since he had heard stories of the Great Lake. It wasn't the stories he imagined himself going to bed to. The first year dipped his head a little, still looking at her whilst talking. "Aren't you worried about what's inside?" he pensively asked. Yes, he was willing to dabble in known mischief - yet the lurking unknown was best personified by the Forbidden Forest and the Great Lake.

Two quiet and still bodies that surrounded Hogwarts held the deep unknown. Still, he didn't want to shut down the idea entirely and thought of a possible safer compromise. "I suppose we could stay near the shallowest end of the Lake just to be safe." Reid suggested. The boy never caught onto his use of 'we', rather than a single 'I'. Perhaps it was spurred by his own inner interests. He himself wanted to satiate his the need to explore and the Forbidden Forest was on his mind. Yet he'd never dare to suggest it to Bloom, in fact - no one ever.

It wasn't called the Forbidden Forest for fun, yet he was drawn to the allure like a sailor to a siren's call. Although he was genuinely concerned she might do something like this alone, terrible things happen when no one is looking.

Reid loosely folded his arms across his chest, sporting a weary and concerned smile, "I don't mean to sound odd when I ask this. But if no one is coming with you to make sure you're all right, do you mind if I tag along? It seems like a pretty interesting part of the area anyway." He wished he could've added that he didn't take her incapable of self-defense, but he found strength in numbers. It was how he met his muggle friends back in Derby.

"Trouble usually finds me."

Bloom never really thought about what was inside the lake. She heard stories about there people merpeople and squids, but she assumed that they would be deep into the lake. She only wanted to explore the shore line-- up to her knees at most. The thought of being in something so dangerous made her even more curious about it.

"Of course we would stay in the shallow parts. I'd like to not get eaten by squids, thank you," she joked, but then her laugh lessened because no matter where she was in the lake, something could always go wrong.

She could tell that he was thinking about something else. But the fact that he had not told her means that he wasn't comfortable saying something about it. Bloom wasn't going to push him. If she got to know him thus far, he would be honest and share if he wanted to. Perhaps later he would share with her something that he's been thinking about.

Her heart skipped a beat. Reid had asked to accompany her on her dangerous adventure. But the way he did it made her blush ever so slightly. "Oh um," she said, slightly flustered. "I'd love to have company," she finished. Yes, I'd love for you to tag along. But just you, she thought. Her heart was screaming of happiness, and the butterflies in her stomach felt as though they were moving around twice as fast. She took a deep breath and smiled. "When do you want to go? Nighttime is probably best," she suggested, wondering what he would say.
