Tree Trouble
Constantine sighed. His message seemed to be quite clear with everyone, save for the one person who needed it most. The Hufflepuff's face contorted into a mixture of disappointment and disgust, as he gave Luke one last look over. It truly was a sad sight to see, someone so ignorant of others. He shook his head, not bothering to delve into a deluge of insults and curses. "I'm sorry to hear that." Constantine said calmly. His sudden maturity seemed to appear all the more annoying to Luke, as he let out a huff of disapproval, along with a snippy "I don't care."
The Hufflepuff didn't know how he'd let the conversation go, though if he stayed any longer he'd certainly have the last word. "Of course." Constantine agreed, beginning to walk away from the group. Most of them had a considering look on their faces, as if taking their words to heart, but Luke simply looked complacent. Sometimes, Constantine guessed, it was just like that. Once they'd got a considerable distance away, so that an argument couldn't be sparked, he turned to Maisy.
"I'm really sorry, I should've tried harder. He was just so stubborn and...I...just couldn't get through to him." He apologised. The Hufflepuff was quite disappointed that he couldn't convince Luke, it made him feel like he'd confronted them for nothing. Maybe Maisy was right, and that confrontation wasn't the answer...

Maisy could not have predicted about things would go, but she had a feeling, despite her desire to think the best in people, that nothing she could have done would have convinced Luke of anything. He was stuck in his ways, and people like that, especially young people like that, never learned their lessons except the hard way. Hopefully, she wasn't around when that happened... but she had a sneaking suspicion it wasn't quite over.
Looking to Constantine, she managed a small, weary smile and shook her head, "Don't apologize. What you said... it was really smart. And he needed to hear it." Her smile brightened as she shrugged, "Even if it didn't do anything, the other boys seemed to feel bad, and I don't think someone like that is gonna last very long being a jerk without his friends to back him up."
Looking at her wrist, she gave it a little turn, holding it up, "And hey... It barely hurts at all anymore. Looks much worse than it feels. A few days, and it should be back to normal and all we'll have are memories, right? No harm done!" Grinning suddenly, she slung an arm around Constantine's shoulder and gave him a brief, spirited hug, "Thanks, Constantine... For standing up for me."

Constantine hummed, thinking about what Maisy had said. Whilst he agreed, it would've been nice to of convinced them all. To argue against that though, it was better to convince one of the group than none at all. At least some of them were willing to see the error in their ways. "You're underselling yourself! Your acting was really convincing. " The Hufflepuff applauded with a small clap. It had been truly compelling, and the boy hadn't expected it in the least.
He returned the hug with a small squeeze, careful not to touch her sore wrist. "That's a relief - I was tempted to push you along into the Hospital Wing." He admitted with a laugh. Constantine was glad they'd got off reasonably well, even if they shouldn't have been hurt in the first place. He brushed off Maisy's last comment with a shrug, "It's not an issue. I'm just happy everything seems to have sorted itself out." Constantine chimed. The Hufflepuff wouldn't mention the way Luke had looked at them both before they'd left - he hoped that the confrontation would be the last they'd hear of him, even if it wasn't a very likely wish at all.

Laughing, Maisy shook her head, blushing softly, "I... I wasn't really acting, so much. I was pretty terrified, once we got up the hill, and I saw... I saw the way they were all just staring and I sort of panicked. And then he was so nasty to you and I just..." The smile fell and she shrugged, "I don't care what they call me... I meant what I said. You're worth ten of them. And anyone like you, too."
When she released him a moment later, she stepped back and rubbing her arm, her lips folded up in another smile, "I was thinking the same thing about your cheek. You're sure it'll be alright if we just leave it?" Whatever she had said about scarring, she didn't necessarily savor the idea of seeing him wandering around with a marred face, on her account.
Looking back in the direction they had come for a second or two, she grimaced, before turning back to the castle, "At least it's all over... Or I hope it is, anyway. I dunno... I have a feeling things at Hogwarts aren't going to be quite as easy as they were at my old school... But I guess we'll find out. Let's go get you cleaned up."
