Rani knew unexpected things were bound to happen, after all, this whole magic school had been unexpected. But when the towering doors to the Great Hall opened, she was in awe. She sure as hell hadn't expected this. The great hall was true to its name, in fact, it was the greatest hall Rani had ever seen.
Once the last students had made their way through the doors, the sorting ceremony was ready to begin. Rani remembered being told about the houses, and she had already made a favourites list in her head. She liked making lists. Ravenclaw by far intrigued her the most. That house was for smart children. Am I smart? the girl thought. She didn't have a lot of time to ponder, because soon she was startled by the sound of her name.
"Adler, Rani!"
Obviously, she was one of the first students because her name started with an A. Nervously, Rani approached the stool and carefully sat down. She closed her eyes as the hat started talking.
"Well well well... I see you're nervous, there's no need to be," a voice in her head started to speak. Rani's hands were shaking, but she tried to remain calm. "Interesting..." the hat mumbled, "I see an ambitious person, goal-oriented," the hat paused for a moment. The girl wondered what it thought of her.
"Loyal, too," it continued, "But I also see a creative mind, and the desire to gain knowledge," Rani held her breath.
"I know where to put you, RAVENCLAW, IT IS!"
Immediately applause erupted at the blue table. Rani stood up and headed towards the long table that belonged to Ravenclaw. Her house. A new chapter of her life was about to start.
And she couldn't be more excited.

Efelion found himself where his parents once stood, in the great hall of Hogwarts, the school to which his parents had been. Efelion was anxious about all the people around him, It was quite a large amount of people, Efelion had never seen such a fathering before outside of the quidditch matches he had been to. At least the quidditch matches had been more spread out than the confined space of the hall, although it was large, it had quite many people in it.
Efelion looked at the walls decorated with portraits of witches and wizards scattered all around, the tables full of older children around them, it was almost panic-inducing to him. Efelion could see his friend Alora nearby, they must have gotten separated by all the other students as they walked into the hall. He was once again alone in the unknown, normally he would enjoy the idea of that but with how many people were around he was not excited one bit.
Efelion had heard of the ceremony from his parents, he knew all about it, about the hat, and when the hate corrected the headmaster Efelion couldn’t help but chuckle a little bit. Maybe the ceremony wasn’t going to be as bad as he thought. He looked around at all of the people and swallowed a large gulp as the names began to be called one after another. Efelion watched as sometimes the hat would talk quite often, sometimes it only touched the head for a split second. He wondered if family records took a part in how the sorting hat acted.
Efelion was the type of person that when he saw something that he didn’t understand he would be inquisitive and try and learn about it but he had no reference for the hat, was it in fact sentient or just enchanted? He was not sure about what it truly was. Efelion wasn’t paying attention when his name was called out the first time. But it came again louder.
“Efelion Berrendow!”
Much louder this time and it had snapped him to attention, Efelion took a deep breath and walked forward step by step. Taking deep breaths to now become overly anxious about the situation, he knew that he would be ok if he just kept calm. Efelion stood there as calmly as he could as the hat was lowered.
Ah, a seeker of knowledge, insatiable hunger for exploring, a need to know as much as possible… there is only one place for a boy like you… Just like your mother and father…
Ravenclaw!
Efelion breathed a sigh of relief as he looked over at the Ravenclaw table which had burst into large applause for their new comrade. Efelion felt relieved and walked over to the cheering table, it had been chosen, decided, just as his parents were. A Ravenclaw.

Anna found herself where her parents, and cousins once stood and maybe her siblings, will stand one day. she has seen many magical things since arriving at Hogwarts. but anna can't up but focus her attention on the rather worn-out appearing hat that will determine, which house she shall spend the seven years in. Anna was very aware of all the people around her and watching her and the rest of the first years, she had never been near this many people she could hear the people behind her giggling and some whispering nervously. Anna just wanted this to be over so she could find a place to hide this is too many people and she was from a small town and is an introvert, how the hall managed to fit so many people and not look crowded had to be because of magic.
Anna glanced up to stare at the celling trying to see if she could spot any constellations, she knew it was charmed to look like the night sky but even then, she wanted to reduce the homesickness she was feeling. sure, being on the train and the getting food off the trolley lady was nice, but right now standing in front of all these people is nerve racking. And she much rather she was at home sitting with her parents in front of the fireplace listening to her dad and mum stories of Hogwarts. now that Anna is at Hogwarts all she wants is to be anywhere else. Ironic really leading up to this she was so impatient and couldn't wait to be at Hogwarts, and now she'd much prefer being with her family.
Anna knew walking in here what would be happening from her cousins when it was their sorting and how the hat judged fairly and listened to people's wishes. he knew all about it, about the hat, and when the hate corrected the headmaster. Anna was snapped out of her thoughts when she heard the hat correct the headmaster, she could hear people giggling and chuckling Anna just smiled awkwardly it was clever, but she didn't quite get the joke. she looked around at the small amount of the people in front of her and swallowed a large gulp as the names began to be called one after another. she was really wishing she had more time, but she also noticed that sometimes the hat would talk quite often, sometimes it only touched the head for a split second. She wasn't quite sure how long it would take for her.
Ann was the type of person that was quite happy to blend into the shadows, she hated being the centre of attention but loved showering her friends and family with love. At home she was known through the town as a firecracker and to her that made sense she had to as she was the oldest sister, if someone messed with her baby brother she got even as no one was allowed to mess with him except her. Anna eyes snap up to look at the headmaster as he calls out her name.
“Anna Xavier!”
Anna took a deep breath and walked forward step by step. Taking deep breaths to try to remain calm and not to burst into nervous tears in this overly anxious inducing situation, she hoped that everything would be okay, everything goes silent as the hat touches her head
"Well Miss Xavier, your family comes before anything and your sense of honour as well as sense of right and wrong is great, your love for your family stands out much more than that though, you’d do well in many of the houses and yet I think you will thrive in this house… yes I think you will do well here…
"better be Gryffindor!"
Anna let go of the breath she didn’t know she was holding as a sign of relief that it was over, she could go find a seat and start her journey, she glanced over at the Gryffindor table which has burst into loud cheers for their new member. Anna felt happy and relieved she was a Gryffindor Ann felt relieved and walked over to the cheering table smiling this was just the beginning after all.

Keith had never seen anything so wonderful in his life. His aunt always told him stories about the place, but never could he have been prepared for it. All he could do was stare. The ceiling, looked well, magical! And at the tables, he saw so many people, he suddenly got very nervous. He was scared of how his parents would react if he got sorted into anything but Slytherin. He looked over at the Gryffindor table, everyone who was seated there looked so welcoming, just as his aunt had described.
Keith was super impatient, there were a lot of first years. As his last name was Moore, he had to wait for about half the alphabet to be sorted, which to him was taking forever. He was getting more and more nervous by the second. He heard someone say, "Oh, I'm so nervous!" He turned to see who it was but didn't see anybody.
Keith looked up at the ceiling, it was beyond beautiful. He looked back to see a girl getting sorted, "RAVENCLAW" the hat shouted. He watched her walk over to the Ravenclaw table, while all the Ravenclaws were clapping and excited.
"Keith Moore"
It was finally his turn. He hid all his nervousness and walked up to the stool. As the hat was placed on him he calmed a bit, "Ah, a Moore, not quite like your father I see." the hat said. "I see creativity and a little thirst for knowledge. I also see you're very loyal, you'll go to the ends of the earth for your friends. You're brave and very daring. Ah yes, a difficult one, I think this house will suit you best though. You'll be in" the hat paused, then yelled, "GRYFFINDOR!"

Lyam was not feeling well. The boat trip had been the final straw. He was already horribly stressed, but to take on four children in a boat that was swaying in water as black as coal... He who hated water felt bad. One of his comrades had asked him with concern if he was feeling well. He had nodded without answering for fear of giving back what he had eaten on the Hogwarts Express. But the place was magical. The room was huge and glowing. Four large tables lined up, waiting for the newcomers. In front of them stood a tall man, in his forties, majestic. He introduced himself as Solomon Lear, the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He then introduced the distribution ceremony and presented the hat that stood next to him as a very sentient hat. The hat spoke for itself, surprising all the newcomers, saying that it was intelligent. Then the headmaster went on to say that the hat would be placed on the heads and that he would read the minds and souls to determine the best house for each one. When he had finished, he took out a scroll with the names of the new students written on it. It was at this point that the hat began to sing.
At the end of the song, the headmaster called the new students one by one. Lyam's name began with P so he still had time to prepare himself mentally. It was an essential part of a wizard's life, this ceremony. He was afraid of the outcome. His Grandfather had joked that he must not end up in Hufflepuff or he would disinherit him. He knew it wasn't meant to be and that even if he did go to Hufflepuff, his grandfather would still love him. At the same time, he was their only grandchild. His mother was an only child and he himself was an only child.
After waiting patiently for his turn, Lyam heard his name being called at last.
Lyam Park
He nervously walked over to the hat that was placed on his head. Suddenly he heard a voice in his mind :
Ah, I can see many things... I sense a lot of Majesty...
For you, your best quality is still creativity and i can see your desire to be beloved by all and you would be ready to face everything to get recognition from others.
Indeed, Hogwarts, is, without a doubt, the ideal place for you to reach your goals and dreams.... And i have no doubt about wich house will take you to them...
How long, can't he hurry up a bit? thought Lyam
Finally he got his answer :
Ravenclaw !
Lyam went to sit at the Ravenclaw table and waited for the sorting to end and the meal to begin.
" A thousand years or more ago
When I was newly sewn,
There lived four wizards of
Whose names are still well known:
Bold Gryffindor, from wild moor,
Fair Ravenclaw, from glen,
Sweet Hufflepuff, from valley broad,
Shrewd Slytherin, from fen.
For were their such friends anywhere
As Slytherin and Gryffindor.
Unless it was the second pair
Of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.
United by a common goal,
They had the selfsame yearning
To make the world's best magic school
And pass along their learning.
Now each of these four founders
Formed their own house, for each
Did value different virtues
In the ones, they had to teach.
While still alive they did divide
Their favorites from the throng,
Yet how to pick the worthy ones
When were they dead and gone?
Twas Gryffindor who found the way,
He whipped me off his head
The founders put some brains in me
So I could choose instead!
Now slip me snug about your ears,
I've never yet been wrong,
I'll have a look inside your mind
And tell where you belong!
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've got a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends. "

Emily stood stock still when her name was called. Just step forward, a voice hissed in her ear. She walked forward, woodenly, and approached the stool where the sorting hat rested. Despite seeing dozens of students go before her she couldn't help the elevated heart rate her anxiety always seemed to produce.
The sorting hat slipped over her eyes as it was placed over her auburn hair. A slight gasp emitted from her when the voice began speaking.
"Ahhh hmm, yes, a busy mind you have here." The Sorting Hat mused. "Cleverness there is no doubt. A will to prove yourself," a chuckle here, "I see those brothers have left that mark. And a thirst for something, something you dare not even name. What is that? Ambition? Acceptance? Knowledge? Friendship? Hmmm, I suppose you'll have a chance to discover that for yourself in..."
"RAVENCLAW!" The Hat called out.
Emily sagged from a diffusion of adrenaline. She hadn't even given much thought to what house she would like. Just somewhere where she could find herself. Guess she could find herself amongst the others also searching for 'something' as the Hat had put it.
She slipped off the stool amidst the applause and made her way to the Ravenclaw House table. Fingering her now blue and bronze tie she smiled to herself thinking of the Eagle knocker she had read so much about. Her gaze turned toward the Head table and she felt her throat clench as she locked eyes with her new Head of House, Marcus Iwasaki. He was impossibly handsome and certainly too young to be a Head? He gave her a nod as she took her seat, a de facto welcome to her new home for the next seven years.
Emily gulped, her nerves bubbling up once more, and gave a small smile to her new housemates.

To say Miciela was excited was the understatement of the year. On the train ride there, Miciela couldn't help but marvel at the ever-changing terrain outside her cabin window. It was greenery and mountains galore. Never being out of the farm, this scenery was a new experience for her. She has never seen so many trees or small towns. Her face was practically glued to the window. Of course, once the cart of all the goodies came by, she bought a little bit of everything, eager to try it all. By the end of the train ride, she practically had a food baby, but that didn't stop her from endlessly chattering to everyone. Her endless chatter didn't stop until the train stopped and all the first years were escorted into the castle. Once they were in the castle, she was stunned into silence.
She heard tales of how grand the dining hall is, but seeing it in person was something else. The long tables were filled with students studying the first years. The teachers stood proudly at the head of the room, and the headmaster greeted each student as they came in. Looking up at the ceiling, she saw the most amazing view she has seen so far today. Where the ceiling was supposed to be, there was a sky full of stars there with floating candles. She couldn't help herself but to reach out as if she could touch them. It was truly a wonder for her.
Solomon's booming voice startled her out of her marvel, "Welcome first-year students..." As he spoke, Miciela couldn't help but get excited again and thought to herself This is going to be amazing! Oh my goodness! Look at the hat! I wonder what things he's seen or heard. Running a hand through her unruly curls, she smiled seeing the hat speak out. It was truly intelligent as it said it was.
Miciela was impatient once the names began to be called out, Mom just had to marry someone whose last name begins with an R. After waiting a few hours, she finally heard her name,
"Romano, Miciela!"
With a goofy grin on her face, she practically ran up to the chair and threw the hat on her head. The sorting hat mumbled and mused to itself, "Hmmm, what an energetic little thing you are. A fierce young mind, but so impatient and stubborn... Full of eagerness and desire to learn... Always one of the first ones to volunteer yourself... "GRYFFINDOR!"
Miciela pushed the hat off her head and eagerly ran towards her table, excited to meet all the new faces. Right away, she was introducing herself with a goofy grin on her face.

─────Shuffling nervously in her place amongst the other first years, Avery can't help but allow her eyes to travel across the vast hall. Despite having learned in her short amount of time here at the castle that it's probably best to just go into everything without any expectations, the magnificent interior of the Great Hall still shattered any expectation she managed to harbor. The four dining tables that dominated the majority of the hall were already filled with older students, which was an intimidating enough fact. The thought of standing before both the other students and the professors to be sorted filled her with some strange mixture of excitement and dread.
During the Headmaster's booming speech, Avery listens in with rapt attention. A small smile makes its way to her features at the bit of banter between him and the Sorting Hat. She looks to each Head of House as they're introduced before her attention is drawn back to the Headmaster. Standing amongst the other first years, she knew that it was a fairly sizable group. But this observation was not nearly enough to prepare her the length of the list the Headmaster retrieved. Oh dear.
As the Sorting Hat begins its song, Avery allows her attention to drift around the hall once more as nervousness builds in her chest. Granted, she didn't know too much about the different houses beyond the general descriptions and she assumed the Sorting Hat had been at this long enough to know what it was doing. It seemed to be stemming more so from the fact that this moment would rather heavily dictate the next seven years of her life at school. A rather daunting realization at such a young age.
Avery only partially listens as the names from the list are called out, the horde of waiting first years around her slowly diminishing as they're sorted. She waits with hands clasped behind her back, rocking on her heels to keep her mind at least somewhat occupied. It's only when her own name rings out in the hall that she snaps back to attention. Swallowing thickly, she pushes her way to the front and cautiously approaches the Headmaster and Sorting Hat at the forefront of the staff area.
With a quick, nervous smile to the Headmaster, Avery turns and perches upon the stool. Making the mistake of looking out over the rest of the hall holding the students, she drops her gaze to the floor in front of her and waits in anticipation. The sensation of the Sorting Hat being rested atop her head still manages to startle her despite her attempt to play it off as merely shifting in her seat. As the voice of the Sorting Hat rings out, the first year attempts to sit up a little straighter even as her heart hammers in her chest.
Now, now. No need to be so nervous. Let us see here...ah, yes. Not one to shy away from hard work, that's for certain. Perhaps a little too modest. And yet, not afraid to stick up for your friends or your beliefs. Very well, I believe I know exactly where you belong. May you find your place in...
Hufflepuff!
Avery doesn't realize she's been holding her breath until her new house is announced to the hall. She feels her cheeks flush at the smattering of applause from some of the older students. As soon as the Sorting Hat is lifted from her head she quickly slips from the the stool and hurries down the aisle towards an empty seat near some of the other first years at the Hufflepuff table. Meeting the gaze of a couple of smiling students, some of the nerves dissipate a little as she returns a small smile of her own. Hufflepuff, huh? She could get behind this choice.

===Except for his grandfather, a Slytherin, Morgan's parents have never been to Hogwarts. But because he isn't with her, she can't question him regarding Hogwarts, so she studies several books about the school to learn more about it. She also learned about the sorting hat. She believes the sorting hat will find something about her that she is unaware of.
===The headmaster started to introduce himself, the sorting hat, which he corrected for being intelligent and not sentient, and lastly, the head of houses. There are a lot lot of students. Although her surname begins with the letter K, she must wait for the other students to be sorted.
===“Kingsley, Morgan!” She heard her name being called out. She climbed and sat on the stool when it was her turn. What if she didn't get sorted? What if she has to go home because she didn't get sorted? What about her dreams of being a talented witch? Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard a voice inside her as the old cloth of the hat slipped over her eyes, covering her vision of the rest of the hall.
===“Don't worry, I'm not going to send you home. It doesn't work that way.”
===“Hmm.. you're always reading books.. a studious and intelligent girl.. but you use that trait to trick people off.. you're determined to your goals.. that is why you're very hardworking just to achieve it.. you make your decision without hesitation and are not frightened to face a potentially dangerous situation. Hmm, young lady, you're hard to sort out. But as I said, I won't send you home. ”
===What's the bad news? Morgan is difficult to sort out. Once she heard that, she was back in her what-if thoughts again. But when she heard another word from the sorting hat that she would not be sent home, she was relieved. If she was sent home, she would rather remain in her bedroom for the rest of her life. That will be really humiliating.
===It takes a moment for the hat to speak again. She felt her whole body tense about which house she'd get sorted into. She didn't understand what the hat told her earlier, but she remembered it.
===“Your boldness is outstanding! Now I know where I'm going to place you.. the house of-
===GRYFFINDOR!!!”

Sorting Ceremony
Salem Nachtnebel
Sept. 1st, 2022
The ride from Platform 9 3/4 had been a pretty easy ride, though a lonely one. Salem hadn't made any friends along the way, and seemed to be a bit outcasted for her loud personality. However, she was not going to let that get her down, because before her was the castle she always dreamed of was finally in front of her: Hogwarts.
Ever since she was a little girl, Salem desperately wanted to attend Hogwarts. However, in her early childhood it seemed as though that dream would die out. She grew up in poverty in a small town in Germany, so there was truly no chance that Salem would be attending. That was, until her Great Great Aunt Thea, who lived in England, reached out to the family and invited them to live with her so they could get back on their feet. The move was harsh, but oh was so so worth it. Great Aunt Thea had been an angel in Muggle form, but now she really was an angel as she had passed away a few years ago. Thea's last words to Salem were to never give up, never let her dreams die, and keep moving forward. Salem was not about to let her down, especially now that she was at Hogwarts.
After getting off the small boats, the students were led inside the castle and to the Entrance Hall. Salem was beyond excited for what was lying ahead of her behind the large doors to the Great Hall. What house would she be sorted into? Gryffindor? Ravenclaw? Hufflepuff? Slytherin? She really didn't know, and had no family to look up to as no one else had attended Hogwarts before. Oh she hoped she was sorted into a good one!
The large doors finally opened, and Salem and the rest of the first years were let in. They stood together in a line, waiting to be called up to a stool that stood at the front of the room, and an odd brown hat was sat on top of it. One by one, students were summoned and had the hat placed upon their head before it bellowed out what house they belonged to. It was fascinating to Salem, to see a talking hat. So fascinating in fact that she nearly missed hearing her name be called.
"Salem Nachtnebel!"
Salem nearly jumped out of her skin. It was finally her turn, and by the gods was she nervous. She silently prayed to Hades to give her courage as she stepped up to the stool, sitting down on it and looking out at everyone else in the Great Hall. Slowly and carefully, the hat was placed upon her head, and within a second it shouted loudly, "Gryffindor!!!"
The table that would be assumed to be Gryffindor's roared with cheers. Salem beamed brightly with excitement as she stood up and went over to her new table. She hoped perhaps maybe she would make some friends here tonight!
