Paracelsus vs. Bailey- No wait, Lucy Finished

Serena entered the room, walking towards the stage that lay in the middle. This was the second day of duels that she had to moderate. She just hoped that it would go smoothly. Serena really did not want any deaths on her watch. She looked around and saw a group of students lined up by the stage. Lifting the parchment up towards her, she scanned the names off it. There were a lot of students that she did not recognise the name of. That did not matter, however. She was here to do a job, not to socialise, "Hello everyone. I'm Serena, one of the Hufflepuff Prefects and I'll be running your practice duel today. You should already know how to duel so I won't be teaching you, but rather overseeing it. When I call out your name, come to the stage and take your place opposite your opponent," She explained in a matter of fact tone that was unusual for her. Serena was usually seen smiling. This was definitely a far more serious side of the girl.

In truth, fighting was never something Serena enjoyed. In fact, if she had a choice then she would never let anyone fight. Unfortunately, with the recent events she had witnessed, she had learnt that it was essential to learn how to duel. She had seen too many people wound up injured after failing to perform a basic level spell. It was truly terrifying to know that her friends and housemates had been so close to death. Yes, students needed to learn basic duelling spells that would help them protect themselves in their time of need. Sadly, it was something they may rely on.

Glancing down at the paper, she picked the next two names that she saw on it, "Paracelsus Adger Myth and Bailey Byrne, please take your places," She said calmly as she pointed to either side of the stage to indicate where they should stand. She took a deep breathe and watched the students. She did not know either of these students but she just hoped they could stand their ground in this duel - and avoid getting too hurt. She really did not want to deal with injured students.

Serena spoke up in a firm but calm voice, "Keep the battle clean and give it your best shot. You may begin once you've both taken your position, bowed and have indicated you're ready." She instructed as she waited for the pair to come up on stage.

Paracelsus vs. Bailey- No wait, Lucy Finished
Parcel was yawning as he stood in line by the stage. It seemed like forever since ha had signed up for the practice duel, but they had yet to call his name. It wasn’t like all he could wait for was to duel or anything like that, he didn’t want to say he was a violent person either, but he didn’t like to wait this much. If he was going to duel he would at least like to do it before he was as old as his father or even grandfather... gosh, they was taking their time with this.
Hearing the door open behind him he looked over at the person walking in. He noticed the prefect badge on the Hufflepuff girls robe and figured she was the moderator for the matches to come. Looking from the badge and up to her face he didn’t think he had seen her bef--… “wait”, he was pretty sure he had seen her before somewhere. Trying to come up with where he had noticed the girl before, he almost tuned out her voice.
“…When I call out your name, come to the stage and take your place opposite your opponent… Paracelsus Adger Myth and Bailey Byrne, please take your places,"
Coming back from his own train of thought as the sound of his name was called, Parcel started pushing through the crowd of students standing around him. Seems like his prayers was heard and he finally got to have his turn on the dueling stage.
When he had squeezed himself past the last students between himself and the stage he could finally start to climb the stairs up to the platform he was to duel on.
Taking another glance at the Hufflepuff prefect Parcel snapped his fingers and raised his eyebrow a tad in surprise, he remembered where he had seen her before! She was that yucky girl that was trying to kiss that Gryffindor prefect at the Blossomfest Grounds! He remembered it clearly now, they were all like holding their hands around each other and about to kiss but then there were all those other kids that tried to stop them! Oh, and he was glad he hadn’t tried to interfere because right after that one of them had a slingshot and stuff… Well, it seems like it worked out for her though, she hasn’t died from cooties yet at least.

With his ears visibly redder Parcel speedily looked away from the kissy prefect and instead focused on where his opponent would be entering the stage. There was two sets of stairs on the stage, one for each of the participants, so if Parcel just focused on the stairs then he wouldn’t have to look over at the Hufflepuff prefect… Gosh, his ears was already red enough as it was, and Parcel could imagine them become even redder if he were to look at her again.

Parcel Pulled out his wand as he waited for the girl he was about to duel. While he waited he also started formulating his plan of attack. Should he play nice or try to go for the throat at once? He had been schooled thoroughly in tactics and stances by his grandfather, who was a real dueling enthusiast, so Parcel was confident in his own ability to strategize.
What he was most unsure about was how hard he should go from the start. He was a first year and what he knew of dueling-spells was rather limited.
While standing there with his wand out, Parcel noticed that… that it was taking a rather long time for his opponent to enter the stage.
Parcel’s opponent didn’t enter the stage at all, not even after the kissy prefect had called her name again. Was she perhaps scared? Did Parcel intimidate her? Well, of course he would, he was the embodiment of danger after all, just looking at him would bring fear to anyone that would think to oppose him, or, at least that’s what Parcel thought. He really hoped he wasn’t intimidating like the kissy prefect, in a “I kiss lots of boys and is super experienced and stuff” way. Parcel didn’t really know if the kissy prefect kissed lots of boys, but she was the only first year that Parcel had seen being all yucky and stuff, so she had to be the most experienced girl in their year, like all she did was probably kiss boys and like snuggle with them…
Just thinking about it made Parcel’s ears redder, they would soon be the color of ripe tomatoes.
"Alright then... I assume your opponent isn't here today... Perhaps you should duel me..."

“Wh- whaa- what!?” Parcel’s whole body jolted as the kissy prefect suggested to duel him. That would be terrible for Parcel! How could he duel someone he couldn’t look! All he saw when he looked at the girl was her trying to kiss someone! And intimate relations with the opposite gender was Parcel’s only weakness!... um.. Yeah! The only weakness! He would lose the match for sure, and nobody wanted to lose their first match!
"On second thoughts, lets see... How about... Ah! Lucy O'Sullivan of Hufflepuff?... On second thoughts, lets see... How about... Ah! Lucy O'Sullivan of Hufflepuff?"
Parcel felt a huge weight being lifted from his shoulders, at least he wouldn’t have to duel the kissy prefect, anyone else would be fine. He would even duel the professors before the kissy prefect, at least the professors didn’t go around kissing people.
He almost clutched his chest in relief, but stopped himself half way, although his facial expressions probably were as unreadable as a goblin in Gringotts. Parcel suspected that if he suddenly clutched his chest then the kissy prefect would think something was up and ask him if he was alright, and then he would do something like stammer like an idiot or turn redder then the scarlet on his robe.

It didn’t take long before his new opponent entered the stage. Parcel bowed to the blond girl that walked on stage before he entered a stance as if ready to attack at a moments notice. The thoughts from earlier is easily forgot as he stares down the opposing Hufflepuff. This is his first duel and Parcel won’t let anything mess up his rhythm, especially nothing as trivial as a yucky kissy prefect.
Clicking his tongue Parcel lowers his center of gravity and gets ready to spring into action.
"Begin!"
Parcel jumps into action as the all clear is given. Pushing his body forward aggressively as he flicks his wand forward.
“Flipendo!”
He didn’t bother with much of a tactic yet, just go hard or go home.
Stance: Aggressive Spell: Flipendo

Paracelsus vs. Bailey- No wait, Lucy Finished
Serena frowned as she looked back down at the paper. Only one student had taken their place on the duelling stage, ready to attack their opponent. A boy with brown hair that she did not recognise. His opponent had not moved... She had called out two names, Paracelsus Myth and Bailey Byrne. The former was from Gryffindor, according to this sheet she had, whilst the latter from Slytherin. Judging by the colour of the boy's robes, Serena figured he was the Gryffindor boy named Paracelsus. Looking up, she called out again, "Bailey Byrne?" Trying to summon the other student to take their place. No one moved, however.

The Hufflepuff pressed her lips today, "Alright then... I assume your opponent isn't here today... Perhaps you should duel me..." She continued, pondering out aloud. She contemplated for a moment, wondering if she should just do that so the boy could practice. She had already had her own practice duel and was aware of how they worked now. Unfortunately, it meant that there would be no one to moderate the duel, making it a bit more dangerous and harder for her to judge. "On second thoughts, lets see... How about... Ah! Lucy O'Sullivan of Hufflepuff?" Serena called out another name from the paper, summoning the new opponent to the stage.

"Alright then, Lucy, you'll be his new opponent. Please take your position here," She indicated as she pointed to the other side of the stage. Taking a step back, out of the way, she waited for her fellow Hufflepuff to come forward and take her place.

Once they were both in positions, they had bowed to each other and looked ready, Serena nodded, "Begin!" She called out, starting the duel officially.

If only she knew the thoughts that were occurring in the boy's head... If she did, she would gladly had taken him on as her opponent and whacked those nasty thoughts right out of his head. Good thing she had no idea what he was thinking - the poor girl would be mortified and incredibly embarrassed.

Paracelsus vs. Bailey- No wait, Lucy Finished
When Lucy heard the names called out, she relaxed. Her hammering heart slowed as she waited to witness another epic duel between two first-year students. However, only one student walked onto the stage. She paused, looking around. Whispers filled the air as her prefect called for the girl again.  Uh-oh. This hiccup was a bit embarrassing. She was glad for the girl's sake that she was truly absent and wasn't just not paying attention.

She settled against the wall again, wondering what would happen as the boy awkwardly stood on the stage by himself, when she heard her name called. WHAT?! She wasn't prepared! And now everyone was looking at her because of the unusual events. Her heart hammered as she clumsily walked up the steps and took her place at the end of the platform, bowing slightly and feeling like she was going to throw-up.

Her jitters at being called up in such an awkward fashion were intensified. She realized she hadn't even strategized while she was standing in line! How foolish! She automatically shifted to a slightly defensive stance, trying to figure out what she might cast to gain the upper hand. She only had a split second to decide, so she decided to attempt a spell she had learned recently that would buy her some time. It was harmless, so she wouldn't feel bad about casting it as strongly as she could. She sidestepped a bit, hoping to throw off his aim as she continued to go on the defence.

"Steleus!" she cried, pointing her wand at the Gryffindor boy and flicking it downwards, hoping to see green rings surge toward him and strike him square in the chest. If she could get him with the Sneezing Hex this round, she could cast a spell that would actually impair him the next round while he was sneezing his face off.

Go hard or go home was definitely not the method of approach the young Gryffindor should have taken. He was successful in his attack, knocking Lucy off her feet and certainly taking the wind out of her. But the girl recovered swiftly. And her revenge came even quicker. Before he could stop it or dodge out of the way, Paracelsus was hit by her sneezing hex. The boy sneezed countless of times in several seconds. It prevented him from continuing the duel. He could no longer talk, let alone cast spells. Serena blinked, not expecting the match to be over that quickly. "Stop!" She called out, quickly raising her palm out towards Lucy, so the girl did not continue to cast spells.

Stepping onto the stage, Serena looked at both of them, "Well... It looks like Paracelsus is unable to cast any spells in this condition, so I declare that the winner of this duel is Lucy O'Sullivan!" She announced, still kind of shocked at how quickly it had ended. The Gryffindor boy did look like he had taken a lot of himself with his sneezes.

Looking over to her fellow Hufflepuff, Serena nodded, "Well done, Lucy." before turning to the Gryffindor boy, "The sneezes should stop in a few minutes. I suggest you get some rest." She continued, indicating to a chair for him to sit on if he wished to stay for a few minutes.

Serena told the pair that they were free to leave whenever they were ready and with that, she moved over to the list of participants she had and contemplated who to call up next. These two would be fine, though the boy's ego may be a little bruised from losing so quickly...

RESULTS: Lucy O'Sullivan wins the duel by knockout.

Paracelsus vs. Bailey- No wait, Lucy Finished
“…It looks like Paracelsus is unable to cast any spells in this condition, so I declare that the winner of this duel is Lucy O'Sullivan!"
Parcel was sneezing so loud that he nearly didn’t hear the kissy prefect announce the winner of the match. Just moments earlier Parcel had fired of the spell that probably was his best dueling spell, but he didn’t even have time to see if it hit before he himself was hit by some infuriatingly annoying green rings.

It didn’t take more time then for him to look down and see the rings vanish into his chest before the sneezing fit began. And begin it did… Parcel really had to be cursed, every spell that hit him seemed to do as much damage as it possibly could. While feeling like he was about to sneeze his brains out he couldn’t help but remember the Gryffindor tag game were he almost was knocked unconscious by a tickle spell.
While crouching over and feeling like he nearly had to puke, the only thing he was able to do was raise a hand in an attempt to acknowledge that he had lost.
"The sneezes should stop in a few minutes. I suggest you get some rest."
While sneezing so much that he had tears in his eyes he looked over to where the promiscuous Hufflepuff prefect was indicating there was a chair he could use.
The sneezing had finally lost some of its edge and Parcel was able to straighten himself again. He nodded to his opponent for a game well played before he shakily made his way over to the chair. He definitively needed some time to rest before he would attempt to do anything else.

Finally reaching the chair Parcel slouched lazily down in it and rested his head on the chairs back. He closed his eyes as he finally felt the sneezing starting to disappear. He would probably have to rethink his strategy before he tried to duel someone again… and maybe train some on his own or something, or... well, that was perhaps what the dueling club was for...
Letting out a sigh Parcel decided to think about it later, now he could use his time to catch his breath and maybe watch a duel or two.

Paracelsus vs. Bailey- No wait, Lucy Finished
Lucy winced as she shifted her stance after scrambling to her feet. She had never been flipped head over heels before, but she knew she had to press her advantage and cast her next spell as quickly as possible. She had already fired off the Sneezing Hex and was prepared to jump into the next spell when she realized that the boy across from her seemed completely indisposed. She ground her teeth, doubling down on her determination to win. She was about to cast Incendio when -

"STOP!"

Lucy blinked, bewildered. That was it? Was it over? Had she won? She could hardly believe it. They had barely had a chance to do anything. She felt slightly embarrassed for the poor boy. This wasn't a very exciting way to win or lose. She smiled at Serena and waved, exiting the platform. Rather than walk back to the spectator area on the other side of the room, she walked over to Paracelsus.

"Thanks for duelling me. That was a wicked spell you cast," she said, standing in front of him and nervously shifting from foot to foot. She wasn't sure what else to say, but the need to make sure that he wasn't mad at her prevailed. She looked at him and smiled. "I think I'll probably have a bruise for at least a week. You really did great." She extended her hand, hoping that he would shake it. "Maybe next time we can get in a couple more hits."

Paracelsus vs. Bailey- No wait, Lucy Finished
Serena scanned the list looking for two more students to call up. As she did, she could hear the Gryffindor boy still sneezing. A frown appeared on her face out of concern before she made her way over to the pair. Lucy was standing in front of the boy making conversation with him. "You both did well," Serena reassured them, especially after seeing how nervous Lucy was. It was always a bit disheartening when your duel ends quicker than it started. One hit wonders was definitely not the way you expected the match to go. However, they were all only in their first year. Getting hit by these powerful spells certainly took a lot out of them. As a moderator, it was just far safer to end the match a little early than to allow someone to get badly hurt. That was what she had been trained to do. Paracelsus certainly looked like he had the wind knocked out of him. There was no way for him to continue the duel after receiving such a strong hit.

He was now sitting on the chair, his sneezes started to fade but he looked quite tired. "Hey, you okay?" She asked him softly in a tone of worry, as she closed in on the pair. Serena gently put her hand on his shoulder, "Perhaps we can take you to the hospital wing?" She asked him, wondering if he was in any sort of pain or if this was just because he was exhausted. Hopefully he would be fine to proceed to the dorms by himself. However, she would happily take him to the hospital wing if there was any doubt in his mind about his health. It was far better to be safe than sorry.

Serena was a little concerned that perhaps she stopped the duel a bit too late. Perhaps he was more hurt than he looked. It was hard to judge this sometimes. She really hope she did not act too late. A look of worry crossed her face as she was feeling insecure about her own skills at the moment. It would have been her fault if he felt unwell. "Can I get you some water? Or something to eat to give you a bit of energy? That might help," Serena continued speaking in a soft gentle voice as she asked the boy what she could do to help him feel better.

Paracelsus vs. Bailey- No wait, Lucy Finished
Parcel was tired, leaning his head back on the chair while keeping his eyes closed, he tried to catch his breath. And to his great dismay, his opponent came over to talk to him. It wasn’t that he was dismayed about the girl herself, but more that she interrupted him as he was relaxing.
Parcel had wanted to stay for a match or two to just relax and catch his breath before leaving. But this girl came over to talk to him. Talking would certainly make him exhale the scarce air he had managed to collect as the sneezing fit was ending. And then he would have to stay here longer.
"Thanks for duelling me. That was a wicked spell you cast, I think I'll probably have a bruise for at least a week. You really did great. Maybe next time we can get in a couple more hits."
Opening his eyes as he straightened his neck, Parcel looked up at the girl standing in front of him. “Well, at least she hasn’t come to gloat at me” Parcel thought as he accepted the outstretched hand.
“Oh, yeah, no problem, I had hoped it would push you of the stage, but you got the better of me” sounding a bit uninterested, Parcel gave her a tired smile. He would perhaps have been cheerful to her under normal circumstances. But the aftermath of the spell he had received made Parcel rather exhausted, and what he wanted most of all right now was to sleep it off.
"Hey, you okay? Perhaps we can take you to the hospital wing?"
Parcel’s tiered smile froze in an awkward position… Was the voice talking to him? Parcel was still looking straight at Lucy, and his neck did not dare move to the side. Because Parcel feared that the scariest girl in his year was proceeding towards him. “Hospital wing!? Is she planning to drag me of to some dark corner to smooch!? It has to be the reason!” Parcel feared the Girl(Serena) had much more sinister plans then “helping” on her mind. Like a wolf sensing a wounded animal, Serena was ready to pounce on her pray. She was probably going to gulp him down like a poor little boy snack! This girl! This Girl!!
Parcel almost got the feeling she was a vampire, but instead of surviving on blood, she survived on cuddling and kisses!

He gulped, was-.. was he feeling something on his shoulder? Parcel had yet dared turn his head to the side, trying to keep as much of the kissy prefect out of view as possible. But the gentle weight he felt on his shoulder made Parcel shiver in fright. He slowly turned his head and with great big round eyes he looked shocked up at the Prefect to his side…. SHE WAS TOUCHING HIM!!!
"Can I get you some water? Or something to eat to give you a bit of energy? That might help,"
Parcel shoot up from the chair, knocking it over in the process. He took a hurried step back and away from the kissy prefect as his whole facial expression shouted astonishment and shock.

“What. Are. You. Doing?” Parcel wheezed.
He used his arm to pull on the shoulder of his sweater, trying to get it into his view. Were cooties transmitted through touch? Or just kissing and cuddling? It might sound weird that Parcel had no problem shaking Lucy’s hand, but couldn’t be in the same room as Serena. But Parcel’s mother had taught him that the yucky girls, the promiscuous girls, are the once with cooties. And the most promiscuous girl Parcel knew was Serena!

Looking down at where the kissy prefect had laid her hand, Parcel tried to see if anything was out of the ordinary. Perhaps he would find small insects crawling around like lice! When he could not find anything, Parcel looked up at the yucky girl again. His ears bright red and his face visibly flushed. “Water my ass!” Parcel thought to himself. He was certain she was going to make him consume a love potion or something. If he ever put something she gave him in his mouth it would be yucky related for sure. Why would she even need him!? Didn’t she already have the Gryffindor prefect? Was she trying to have a cackle of boys around her!? OR maybe she had sucked all the lifeforce out from the last boy and was in need of a new victim!?

“I wi- I will not! Kiss you!” Parcel stammered as low as he could.
He really didn’t want to cause a scene, so he made sure only the people in his close vicinity could hear him.
While looking like he was about to pull his wand out in fright, Parcel backed away towards the door. Never daring to turn his back to the kissy prefect, in fear of her attacking him here in broad daylight in an attempt to steal his kisses.

He didn’t let out a breath before he had closed the door to the dueling room behind him.
Parcel exits.

Paracelsus vs. Bailey- No wait, Lucy Finished
Serena blinked, unsure of what was going on. The beaten boy was wheezing. He looked scared, which seemed a bit weird. The Hufflepuff was worried. Was he okay? Perhaps he had gotten more hurt than she had anticipated. His behaviour was definitely unusual, to say the least. She lifted her hand away from him, after he shot up off the chair and stared at her with a look of shock and intensity. "I'm just making sure you're okay... You don't look well..." She explained, trying to stay calm in the situation. It was hard though. A part of her was starting to panic. The boy was acting very out of place. Perhaps he was very badly hurt and she had just failed to notice. Perhaps the spell had reacted oddly with him and cause a different result. Maybe Lucy did not cast it properly, reacting alternative side effects. She had no idea. But whatever the reason was, she had to make sure she stayed calm and did her best to help the boy out. He needed to get to the hospital wing if something had gone horribly wrong.

Of course, before she could do or say anything, his words her ears. He stuttered as he spoke, his voice was quiet and low but she was still sure she heard it. Serena blinked. Did she hear it? Although her ears were convinced he exclaimed that he would not kiss her, she did not quite believe that that was what he said. Of course he wouldn't! Why would he? She had no intention of doing that and very much hoped that he never did that either. "Wh- what?" She mumbled, a look of shock on her face. Did she really hear him correctly? Why would he think that was even an option?!? It most certainly was not an option, in her mind. But she never got an answer. The boy pulled out his wand, pointing it at her and then backed away. Without a moment's pause or hesitation, he fled the scene leaving Serena standing there staring at the door in utter disbelief. "... What the heck...?" She whispered to herself under her breathe, questioning what just happened. Lost was definitely one word for her state of mind right now. The confusion was evident on her face. She was so lost.

Good? She did not want him to kiss her either. So... good? It was definitely a good thing that they had established that neither of them would kiss the other. Very good. But... it was still so random. She had no idea why he had said that - had he... had he perhaps seen when Sieg- oh god.

Rubbing her nose after a moment, she looked at Lucy awkwardly, "Er well, I best go start the next duel..." She said, excusing herself from the situation. Walking off back to the stage, she waited for Lucy to leave before awkwardly staring at her page and attempting to start the next duel. Geesh, how would she concentrate after... well that?
Serena exits.
