Going out that door was like being hit with a brick wall, a loud, aggressive brick wall if they could be made out of pandemonium in physical form. It was crazy. Pure chaos, he’d never seen a pack of shoppers look so wild eyed save the one horrible year he’d visited his aunt in Oregon and witnessed a black Friday sale when driving by. That memory still haunts him to this day and little 7-year-old Elsi had vowed to never get into a fist fight over a tv.

Well, he was likely about to get into a fight but at least it wasn’t over a tv.

Self-proclaimed standards unbroken! Aunt Matilde would be so proud of his self-growth. Until she found out he’d happily gone to war in the name of a feather boa…

He looked up at the store front from where him and Willow had paused just behind the worst of the crowd. There was some shoving, pushing, but it was mostly up in the front by the doors. Elsian figured it was better to just wait and go with the rest of the calm shoppers happily chatting along the sidewalk. He pressed closer to the glass, peering through the window and at the things inside. He could see a large, stylized shelf littered with bags and fancy old-fashioned shoes. Racks the littered walls went all the way to the roof, and he saw one of the staff, an older woman, using a long garment hook to put up some dresses that looked right out of a 1950s prom. Another glance, this time to the mannequins propped up for the storefront and a few that were littered along the store's floor in the corner. The things were pretty, but nothing was really standing out, not for his costume at least. Humming he turned to Willow, urging her over to point at a few of the mannequins that had silver colors; maybe they’d go with her mirror?

What do you think of those outfits?” They had clearance tags. He could see the red color that signified 85% and up discount that’d been posted on a few of the mannequins items. “Looks like all of those things are really cheap.” They didn’t personally call out to him. Hopefully at least one of them found something-

I need it.” He said darkly.

Oh my god oh my god oh my god-

Oh my god I need it. Willow, Willow look at it!” He grabbed his friend's arm, shaking it aggressively as he pressed his finger against the glass longingly, straight at one of the headless mannequins propped up against the wall on a shelf platform high above their heads. It had the most glamorous, outrageous sheer sparkly gloves he'd ever witnessed! They looked like something out of an old space cartoon, or something inspired by a jellyfish but, space! He needed them. They would go with the wig and fishbowl look he was trying to get so well. He saw a yellow tag. The blue was amazing, and that silver boa looped over the mannequins' arms and shoulders wasn't half bad either.

It’s hideous. Now I gotta buy it, I’m so upset.” He wasn’t really. Okay maybe a little.

Why did it have to be so far up?

The bells of the doors rang, suddenly someone was shouting for attention. He whipped his head to look at the doors, an employee was waving the crowd down for order, he looked away, only paying it half a mind. They weren’t the ones crowding the doors after all.

The doors opened. All hell broke loose. So much for hanging with the calm crowd, apparently Elsian and Willow were in the way and were not saved from the sudden wave of pushing and crowding. He yelped as someone shoved him away from Willow, forced to use both hands to grip the fishbowl that didn’t fit in his bag as he was crammed into the moving crowd. For a few tense seconds he could only focus on not dropping his stuff and avoiding the sharp heels of others being jabbed into his toes before suddenly he was free! Free as they pushed past the doors and the shoppers quickly spread out towards their objectives; he scrambled away from the doorway towards the mannequins just to avoid being hit. He was brutally aware how alone and vulnerable he was in the wake of these piranhas in human form.

Willow?” He called, though it was drowned out in the loudness of the store. He looked around, but couldn’t see a sliver of his friend between the crowds and large stacks of shoes and clothing.

Ah, he would die alone then.

Elsian shambled over to the corner, looking around and briefly fiddling with the racks of tops before finally catching sight of the mannequin from before. Like he thought. No one was paying attention to it. Well, this would be easy.

He all but pranced to the mannequin in the back of the store, happy to ignore the drama and the sudden, suspicious sound of screams and then something heavy crashing behind him. Nobody wanted the weird gloves and cheap looking boa when they could have the expensive vintage outfits of their dreams! He couldn’t blame them. Hnn…Elsian paused, looking up at the mannequin. How did you get it down…? No fancy stick was gonna work.

Staff then?

Peering around it took a bit, but viola! That nice woman who organized the crowd into semi peace. She could probably get the gloves off with a ladder or something.

He made a beeline for her, walking past large racks of dresses and tables with bags. He paused, a large table of shoes catching his attention. What even were those shoes? He went to pick one up, snatching it right off the shoebox the other was hidden. sleek white boots, bafflingly printed with stars of blue and purple. He looked at the tag. Gogo boots. Huh, they looked weird. Definitely one of the more costumey things here; an orange tag. $3.50. Really good deal for something like this! And it was space themed! How could he NOT buy this? It'd be downright criminal.

Even if it was taking a lot of his money for shoes…

Internally he cried in anguish.

He shuffled the boot under his arm, reaching up to grab the blue shoe box the other boot was set. One hand curled around the side, making it wobble as he slid it closer from beneath and-

A pair of hands snatched at the box, quickly snatching it up. “Hey!” He cried, hissing as the person bumped him away into the table of bags; the boot fell, knocking underneath. He whirled around, annoyed to witness the smug look of an older teen with pretty brown hair and an unpleasant smirk on her face. “What the hell! Give it back!

What?” She sniffed, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, “you should have been faster.

I got it first, you’re just in denial.” He reached for the box, grabbing the side and pulled hard. She held fast though, glaring at him. “Give it!

Back off! It’s not like they’d fit you anyway!

He went to snap back only to be stopped when another person shoved past them, bumping Elsian into a rack. The boy had to let go less he crash into the display, but it didn’t stop him from falling onto the wooden floor hard. Gritting his teeth he glared at the back of the little hag in training, the prat! Sitting up the boot caught his eye, the stars shining dully as he snatched it up with a grin. She wanted a single boot fine! Elsian for one could make do with a single shoe for this silly fashion show.

Fine, enjoy your boot!” he got up, holding the boot up with a laugh as he called after her, grinning sharply at her scoff before it quickly turned into a look of horror as she scrambled to look in the box. HAH. Laughing he crouched down, slipping off his left shoe and shoving it into his bag for safe keeping, might as well see if it even fit.

Oh, it did! He wobbled as he stood up. He wasn't used to heels and briefly feared breaking his ankle.

Give me the boot.” She hissed; oh she sounded pissed. Elsian looked up, blinking at the ugly look twisting her face.

No, I don't think I will,” he simpered, showing off the boot with a little pose, “fits just right. In fact, I think I’ll go ahead and buy it right now.” His first mistake was turning his back to grab his things off the floor and walk to the counter, this was his first realization in this battle of wits and sales as this little bootleg Heather shoved him in the back and suddenly his left leg was being dragged up by the new shiny boot on his foot.

Take it off you Cinderella knock off!

He screeched, fingers digging into the floor as the girl dragged him up by his leg. She was insane! “You’re crazy!” His free leg kicked out in a warning and the Gryffindor scrambled away when he was free, snatching up his bag and quickly crawling under the table to get away. He could hear he screech angrily, footsteps rushing off and he thanked whatever shopping deity there was that the table was stocked with things. A thud. Suddenly a hand was reaching for him from atop the table and a familiar ugly scowl stared at him upside down.

There was no god.

GET BACK HERE!!!

CRAZY.” He yelled back, rolling out from the table to dash behind some clothing racks and mannequins. Glowering he used to mannequins to stay away from her, an odd game of keep away and tag put together developing as she tried to get the boot on Elsians foot like a spurned evil stepsister as he did his best to stay the hell away.

No one blinked. No one else cared in the drama of this shopping hell. The staff were outnumbered, he was doomed.

It was only a matter of time before things came to a head, especially when he had a single heeled boot slowing him down. She got to him, but not before Elsian had decided to throw caution to the wind and thought, ‘screw it!’, he had nothing to lose. Nothing. And grabbed the box to start a fight on his own terms. Might as well try to get the whole set, right?

He had notbeen expecting her to tackle him.

A hand dug into his hair and pulled, angrily tugging at black strands as he struggled to get away with the box. “OW!” The fishbowl and box were knocked away, hitting a rack with a dull thud and suddenly Elsians hands were free. He glared, reaching his own hand to shove at her face and dig fingers into long brown strands.

This was war.

Peace was a lie, there was only survival of the fittest in this blur of angry hissing and flailing limbs as the 2 teens fought tooth and nail against one another. Fingers angrily pulled at hair, elbows were dug into sides and curses and insults spat out loud when Elsian once again was able to crawl to the box and fishbowl with a successful grin. She threw a bag at him, it smacked right into his head, and he yelped, glaring bitterly at the girl's ugly smirk as she grabbed another bag to throw. Another hit, another yelp. He might have bit the girl. It was hard to know for sure. All he knew was that he was not letting go of this box!

He held on for dear life, wailing in outrage, as she dragged him by the foot across the floor.

Like the awkward interactions hadn't been enough, people had decided to have a random water fight in the middle of the streets! Who did such a thing?! Admittingly, it was pretty hot and it wasn't the worst idea but none of the children or teens seemed to care about innocent passers-by like Samantha. Making sure to keep her distance from the water balloons and other ways the water was thrown around, she accelerated her steps in hopes to pass the group without getting a single drop of water on her.

Even though her attention faded for only a moment as she inspected her new face paint, it was enough for an unexpected water balloon to startle her as it landed in front of her feet. As the brunette quickly took a step back, she walked right into the teens that had thrown the water balloon, causing her to trip and fall. "Who do you-!" She wanted to yell at the two idiots but before she could even get up they had already disappeared from her sight.

"Are they blind or something?" she mumbled under her breath as she slowly stood up. "Their parents didn't teach them any manners. They didn't even apologize!" she complained out loud as she wiped the dirt from her legs. After whining about the awful behavior for a bit more, Samantha picked up her bag which had landed next to her, and checked if everything was still inside of it. To her horror, she realized her face paint was missing.

It took her a few seconds of desperate looking around before she found the paint laying on the grass and a kid almost stepping on it. "Hey! she yelled at the kid in utter frustration as they picked up HER face paint. "Drop it! That's mine!" she screamed hopelessly as the kid started running straight into the watery chaos. After a split second of thinking, she ran after the annoying kid, right into the water fight, in hopes to get her face paint back.

Whether or not she was able to successfully retreat her item, she continued her shopping trip now soaking wet. The few weird looks she got from the store owners were ignored as she quickly paid for her items, still determined to win. After a while of going in and out of random stores, Samantha was satisfied with her items.

Besides the 4-dollar kids' face paint, the young girl had also brought a pack of googly eyes for 2 dollars and an XL oversized gray woman dress from the sale section for just 7 dollars. That the dress was on sale wasn't a very big surprise as there was a little hole in the back of the dress causing most people to leave it hanging. The lady at the checkout looked very weird when the almost 13-year-old paid for the huge dress but luckily didn't say anything. Could you imagine that she had to explain to the woman she was buying the dress to look like an alien who attended fashion week for a random game?

Before returning, Samantha painted her face in random colors (in case she got the face paint back), put on the dress, stuck the googly eyes in random places on her face, and stuck two random sticks she found on the ground in her hair so her two braids looked like Pippi Longstocking's hair. She was 30 minutes early and couldn't do anything but wait for the others to arrive too.

It was a good thing that the spot was hiding from the rest of the park or Samantha would have gotten a thousand weird looks as she sat there in her oversized dress with face paint and googly eyes on her face. Before the other would join her, the brunette would complete her outfit by wearing her back bag the other way around, like an oversized fannybag. Like many other kids, the young girl didn't feel ashamed very fast and didn't care about the fact that she looked absolutely ridiculous, and she just waited patiently for the others.

Google is a great place  I didn't think I would actually find a person with googly eyes on their face but I did :cute:
