Having some distance from the bulk of the swimmers meant that he had to pay less attention to his surroundings, which meant Raphael could start pushing himself in earnest, without having to weave through between other paddling participants. He kept his head low, focusing on efficient movements, pushing himself forward with every stroke.

There was a rhythm to it now, even movements constantly repeating, and Raph leaned into it. It was similar to running in that regard, the soothing repetitiveness giving the opportunity to turn off his mind, focusing only on the physical, the state almost meditative.

But the second lap was over all too soon, and Raphael raised his head upon hearing the announcement, slightly surprised to find himself now very near the front of the group. There seemed to be only two students ahead of him, neither of them familiar. No one from his school then; or at least not from his circles.

The third lap promised a bit more action, more attention would be required as he would have to dodge mobile obstacles. No more meditation then... which he didn't mind at all, his training for broomracing had given him decent reflexes, and this would just be a little additional training.

This did not make sense to Marina. She hadn't swum in years, and she had not failed a round yet. Of course, this was most definitely not a reason to give up, go slower, or get too confident. That is how to drown.

She was still being careful to not drown. That was pretty much her whole goal. If Marina made it out of the triathlon alive that would be a win in her opinion, though she would never turn down a couple chocolate frogs as a reward if she actually won.

This round was going to be even more terrifying. Marina was now going to have to dodge multiple water balloons being thrown from the ship. Did the organizers of this advent want to kill them? It definitely seemed like it. Concentrating on not getting hit by the balloons Marina continued to swim forward. Please do not hit me, she thought. If one of the water balloons hit her Marina would have to repeat this round, which would be torture. She wanted out of the water as soon as possible.

If Marina survived there was no way she was going to let Mochi decide anything for her ever again.

Swimming was harder than Aurora generally thought. Maybe she should continue her swimming lesson even if she loathed the thought of it to the core of her existence, it would be beneficial considering she lived in Hogwarts, school of mishaps and tragedy. In a week, or a month, or perhaps tomorrow, something imaginable could happen. Forest fire, dorm catastrophe, the hell ground, as far as she knew, the only place that had not seen chaos was the great lake. The wrath of the giant squid, the wizarding world version of evil katara, or the revenge of the little mermaids could come anytime soon. If she couldn’t survive this swimming challenge, how could she be alive when those things happen when she is not ready? It’d be like bringing a knife to a gunfight. Why did water creatures have to be so terrifying and incredibly furious in her head?

She couldn’t see her cousin anymore, either he was far behind or in front of her. He wouldn’t continuously brag if he won, but he would definitely rub it on her face for at least a day and she wanted to be the one who’d rub her victory on his face later. So she tried again. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.

No thrill, this was not a challenge for the boy. What was this? Kid pool playground? He could swim with his eyes closed if he wanted to and still passed all of the levels. Maybe if duelling doesn't work out in the future, he could be a professional swim athlete, that would be a good career switch. Though, what would his father think about his pureblood son who can’t do magic properly so he swims instead? Whilst nothing wrong with that, it would increase his resentment towards the boy. He was not a fish, he was a wizard.

He couldn’t see Aurora’s presence anywhere, maybe she drowned, good for him. But if she actually was in front of him, that would be a big problem. His ego would be hurt tremendously, knowing that a girl in a size of a grain of rice beat him in a swimming competition for a bunch of kids. Maybe he shouldn’t cut off some slack and roll all his cavalry back. He should be on the lookout. Even if this was not an important and worthy championship, maybe seeing it as a way to practise would be beneficial for him competing in the real hexwizard tournament.

If Ronnie did not say he started to feel his arms and shoulder aching and tire, then he will be lying. No matter how strong the Castelobruxo student is, the last time Ronnie did a Triathalon felt like ages ago. As he swam at his pace, there were a bunch of others that pulled in front of him or in the far distance.

There a thought lingered on the back of the Duellist to increase his speed so he could be caught up to whoever was in front of them but Ronnie then remember there was still one more lap in this swimming competition part. Ronnie then rounded the ship and finally, he knows who failed to do the first stage.

He wanted to stop and chat. Maybe to give his aching and tired muscles a break since, with every paddle he did, his whole arms feel like a brick. The burning sensation that coarse through his whole body also was not a welcome sensation. Two down, one to go Ronnie thought to themselves as he listened to the announcer told him and a bunch of others who were the ones that passed Level 2.

The announcer also said what will entail for the last leg in this swimming part of the Triathalon. The boy who oversees this event told the swimmer, that there will be muggle water obstacles thrown into his way while he is swimming. All Ronnie got to do was to avoid getting hit or being touched by whatever the announcer will throw at him and the other swimmer.

If Ronnie managed to dodge the obstacle then he did not have to restart Level 2 all over again. And if the odds were not in his favor, Ronnie need to redo Level 2 again. Ronnie is a fan of swimming but he did not know if he can do Level 2 all over again. With a newfound determination, Ronnie increased his speed. And hopefully, he did not have to restart Level 2 yet again.
