Thinking of you
IC Date: July 31st 2022LETTER as plain text:ReducioDear Flash,
I hope you are having a good summer or at the very least an unremarkable one. I was thinking of writing you earlier but things has been a bit hectic. Today my dad and I drove around Chester and visited our favourite meadow. For some reason, I couldn't help but think of you and so I’m writing a letter to you surrounded by wildflowers. The smell is truly delightful; I wish you could be here although I suspect you have your own magical places to escape to. Do you even like flowers? It occurred to me that I never asked. I find their smell incredibly calming. Do you have a favourite scent that does the same for you? Is it a strange question to ask? You don't have to reply if it is.
How are you doing? Do the stables keep you busy these days as well? Make sure not to overwork yourself. In my experience, animals tend to be very forgiving. It's the humans that push others hard but it's important to take a break once in a while if you can. I worry about you. It's nothing unusual though, I tend to worry about a lot of things especially during summer holidays so I keep busy. Haven't been kicked out of my ballet academy yet. The teacher still likes me. I might even have a little performance towards the end of August so that's something to look forward to I suppose.
Other than that I have no special plans really. My friend and my cousin keep me company on most days. You've probably seen Ye-jun during the last two balls, I just never got the chance to introduce you properly for obvious reasons. Remind me why they always have to be so dramatic? Can't we just dance and have fun for once? In any case, those two have been spending far too much time together. If this keeps up, they'll start playing pranks on me. I can't help it though. I visit my parents' workplaces a lot and the two boys refuse to join me. I don't really blame them. Hospitals are not a happy places on most days but they are fascinating to me all the same. There is so much to learn. I spend most of my time with the patients and it is always a humbling experience Still, I feel almost too comfortable there. It makes me wonder what that says about me. Would you believe the smell of antiseptics has a soothing effect on me now? Don't tell anybody though. They'll think I'm weird. I’m going to stop here because I’m rambling. Do let me know how's your summer going. I miss talking to you...
Stay safe,
Eun-ji

Thinking of you
Dear Eun-ji,
I am delighted to get a letter from you. I cannot express how much it has lifted my spirits. My summer is fine, all the better now. It funny you should think of me without knowing, but I suppose that could be because of the perfume I wear. I usually make them from the wildflowers I harvest from any given area. When you met me, I wore one from the woods near my home. It's in Durham, have you ever been there?
I adore the smell of flowers. I've always associated you with the smell of lavender, though I also found out the name of the flower you had given me before- heather. I cannot say I'm an expert in identifying them, but I find it fascinating how diverse different biomes become. I wonder where this field of yours is located? If you manage to collect a sample of some of the scents you like most, I can show you how to bottle it. Of course, only if something like that interests you.
You need not worry about me so much, I try to be responsible and take care of my health as best I can. Being out here does not help with my sleep as much as I hoped it would, but I have found comfort in some routine. I brought along some potion in case I get any injuries, though I haven't needed it yet. I don't know if I told you, but it's a muggle establishment, so a lot of conveniences of the magical world are hard to come by. As for your performance, is that a public one? Is it the kind of thing I would be able to attend? I would be interested, if so.
That's right, I have met Ye-jun, I remember he helped us lift that tent. I feel a bit embarrassed that I had been so impolite as to say nothing to him thus far. I hope next time there's a gathering we can speak properly, I don't know what the theme of the fall ball will be, but would you keep me in mind for it? They are often dramatic, but so is life. I think what matters isn't where you are, but who you surround yourself with. With us together, surely we can manage to still have a good time.
I wouldn't worry about rambling either. I like hearing more about you, it's like finding finer details of a painting. Even things like the smell of antiseptic. I think the hospital must have some nostalgia for you. At least, I think that is what the sense of smell is connected to: memories. Surely if you went to the stables as a child you would be nostalgic for the smell of hay and leather, as I am. I hope this letter serves as a momentary release from boredom, until we can speak again.
Great admiration,
P.S. Sorry this took a while I needed to get permission to use the family owl. It is the only one available and my father has needed it for business foremost.

LETTER as plain text:ReducioDear Flash,
Ah I see... That makes perfect sense. No wonder it smelled so familiar then. It is so amazing that you know how to make a perfume yourself. I would be very happy to learn how to how to do so as well. It will be like bringing a little piece of home with me. I actually got a greenhouse to take care of from my father couple of days ago. I’m not sure if I’ll do a good job but I hope to take good care of it. If there is a flower you particularly like, please let me know. I would love to plant it for you. I have never visited Durham but it looks like a lovely place. Perhaps I’ll get to visit one day if the situation allows it. My meadow is at the very edge of Chester. Not a walking distance from the city so it’s pretty much deserted on most days. Chester has many beautiful parks so people usually go there instead. It was a good place to let Morgana loose once in a while.
I'm glad to hear you are doing okay and that you are looking after yourself as best as possible provided your location and circumstances. I have to admit I am rather glad to have a key to my mother's potion cabinet at the moment. My partner for the upcoming performance comes from a Chinese family, which is nice since we have a similar work ethic but he is also a bit of an overachiever. That part I can understand I just wish I wasn’t the only one to take a plunge every time one of us makes a mistake. It is tough work and there are days when we fight like cats and dogs but I wouldn’t change a thing. It is a small price to pay for the joy the end result brings me. I’m only complaining because I feel like I’m allowed to when it comes to you. I’m not entirely sure why. I do hope you feel the same however. I’d be happy to listen to your complains anytime you wish to share them with me. I would also love for you to come and see the performance. It is a public event but it’s not solely a ballet show. A lot of musicians and other dancers from Chester will get an opportunity to shine there. I only have three pieces to showcase so I’m not sure if it’s worth the journey for you.
Also, please don’t worry about Ye-jun. I don’t think he will think any less of you. If anything, I should have been the one to introduce you but the circumstances were less than ideal both times he was around. I’m sure we’ll manage next time. It would bring me the greatest joy if I could join you for the next one. I can't think of anyone I'd rather keep in mind more than you. Let’s hope this ball will be better and if not, we’ll get though whatever comes our way together.
In any case, thank you for all your kind words. I’ll let myself ramble once in a while then. I expect you to do the same in return though. It’s only fair don’t you think? Any tiny detail you are willing to share will do. I love hearing more about you.
Stay safe,
Eun-ji.
PS :(Don’t worry about the delay. I’m just happy to hear from you. I let your owl rest for a bit and fed him. Hopefully your father won’t mind too much. Our family owl is on its way to France I’m afraid and I didn’t want the little guy to fly again until he stretched his wings a little.)
OOC note: The envelope would also have 2 tickets fo Eun-ji's performance with a note "just in case". The date on the tickets would say August 27th, The Guildhall - Chester

Thinking of you
Dear Eun-ji,
I felt the same way, about taking the smell of home with me. During my first year, I made one from the wildflowers around Hogwarts, and recently I've been making one from around the cottage I'm staying at. It feels like it tethers me to where I am, and time that has passed. I can remember where I've been, and look forward to the next place I will find. It feels a bit silly writing that out, and reading it back, but I think you will forgive my whimsy. I am interested to hear of you acquiring a greenhouse, though I can't think of any one specific kind of plant, to be quite honest. I haven't studied any mundane herbology, I admittedly know very little about the flowers I admire. I would be interested to know what bloom you think I might enjoy.
I'm glad you feel like you can complain to me, I will try to remember that I'm allowed to do the same. Over here I can't seem to get anyone to treat me normally. My father's position makes them guarded around me, so it is a bit lonely. I have my rat and my horse. I have tried to understand to appeal of animal companionship, but it's not quite the same. I miss long conversations, learning more about people. This is why I am so honored for the invitation. Whatever it takes, I'll find someone to get me to the train station. I don't doubt I can do at least that much. It will be worth the trip just to get to see you. Getting to see you perform is more incentive still, I greatly look forward to it. I wish I could see it with both my eyes.
Thank you for saving a place for me, with the invitation to ramble I'm sure I can find something to go on and on about. I'm not usually a very talkative person, but I find you draw it out of me. Of course, I'm most looking forward to getting to dance with you. I may not have the same energy as I used to, but I would hate to miss out. Either way, I'll be seeing you soon. Hopefully I can get this letter sent before the weekend.
Great admiration,

LETTER as plain text:ReducioDear Flash,
There is nothing to forgive. In fact, I rather like your whimsy. It sounds lovely. I might actually bring some flowers from the greenhouse too then. It smells truly divine there. My father had it built for me on my grandparents' property. Their house had to be torn down and I think he couldn't bring himself to rebuild it. After all, it's where he grew up and where I spent a huge portion of my childhood as well. My grandma did like gardening however and I often helped her so she would have loved this. Everything I know about flowers is from what she had taught me. It's actually not as much as you may think though...she wasn't a big talker so I will have to further broaden my knowledge on my own. In any case, I suppose building a greenhouse there was a good way to preserve her spirit and keep me occupied. Perhaps I could show you around some time?
I must admit your question made me think a lot. As it turns out, it's not easy to find one flower to fit you perfectly. I think I'd need a full bouquet to describe you but if I'm to choose one...perhaps a Wild Gladiolus? I think you might like that one. It somehow feels like you. Its leaves look sharp like tiny swords but the blossoms are beautiful and soft and of course, their scent is just wonderful. They go dormant during bad conditions, storing enough food so they can become stronger and regrow again. They can also withstand some extreme colds. In short, they are fighters. I would love to provide a picture but apparently, they are endangered here and only grow at one place in Great Britain so you might have to google them. I could probably plant them if you’d like.
I'm sorry to hear that you are not having much fun in Durham. It's surprisingly easy to feel lonely even with family surrounding you, let alone strangers that perhaps feel like they should thread lightly around you. I for one find myself having the opposite problem. Others tend give me their honest opinions far too often these days. I wish I could keep you company instead but nothing is ever that easy, is it? For now, the letters will have to do. We can talk plenty when you come here. To me, animals were always the most treasured companions yet I can understand why you don’t feel the same. Even if we seem to have a lot in common, we both grew in different circumstances and therefore it's natural to find comfort in different things. It's okay if you still long for a human companion to talk to. You must introduce me to your pet rat as soon as possible by the way. I still can't believe you got one. Mordred will be overjoyed as well. He is not too fond of humans but he adores animals of any kind and is very gentle with them. Don't worry though, if your little friend isn't all too keen on making new friends, we will leave him alone.
I honestly can’t wait for you to get here and see the performance. I hope I’ll do well and if you still want to see me dance once you have your eye back, I will happily do so. All you have to do is ask. Before that happens, I'll be looking forward to the Fall ball. Contrary to popular belief, I'm not actually that demanding. For some reason, all my 'dates' so far seemed a bit nervous going with me. I wish that wasn't the case...I love dancing but I can honestly have fun just watching other people do so. I'll be thrilled if you feel like dancing but I'd be perfectly happy just keeping you company if you don't. I usually tend to hold back when talking to others but you make it really hard. Look at me writing all these things. It really doesn't suit me. The paper and pen seem to give me some kind of strange sense of security but I suppose it's okay if you are the one receiving the letters. You won't judge me too much, will you? I wish time would pass more quickly. My cousin is leaving today and my friend is leaving tomorrow. They can be a bit obnoxious at times but they made the house feel like a home. It’s going to be awfully quiet few days before the performance. It’s okay though. I have plenty practice to do still so I won't have time to ponder about it too much. Let’s hope it all pays off.
See you soon,
Eun-ji.
