Happy Birthdays, Happy Holidays

June 2, a beautiful Saturday afternoon, brought about what was officially the best and worst idea of Ami's life, but hey, what else could she do? The end of the school year, and Mia's birthday? It was basically screaming for her to throw a party- but there was a lot to do if one wanted to plan and actually throw a party. Invite list and invitations, the venue, the menu, the seating... Plus, if this was going to actually be fun, they needed to break some rules. But because Ami was strictly against alcohol (although just this once, she was willing to bend it a little and acquire butterbeer, if only for Mia's sake), they'd have to settle for breaking the most basic rule of all- staying out past curfew. Additionally, if Ami wanted to make this party actually successful, she was going to need some help- and lots of it. Thank god she had a plethora of people she could turn to.PV/Guest List: Mia Alexander, Scott Alexander, Lorelai Brunelle, Amadea Campbell, Aravis Escanora, Odette Haven, Gabriel Mattix, Ami Procoppio, Ava Silver, and Syrah Steele. Any and all godmodding featured is approved of by the character godmodded.
One thing at a time, however. She'd figure out the invite list and a way to get invitations out later, and as for the venue, the only obvious option was the Small Hall. Far away from any dorms or professors' rooms, if she could find that one spell she knew existed (the one that made locations soundproof, or something), they'd be perfectly fine in the Small Hall. It was big enough to accommodate a significant amount of people, as well, which was a plus.
For the menu, Ami simply drafted up a list of things that seemed party-esque, and handed it off to the house-elves, who nodded with happy smiles as Ami asked them to keep the order a secret and to prepare it for June 18. Although Ami was vaguely aware of some of the foods Mia liked, such as comfort foods like butterbeer and mac n' cheese, everything else she had to guess on, if only so she herself could eat something as well.
Guessing on food was fine and dandy, but a theme, themed parties were always the best, right? Maybe? But she didn't even know what Mia liked... she vaguely knew that the Slytherin had encountered a dragon when she was younger? Maybe? With a heavy sigh, Ami had realized she knew next to nothing about Mia, so she'd have to turn to the next best resource- Scott Alexander. She'd heard Mia name-drop him a couple of times, and from this Ami gathered that the two were relatively close. Fantastic. She'd have to pay him a visit, then. Totally not creepy at all.
The evening of June 3 found the two students holed up in the back of the library, away from prying eyes and thirsty ears. Scott, to Ami's pleasant surprise, knew lots more than she thought he would about his cousin, and they spent the better part of the lazy Sunday afternoon talking about Mia. In the end, however, Ami ended up with a quite substantial list and a new Sharpie tattoo of what she believed was supposed to be a dragon, but in all honesty, looked more like a puppy. Sorry, Scott.
June 4 found Ami and Aurelia Bezuidenhout holed up in the Owlery, the Huffle stressing about invites, and the Gryffin being the voice of reason and the ears of the school. It made sense, after all, that Aurelia knew all these people, considering she'd recruited Ami for the pickup Quidditch game. Finally, after compiling an appropriate guest list, the invitations were owled out, and Ami could only cross her fingers and pray that all went well.
June 5 through 16 was a hodge-podge of panic- RVSPs arriving, recruiting her helpers for setup, arranging pick-up points for the rest of the students, tweaking the food-requests (much to the chagrin of the house-elves), and planning everything else that had to be done. Decorations were made, banners painted, food list rearranged again, more decorations were made, a list of spells compiled, a photo-booth made, food list rearranged for the last time, and a huge to-do list written out. An agenda for the night itself was written out in great detail, spanning nearly fifteen pages, front and back, all crammed with Ami's minuscule handwriting.
Needless to say, June 17 was a day of absolute torture, trying to keep it together until that night. Ami was practically bouncing off the walls in class, sharing stifled giggles and hidden smiles with the invited. While she knew that it was rather unfair that not everyone in their year had been invited, there wasn't much she could do. She had tried to stick to Mia's friends and the bare minimum for helpers, and even then, it was a big risk to organize it all, trusting everyone not to spill the beans. However, no teachers had approached her with a warning to not carry out her party plans, and Mia hadn't confronted her about her surprise birthday party.
take a look at the clock
only so long to go
scrubbing smooth young skin
saying 'i don't know'
grab a bag, grab a bottle
but leave the what if;
you'll see it in the morning
after your kicks
Pulling her blanket over her head as someone called for lights-out, Ami curled herself into her usual ball as she waited for the sounds of sleeping girls to envelop her; finally, a use for that damned sleep insomnia. As she listened to her dorm mates doze off one by one, she kept glancing at the watch on her wrist for the time. She couldn't be late for meeting up with Lorelai, Syrah, and Gabriel, otherwise, there would be a high chance of the three getting caught wandering the corridors aimlessly, and she definitely didn't want that to happen to her friends.
Finally, Ami heard the absolute stillness in the air that resulted from everyone in the general vicinity being totally and utterly asleep. 9:48... if I hurry, I can make it, she thought to herself, throwing the covers off and leaping to her feet. Ami grabbed the rolling suitcase that held everything she needed for the party (or, almost everything) and pulled out her backpack from under her bed. Checking her reflection in the mirror, she was pleased to see that her bed-head looked spectacular, and her pajamas were appropriately rumpled. Her shirt, light grey, had the black words, Walk up to the club like what's up? I have social anxiety, I want to go home. Her grey drawstring sweatpants had some tears and rips in it, but that was okay. Perfect, so she was following the dress code she had set. Shoving her feet into grey slippers and shouldering her backpack, Ami dragged the suitcase with her down the hall as she headed to the first meeting point, where Lorelai had said she would be waiting for her.
all you need for
a rockin' good time
is a bunch of people
who don't give a damn
there's a yes in your head
gotta find where it's at
you'll lose it in the morning
but ignore that
a rockin' good time
is a bunch of people
who don't give a damn
there's a yes in your head
gotta find where it's at
you'll lose it in the morning
but ignore that
Upon turning the corner, Ami spotted her raven-haired, pajama-clad friend, and beamed, a smile growing across her face. "You ready? I love your pajamas, by the way," she smiled, coming to a stop. "Of course I'm ready- and thanks," Lorelai replied, donning an equally wide smile and the cutest black tank-top ever. Racerback tank-tops had to be the genius invention of the century. Plus, her red-and-black flannel pants were adorable, as well. Raising an eyebrow at the suitcase, the Gryffindor added, "Seriously? There's that much to do?"
"Yeah, sorry about that, I had a lot of ideas. No one saw you, right?" Ami asked worriedly, wringing her wrists. Getting caught now would be catastrophic. To her relief, Lorelai shook her head no. "We'll have to hurry- we have roughly... say, 70, 80 minutes, after we pick up Syrah and Gabriel," Ami said, checking her watch; it was 10:01, she was making good time. "Let's roll!" The two girls set off towards the Great Hall, where both Syrah and Gabriel had said they'd meet them for set-up crew duty.
"Perfect!" Ami crowed upon setting her sights on her other two helpers. There was Syrah, who was dressed clad in floral (green-blue roses) pajama pants, a white t-shirt, and the prettiest bed-head to ever exist. Standing next to her was Gabriel, the ever-put-together Ravenclaw, who simply wore a black t-shirt and sweats, and his hair was appropriately mussed. "Ready to kick some party-decorating butt?" Gabriel and Syrah both exchanged, Why did we sign up for this? glances, while Lorelai simply grinned. Despite any regrets, however, all of them followed the energetic Hufflepuff to the Small Hall.
Glancing at her watch, Ami nodded approvingly as she realized they were right on schedule- 10:10, on the dot. "Lorelai, you and I are on physical, touchable decoration duty. Streamers, tables, games, decorations, balloons, food... if you can touch it, we need to set it out," Ami announced, kicking open the doors to the Small Hall dramatically, rolling her suitcase inside. Opening it, a waterfall of decorations spilled out, and Lorelai could only sigh in exasperation at the work the two would have to do. "Syrah, Gabriel, y'all are gonna spiff up this room with magic." She'd chosen these two for the magical set-up simply because their... what did Professor Blackburn call it? Their magical potential was sky-high, through the roof. If any first-year could pull off the spells she needed, it would be these two. "Pull out all the stops- here's a list." Spinning around on the ball of her foot, Ami threw a paper airplane at Syrah, who neatly dodged it and bent down to pick it up.
Gabriel and Syrah looked over the list together and stared at Ami as if she were a maniac. "Ami... I don't even recognize half of these," Gabriel remarked, and Syrah raised an eyebrow. "Well, you've got wand movements and pronunciations listed, along with instructions, you really did your homework... hey, zwevendous is on here!" Syrah smiled at Ami, and Ami smiled right back. "Exactly. You've got this, Syrah- Lorelai, let's roll. We've got a lot of work to do."
we're not bruised

and that colorful mess
is just colorful regret

And so the four set to work on the Small Hall, on the mission to transform it into a party-worthy venue. Ami and Lorelai strung an assortment of balloons in an impressive spectrum of colors, banners bearing words such as Happy Birthday Mia! or Congrats Future Second Years!, and rearranged furniture so it was more party-friendly. Syrah paced around the room, Gabriel trailing after her and clamoring for the list. The Slytherin's brows were furrowed and her brain was reeling, and both of them were casting an impressive array of protective spells, all from the list Ami had given her. But besides the scraping of chairs or a muttered curse of frustration from Syrah, the four worked in complete and utter silence, dead-set on their task of finishing this in time.
Syrah began casting zwevendous left and right, her being more familiar with the spell than Gabriel, the floating lights (all white, as written in Ami's instructions) of all different sizes dotted the ceiling and walls until enough light was cast that they could extinguish all the torches and sconces around the room, although Ami decided to leave the fireplace burning for an amicable glow. Gabriel walked over to Ami, pointing out some of the spells that were simply too challenging for them to do
At 11:10, as Ami had instructed, a small army of house-elves arrived with platters of food- not too much, as it was midnight, but enough to feed students whose stomachs were grumbling. The cake Aravis had baked was set out as well, and the four couldn't help but gasp in wonder the grandeur of the cake. Really, Aravis had certainly outdone herself. The four students set out all of the food hurriedly, knowing they were running on a tight schedule, and they dusted their hands off at 11:20- just barely in time.
Bidding their farewells and wiping their sweat off their brows, the four students parted ways to their respective houses to retrieve the students that had said they would come to the party. Ami, being a proud Hufflepuff, had gone to retrieve Amadea Campbell; Lorelai, a Gryffindor, had fled to fetch Scott Alexander and Aurelia Bezuidenhout; Gabriel, the Ravenclaw, left to find Odette Haven; and Syrah had been equipped with the biggest responsibility of them all- fetching her fellow party-going Slytherins, as well as tricking Mia into going to the Small Hall. Ami had solved the problem by handing Syrah a note before she left, which simply said, Come to the Small Hall, now. I'll be there. -Scott. She'd gotten Scott to write the note when she'd met with him, just in case she needed it. Now, it came into use, and would hopefully get Mia down to the Small Hall.

Ami, Lorelai, and Gabriel returned to the Small Hall with their respective guests mere moments before Syrah ran into the Hall, whisper-shouting, "She's coming! Hide!" In a flurry of giggles and whispers, the students hid behind various pieces of furniture dotted around the room, anticipating the big moment.
The double doors creaked open as Mia Alexander, soon-to-be twelve-year-old, crept into the room. Sharing an excited glance with her fellow students, Ami counted down to zero on her fingers, and together, the students leaped out, screaming,
"Surprise! Happy birthday, Mia!"

A couple of quick notes here I'd like to comment on:
First of all, thank you to everyone who RVSP'd, I'm sure Mia will be extremely happy. Hopefully. We'll see. Either that, or she'll be spanking mad at me for doing this behind her back.
Secondly, a huge, huge, huge thank you goes out to anyone who allowed me to godmod them. Your faith in me is astounding, I hope I haven't let you down.
Third of all, this had got to be the longest post I've ever written, so that's an accomplishment within itself.
Fourth, I love dodie, she deserves to be in this post. Fite me.

Happy Birthdays, Happy Holidays
MIA ALEXANDER
Clutching the note in her hand, Mia rubbed her eyes. It was past curfew, yes, and the only light that was guiding her was the light from her wand. Thank Merlin she knew Lumos from Charms class.
She tugged at her hair, willing it to lay flat against her head. Of course it didn't. She looked like a half-put together mess. Her usually impeccable hair was down in a messy fishtail plait that reached just below her shoulder, and her cute strawberry covered pajamas were pressed and ready for bed. Her annoyingly big slippers were clunky, but clean, and the eyes on them seemed to move in the dim light.
Yawning, Mia advanced down the corridor, wand in her hand. What would Scott want at this time of the night? It hadn't been that long since she met him out on the grounds, and summer was coming up, where they would see each other for days on end.
Picking at the little Alexander crest embroidered above her pocket, Mia suddenly had her doubts. Was it even Scott's note? Or was it someone else's handwriting?
She knew that she had enemies, sure, but not many at Hogwarts, save for the casual negative acquaintance, and Justin Stone, who would never come up with an elaborate scheme in his life. Or so she hoped.
Looking down at the small note, she read it again, mouthing the words as she did.
Come to the Small Hall, now. I'll be there. -Scott
It seemed realistic. His handwriting was the same as it was on the first day of first grade, annoyingly better than hers, in her opinion. His t's were crossed at an angle, like they usually were, and Small Hall was capitalized. That was Scott. The grammar king.
Sucking in a breath, she flicked her wand just right, and uttered a single syllable.
Nox.
Now she was in the complete dark. The wooden door to the small hall was right in front of her though, and she rested her hand on it, ready to push it open.
She stopped suddenly, and sheathed her wand, sucking in a breath. She was nervous to see him. He was...well..amazing. She looked up to him, though she would never admit that. And if he was crying, well, then what would that leave her with?
She was being silly. Shaking her head, she rested both hands on the heavy wooden door and pushed, it creaking open slightly.
She grunted and crept into the room, looking around. It looked decorated? And why wasn't Scott here? That was confusing.
Surprise! Happy birthday, Mia!
People emerged from under the furniture and she gasped, extremely surprised.
Scott was there, her dear cousin and closest friend, his sandy blonde hair and green eyes standing out. You couldn't miss him in this crowd.
So was Aravis Escanora, the girl she had met while playing Gobstones for the first time, and the girl she had bonded over music with. She looked as beautiful as ever.
Amadea Campbell was there too, smiling. That was the girl she had completely screwed up in front of, but admired immensely.
Syrah Steele was there, her fellow writer, and one of the most organized people she knew. Literally. The girl was on top of things, striving to make the newspaper the best it could be.
And Odette Haven. The girl with the amazing guitar playing and impeccable style. The girl whose hair was perfect and had a voice to match.
Then there were two people she didn't really know, but liked the looks of. One was the same height as her, with jet black hair and an expression that drew Mia to her. The other a green eyed boy that was not much taller than her. Mia shot both of them a smile.
Mia turned to the next girl. It was Ava Silver! They started off as enemies, but quickly bonded. It was so nice to have her as a roommate, though the experience was fleeting. Mia was glad that she still got to see her at the newspaper office.
Then there was Aurelia Bezuidenhout, the girl whose name she could never spell. The girl who had shown so much kindness when talking to Kaegen. Mia hoped that she had forgiven her for pushing him down and scaring him.
And last there was Ami Procoppio. The vegan, the bookworm, the one who listened. The best friend you could ever ask for.
Mia smiled at her, and then quickly realized that she was the one who had put the party together. She didn't know anyone here as well as her, except for Scott. And Scott? He didn't have the capability to organize something this big. (Sorry Scott)
Running towards Ami, she went up and hugged her, strands of her auburn hair flying.
Squeezing her tightly, she then pulled back and looked her in the eye, a grin taking over most of her face.
You didn't have to do this. Merlin, you didn't even have to acknowledge me. But Thank you. Thank you for caring.

First off, I'd like to say that this is one of the nicest things any one has ever done. I have a bucket list at home, and it reads: make new friends, master Spanish, run the NY marathon, and have a surprise party. I can finally check that one off of the list.
This is amazing. I'm so lucky to have had a great experience on this website, full of people who are not only great writers-better than me-but can put up with my crap. Whether it be incorrect spelling and punctuation, my attitude as a whole, or my awful writing.
So thank you.
Ami, you in particular. This is amazing, and I think I'm going to hire you for party planning next year.

Happy Birthdays, Happy Holidays
Regarding the area of sneaking around, Scott was significantly inexperienced. So much for a Gryffindor, but the fact must have been made evident before both Aurelia and Lorelai, as his feet stumbled and stomped their way recklessly through the otherwise quiet corridors.
"I'm sorry." Was all he whispered the way over to the small hall, knowing he made more noise than both the girls combined. He couldn't help it. His pajama bottoms were too long, baby blue silk apparently too expensive for him to grow out of in a couple of months. "I'm sorry."
Because of this stumbling, he carried Mia's present carefully before him with both hands.
It was a box of ostensibly delicious chocolates (uglily and unnecessarily wrapped in red paper). It was a gift simple enough, only these were of a Hungarian kind. He'd made his brother Silas buy them whilst in Budapest for an exhibition game, and then send them to Scotland for him. He hoped Mia would get that gesture, knowing how he could have gotten her something more exciting or expensive.. something magic.
Still, he felt quite confident as Lorelai opened the doors to the small hall and had him enter with the box before him.
The room was well lit, which was uncomfortable for his eyes at first as it was such a strong contrast to the previous hallways, but it got better fast and he was able to enjoy the pretty sights before him.
Ami had done a great job.
Scott was sure there were others behind it, as well, but he didn't know their names yet so why bother at the moment? What was important was the view. There was food, decorations, banners and tables. One of which Scott assumed was meant for presents, and he'd only just managed to place his on the tablecloth before Ami got the attention of everybody in the room:
"She's coming, hide!"
Hide. Scott threw himself underneath the napery in desperation, hearing the doors slowly open just as promised. Mia took a few steps into the room, before Ami gave the signal of reveal.

When Aravis had made it to the party without being spotted or messing up the cake she hsd never felt so relieved. She pitter pattered across the floor, putting her hair in an incredibly sloppy low ponytail to keep her hair out if her face, as the decorarions were set up waiting for Mia. She was happy for Mia. The girl was 12 now. That was a pretty big thing. Soon they would be moving on to second year.
The decorations were drop dead amazing. Aravis was amazed with how they were able to put it all together. She couldn't wait to see the birthday girl's face when she arrived.
All the gits were neatly in place. Aravis had gotten her friend a ruby and emerald encrusted dagger along with a silver and a watch made from 201-Carat Gemstones. It was nearly impossible to convince her family to get the expensive wath and dagger but she had gotten it.
Then it was time to hide. Mia was coming. She quickly ducked under a table to avoid being spotted. After the few seconds Mia had entered the room everyone jumped up and screamed "Surprise!!!" Aravis had screamed at the top of her lungs, possibly the loudest of the while group. She hoped they didn't wake the whole castle.
She quickly dusted off her silk nightgown and ran up to the birthday girl and gave her a hug excitedly. "Happy birthday, Mia!" She said with a smile.

Happy Birthdays, Happy Holidays
Amadea was still feeling down about her terrible birthday, but she hoped celebrating Mia's would lift her spirits. She knew Ami and many others had worked long and hard to prepare the event and make it absolutely perfect. She couldn't wait to see the finished result. Amadea was sure it was amazing.
She ducked into the Small Hall, hoping she seemed inconspicuous amongst all of the other traffic around Hogwarts. She didn't want Mia finding out about this party before it even happened! The whole point was to surprise her. When she arrived in the room, many people were already there, bustling around and making sure everything was set. What really stood out to Amadea were the incredible decorations. She couldn't fathom how long it must have taken Ami and the crew to make them and put them up. Everything was perfect and the cake was beautiful.
Amadea was not surprised though; she knew her friends were amazing and would make sure everything was wonderful. She smiled at the people in the room, not recognizing many of them, but not caring. This was about Mia, not her. She took her position as the time drew near for Mia to arrive, hiding and ducking behind a table. She hoped she hadn't wrinkled her dress in the process. She brushed off her worry as the lights flickered off. Footsteps approached and she heard some whispering.
As everyone jumped up, Amadea sprang forward, yelling, "Surprise! Happy birthday, Mia!" She watched as Mia's face went from startled to joyous, making Amadea smile herself. She loved when other people were happy and she could tell Mia was definitely happy. Now the party could get started!

Happy Birthdays, Happy Holidays
Syrah wasn't really a night owl. She liked to think she was but once 11 rolled around she would tend to get sleepy. If she was reading a good book or watching TV she could usually make it past 1. And so she was worried that she would dbe too tired tonight to attend the party, let alone help with it.
Thankfully, although she started out tired as she exited the Slytherin Common Room, being as careful as she could, she woke up quite a bit with the excitement of breaking curfew and helping set up this party with magic. Her main job was to cast Zwevendous, which Co fused and honored her, as she figured Ami could do it better than she could. But once the place was done, filled to the brim with dazzling white lights, Syrah looked up and grinned widely. She had done an amazing job, and she only hoped the lights would stay hovering and that not too many would slowly fall back to earth and die.
She didn't know Mia too well. She was a nice, kind girl who worked with Syrah on the newspaper. She got her columns in on time, which was better than even herself. And didn't seem to mind when Syrah overstepped her bounds as simple writer and became too bossy. She always appreciated that. She felt bad being like that but felt that sometimes it may be necessary.
But because she was not very aquainted with Mia, she wasn't sure what to get the girl as a present. So she went with something rather obvious. She spent a decent lump if money in sweets from Hohsmeade and Diagonal alley and stuffed then in a plain little box. But the fun part, she was rather proud of this idea, was that she wrapped the box tightly in the previous months Slytherin Newspaper. Mia not Syrah were writers at that point, but their newspaper wasn't out yet and this was the closest thing. She thought it was cute and hoped Mia appreciated the sentiment.
It was also nerve wracking to return it the Common Room and retrive the Slytherin guests as well as Mia. Ami had given her a note in case Syrah would not figure out how to live her, and Syrah decided early on to use that not as her imagination was not too great and her nervousness stopped any new ideas from forming. She quickly woke each Slytherin guest and told them to run to the Small Hall. She needed them to get there before Mia did. Then once they were good and gone she gently shook Mia from her sleep. Quickly handed her the note and whispered that it was super important, and then ran. She waited in the Corridors far enough outside the Common Room door to see Mia exit but far enough to have a good head start. And when she say the birthday girl exit, she took off towards the party and burst in to give everyone warning, quickly hiding herself as well.
Only moments later, everyone was thankfully in their hiding places, Mia walked in. Then when she looked nice and confused, they all jumped out. "Surprise! Happy Birthday Mia!"
Happy Birthdays, Happy Holidays
Odette nervously walked down to the small hall, watching as her feet covered in fluffy slippers moved quickly. It was Odette's first time at a birthday party and her gift for Mia was kind of extravagant and she wasn't sure if Mia would like it. She knew that Mia enjoyed playing the guitar so Odette got her a new one for a birthday present. She didn't know Mia very well yet but she did know that she liked music.
She blew a strand out of her face and bit her lip. If she over thought this too much she would probably freak herself out. Shaking her head, she straightened her shoulders in determination. Tonight was Mia's night. Her birthday. Odette's insecurities could exit the door to the left.
Making it into the small hall, she saw her cousin, Aravis, Ami and a few others already there. She grinned. She was happy to be apart of something that will make Mia happy. Odette put her gift and card with the other gifts and quickly found a place to hide when someone announced that Mia was almost here. When the doors opened and everyone jumped up, Odette yelled, "Surprise, Mia! Happy Birthday!"

Happy Birthdays, Happy Holidays
Lorelai was excited about the party, despite the fact she hardly knew the girl it was held for. In fact, they had never met. But, she was happy to meet new people, and help out her friend. She was prone to staying up late anyway, so it was no big deal for her to wake up in the middle of the night.
When she needed to leave for the Small Hall, she arose with ease and waltzed out of her dorm, only slipping on a pair of shoes before she left. She felt a little bad she hadn’t gotten Mia a gift, but she didn’t know what she would want. Earlier in the day she had made a small card from a piece of parchment that ready Happy Birthday, it wasn’t much but she couldn’t think of anything better.
Lorelai was doing her best on the decorations and making the general arrangements for the party look half decent. It wasn’t her strongest suit but she thought she did a pretty reasonable job. Taking a step back she admired her work and the work of the others, who had done a great job. It all looked fantastic.
She then went back to her own house to retrieve two other Gryffindors. She recognized the girl, Aurelia, though he hadn’t met the Scott before. She greeted them both with a smile and led them to where the party was being held. Almost just after they arrived she heard Syrah yelling for them to hide.
She ducked under a table, and when getting Ami’s cue, she yelled with the rest of the guests. She hoped that Mia liked the party that Lorelai helped with.
”Surprise! Happy Birthday, Mia!”

Happy Birthdays, Happy Holidays
Invited to a party whose person of honor was a someone who he did not know. Given an important role in having to both magify the place where the party would be held and to also somehow manage to drag down the rest of the Ravenclaw invitees, luckily only one though. It would not be an easy night, at least not the beginning part of it.
After meeting up with Syrah, Lorelai, and Ami, they went to start preparing for the party within the small hall. Gabriel and Syrah were tasked with Magic. They were to make the place more comforting, kind, and also protected. Gabriel didn’t even know the practical use of some of the spells that were given to him, but he would have to still try them out. Protego horriblis- what can be so horrible that you need such an advanced form of protego? The killing curse? Or just the other unforgivable curses? Gabriel thought to himself, pondering over what to do. What to do...
After doing some of the spells written on the sheet, some he knew and other he could only guess their use, Some he managed to procur immediately and others he couldn’t even recreate. Gabriel decided to use a spell known only to him, and to a few select others. Making sure no one was watching, he cast the spell with a practice look. <<Helio>> Then immediately the air felt lighter, and everyone felt more awake. The truth was, they would all feel as if it were day time, even though it were not. This feeling wouldn’t last long, as he had not cast it strongly.
After finishing his tasks, Gabriel rushed to where he would meet the rest of the Ravenclaw invitees, which was only one... “dragging” her back down to the party, they prepared for the big moment.

Happy Birthdays, Happy Holidays
Ava was... happy.
Surprised, but happy. She absolutely loved Mia - they were enemies, yes, but quickly became friends and it was nice to still be able to talk to her since they were both in the newspaper team. Well, Mia was actually productive and Ava just was there, but it still counted. Knowing that the girl will be having a birthday party (why did no one tell me earlier?) was great news - at least for Mia. Presents and cake what more do you need?
Her enthusiasm was a bit smaller when she learned it was a surprise. She was pretty good at keeping secrets, but it was so tempting to tell the girl - what was harder, was not talking about getting Mia a gift all the time. In her letters to Kate. To people that were also going to the party, like Syrah. To everybody around her, to be honest. SHe spent a lot of time picking it and she won't allow it to go to waste.
When Syrah led her - well, somewhat since she was definitely faster than Ava was - to the small hall, she was surprised with not only how many people with there but also with how great it looked. She would never be able to do so much work, especially since everybody here was eleven. The girl quickly placed her gift among all the other ones and just stood by it for a couple minutes, before hearing "She's coming! Hide!" from Syrah.
When Syrah whisper-shouted those words, Ava absolutely panicked. She curled up under the table, hoping that Mia won't see her, and when the time came, she calmed down before jumping up an yelling
"Surprise! Happy Birthday, Mia!"

Gift (yes, gift. It took a lot of time to find okay?! especially something to bring out blue eyes since I don't have a taste in clothing.):
