Angela was right that there was only a few minutes left. Still. A few minutes was still not the end of the lesson. So what if other students had finished? It wasn't like that was them. "But it's not the end of the lesson. And we haven't finished. We didn't even get close. Surely it's better to just wait-"

But Angela was almost packed up. No, not almost. She had packed and she was about to leave too. Not even that. She was leaving. Clarisse stared after her, a little out of it, waiting for her to turn around and say she was joking or something. The girl didn't seem to stop. She barely cast another look back.

Leaving Clarisse to sort it out, all on her own. Taking a deep breath, she went back to dabbing the spillage with the paper towels again, deciding she may as well try with the time she had left.

And, all of a sudden, Angela was back at her side. So she didn't have the guts to walk out of lesson after all.

She had a reason. Her cauldron. It was an actual reason too. But Clarisse could just see it as an excuse. "Well, we don't have long to wait," she stated simply, passing some towels in Angela's direction. She wasn't expecting her to do anything, but thought to offer anyway. "Listen, I'm sure it'll be fine. We can leave soon. Sorry for messing up so bad."

Clarisse couldn't think of any way to fix it.

It's not your fault, responded Angela mechanically. She looked at the paper towels pile with desperation. Silently she took some of them and started to wipe the table. Since she was already here, there was no point to stand and do nothing while Clarisse tried to clean up all this mess. She felt an impulse to apologize, but didn't even know what to say. Sorry for, uh, not leaving you after all? If only Clarisse went with her in the first place, all this awkwardness could be avoided.

There is still this stuff in my cauldron, she thought, hopefully professor will get rid of it.

After a short while silence became unbearable. Clarisse... there's some of this potion on your robe. Just saying. You might want to wipe that. She had no idea what to add.

Professor was already walking around the chamber and grading potions. Finally he graded theirs too (with a D) and emptied the cauldron with a simple wand gesture. Class was dismissed.

Only then an idea appeared in Angela's head. Hey, you have to walk all this way to Ravenclaw's tower, and my common room is literally next door. I think it's not allowed to invite guests there, but maybe I'd borrow you some dry clothes, you could change in the bathroom on the first floor. Clarisse was a bit taller, but it should be possible to find something oversize that would fit her. Or just come in if you wish, she added with no enthusiasm. Clarisse apparently wasn't keen to break any rules at all.

I didn't want to godmod the professor too much. He didn't have the time to respond.

"But it is," Clarisse insisted, not wanting to offend Angela any further. After all, the girl had been so ready to leave - Clarisse had to feel guilty about that. But a silence followed, which made her feel worse. If it was her fault, why wasn't she doing more? Because she didn't know what else to do, that was why. Instead, she wiped at the table awkwardly, avoiding eye contact with Angela.

The Slytherin pointed out potion on her robe. Clarisse gave a small gasp, dabbing at it with some clean towels. "Thanks for telling me," she smiled back, hoping that was a sign of peace. There was going to be a stain, she just knew it, but as long as she got most of it off, she wouldn't have to worry about contaminating everything around her with potion, "Do you think the house elves would be able to clear this fully?'

After the professor had graded their potion (badly, of course) and had managed to solve their problem in seconds, rather than the minutes it had taken them to do nothing, the class was dismissed. Her equipment piled up into her bag, she trudged out rather disheartened. She hadn't meant to screw everything up. But, before she could quite reach the staircase to climb up, Angela spoke up again.

"If there are any dry things..." Clarisse asked, her attention - and mood - piqued, "I wouldn't want to impose. But thank you! Really, thank you!" Then it came the matter of where to change. Angela clearly didn't think Clarisse would want to come into the Common Room. Or she didn't want her to - the girl was so unenthusiastic when she suggested it. The Ravenclaw decided it was a bit too early to start stepping on toes.

"I can change in the bathroom. I wouldn't want to get you into trouble. Besides, I can get myself cleaned up in there anyway. Rinse these robes out and all." She gave a smile. "If that's alright with you." Now, there was a playful tone in her voice. Hopefully, they could go and put all this behind them.

Angela was extremely relieved. Clarisse wasn't that mad at her after all. Sure, it's not a problem! I'll help you pack, she said and started to neatly sort out Clarisse's scales and utensils. When all her things and books were placed safely in her bag, they could finally leave the class.

Ahhh, she groaned jokingly when the door closed behind them, that was awful! She tried to smile and cheer up a little. At least it's over. And the professor didn't kill any of us. Even me. That's something. She blushed a bit. There really was no need to try and run out of the class like she tried to. She clearly overreacted. Just like Clarisse, but in her own way.

Hey, let's go and get these clothes for you. Is she trembling? It was pretty cold here in the basements, and Clarisse didn't look like she was used to such uncomfortable environment. Or anything uncomfortable at all, for that matter. She was so... fragile. Here's our common room... I'll just step in here and I will be back in a minute, wait for me, ok?

She rushed through the common room to her dorm. Her robe still was soaking and few people gave her weird looks, but she couldn't care less. She quickly reached to her trunk, pulled out some clothes that seemed suitable - grey shirt, pale blue sweater and some black pants - and hurried back to Clarisse. Here. I hope they will fit, I'm shorter, but these are big. Enjoy. Now excuse me... I gotta change too. And... thank you? I'm sorry? hope you're all right? don't hate me? ...take care.

Angela was nice enough to help her pack. Clarisse smiled widely at her, grateful for the help, and made sure to thank her when she left. Once they were out, she let out that sigh of relief that she had been holding in ever since they had spilt the potion. "You're right, it could have been so much worse!" she grinned, glad that everything was behind them. The potion and Angela trying to run out on them.

With the mention of the clothes, Clarisse gave a small shiver. Only a tiny one though- she didn't want Angela to worry about her. "Yeah, how about that. I'll wait out here, of course." After all, it wasn't like she had anywhere else to go. A few Slytherins moving in and out of their common room gave the dripping first year Ravenclaw standing outside a few odd looks, but the girl ignored them, focusing on not dripping all over the floor.

Angela's return came quickly and was met with a huge smile. "I'm sure they'll be fine! Thank you. So much. Again. And sorry." She glanced down at the clothes in her hands. "I better go change. I can get them back to you tonight? If that's alright."

Angela was already ready to go change too. "Take care!"
