DURMSTRANG VS MAHOUBATON

Round Three

After initial attack attempts from the Beauxbatons, Durmstrang had decided that they would retaliate in full force, not just for the past few units, but for the upcoming round as well. Both Hexwizard champions were in predicaments they probably wished they weren't, with Yefim sharing a broom with the peppy, blonde Sofia (who didn't look quite happy at the situation, especially when Yefim took over her broom) and Angélique getting dragged backwards, away from the head of the pack. What chaos would ensue now?

Unit Two

It seemed that whatever had affected Enzo to stay put was now over, and the French boy shot foreword, possibly with the hope of rejoining the rest of the pack.

Unit Three

It would be smooth sailing for Enzo now, open fields surrounding him, yet a precarious cave entrance in sight.

Unit Four

Enzo would shoot quickly through the cave entrance, hopefully without issue.

As Enzo made his way deeper into the caverns, he would run across and right past fellow teammate Coraline, who had seemed to have fallen under the same unmoving spell that Enzo had just broken out of. Perhaps she was simply too afraid of the dark to move?

Enzo would keep pushing onward through the smallest part of the cave.

While Enzo was completely alone, that still didn't prevent him from scraping his leg against the cave wall. It was easy to misjudge space when it was this dark.

Unit Six

The cave would start to widen once again, Enzo still doing his best to catch up with the rest of the pack.

He would survive as those before him had, coming out of the cave a bit more battered than when he went in. It would be here that Yefia would start the round, opting to keep flying forward instead of having Yefim return to his own broom.

Unit Seven

Now out in the open fields, Enzo and Yefia would push onward, with Enzo beginning to slow, ending out in the fields. He would see some of his fellow racers pushing onward in the fields ahead of him, hopefully it would be enough.

Unit Eight

This unit would be relatively peaceful, with the racers neck and neck, doing what they could to win.

Unit Nine

It would be here that the Durmstrangs began their onslaught, with Kheanu yet again opting to slow in order to cast yet again at Angélique.

Angélique is now KOB at Unit 12. She will have to spend the next round remounting her broom.

Kheanu really had skill when it came to racing and casting, as he managed to expertly cast Relashio so well and so accurately that it hit Angélique right in the back, sending her flying off her broom to the ground. That had to hurt... and even worse she would have to spend the time finding and remounting her broom.

Unit Ten

This unit would be were the racers in front would start, and a few stragglers would be racing to catch up.

What the Beauxbaton's didn't notice, was one Mikael opting to not continue on with the group, to instead lay in wait for an unsuspecting racer to pass by.

While blatching wasn't a foul like it was in Quidditch, it certainly wasn't the most sportsmanlike thing to do, and it was sure to earn some gasps from the stands. Luckily for Maximilien, he would manage to avoid the Durmstrangs attack, and would continue flying onward.

Unit Eleven

What should have been clear sailing through the past few empty units had turned into a spell extravaganza, courtesy of Durmstrang. However the next few areas would be quite perilous, perhaps even impossible. Thorns would be the first to accost the young students.

The thorns were... well... quite literally a thorn in the side of many of the racers. Only four were able to make it through unscathed, while the rest were now bleeding out in various spots where they had been scraped.

Henrik would now seize the moment to cast at Sébastien Batteux, in the hopes of slowing him down.

The spell is rebound on the caster - Henrik is slowed by 1 speed for three rounds.

It seemed Henrik was too distracted by his now bleeding leg in addition to the pain of the acid burning his skin, and he managed to rebound the spell onto himself. He would feel is broom start to slow, and he would know it wouldn't be as fast as it typically was.

Unit Twelve

If the racers thought that the last unit was hard, this one was about to whip them all into shape. Vines that had grown extremely long would attempt to wrap themselves around the racers legs, halting their movement.

This time all only two managed to make it through, but Cielle, after a moment of struggling with the vines, quickly broke free and caught up with the others. Angélique, who was stuck in the vines, would then feel a spell strike her back, sending her flying off her broom and onto the hard ground below her. Luckily she was free of the vines, but she would have to remount before she continued.

Unit Thirteen

And then there were just three, three who had managed to survive the terror of the vines. This unit held a Whomping Willow, luckily most of the racers would be too fast for it to attack.

It was yet again time for even more thorns, these ones being much more numerous and sharp than the last.

None of the racers were able to come out of this thorn patch unscathed, some brandishing additional spots of pain. How on earth was this sport allowed for children?

Unit Fifteen

All of them persisted despite the pain, now opting to throw themselves in the way of precariously placed trees.

These trees were simply way too close together, and the racers managed to take quite the beating from it. In particular, Cielle would manage to hit every single tree she came across, surely doing her some severe damage. Would they be able to keep going? Or would they succumb to their pain? Who would come out the winner? The race was still too close to call.

Face Claim

Henrik's brows were still furrowed from his earlier failure. The slow burn of the acid that had bathed him a few rounds back, felt as if it were slowly digging its way into his skin. The boy's eyes darted around quickly as he moved forward. There was no way this stuff was actually dangerous, right? Though, the boy found himself doubting as his leg grazed one of the thorn bushes. Blood trickled slowly down his leg and into his sock. Which he might add does not feel very nice. Henrik wildly pointed his wand at a boy attempting to try and be somewhat helpful. The boy only felt dumbfounded as he looked down at his slowed-down broom. Henrik would wildly kick his legs screaming 'fuck' multiple times to himself.

Mikael continued to fly onward before pausing to take a look back in the direction in which he had come. A boy was flying off in the distance, slowly coming closer and closer. Though, in all reality, he was sure the boy was actually moving fairly fast. Mikael narrowed his eyes as he practically glowered at the other boy. Was this the one who attacked his Yefim? In truth, all of those that stood with the attacker was up for punishment. It seemed only right. Something that Yefim would more than likely agree with. Mikael leaned down towards the other boy intent on slamming into the other full force. Though, at the last second, the other ducked out of the way. Mikael quickly stopped his broom's aggressive speed in favor to turn and glower at Maximilien.

Lovely Creature Terrible Presence Perfectionist Fearless

The hunk of fallen cliff side that called itself a Durmstrang champion totally absconded with her broom like he owned it, ignoring her demand for respect. This was why no one really liked him, even though everyone was suddenly acting like they did now that he was famous. Deep down he was just a scumbag, and everyone just had to deal with it in hopes that it would bring great honor to the school. She had to admit, it was scary how strong and menacing he was. But seriously, how freaking rude?

They ended up getting even more hurt as the continued on, getting tangled up in some vines. Great, he wasn't even that much better at flying than her. Why did her first game have to be like this? Didn't she get to have a chance to shine, instead of being an afterthought hidden behind his towering shoulders? He didn't intimidate her, though, she had seen it all, and was just as fearless as any of her hardened peers. "[If you're going to steal my broom, at least fly it right, you ogre!]"

Reducio When attempting to use the return to broom action, this is a free action (meaning both users can make a normal action) the rider and ONE passenger (if there are multiple sharing the broom, it would cost both of their actions to return them to their broom also) can retrieve a single broom.

Reducio This broom can carry multiple people. When someone uses the catch option to rescue a falling teammate, they can catch one additional teammate in a given round. If the user has the ability Catch then a user can catch an indefinite number of teammates in a round, but for each person they catch after the first there is a stacking 20% auto-failure chance.

Reducio In the role of Seeker, if an opponent attempts to Bludger or Blatch you, there is a 20% chance that you veer out of the way the last second and another enemy player at RANDOM is targeted instead. Note: The new target still gets their normal dodge attempt. This is not considered to be an auto-dodge, in fact this roll is done before any accuracy rolls are done.

Kheanu cackled as he watched his second spell connect with the same target, and this time, causing them to be knocked off their broom.

There was hell to pay for all the damage to his clothes this game, and he was just glad someone was doing so. And paying so dearly, too.

With a renewed sense of vigor after that bout of vengeance, the Mondelez boy zoomed ever forward.

The next patch of thorns was again easily avoided, and an excited smile spread on Raphael's face. He knew that the upcoming part would be the true test; the hardest stretch of the race. So far had only been a warmup.

There was no time to check who had been left behind as he wound his way through the dense patch of vines, slipping by quickly and just far enough to not get tangled. Most of the others did not fare as well, but there was no time to take count. There was a dangerously aggressive tree to avoid next, but speed was on his side here, and the tree did not react quickly enough to make a grab for him. Breathing in relief, Raphael risked a glance around. Sebastién was still with him, and so was one of the Durmstrang racers, a girl. Someone with skill then, rather than just a fast broom. Everyone else had gotten caught in the vines.

The distraction cost him as he did not react in time to swerve around the patch of thorns, cutting himself on sharp edges and then scraping by a tree before he regained his focus and dodged the next ones. Pain was burning along his side, but nothing too bad; he'd managed to go unscathed before while others had hit obstacles left and right, so he was still in good shape. The blood dripping down his arm was an annoyance, though.

Nichlas did not get far, before the vines struck and kept him struggling. There was no way out for him and it was immediately a draw back to the lack of athletic strength he possessed. He was caught for now and possibly for a while, if there was no miracle happening and he cursed the organizers for letting those vines get so out of hand. He lost the lead and was no longer ahead of the rest, what an annoyance.

Cassie noticed the vines far too late. Though she tried to steer her broom around them, they wrapped around her legs and broom and she found herself unable to move. Letting out a grunt of frustration, she tugged at them but they refused to let her go. Oh, come on...
