Glenys tried to pay attention as the teams entered the pitch and the game was announced. Ellie was right, they would have enough time to discuss clubs later.

Did-? Did the commentator really just say that? time for Hogwarts to lose?? What the bloody hell? Weren't announcers supposed to be unbiased? Or as unbiased as possible at least, since, to quote papa, "no one is ever completely unbiased, we all have our own opinions and experiences" ... but that comment wasn't even remotely - and he didn't sound like was joking, either.

No, he really did say that. Wow.

Somehow Glenys got the feeling that she was going to regret attending this game. And apparently she already had more school pride that she had thought she would, judging by her gut reaction of offense. Who was that guy anyway?

Ellie was right though, the teams seemed to be fired up. "Good feeling about the game, sure, good feeling about the commentator... not so much.", Glenys grumbled in response to the other's words. Before mentally gritting her teeth and setting that aside. Who cared, right? She did, apparently. They weren't here to listen to a random commentator, they were here to watch a game!

"Injuries?" Oh boy. There would most certainly be those if she knew anything about the game. Though it being a wizard sport, maybe they would be less bloody than a Muggle equivalent? "Uh, there will probably be some, I think. With bludgers in the game and all. And it is not unheard of for someone to either fall of their broom or be knocked off." It also wasn't unheard of for someone to crash into the stands or into the grounds, but Glenys didn't say that out loud. She didn't want to scare Ellie off by accident.

Glen was right, the commentator definitely seems to favor the other team. As the game began, he even made a comment that Hogwarts doesn’t strategize. Maybe Ellie’s gut feeling was wrong. She nodded the thought away, surely this was just an attempt to get into the players’ heads.

“I don’t watch much sports, but I guess they were supposed to go after that…the..quaffle, is it?”

Ellie annoyed herself how completely uninformed she was about the game. Before Glen could even answer, Ellie’s attention was pulled to the players. From the looks of it, they were trying to knock each other off of the brooms. It seemed a whole lot more dangerous than she originally had thought. It was just a few minutes into the match and there was already a foul. “I may not know much about sports, but I think it is a bit early for that, no?”

And there it was, she found herself hooked. She always said she was not athletic, so she wouldn’t be into sports, but here she was completely enamored by the game. Even though it was getting violent, she couldn’t look away. She was now invested to see how this would play out. Although, still a tad bit confused, but eager to learn either way.

While Finnegan ignored most of what Decipio said to Bloom, he picked up on the implication that she was a quidditch player. It explained her extensive note-taking but not why she had to be so precious about her notebook. He couldn't even look at it without her frowning at him. Psh. As if that would stop him. He could hardly damage the precious pages with his eyes, now could he?

He'd just about finished reading the names and codified shorthands she'd written down when she adjusted his head like he was at a hairdresser's, forcing his eyes toward the pitch. If the game hadn't started in earnest he might've protested, but the excitement unfolding before him proved substantially more interesting than Decipio's writing.

Much to his surprise, the one ball whose purpose he understood (waffle? raffle?) was completely ignored by all players. Was there some rule that he hadn't yet been made aware of? Was the ball cursed? Questions piled up in his mind, too many to ask or keep track of.

Without realizing it, he'd jumped up out of his seat, completely caught up in the thrill of the sport. Even over the cheers of the crowd and the muffled noise of the rain, he could hear the low whooshing of the brooms as players zipped past. Quidditch wasn't some silly little game, there was actual, raw speed and skill involved, and for the better part of a minute, he simply didn't know where to look.

Thankfully, Decipio provided some helpful commentary to guide his senses, first toward Moussa, then Valentin, then Smith, then White. He made a mental note to bring omnioculars himself next time, they seemed pretty necessary for a fast-moving sport like this.

The purpose of the smaller, heavy balls became clear to him when they started hitting their targets. He handed the omnioculars back to Decipio, turned to Bloom, and hissed through his teeth when Quinn was knocked off her broom. "Will she be alright? That looked painful."

Beaming, he turned back to Decipio. "How old do you have to be to play?" Harper, the new chaser, didn't look that old to him and this was the summer game. To have a packed stadium like this watching you was unimaginable in football, even if you were an insane prodigy. He'd seen a small-looking boy on the other team, he'd gotten hit pretty bad but had remained in the air at least. Eddy Smith if he had remembered right. Didn't look that old either. Wouldn't it be something if he could be up there next year? The mere thought made him feel giddy.

Howard was late, fashionably late. Not really. He had done what most boys his age do over summer break, sleep in. No bells to signal the start of classes. No hum of the student body as they all shifted through the castle. No last minute homework assignments to drag him out of bed, but as this day dawned he would regret not getting up on time. The Quidditch match of the year was underway and he was dragging some serious you know what!

Long legs would quickly scurry up the steps of the stadium as Howard made his way to where he knew most of the Hogwarts students would be gathering in the stands. He mentally thanked Merlin that it was overcast and rainy as it kept the harsh summer rays off of his skin and cooled down these hot London days. However, his mood would be quickly tarnished as his eyes soon found a pair he had no wish to interact with. @Aurelia Notresvace and @Falentra Black sat side by side. It was easy to see why he may still feel uncomfortable around his ex-girlfriend, but the sharp pang of guilt that was associated with Aurelia carried an even deeper meaning. Howard paused his steps as he looked over the Gryffindor, but his eyes would drift to another as the memory so closely linked to Aurelia flooded his mind. As his gaze locked with @Evelynn Decipio she may witness a momentary blank stare as he remembered.

A young and confused Dhampir crouched in the shadows of the Owlery as another approached. The smell that filled his nostrils set off a primal urge that could not be resisted. The girl with a very familiar face (Aurelia) would enter and he would pounce. There would be ecstasy at first followed by a blinding pain. Then he would look down upon her as she succumbed to the injury he inflicted. The fear and guilt would almost be crippling before the images slipped away.

Fortunately for Howard this terrible memory would leave him as his gaze moved on to something much more positive. @Bloom Silverton would soon fill his eyes and bring a smile back to his face. "Coming through!" He called out to all in his way, including a first year boy (@Finnegan Connor), before doing the awkward passing through an aisle of people to take a seat next to his girlfriend.

There had been many games in the past, but there had been nothing like this one. The field was on fire with so much happening between all the teams. Supporting Ravenclaw, it was hard to watch them against Koldovstoretz and Durmstrang. So far, two Ravenclaw Beaters were knocked off their brooms, Winnie the Chaser scores 10 points to Ravenclaw, and Quinn... Oh dear... Bloom squinted away just knowing that she was now officially out of the game. It now made their team much more vulnerable. Bloom even saw Sylvain and she guessed that he wasn't looking too well. What was going on with the Ravenclaw team today?

Nearby, Bloom heard Aurelia's voice cheer on Durmstrang to take down the Ravenclaws. What was wrong with her? She's from Hogwarts. Even if they aren't the same house, she should be cheering for her school. Bloom's nose wrinkled at the thought and she jumped up screaming, "LET'S GO RAVENCLAW!" as loud as she could, wanting Aurelia to hear her show spirit back at the right team.

Jumping back down, she nodded to Finnegan who asked if Quinn was going to be alright. "Oh yeah, nothing magic can't fix," she said, with a smirk. She overheard him asking Evelynn about how old someone had to be in order to join the team. Bloom looked him up and down. He was tiny, but could make do as a chaser if anything. "Are you thinking of joining the team?" she asked, nudging his arm in a playful way.

Her attention went to Evelynn who fixed Bloom's assumption of what she was in the Hogwarts Headliner. "Yeah! That's where I've seen your name. I absolutely love the advice column. It really speaks to me. You know so much!" Bloom complimented the Gryffindor, also wondering how Evelynn would know so much about the world and teenage angst so well. "I have so many questions for you about relationships!" she said excitedly.

"I honestly don't remember if it was during Quidditch. I honestly focused on myself in strategy than I did about who I was playing against. I now do Broom Racing though. I like it a lot better. I was extremely scared in the beginning, but it's full of adrenaline!" she said with a smile. Bloom was about to share more with the Gryffindor when she saw a familiar face of someone that made her heart flutter.

Howard had just arrived and Bloom couldn't help but to smile back at her Damphir. He had squeezed through the row of people and sat down next to her. Her hands cutely clasped together, she looked at him with a big grin. "I'm beginning to learn that you're not a morning person," she joked and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Oh!" Bloom leaned back and pointed at Evelynn and then Finnegan. "Howard, this is Evelynn and Finnegan. Guys, this is Howard," ... My super hot, charming, and perfect boyfriend, she thought to herself being the teenage girl she was. Bloom found it appropriate to introduce the people that she has been talking to with her boyfriend and vice versa.

She realized that Howard, a Quidditch player himself, would want to be caught up in what he missed. "So far, it's 20 us, 30 them. Three Ravenclaw's are K.O.B., Quinn is out, Wyllt looks terrible... And I really don't think it looks good for us," she said, not having much hope for her house.

"Yes.", Glen nodded, "I'm surprised they didn't. They need the quaffle to score goals, surprising that none of the six chasers went for it. I get not sending all of them in to avoid crashes or I-don't-know, but none seems an odd choice." Yes, the snitch was worth fifteen goals and therefore arguably more important but it was still odd. The goals could make or break a game, too, and they were important for tournament stuff weren't they? Or maybe this was normal? But while Glen didn't know much about Quidditch she knew enough to seriously doubt that and then combined with the (albeit horribly biased) comments of that guy... Nah, seemed out of the ordinary.

Keeping on watching, Glenys was only mildly surprised to see a foul this early on. (A foul before any real Quaffle play? This game did have strange priorities.) But given the amount of possible fouls ... (She vaguely remembered dad mentioning something about 'too many foul types to count', though now that she thought about it she was only 70% sure that he'd been talking about Quidditch.)

When Ellie commented on it she hummed in vague agreement. "I think so. But I've heard that fouls are quite common so maybe not? Reminds you that it is a dangerous game, though. I don't think I would like playing this myself. I mean I'm not that much of a fan of flying either, but this just seems unnecessarily risky and un-fun to play, though watching kinda makes me want to have popcorn or something to nibble on." It felt a bit like the car crash analogy, in the it's-horrible-but-I-can't-look-away kind of way. Glenys was almost scared to find out how it would feel further into the game if this was the beginning.

At least the fouled person seemed to have been saved, so hopefully that wouldn't result in an injury.

Ellie completely agreed, she could never see herself actually playing the game.

“I’m not sure if I will like flying yet, but with how clumsy I am, I know I will have a hard time once I finally try. I definitely agree that I don’t think I could ever see myself playing. Something about the game has me hooked, though.”

She was completely mesmerized by what was happening. Players were being taken out left and right. From the looks of it, the players on the bench didn’t seem all that prepared to actually play the game, or at least, weren’t expecting to join in so early on.

Suddenly, one of the opposing players takes out the Ravenclaw captain and as she falls the rain starts to pour. “They say great rain always knows when to fall. I am sad how this is starting to play out for Ravenclaw.” The players started to go after the objective and actually grab the quaffle. It seemed like points were being ping ponged back and forth, but it didn’t take long for the enemy team to take the lead.

“They are really taking a beating out there.” The round ended. “I believe I saw a snack stand when we were getting in, would you like to grab something quickly?”

As soon as the game had started, the full of Greta's attention was upon it. Honestly, it was a wonder that she was able to keep the stitched banner lofted through it all with the way that she got very into the action. For every crack of a Durmstrang bat, Greta would scream her approval, jumping to her feet to strike at the air with little fists as though that would help direct the bludgers' courses to strike true to their targets. Goals were met with cheers. Opposing bludger and blatcher attempts, with resounding boos cupped within her hands. If she couldn't be on the team to help bring them to victory herself, she would give 110% to make sure they felt appreciated and supported every step of the way.

And she would be rewarded. "Darn!" A disappointed whine had pulled itself from her lips with an exasperated sigh to follow. "I thought he might have gotten away with that one.." she muttered, huffing slightly as Madhup was administered a penalty for the blatch. If he had been upset about the results, though, it would be difficult to tell. Greta's cheers would strike up anew as he hopped up onto his broom as though riding a board down the mountainside.

"He looks so cool!" she cooed, wide-eyed and in awe at his daring. The Durmstrang members were really bringing a certain show-level quality to the game which could absolutely be felt in the crowd. Hopping up and waving as he passed by, Greta would should to him, "Strike them down!"

A bright grin would envelop her features, bringing a little pocket of sunshine to their otherwise dreary environment as he pointed her out. As silly as it was, her heart did a momentary jig when he blew her kisses. That would temper her exuberance a bit, cheeks flushing red. If she had been a little bolder, she might have made a show of catching the air kisses and holding them to her own heart to mirror the movement of his palms. Alas.. Instead she would drop right to the bench, knees up for a hug and trying to suppress the fit of giggles that threatened to overcome her.

Not long after, she and her Kongen would be blessed with the attention of their favourite niffler. As he approached, Greta would jump up all over again, wand in the air and waving it back and forth with the hope of making the banner flutter. Of course, when he dipped and extended a hand, she wouldn't have to be prompted twice. Vaulting up, she would leap as high as she could, arm arcing dramatically to clap her hand against his. ([d20:]15+12=27)

CLAP.

Pause.

"AIEEEEE." A squeal of pain followed the high-five, the little valkyrie darting her hand back to her sternum on landing, cradled by the other. Palm aflame, she plopped to her seat, tears rimming her eyes. And in that moment, her distraction would prove her undoing as the Durmstrang banner dropped to blanket her with its heavy furs and fabric.

"Off!" Hands scrambling to free herself from her own trap, Greta would regretably miss the next part of the game. "What's happening?!" Her muffled plea would demand of Yefim. "Has Roo knocked anyone off their broom yet? Are we still at 30 points? Who did they just say got the penalty?!" All the while, she would battle and claw at her own creation to try to pull it off her. Once she had, she would find herself back to the aisle and trying to catch her bearings. A voice from nearby would make her jump, a little eep squeaking from her lips as she spun to face the newcomer.

"Bubbie!" Greta exclaimed, the boy instantly recognizable given their recent interaction at the BBQ. His unusual name had stuck with her. He didn't appear quite as well on this occasion, though, his face looking flushed as though her were feverish. To add to that, he seemed a little bit out of it. "It is good morning, yes!" The responding smile would inject itself with the full scope of her excitement for the match, bright and bubbly. "You come to be very happy for birds?" She wasn't sure of the word for excitement, and that was close enough. But as Bubba retreated, she would match his step with one of her own. One second later—and assuming he didn't dodge out of the way or otherwise prevent her intent—her palm would cup over his forehead checking for fever. "You not are sick, yes?"

"Sjef!" Greta would then call over her shoulder, turning her gaze over her shoulder to address Yefim in Russian. "This is Bubbie. I met him at the bahbeekoo. Is anybody else coming to meet us here? He can sit with us, right?"

Gresha would brighten up, following in much the same feverish excitement as he had. Her insightful eye to the Hogwarts' penchant for underhanded tactics to try to make the game as unbalanced as possible-- she was right on the money. It made him feel proud to have his Horntails be in agreeance, that harmony of vision is what made their assault so vicious. Yefim also knew how hungry Niff was, and how much the loss two years ago had shaped their future. They could overcome any odds for such a delicious victory.

As Valya passed overhead, Yefim began to try to run alongside him, toppling over others in the crowd with no regard. Niffler would kick him, eliciting a bellowing laugh that kept going and going. It would be a moment of gathering himself and ignoring the complaints of the spectators around him before he headed back over to Gresha, enraptured by the match. Does Yefim notice Howard [d20:8]+3 (no) Yefim would easily be entranced as well, seeing falling bird brains from the very start. So many of those proud dragons were his own, and it was a spectacle to see them fly. His heart would burn with enduring passion, tracking the movement like a cat to a laser pointer. The first round would even be punctuated by another fly-over by Valya, which Yafim would enthusiastically smack, before watching Gresha's somewhat less graceful attempt.

[”Liza* knocked two out of the sky.”] Yefim recapped cheerfully, [”Romeo's bludger hit three people. It was like a chain of lightning.”]

Yefim would help Gresha as she needed it, struggling to take his eyes away from the impressive display, highlighted by streaks of bright lightning. She would continue to speak, introducing him to someone beside her who she knew. ”Hello, Bub. Yeah okay.” He would deliver a lukewarm response. He looked like a Hogshrimp. Yefim would be too busy looking for Valya after he had disappeared into the clouds. Searching the skies, he could feel the intensity of his absence. He had seen Valya play many times, and his devotion to victory was pure inspiration. The moment he broke out of the heavens at breakneck speed, he knew that his golden one** had found the snitch. Such pride swelled inside of him.

[”Forget that, fishlet. Witness.”] Yefim would smile knowingly as he watched Val fly over one more time.

At least one of them was getting caught up in the game then. Glenys was still feeling hesitant, sceptical almost. She still planned on watching both of today's games, and maybe she would feel different after, but so far she did not yet see the draw.

"Mhm.", Glenys agreed. "We're not doing to well it seems. Might still change but we're not off to the best start." She hoped that the tide would change in Hogwarts' – Ravenclaw's – favour. She wouldn't quite call it a beating yet with only a 10 point difference, but Ellie also wasn't wrong.

A snack stand? Glenys must've missed it, but then she hadn't exactly been looking around as they had approached the stands. But that was good to know for later. Or for now, too, it seemed if Ellie wanted to go grab something now. For Glenys it was still a bit too close to breakfast for her to want snack and so she shrugged in response to Ellie's question. "I'm still full from breakfast, I think. Did you see what kind of snacks? I'd definitely be up for snacks later, depending on the kinds they offer, but we can go check it out if you want something now and I'll just stack up for later, maybe." It wasn't like Glen was that keen of watching every second of the game anyways. She wasn't exactly caught is suspense.
