It was May 28th, and the end of the year was close on the horizon. Those who had OWLs were about to take them, and the rest were staring down finals. It was the perfect time to get one's head out of a book and breathe in some fresh air, as well as get out some aggression with healthy horseplay. That was the thought both Flash and Alan had as they reconviened to devise up a new game for the end of the year.

With Flash having been mentally absent most of the last game, and with a refreshed resolve to bring joy to the people around him, he decided to take the reigns this time around, and helped set up the floating balls and get the batch of school brooms from the shack that held them. The two of them had a list of members to whom they sent an owl with an invitation to join the game that day. They would be told they needed to bring nothing except perhaps a hat to keep the sun out of their eyes. It was a beautiful clear day, with the warm shining sun beaming proudly across the Scottish countryside. Even if they were worried about their schoolwork, certainly no one could resist an excuse to be outside and play.

With the assigned time of noon, Flash and Alan would wait to see whether they would entice enough of the SWAG members to show up to even play. Flash would be wearing his eyepatch, with Alan at his side, both of them holding a bundle of brooms to hand out as soon as someone arrived.
OOC: Beneath the revelio is the rules for the game that was intended to take place. We did not play it due to lack of players, but it will stay archived here for if anyone wants to use it someday

Game Information
This game is open to 15 participants. Once the players arrive, we will randomly choose five aliens and ten astronauts. The aliens are trying to remove the astronauts from the game, and the astronauts are trying to activate a Disruption Field which will stop the alien's unending attack. This will be a fight to protect and save your allies, while still focusing on the overall goal, while for the aliens, it's a fight to eliminate the enemy, and exploit weaknesses. Any player on either team is sent to the Black Hole if they fall off their broom.
Rules
  • Up to 15 people may join, if you are a member of S.W.A.G. If you are not a member and would like to join, you can do so here. To join, post in this thread.
  • Always include your stats, abilities, and allies into your posts; this is for ease of moderation
  • For fairness to those who do not have access to broom funds, all players will be asked to used school brooms for this game.
  • This game will not be played very high off the ground, so falling will cause no damage. Flash or Alan will Spongify the ground if the players happen to fly too high before falling.
  • The WDC for activating a node of the Disruption Field will be determined by the average wisdom of the astronauts +5.
  • All site rules apply, but also you may not use spells in this game (Aliens may use only Tickling Spell.) If your character does, they will be automatically sent to the black hole. (Foulplay can work to circumvent this.) If you are chosen as an alien and do not have this spell, you will be made an astronaut and the alien spot will be re-rolled.
  • The games will last a maximum of 15 rounds, at which time if the Disruption Field is not activated, the aliens will win. Aliens also win if all of the astronauts are sent to the Black Hole. The astronauts will win once all ten nodes of the Disruption Field are activated.
  • Aliens are invulnerable, so cannot be stopped. When they go to the Black Hole, they can return to the game on the next turn. None of the astronauts' 'weapons' work on the aliens, so knocking them off their broom is the only way to slow them down.
  • Activating a node takes concentration, aliens will have advantage to attack if they correctly target someone fixing a node. If someone is defending them, there is no advantage to hit the defender.
  • If any astronaut drops below 10% health, they are lost to Black Hole forever.
  • You are required to have a Discord account for this game.
Available Actions
Aliens
  • Blatch (not considered a foul)
  • Rejoin (only action available when in the Black Hole)
  • Shoot (may cast Tickling Charm* for damage, with no chance to knock off broom)
*Tickling charm does 50 + AP × 10. We are removing the duration to remove the need for the Counter Spell
Astronauts
  • Blatch (not considered a foul)
  • Save (to retrieve an Astronaut from the Black Hole. Must share broom*)
  • Repair (get a broom back from a moderator and mount it)
  • Wait (the only action available when in the Black Hole)
  • Activate disruption node (a WDC to change one of the balls from 'off' to 'on')
  • Defend (become the target of a blatch/shot instead of the listed player)
*This follows the same rules as Two-Headed Dragon in Quidditch, so stats and action are shared

In an attempt to get herself out and about instead of spending another minute sulking in her dorm and studying more than her brain could handle, Willow decided to join the SWAG game. She didn't join the last one just because she didn't have time and she kind of missed the competitive aspect of flying. Usually for these events she would have braided her hair but uh... there was no need. She was wearing a dark green dad hat with a sun printed on the front of it to keep the light out of her eyes. Paired with pink bike shorts and an oversized plain yellow t-shirt with the front tucked in and a trusty pair of Vans she was ready to rumble.

She was a bit disappointed that she couldn't use her Silver Arrow. It didn't get to see the light of day that much anymore and this was an opportunity to use it. But, as someone who had to use a school broom for awhile she understood that it would've given her an unfair advantage over someone who didn't have the funds for a broom yet. She didn't want to wait energy before the event, so instead of tackling Flash with all the might she could she walked up to him and gave him a hug, grabbing a broom in the process before walking over to Alan and giving him a hug if he wanted one. "A shame neither of you are playing, I would've liked to beat you both. Especially you Flash, since you're a Quidditch player and all that fancy stuff." She gave him a playful shoulder nudge which really hit his forearm.

Willow made her way over to sit on the grass and stretch out, remembering how sore she used to be after Quidditch practice.

S.W.A.G games offered a nice change of pace from sports, and other typical- as well as untypical- extracurricular activities. They were always something that Xailah particularly looked forward to. They were nothing more than good innocent fun, which was what made them all the more charming. While she enjoyed her broom racing very much, it felt good to be involved in something where a house did not define you, and inevitable injury was only a passing thought. S.W.A.G, over the years, had become less of an opportunity to hone skills, and more of an excuse to be a kid.

For Xailah anyway.

Her childhood years were waning, and she wished to treasure the few she had left. She didn't want to fight. She had done enough fighting- more than enough. She didn't want to crush her opponents for a fleeting dose of serotonin. She didn't want to overpower and pretend like she was All That. She just wanted to have fun. With her peers in a depressing rush to grow up, she sometimes worried simple fun was too big (or stupid) a thing to ask for, but S.W.A.G assured her that was never the case.

Instinctively, Xailah had gone to fetch DeSoto, with the intention of riding the broom to the club's meeting place; though found herself deciding against it, having remembered that members had been informed they would be riding school brooms this session. A shame, she had thought. She had been wanting to take it out for a spin. Even after the completion of a new broom, a Firebolt which she had dubbed Dante, she still found herself going back to the ever reliable Moontrimmer, DeSoto. Clearly she had favorites- which wasn't at all surprising. She was a lady who played favorites, in both company and material things. She did poorly in hiding the fact.

It would seem the cub, and her cat, had arrived early to the meeting. There were only a few people present: Flash and Alan of course, as well as Band-Aid Girl. Willow, was the Hufflepuff's name, Xailah knew this, but Band-Aid Girl was the name that had been engraved in her brain. To her, Willow would always be Band-Aid Girl. Upon approaching the group, Xailah noticed two prominent things: the hat which rested atop Willow's head, and Flash's eye patch. The hat wasn't the metamorphs first choice of headwear, but she found the flowers cute and suiting for the badger. However it made her realize that she had forgotten to bring a hat of her own. Whoops. As for the eye patch... It was an interesting accessory, certainly. Maybe Flash was experiencing a pirate phase. Or maybe he was subtly channeling his inner fashionista. Whatever the case was, Xailah appeared to enjoy the article of eyewear.

Seeing what other people wore, when school robes were not a requirement, was something Xailah greatly enjoyed. There were so many ideas, and range of tastes in fashion- two great things to see. The young racer, was dressed in her usual ensemble for S.W.A.G flying events- a sleek jumpsuit and goggles, accessorized with a bow which clasped the curvatures of her slender neck. Sure she was going to dress aerodynamically, but she was going to add a bit of spice too. Xailah liked to think she, Flash, and Willow shared a similar idea of purposeful, but spicy.

When through with her observations, Xailah waved to her three club mates, but said nothing to them. She instead walked with Schrödinger, to a nice grassy spot that she would claim as her own, and lay down on her stomach. Those who spared her a glance would be able to see her preening through the long grass. Perhaps she had lost something? No, it was simply that time of the year (and the perfect time of day) for ladybugs to be found bumbling through grassy patches. What was a better way to kill time, than engaging in some bug hunting?

Lounging, looking for ladybugs, waiting for the game to begin.

SWAG. It used to be some weird acronym game, but now it has changed into soaring with alien/astronaut game. She honestly still didn’t know the real meaning of swag, maybe someone did tell her once, but the memory of it was permanently corrupted.

Aurora was wearing a black tshirt tucked under the jeans and paired with a brown oversized plaid shirt as the outer. Her hair was styled in red wine colour and a little candy hair pin. Not forgetting Lucifur who stood on her shoulder. The girl wasn’t the only one who dressed up for the occasion. His white fur was covered in black hoodie with a printed ‘I’m a cute devil’ text on it. Upon arrival she saw Alan, yes now she memorised his name, Flashlight guy, one person that she didn’t know, and the scary girl from the choir. She was that intimidating, Aurora couldn’t even bother to look at her direction. Perhaps it was her gracefulness or her stylishness that she could never imitate. She was just too cool to be true. So she just attempted to smile at the semi bald girl and the two boys.

Annoyance was what she felt when she found out that silver arrow is off limits. She didn’t remember the feeling of her butt sitting on that rickety old and dusty school broom. The wood was probably weak enough to even support her cat to fly. But hey, she believed in her skills, maybe. As Nicholas once said, she is amazing, and that was what mattered the most. No matter the outcome of the game, nothing would change that.

She let Lucifur jumped out off her shoulder and played with the grass. It was his favourite snack after all. As for Aurora, she waited until all spots were filled. Her hands were itching to hex people already.

Interactions: Everyone (minorly)
Studying called as finals crept up on them, their threat only tempered by reviewing thick bundles of notes. And yet, on this particular day, the outdoors called louder. Abandoning her work to enjoy the beaming sun was always tempting, granted, because Bridget had been working all year and summer was so tantalizing close, but it wouldn't be wise to abandon her academic efforts right before big exams. For a S.W.A.G. game, she could make an exception. Firstly, because she could still say she was doing something; the same didn't really apply to that urge she sometimes got to just lie in the grass. Secondly, because Flash and Alan led the club now and she quite liked both of them, so it seemed only right to support their work where she could. She already hadn't made it to the game in the fall. Or to the spring ball, something Flash had surely put a lot of work into. That one she felt bad about, since she really had meant to at least stop by to see his work. But going to another ball, it just... hadn't happened.

Taking the invitation as permission and an excuse to forget the pressures of school for a little while, Bridget would find herself out under a clear sky, the day warm. She'd heeded the owl, wearing a baseball cap with her ponytail threaded through to counter the brightness, which was probably going to be incredibly helpful if she was to be playing a game. Squinting uselessly into the sun did not tend to be a formula for success.

There weren't many people gathered yet, she noted as she approached. Perhaps most just weren't in a particular hurry to get there, this not being the sort of thing to demand perfect punctuality. Of those gathered, she recognized everyone: Flash and Alan, of course; Willow, who she thought pretty highly of through duelling and her being Flash's friend; Xailah, who'd been a part of that search of Hogsmeade; and Aurora, who she had no particular connection to, only knowing who she was as a Quidditch player and with her frequently-changing hair. "Hi," she greeted, short and accompanied by a little wave. Flash had on that eyepatch, and she couldn't say she was used to it, but she'd never mentioned it. She had a decent enough idea of why he'd started wearing it, there was no need to pry for specifics.

The collection of brooms would make her smile a bit; yes, they were school brooms, so had seen a lot of use, were nowhere near as fast as the Silver Arrow that was collecting dust under her bed, but they were still brooms and she had done very little riding lately. Maybe she should do that more, actually. It had always been something that made her happy, she'd only stopped doing it because she was busy. Well, busy wasn't exactly it--she'd been busy last year and found plenty of time to fly. She'd just stopped doing a lot of things. But anyway, flying again today would be nice, and though finals were still lingering on the edge of her thoughts, it wasn't hard to let herself relax for a bit out here.

It had been some time since Evelynn had actually attended one of the SWAG games; her schedule rarely allowed an opportunity to deviate far before time away from studies and practice would find a way to punish her. With the Quidditch season concluded, however, there seemed to be a small lull right before the final push that was bound to fall heavily upon them as they entered into the last month of school. She couldn't exactly use a lack of time as an excuse this time. Besides, ever since Flash had reached out to her again, Evelynn had felt compelled to take steps of her own to help make amends. This would be, if nothing else, another olive branch. A show of support by her presence in Flash's endeavors. And may—just maybe—she might even have a little bit of fun as well.

Her arrival at the appointed place was marked be a notable absence of her usual mount. The information had been clear: school brooms only. It was an unfortunate limitation. Evelynn had grown rather accustomed to riding her own broom and the thought of having to suffer through the use of one of the school's brooms had almost been enough to make her reconsider the whole ordeal. Well... perhaps almost was a touch of an exaggeration. In the letters, she had been dubbed "friend". What sort of friend would allow the mere inconvenience of a less-than-desirable broom to interfere with a show of loyalty? Not the sort that she wished to be at any rate.

Thus, without tarrying, she would make her way to the grounds at the appointed time. Given the activity and intent for flight, practicality would be in order as far as her wardrobe was concerned. Her usual textiles were traded in for a classic, wide-leg black jumpsuit. Not that you could tell. The ample fabric flowed in such a way as to give the trousers the appearance of a full-length skirt. The waist was cinched with a wide corset-like cloth belt that provided form without the same restriction that leather would have imposed. In contrast, the white long-sleeve V-neck top billowed loosely at the cuffed wrists. Nobody said you couldn't mix fun with fashion and true to her most recent article, black and white were in.

Down on the grounds, Evelynn was met with a rather lacklustre crowd. Or perhaps they were merely eager to get started with the game. Segregated to their claimed portions of the lawn, it was very quickly evident even in her brief moment after arrival that nobody seemed to be engaged in concentration. Well that hardly seemed in the spirit of a social and active club as this was meant to be.

"Are we all playing some sort of game of silence?" she inquired facetiously on approach, the hint of a smirk playing at the corner of her mouth. "You all do seem so focused..." Walking through the midst of them, she would nod her head and wiggle her fingers in greeting to each of them in turn before approaching Flash. Should he permit, she would gently place her hands on each of his shoulders and lean in to air kiss thrice, first left, then right, then left again. A smile would plant itself on a softened countenance as she pulled away, her gaze fixed momentarily on the eye patch. "You pull it off well." And little did either know in that moment, but it would give her an idea for the summer events to come.

"I will admit," she continued, stepping off to lower herself gracefully to the grass not far from Flash's position. She took a moment to adjust the silver comb embedded in her hair, its lustre and elegantly loose knot courtesy of its clever enchantment. "I would have expected more to have arrived by now.." It had, she supposed, been some time since she had actually attended one of their games. Perhaps the club was dwindling. "Are we anticipating more?"

First, Willow arrived, coming in for a gentle hug. Hugs from loved ones were always desired, and Flash would squeeze back gently, though there would be a hint of the fact that he was sorely lacking in affection lately. Becoming cold had been what he did to survive, but it had also deprived him of what he needed most of all. He would smile at her words, laughing a bit. "I think you would pall at my skill. I've been practicing a lot since we last played together."

Leaving her to stretch and relax, he saw Xailah and her fuzzy beast had arrived as well, lounging around on the grass as well without saying a word. He had expected her to arrive, and was even glad to get get to see another display of her skills for himself, but he might never he used to her excuse for social skills. After their match in the room of requirement, he had grown a certain respect for not only her skill, but her mind as well. It didn't mean he had to like her. Following her was the harpy girl, some younger student for whom his only memory was her high-pitched screeching about some boy after Valentines Day. She brought a cat too. Of course.

After that, two more of his favorite ladies arrived, giving him a bit of ease. Bridget was always a welcome presence, and he would smile widely at her with deep affection, even if all she said was 'hi.' After her, Evelynn strolled up with much more bravado, as was wont for her house, kissing the air around his face and commenting on his eye patch. He reddened a bit, not having known exactly how she would treat him after their latest correspondence by owl. He was glad she still trusted him, though his eyebrows would bend with incredulity. "If you say so."

She would then call to attention what was fairly clear... this was not really much of a turn out. It seemed Flash's instincts about how students would be enticed to go outside and play were not as true as he hoped. Unlike himself, and likely the five others who showed up, most of those who were invited decided not to show up. Naturally, Flash was disappointed at all the effort he put in that would be wasted, but he had enough on his plate to not add to it by dwelling on what went wrong. It was better to focus on the present, and on what was in his control.

"I'd like to say yes, but I think I failed to attract the right amount of attention." Flash would set down most of the brooms on the grass, taking one for himself to sit on as it hovered above the ground. He was tired of standing up. "Maybe we can play something more simple, all seven of us. Or I could speed over to the castle and grab us a basket of food to snack on. It would be a shame to waste such a beautiful day inside."

He was not only talking to Evelynn, but raised his voice and looked around at everyone, Alan included. He was realizing that perhaps planning games for SWAG was not the best use of his time, but that didn't mean he didn't want to spend time with the people who were there. Well, most of them. Not the cats.
