Jeronimo listened to the boy with the teeth gap as he sat awkwardly down. He was introducing himself to another of their classmates. Jeronimo watched them intently as he took a sip of whatever was in the goblet.
He instantly let the liquid dribble back into the cup.
"What the heck is this?" the boy snapped, seemingly to himself.
Jeronimo sniffed it twice, sticking his tongue out.
"Pumpkin juice," he muttered, "They actually make pumpkin juice. Why not just normal juice?"
A ghost passed by. Jeronimo began to rise in alarm, but noticed that nobody else was reacting. This was just the strangest place, he decided as he served himself some of the noodles and the slices of turkey.
Jeronimo continued to watch the pair as he ate. The boy - Mason - seemed to be adjusting to this new world as well. Jeronimo grinned. He hoped he wouldn't be the only one not really knowing what's going on.
"Hi!" he said, shouting over the rabble towards the pair, "I'm Jeronimo. Ravenclaw, eh?"
The boy sniffed as he looked around. "Ever get the feeling you could be in the wrong house? Not - not you specifically. Um. I dunno, I don't feel like a Ravenclaw. Ravenclaws are smart, aren't they?"

"Most are,"Lucia interrupted since she was sitting in between the two boys. She had a big heaping plate of mashed potato's in front of her.She was eating then when she had heard the question."Ravenclaws aren't just smart in general, we actually are best at keeping good grades in the classes we want them in.We stick to our goals.is that something you do?"Lucia asks as she explained Ravenclaw to him.
She was new but her mother was in Ravenclaw and she had gotten that from her.She then kept downing the plate while drinking the pumpkin juice. She didn't like the texture but it was something to drink. She finished her juice and pushed her plate away. She still hadn't gotten an answer so she pulled out her sketch book. She waved other one of the ghosts.
"Can I sketch a drawing of you?"She asked. The ghost nodded yes. She then began to sketch the ghost.

I did a ghost cause i couldn't think of anything else that works.

Mason turned towards Jeronimo with his usual toothy smile. "Hi, Jeronimo!" he greeted him cheerfully. "I'm Mason. Nice to meet you!"
He listened to Jeronimo's question, nodding a bit. "Well," he began, "I looked into what all the houses were and what they meant before I came here, and I actually expected to be placed in Gryffindor- the house for brave, daring types. I was a little surprised to be placed in Ravenclaw. But, you know, I think maybe being in Ravenclaw could have less to do with being smart or clever and more to do with wanting to learn... or maybe we're both smarter than we think we are," he added as he gave Jeronimo a reassuring nudge.
Mason listened as the girl beside him- Lucia, he was pretty sure her name was- explained some common Ravenclaw values to them. He nodded a bit. He got the feeling her question was directed more at Jeronimo than at him, so he didn't answer, but he did think about the question and how it applied to him. He'd always done well enough at his Muggle school- not outstanding, mostly B's, high C's, and an occasional A, but not bad, either. He never really felt like he needed to go the extra mile to get an A+, but maybe that'd be different here? Maybe he'd find classes at Hogwarts more interesting?
Mason was already feeling better now that he'd met a few new acquaintances, though Cecily hadn't spoken yet. He took a sip of pumpkin juice and refilled his plate with green bean casserole, macaroni, and a few slices of ham. The food was so good, it'd be a waste not to go back for seconds.
"So, did you guys know about the wizarding world before you came here?" Mason asked, looking back and forth between Cecily, Jeronimo, and Lucia. "My parents are both muggles- I didn't know anything about this place before I came here. It's like a dream come true!"

"I don't..." Jeronimo paused awkwardly, "pay attention to marks too much? I dunno. Never been that interested in my studies. Still, maybe learning magic will do it for me."
The boy thought as hard as he could to try and remember the girl's name. Stumped, Jeronimo decided to keep chatting and hope the name would come to him.
After Mason nudged Jeronimo, the kid chuckled. "No, I'm really not that smart."
Jeronimo picked at his nails under the table as he looked around for a bottle of Coke somewhere. It wasn't likely, but it was worth a shot. But of course not. There were just jugs and jugs of pumpkin juice.
Some great food, though. Jeronimo politely asked Mason to pass the ham as he also filled his plate. It was very odd. It seemed that whatever platter of food Jeronimo desired, the respective platter would suddenly appear not far from him, as if someone nearby had just finished serving from that platter of food. It took a few gos to realize that these were enchanted.
Jeronimo smiled at Mason. "I'm fairly new to this. My mum's a witch, but she never really talked about magic."
"They... really use magic for everything here, huh?" he said as he watched a plate suddenly vanish in a cluster of sparks. The plate reappeared elsewhere on the table, refilled with steaming pasta.
Sick of not remembering her name, Jeronimo finally sighed before smiling at the girl with the sketchbook.
"I'm sorry, what was your name again?"

"Muggle-born huh?"Lucia said not surprised."I was wizard born so i've always known about this place. At least i've known since i was 3,"Lucia said to him. She was curious to why he thought he would be Gryffindor. She didn't really see anything Gryffindor about him. Sure he seemed determined but for then anything he seemed to kind and prepared to learn all about this school."I think your a natural learner it looks like by the way. You already are wanting to learn everything you can about us and the school. I'd say that's enough proof that your a Ravenclaw,"She said smiling at Mason.
Lucia had listened to what Jeronimo had said before and told him "It's Lucia, Lucia Silver." She had finished her drawing of the ghost by this time and she smiled and said "what do you guys think?" as she showed the picture of the ghost. She had perfect memory maybe that was why she was put in Ravenclaw she thought when she showed then the drawing. She could have just drawn one of the simple ones but she loved the difficulty of the drawing. She even drew every tiny detail even though she didn't need to. she smiled again.

It seemed both of his new friends were from the wizarding world, although Jeronimo was apparently also a bit of a newcomer. This was a relief to Mason; perhaps they'd be able to help him adjust to the more unusual aspects of his new life.
Mason smiled as Lucia pointed out his Ravenclaw traits. "That's good," he said, "I'm glad to know I'm in the right house." Though he didn't exactly doubt that the Sorting Hat knew what he was doing when he placed Mason here, it still wasn't what Mason expected, so he was relieved to know he indeed had some Ravenclaw qualities.
"Ooh, that's so cool!" Mason said, awe-struck by Lucia's drawing. It was very detailed- the creases in the ghost's clothing were heavily shadowed, each strand of hair was visible and seemed to have a sort of movement to it, and the drawing somehow had a transparent feel to it, like a real ghost.
"You've been practicing a long time, haven't you?" Mason asked. He couldn't imagine how long it must have taken for Lucia to get that good. "You know, I really respect artists- not just people who draw, but writers and musicians, too. This sorta thing takes a lot of hard work." He smiled at her.

"Yeah i've been drawing and quite an artist since I was about 5. I really enjoy it,"Lucia says to Mason. she then though had sketched it then began to put it in color. She carefully erased the lines with them still there as reference. She shaded each part with the correct blue. When she finished the coloring she showed it again. Every crease and everything about the drawing was perfect she didn't miss a spot.It had so much movement in it and so so much detail. She smiled knowing that it looked exactly like the ghost she chose. She couldn't have done it better. She ripped out the page so they had longer to make their opinion as she began a new drawing. Which she was making a thestral in the forest. She drew it carefully starting with the thestral. She took every moment to make sure that it was detailed perfectly and made it look like it was coming out of the page. She kept working on it as she waited for the opinions. She completed the thestral quickly but began on the background. Only doing one tree at a time after carefully making and shading the ground. That's when she finally got answers.

Jeronimo shrugged as he gazed at the drawing. It actually was very, very well done. Jeronimo didn't have the best eyesight, but even he could tell that the drawing somehow appeared even more accurate than the subject matter. He could swear he saw some of the robes ripple.
For a moment, Jeronimo wondered if this was magical art. His mum had showed him various pictures from her school days, and many of the pictures moved like real people were permanently stuck in the same scene. Waving and such. Very odd.
Fortunately, it wasn't a real ghost in that sketch. Just a very talented artist.
"Not bad," he said, doing his best to hide his awe.
He listened to Mason gush about artists. His ears perked up when Mason mentioned musicians.
"Hey, I'm learning to play guitar!" Jeronimo grinned, showing his fingertips. They were barely calloused, but Jeronimo showed them proudly. He even reached over for Mason's fingers and tapped his own with them.
"Right? Right?" Jeronimo said, clearly excited.
The boy tapped them absentmindedly for a moment. Lucia abruptly ripped her drawing out of her sketchbook and began sketching again. Jeronimo turned to Mason, as Lucia seemed to be concentrating.
"So what are you gonna do after the feast?" Jeronimo chirped, "Haven't even moved into my dorm yet."

"Really?" Mason said, looking down at Jeronimo's fingers. "That's so cool! Would you let me hear you play sometime?"
Now that he was thinking about art, he started wondering how it differed in the wizarding world. He'd already noticed some of the moving, speaking paintings, and he couldn't wait to strike up a conversation with one of them. But what about music? Were different genres popular in the wizarding world? Maybe different instruments were common. And what about literature? Were there any stories published specifically within the wizarding community? He couldn't wait to find out.
"I think I'll probably settle into a dorm after the feast," Mason replied. "I'd like to get as much sleep as possible before tomorrow, since we'll be starting classes and all... I don't think I've ever been this excited for school before!" he added with a laugh.
Mason suddenly got an idea. "Oh, do you know what dorm you might sign up for yet?" he asked. "Maybe we should sign up for the same dorm and be roommates! That could be fun!"
As soon as he said it out loud, though, he shrank back a bit and mentally kicked himself. He knew he had a tendency to come on too strong when it came to talking to new people, and he was worried he may have sounded a little too excited.
"...I mean, if you would like to," he said. "It's alright if you don't or something." He smiled, hoping his nervousness wasn't too obvious.

Cecily was quite surprised when someone actually said hello to her. She smiled back at him and shook his hand.
"H-hi!" Cecily said shyly. "Nice to meet you, Mason! How many siblings do you have?"
