Volaril pushed open the door and stared around in awe. “This place is amazing!” She whispered. She had dressed in an emerald green blazer, black button down shirt, and purple pants. The effect was that she looked elegant and yet slightly masculine. Val didn’t care much for woman’s attire. She worried at a corner of her shirt Will Simon come? Will he really? She wondered. He was so kind. He was everything she needed right now. She went to the bar, and ordered something called a butterbeer. Taking a sip, she fell in love with the fizzy drink. “One more of the Butterbeers, please!” She said, hoping Simon liked them. Her parents had reluctantly let her stay out until 9:30 PM at night! That meant 9.5 hours with Simon, if he showed, or she could stay the night there! Volaril had decided to come early, hoping she’d be the first there, and she was. She always liked to get places early. Val didn’t know why she’d wanted to dress in fancy attire, she just had. Simon seemed like someone who didn’t care too much for clothes, but would appreciate her dressing up. She really hoped she was right about that. Why did she suddenly care so much about what he thought?

Arriving at the Leaky Cauldron to join @Volaril Korore

Simon had just finished helping out one of his neighbors with painting one of their rooms before grabbing a quick shower and changing before heading off to the Leaky Cauldron. He thirsty, but decided he'd wait because the last thing he wanted to do was be late and have a new friend think he didn't care enough to be on time.

The pub was rather old but had a sort of charm to it and he could see why it was still in business. He came inside and was greeted by one of the workers and quickly found the redheaded girl that he had met days previously. "Val! Good to see you, girl," he said as he came over to join her. Did he give a hug? A handshake? No, neither of those seemed right so Simon flashed up a peace sign to her before smiling widely.

"How've you been?" he asked as he came and sat down at her table. His eyes looked down to see the butterbeer in front of her, and another closer to where his chair now was and he assumed it was most likely for him but he didn't want to just take it. It was a thoughtful gesture, if for him, although water would have been just fine.

Serious talk with @Volaril Korore

"Doing well, doing well,"
he said as he took the seat next to her and looked to the Butterbeer. He was glad that his friend Val here liked them, but his opinion was that they were just too sweet. Simon didn't like overly sweet things. Still, he would try to drink it since she was nice enough to purchase one for him and he took a sip, trying not to show any distaste when doing so.

She then mentioned getting her pet rat, which they had talked about previously upon meeting. "That's fantastic!" he said but then noticed she was going to introduce him to this very same rat. She must have gotten him that very day. How exciting! "Pleasure to meet you, Silku," he said, stating the same first words to the rat as he had to the owner. Simon reached out and placed just his index finger to the little rat, as if shaking its hand.

"Your secret is safe with me, Val," although he wasn't sure dishonesty with her parents was the best route to go but soon she'd be at Hogwarts where she could have her rat with no problem at all. "I can try to give you some tips too on how to keep her contained." Rats could be tricky - at least rats named Rascal. His name suited him well.

Simon listened as she talked to the rat and smiled, knowing that she was going to love that little thing and when she expressed her concerns about being away so long, he was glad she'd have the rat as a constant companion for when friends failed her or in seldom times of loneliness. "It is hard. You'll miss some of the people, some of the places, some of the things. I miss my Aunt Maggie, my church congregation, my friends. I miss going to church and music stores and my room. I miss my cellphone and other technology.... but you'll gain so much too. It's not a loss and emptiness, instead it's a loss and a gain. You'll gain people that will feel like family and you'll write to those you love and keep in touch. You'll find favorite places at Hogwarts to spend your time and you'll find new activities beyond your wildest imagination. It's going to be great, Val, and I'll do everything I can to make things easier for you."

Making plans with @Volaril Korore

"Bless you," he said as she began her sneezing and he attempted another drink of the Butterbeer but was silently delighted when she ordered him up a water. Simon Kincaid had rather unusual eating/drinking habits and he always attributed it to his dhampir nature.

There was a menu for the Leaky Cauldron on the table beside him and curiosity had him scan over the items offered although he wasn't interested in ordering anything. It was always nice to know what any business offered though and being informed was always a good thing.

Simon hoped his 'bless you' would be well received because he knew some people were anti-religion and while he didn't fully mean for it to be as such, he was also quite a religious person

"Hey, you name it and I'm game for it. We could go meet Rascal at my place, get our school supplies...." and he wasn't quite sure what she meant by staying the night. Did it mean she could stay until night? Did it mean getting a room at The Leaky Cauldron because he knew that was an option, Honestly, if he let Aunt Maggie know, she probably wouldn't care. She was extremely trusting of him.
