I would suggest googling celebrities with whatever hair color/eye color you’re looking for and seeing if they have any younger photos.

Fans of Anne with an E could totally use their faces too!  Though most of them are new to acting and might not have many pictures outside of the show.

Hi everyone, I have a bit of a problem with choosing my avatar. I don't actually need help finding an avatar but since I was considering an digital artwork for avatar and I have seen people using digital arts for their avatars, I thought I should ask here: If I am using an digital art for avatar, do I need to get the permission first from the artist before using it? Or is giving credit in my profile description enough? And If I can't find the original artist whose art piece I would like to use?

I would give credit but if you can’t find the source then maybe don’t use it. I mainly use artists from DeviantArt or instagrams so I can link to their accounts. Some artists will have it in the bio/FAQs that they don’t mind if you use as long as you credit. Just look out for anything that says if you can use it or not.

It's great that you're considering this, Evgeniya! I think most people in the community just use whatever they find, but asking permission or crediting the artist is always best practice and should be done if you can find them/contact them.

The art that I’m using has a free as long as credited caption so I’ve credited them in my encyc.  

sorry I've been away for a while, this month has been super busy for me . . . and now I'm trying to play catch-up with this thread lol.

I won't have much time for picture searching, but if anyone has an image that needs editing, please feel free to send me an owl or quote me in the post so I don't miss it
I enjoy doing color changes (hair/eyes/skin/clothing)
or even photo shopping things on (freckles/glasses)
also, if you need images cropped or re-sized, that's super quick and easy for me to do.

Thanks Lucy and Dymphna for the answers! It's good to know when one can use art for roleplay profile pic and when one can't since I have not seen much discussion about it (or I have just missed it). Especially when people seem to favour using art for their profile pictures.


I won't be using the profile picture I wanted since I couldn't find the original artist... Well, seems like I will just have to keep hunting for my profile picture or draw it myself.

I can always help with finding an irl picture if you want, though I understand why you'd rather go digital.
