Dear Eldest Brother,

I would like to formally apologize for writing this letter late. I have been chosen to serve in the Slytherin House as you requested. I will live up to your standards to not bring shame to the Moira family.

Dear Gramma and Granpa,

I really like it here at Hogwarts. Its a nice, big castle with magic and stuff and magical stuff. Please don't worry about me. Your most beloved granddaughter is behaving herself very well. I have yet to find any toads or friends but I'm sure I'll find some soon. I watched some of the upper years play Quidditch the other day and was simply flabbergasted. Maybe I'll try and get into professional Quidditch.

Just kidding, I know I'm not cut out for that kind of thing.

I don't expect a proper reply since you don't have any owls but I'll keep on sending these so you don't worry. I'll try and send longer ones too! Lots of stuff happens but it all flies out of my head when I sit down and write.

I better get proper replies for all my owls when I get home <3

Love,
Lucille

What? No toads? Unacceptable!

Dear Mum,
I don't like it here. I feel so out of place. Everyone here has so much to say, with such expression, but I can't. Aaaand I got told I might need tutoring! I'm so tempted to come back home and finish schooling there. This is nothing like Muirgen said it would. Sure, I thought it was great, but it isn't anymore! I was so stupidly blinded by how big and expensive this place is compared to home, that I didn't realize that no one here likes me. James hasn't talked to me in a while and I think Arceus forgot I exist. Maybe I should go back home. At least I know I will have someone there. How are Missy and Petals anyway? I might go home just to see them again... Yes! I know I haven't even been here a month, but you can get over it. You know I haven't been anywhere without the family for more than three days ever! I can't do  this. I don't get why you sent me away to rot in this  wasteland. I mean, the only class I have made it to was Potions, and then I messed up because I did it by myself instead of with a partner. You know I can't meet new people! Whatever, you and dad don't even try to understand me. Don't even try to write back, I'll just throw it in the fire in the common room.

Hey there, Pete,
Can you believe it? I'm here! And you just got a letter via owl! Like, a real life owl. Sick, right? Ah, Hogwarts is still like a dream. It seems like it was only yesterday I was living my squib life, cooking meals for you and making sure you knew your lessons from our tutor. How's home life now? Happy you have the attic to yourself? Don't let all that freedom get to your head. I still want you to do your chores. And don't touch my stuff, or I'll make your life hell over the breaks. Haha. I love you
I miss you a lot. I don't miss mother. Mother was never nice to me, calling me a squib and all that. I hope she knows I won't miss her. I'm sorry you have to put up with her on your own now. And I sure as hell wished sis wasn't here. She's a fifth(?) year at Hogwarts, and we got sorted into the same house(Slytherin). Talk about awk-ward. She refuses to acknowledge my existence in the common rooms and in the halls, but never hesitates to give me that icy glare we used to get when whenever she came home. I think she thinks I'm treading onto her territory. I'm not sorry that I am. This is my time to shine, right? I can't wait 'till you get here. It'll be a few more years, but it would all be worth it. Trust me. This is a chance at a new life, one without mother and Liliana.

Looking forward to your reply,
Lucy
(Psst: I'm not sure that Hogwarts has a mailing address, so I will send an actual owl your way in two days time. Get your letter ready by then!)

Dear Papa and Dad,

You always told me to be honest with you about how I'm feeling, so I'm going to be: I'm really frustrated with Papa. I know that you didn't teach me much about wizards because you had a lot of bad memories growing up with them. I know you don't speak to your family anymore. I get it. But I feel completely lost. Maybe it's just first day nerves, but I feel like a fish out of water. Or whatever the magical equivalent is. A mermaid out of water?
If you could write me back with anything you remember about wizard culture that would be amazing. I can catch up on what I'm behind on in classes (I hope) but every culture has its own manners and rules... I don't want to mess up, Papa. I want to make friends.
I really miss Google. I wonder if there's magical Google.

PS. Dad, I'm not mad at you at all. This anger's just directed at Papa.

PPS. I'm not TOO mad, Papa. Just a bit mad. You can make it up to me by sending origami paper. All the parchment here is the same colour.

PPPS. I'm keeping an eye out for anyone who might be my cousin. Your last name was Turnbull before you got married, right?

Dear home  Dear mum and dad  Dearest sisters,

Today is my first day at Hogwarts. I'm not sure if our parents ever talked to you about Hogwarts or the wizarding world, but I've decided go to school for magic. That may sound like a load of beetle dung, but it's the truth. Then again, you may already know. I hope you all do. I don't want to be alone in this.

Anyhow, I've started at Hogwarts and, honestly? It's pretty intimidating. There's so many things to do and people to meet and places to be, it's dizzying. I just hope it's better than home...

Are Mercy and Faith recovering from the fever well? I hope the medicine book I sent helped. And remind Serenity to check by the post for the cook books. I'm sure they haven't gotten lost, even after weeks. They'll turn up, I'm sure of it. And I have some new book recommendations for Generosity, but only if she gets back to me about what she thinks of The Bell Jar and the collection of Sappho's poetry I let her borrow. I'm still waiting to check out Homer until we can read it together.

One more thing, though... Please don't tell mother or father that I'm here? Make up something, anything. I don't intend on returning to our childhood home in the summer, so it'll have to make do with that.

I love you all and I miss you. Take care and I'll still write regularly.

Your youngest brother,

Henry Colour

Dear Mum and Dad,

I can barely believe that I'm at Hogwarts myself! It's so different than being home-schooled! I'm not used to so many people around me so I felt nervous and afraid after the Sorting Ceremony was finished. Speaking of which... I'm a HUFFLEPUFF! Dad, I hope you're not feeling too disappointed but I'm not a Slytherin like you hoped I would be. I'll do my best to make you (and mum!) proud of me regardless which House I'm in.

I've already attended several classes such as Charms and Herbology and so far I really enjoy it! The homework I have submitted is not graded yet: I hope that the Professors approve of my essays because I want to do well! I'm not feeling so nervous anymore because I'm in a House where eveeryone considers each other as family and I know that I'll make friends too! I just have to be patient though: I'm not going to force myself on others, that might scare them away!

Even though the year has just begun, I can't wait to come home over the holidays. I miss you both and Matt! How is my little brother doing? Does he miss me? I doubt he even knows I'm gone since he's still a tiny baby after all.

From your son,
Lucas

Dear Father and Mother,

I'm quite aware that you won't receive this letter, instead just ripping it up before reading it, or giving it to the nanny to read. But, I'm still going to write this letter for you.

I am having a fantastic year, so far. I've met quite a lot of students, and I'd like to think they're my friends. The common room in my house is amazing. The fireplace The Great Lake is very visible from the Slytherin common room. Yea, I got into Slytherin. Are you proud?

My grades are doing fine enough. I have O's and E's... However I do happen to have an A in Transfiguration, but I'm working to fix that. Don't worry, I'll be a perfect student.

How are you doing? Have you still been going to parties every weekend - without me, this time? I'm just joking around, don't worry.

            With love,
Rhea Bishop
Rhea knew that she was lying to her parents about what house she was sorted in, but she knew that it was for the best. If her parents EVER got wind that she was in Gryffindor, she had no doubt that they would disown her. Just like her family disowned her Uncle Gaudin, who was the only Bishop so far not sorted into Slytherin so far. Rhea sighed and tied the letter to the leg of a school owl and sent the owl on its way.

the trouble is, if you don't risk anything -- you risk more.

Dear Mama and Baba,

It has been amazing here at Hogwarts. I totally understand why you loved this place. The students, the classes, the professors - it’s all so magical! I’m sorry I haven’t sent you a later until now, but I’ve just been so busy! I have so much to tell you. I bet you’ve been dying to know which house I got into - Ravenclaw! I know, I know, I’m as surprised as you are. I was really hoping I’d get into Gryffindor, even Annalise got in! Yeah, it’s really crazy. Make sure you don’t tell her parents though, she made me promise not to tell anyone from the outside world. It has been really fun in Ravenclaw though, and I’m super excited to be here. I found a dance class, that’s been cool. Oh my gosh, of course! Babushka told me that Dashechka was starting school soon! I’m so frustrated that I won’t be there to see her off on her first day. I know she will do great. Tell her I love her! Well, that’s all! I’ll be back home on Thanksgiving. And Christmas. Owl me back! I love you!

Я вас люблю и скоро увидимся*,
Natasha

Natasha pats her owl’s head, Cubeline, and ties the owl on her leg. «Get this to them safely, пожалуйста**,» she murmurs quietly. Smiling sadly, she sends Cubeline off with the address of her small townhouse. She didn’t tell them about how she hadn’t made any friends, and how her and her best friend had drift apart, especially since Annalise was in Gryffindor, and Natasha was in Ravenclaw. But that’s not important. What’s important is that she focuses on her studies, so she heads out of the Owelry to finish them.

*: I love you both and we will see each other soon.
**: please.

Mae couldn't believe she was going to be late for Defense against the dark arts. She knew for sure that Mr. Mellowrose was going to cut her a new one for being late again. If only she had gotten the letter out sooner, she wouldn't have now what is 15 something minutes late. She was rushing up the stairs and hurriedly fumbled with the door knob. As she opened the door she saw other students as well, but she knew good and well they weren't having the Defense against the dark arts teacher and they were probably going to be let off easy.

Dear Mum and Dad,
Hogwarts is so fun, I have finally settled into my dorm. I miss you guys so much, and I even miss Lizzie. If you miss me, I heard we get to come home for the summer and winter break I believe, so you'll get to see my in no time. I love all my new classes here and most of the teachers are pretty nice, unless you exclude one who shifts between moods. I hope you are having fun back in the real world, and tell Lizzie to stay out of my room I am coming back this Winter.
Love, Mae
P.S. My favorite class is Astronomy turns out the teacher is my head woman for the house.
P.P.S. I hope you are happy for me I got Ravenclaw, A famous Witch named Luna Lovegood was a witch in that house years ago, she fought alongside Harry Potter, I hear he was a wicked famous wizard around here.
