Camp '22 Summer Duelling Funtime Extravaganza, Match: 4

Really, dueling seemed quite simple. Fire spells and avoid getting hit. Simple really. Spells it seemed had a mind of their own and her team mate was unable to dodge an oncoming spell. Callie seemed to be the only one out of the six participating students to even be hit! How Beatrice wasn't sure, but it happened. The young girl bit her lip, hoping that her team mate would be alright. Bea herself didn't know that spell, but she was sure that having your vision obscured sucked. It definitely made Bea's job harder, which was probably the opposing teams' plan. Bea huffed to herself, gearing herself up for the next round. She waited and watched to see what would happen.

In the time before the duel started, Piérre had gently threaded the carnation into the hair behind her left ear and then twisted the garland of violet Campanualas so that they would like out in places underneath her hair, well out of the way of any potential ocular distraction on her behalf.

Spells flew, as did a small joking jibe from Piérre. “Hey! You ever tried taking up blind dueling? You don't know what you're missing! Obscuro! The silky blindfold flew from Piérre towards one of the foreigners. However, his aim was a little off, and the cloth harmlessly unravelled off to the duelist's side and not over the eyes like Piérre had wanted. It was his first ever spell in a duel... He deserved a break for a first-timer, didn't he?

“Oh... Well... Who could have seen that coming?” He emphasized the pun greatly, trying to both keep his and his ally's spirits high.

Already he was beginning to incant his next spell, perpetually in motion and ever on his feet to act and react.

Meanwhile, it seemed the other foreign student had responded with surprise at Piérre's shoutout. “NO SWEARING!
THAT'S BAD!”
Piérre exclaimed in a singing voice.

In the corner of his eye, Piérre spotted Figaro in the stands, the little streak of silver having found a friend in another pale student Valetin Schnell (@Aida Mórsgor-Ama Ellwood). The Bengal had noted the small alluring motions of the albino, and had ventured close with light curiosity before hesitating for only a heartbeat and then leaping into the boy's lap, no doubt purring enough to bring down a barn.

With the flick of a wand, the duel began. Immediately, spells began to dart everywhere, leaving Everly winded. Thankfully, none went towards her, and if they did, Everly had been on alert for them. One of the duelists on the foreign team sent a Ventus towards Jensen, who avoided it easily; the other, a miniature explosion of sparks to the ground. It made for a rather nice party trick, though.

Her partner would match her choice of spell, sending out dual Obscuros toward the opposing teams. Everly's managed to hit, she noted as the cloth wrapped itself satisfyingly around the Ravenclaw's head, but Pierre's hadn't. Meanwhile, Jensen cast a rather painful Ventus that did more harm to herself than anyone else. Langstreth... Langstreth hadn't done anything.

With a quick exhale, Everly examined the damage. The first round hadn't gone as poorly as she was dreading it to go. Perhaps an additional team wouldn't be too harrying.

Miraculously, the flowers were still intact.

The replacement moderator couldn't help but think—as he watched the next set of spells fly by—that Slytherin (and by association, his inspiration: Dmitri) was very misunderstood.

These other students were just as savagely opportunistic, if not more!

What else would you call kicking someone while they are down?

Three different duelists took aim at poor Callie, and boy did they not miss. Dylan with his aggressively blazing Incendio Duo, Pierre with his raging Ventus, and Everly's quick and precise Flipendo; all three connected in a shower of flame and sparks. The hapless Ravenclaw staggered under the influence of the different offensive spells, unable to move, and the moderator couldn't help but wince.

On one side, Felix seemed to be making a show out of how many times he can miss with his Incendio Duo. At the moment, he would be able to boast about two failures.

Beatrice on the other hand, took care of the blindfold snaking around Callie's head, careful not to get burnt, herself, by the fire that was slowly eating at her ally's clothes.

Overall, things weren't looking quite good for the Ravenclaws.

Dylan smiled as his spell hit the target. He couldn't be happier about it. This was a game, so well someone would lose and someone would win. It was a matter of luck who was going to win or lose. He just hoped that he and his partner were not on the loosing side.

This was going horribly. Bea had thought the other teams would target her, since she was the newest and youngest duelist. But no, They had targeted Callie. Just great. Bea was in a bit of a panic. With all the spells flying and going towards Callie, she set about removing the blindfold to help her partner in the next round.

Maybe Callie needed to rethink her whole lucky charm collection. Or maybe she needed to consider making some kind of sacrifice to whatever almighty power put her in this situation to begin with. Then again the poor girl was used to things going pear shaped in her duels…but she wasn’t used to being abused to this scale all at once. It was…overwhelming to say the least.

“Any way the wind blows, doesn't really matter to meeeeee! Tooo meeeeee! Ventus!” Piérre trilled out as a burst of wind swirled across the terrain and over the older Ravenclaw student. Of the three attacks, Piérre couldn't help but notice that his strike had been the least harmful. Even as he saw the Ravenclaw battered and beaten by a painful Flipendo and a powerful Incendio by his partner (which had seemed a perfect hit, though the kid didn't know if it was due to his laid back energy fueled by mild adrenaline or because of something else entirely), Piérre winced at the idea of being subjected to the same attacks. He had been lucky so far, but he didn't know for how much longer his luck would last.

Readying his next move, Piérre noted a spell whizz by Everly. “Nice dodge, buddy!
Told ya that the carnation is good luck!”
he grinned happily.

Round two went off with a bang, and quite literally. Everly’s Flipendo met two other spells at their target, and she felt a short stab of sympathy for the Ravenclaw. That must’ve hurt.

A spell would fly towards her, the first in this duel. She managed to sidestep it rather easily, thankfully. With a short breath and a nod of acknowledgement, Everly readjusted her grip again, readying herself for the next round, whatever it would bring.
