Really? They open with that? Hadashi didn't know it was duelist amateur hour here. Starting off with weather modifiers was such a base move, so pathetic.
Well, whatever. This was hardly something Hadashi wasn't used to. He just felt like actual duelists should have more class than a weather modifying charm right out of the gate.
He sighed and began to cast his next spell.

Each team hard started out strong in this duel, come out swinging-- or in the case of several, fogging, apparently. A thick coat of fog covered the field where Amaury stood, obscuring his vision and leaving his targets a hazy blur. Oh well, at least the explicit targeting of his team proved that they appeared to be a threat to the other teams. Even as his well-placed spells flew wide in the face of some fancy evading, the Hogwarts students dressed in blue seemed to be reeling from some damage taken.

This round proved to be much less successful for many of the duellists. All of those who had attempted to spell spread last round had restrained this round to keep their wits about them and not burn out. The battlefield was still coated in thick layers of fog, obscuring much of the vision of the battle. Not much too watch, but the lights that came within made a colorful lightning storm. Hadashi attempted to dispel some of the fog, but his wand didn't produce any change. Greta spotted Lamik as a threat and wanted to slow him down, but the boy who could see through the fog dodged easily. Amaury went for the same attack with a wind jinx, but one again the slippery Gryffindor escaped attacks.
Meenauh seemed to be on edge, preparing herself to dodge any spell. It did work, Thomas still gunning for his last target. But with the preparation he stood no chance. Lamik casted a most stunning wind jinx, it splitting flawlessly and heading towards Amaury and Aida. While it was beautiful, both missed. Sometimes less is more, you know? But Vague Duelling Mod McGee couldn't help but awe at the beauty of it. Alan set his eyes on the vulnerable Ravenclaw's, a desire within him rising to rain on their parade. An ominous cloud set over the heads of the Ravenclaw's, leaving them to worry about being struck at any moment.
Delilah prepared for the worst, casting a shield charm of her own. For better or for worse, she didn't need it and it went unused. Aida was determined to knock Amaury down a peg as everyone else seemed keen to do, and was the only spell to actually hit a person. Amaury would be left a tad dizzy and sore in the chest after the gust of wind. Hopefully the next round would be more eventful than this one.

Aida, simply happy to be on a new piste and with a swirling new environment full of international spectators and hype, breathed in fresh air and yeeted a wind jinx precisely at Amaury. All those days chained to the Hogwarts duelling piste would not be for nothing. Quickly finishing their task, Aida returned to watching the Durmstrang girl and wondering what that mysterious owl from Valentin was all about. Something about immortality? What on Earth was he thinking?
Doing as strategized.

───•─•────────────────────────────────────•─•───This was not going to plan. At all. Every time Greta attempted to cast, her spells seem to reach nothing but an impenetrable wall or would be cats off and redirected. Nothing. That was all the effect she had managed to have thus far. Nothing. Fingers gripped all the tighter around her wand, brows pinching. More than once, she would find her gaze darting to the audience, seeking comfort from those seated there, perhaps hoping to draw strength from the confidence those faces she sought always seemed to exude. But she wouldn't find them. Heart plummeting, she would be left to glance to her teammates. A sign.. of anything. A strategy. A plan to effect some sort of action. Like the grains of sand trickling away as the match went on, Greta's confidence was gradually waning. But she couldn't--wouldn't--give up yet. If she was ever going to earn the eye and respect of those whose approval she sought.. she would have to prove herself.

Whoosh! and another spell went past her as she shifted to the side. She looked at Thomas and stuck out her tongue at him, teasing him to dare another spell on her.
After the spectacular start, successful hits decreased noticeably. It wasn't like everyone got tired, just when you spend energy on something explosive, you have a bit less energy afterwards.
She kept her stare on Thomas, expecting another spell sent her way, but tried to have a better overview through the weakening fog. Just to be ready, you know.

Amaury Favreau
Another round of spells slung, another miss from poor Amaury. This was really going to bruise the kid's ego. Not to mention the added humiliation of being actually hit by a spell from one of those Hogwarts losers. And with his own spell, the one he had just used? Those damn students. That they would have the audacity, the presumptuousness, to do such a thing? Unacceptable. Simply unacceptable. And what was with all this goddamn fog?

Un. Believable. How in the world did the spell fail? Hadashi was sure he did everything right. He had prepared extensively for this.
He decided that this must be either a horrible fluke or sabotage. Since it was inconceivable that someone could have sabotaged his wand without him knowing, he chalked it up to a fluke, and prepared his next spell.

Alan was excited when his spell was a success. He watched as a huge cloud formed over the heads of the Ravenclaw students, sizzling with energy and ready to strike them with a bit of lightning at any time. He himself was holding up well and so were Lamik and Meenauh and the soon to be sixth year truly hoped that it would remain like that.

Lamik wondered briefly about what in the world was going on in the heads of the duel organizers when they decided to set up the match this way. His brain was very nearly short circuiting, what with the ludicrous amounts of spells being flung back and forth. Maybe that was why he missed, even with a perfectly casted spell.
