Wyatt knew he'd taken some damage, but he wasn't ready to stop yet. Taking a quick glance around, he noticed that him and his teammates were doing alright for themselves so far. Good, he thought. Makes it easier to keep going. Wyatt focused on what was in front of him, carrying on despite his injuries.

All the racers from both teams still remained largely close together, something she noticed tended to change as the race went on, most people wanted to get going with a fast start, Scarlet of course being one of them.

She soon spotted the first obstacle, Bundimun, something she was sure she wouldn’t have been quite so familiar with if she hadn’t done broom racing, and she was reminded of it’s nasty habit of projecting acid at anything nearby, despite trying her best to avoid it.

A couple more tight squeezes landed Scarlet with an added scrape or two, but it was the lasting pain from the magical creature’s acid that continued to burn, between the their obstructions in the race she tried to quickly wipe away any large amounts of the green stuff but didn’t want to take her focus off the path ahead for any large amount of time, she’d just have to push through the pain.

MODERATION ROUND 2

Thus the race continued, although it was clear to any watching that more than a few of those hailing for the allegedly nerdier houses were somewhat beleaguered by the acid that had plagued them. The bundimun had taken its toll, and with the coming whomping willow, more than a few racers opted to reduce their speed over the relatively clear straight, using the opportunity to gather brief respite before they would take on the coming dangers. Of course, such plans for respite meant nothing to the wild wolf boy who had fallen behind, and Colin McCoire shot forward with renewed vigour.

Unit 6

Easy Passage

Ahead, the racers would slow, some readying their wands as if preparing to cast. Only a few would keep onwards, three birds and a single snake, braving the thorns and vines that lay before the whomping willow. However, after being torn by the thorns, it was only Percival and Harper that continued onto the vines. Alas, both racers would soon find themselves tangled and unable to escape. Perhaps a few more days in the gym would have done them well, unfortunately, Hogwarts has no such facilities.

But another crafty young witch had elected to cast another spell. Percival Gray may have thought his luck had hit an all-time low when he was tangled by the vines (excepting that time his girlfriend was turned into a nascent hag), but surely the flipendo cast at him by Bloom Silverton was worse. Fortunately, he was sent flying back from the vines that had trapped him. Unfortunately, he now found himself being ripped apart by the thorns he'd narrowly avoided. Moreover, he was no longer in the need.

Adrenaline was kicking in now. Although Bloom could feel that she was slowly getting weak from the blast, she was determined to keep going and get herself, and her team, to the finish line. As she kept going, she noticed that Percival, the Gryffindor Broom Racer, was coming at a close. Bloom, took out her wand and cast filpendo on the Gryffindor who flew back into the thorns. It was now Harper who was in the lead, which was the best considering that Clair and Hunter were just behind her.

Bloom held onto her broom tighter and continued to steady her speed, getting herself ready for whatever was coming.

Hunter's eyes darted increasingly fast to every corner of his sight he could find. It was difficult trying to concentrate with a mind like his, always being paranoid and distrusting of those around him. The pain of the acid burned even more, and he felt a jolt of shock as his eyes locked onto Scarlet. All the snakes surrounding him were making him feel off-put and shaken, and the sight of one of them right next to him made his hand quiver fiercely on his broom. He tried to concentrate, but he couldn't. He could feel the fear and paranoia he set aside begin to loom over him like a dark shadow. It clutched itself around his mind and blinded his site from the oncoming thorns. He couldn't help but get scratches all over his body, and the bundimum acid seeping into the cuts only made him grit his teeth out of frustration towards himself. His eyes surveyed once more, taking note of Clair and the now trapped Harper looking worse for wear.

Retrieving his beloved wand from the pocket of his hoodie, Ari cast the spell to take away the acid eating through to him. It was gone now. There was still a slight pain from where it had begun to touch his skin, but he was spared. Now he could focus all of his attention on surviving this grueling course.

Wyatt knew how much blood he was losing. He worried about the rest of the race, realizing how it was going and what that meant for later. It didn't seem like he'd stop losing blood any time soon. Still, he pushed on. He wouldn't let his whole team down by freaking out about some blood loss. Wyatt noticed Percival, who was a bit farther ahead than him, and smirked.

Percival was flying ahead of the rest of his team, almost getting caught up in the thorns and bushes that were in his wake. He needed to keep going, and so he did. He thought he was past the thorns until he got caught up in the vines. Gray wiggled and tried to get out of its grasp on his broom, but he didn't need to do that at all. Bloom forced him back into the thorns with a spell and cut him up quite badly. That was one more thing to worry about...
