Spilt Galleons and an New Friend PV Guinevere Russetwood Finished!

I had just came out of the vaults, where I had gotten a few galleons, around eleven or so, to pay for my school supplies. As usual, I had come alone, as usual my parents stayed at the Leaky Cauldron. As I stood in the middle of the room, I counted my coins to see if I had enough to get a bengal cat or owl, but no, I was a few sickles short. Sighing, I placed my coins back in my velvet pouch.
Making for the exit, I saw a brown-haired girl walk down the steps besides me, reading a letter (could it be an acceptance letter to Hogwarts? thought I), and promptly fell.
Coins fell out of her grasp, and so did her glasses and that fateful letter she was reading. I made a mental note to never read while walking again. I then deleted that note because of course I wouldn’t listen to myself.
It’s a nice day to be a helpful person, I thought, and so I bent over and scooped up the fallen galleons. I heard a panicked ‘Hey!’ and turned around to hand the coins over to the other girl.
“Here are your coins, mystery person,” I said. “What’s your name? I’m Guinevere, Guinevere Russetwood. That must’ve been a hard fall, are you okay?”

Once the girl gave me my galleons, I took a few deep breaths, collected my self and began to speak.
"Yeah, I'm ok. My name is Cara Smalley. Are you here for your Hogwarts school supplies too?" I asked. It was kind of a long shot, and it was kind of early to be buying school supplies, but I like to buy mine early. She also was alone, so that meant she was most likely not a first year. We carefully walked down the rest of the stairs, I looked around for a bench. I spotted one. We quickly began walking to it so I could stuff my galleons back in my bag. I sat down and began stuffing things back in my bag.
"It's my second year at Hogwarts." I said trying to fill the silence. I continued organizing my galleons back in to my bag, and unfolded my letter. I set my bag of coins on to so I wouldn't blow away. Then I pulled out my wand and put it back in. I finished organized my stuff in to my bag. We were sitting at the bottom of Gringotts, and it was a very busy day at Diagon Alley. I noticed many first year students buying supplies, and I noticed lots of people looking at brooms. Personally I’m afraid to fly. I just don’t like heights. I then returned my attention back to Guinevere.

"Yeah, I'm ok. My name is Cara Smalley. Are you here for your Hogwarts school supplies too?" Cara asked.
"I am, actually! I'm getting new robes later, and a few new quills and sheets of parchment. It's not technically back to school shopping, I'm just here for a small trip, later I might go to the pet store thing to see if one of their cats will be within budget," I said. We walked down the steps and found a bench to sit on. Cara started to shove her galleons into her bag.
"It's my second year at Hogwarts," said Cara, seemingly trying to kill the awkward silence.
"It's mine, too," I said. "I'm a Slytherin, what's your house?" I peered at the other girl's face for a bit. "Now that I think about it, I think I might've seen you around campus sometime last year," I said. "Have I?" I said it more like a question to myself than to her; of course she wouldn't know if a random Slytherin saw her. I wouldn't either. I turned and saw Cara looking at the brooms in the window of a supplies shop. I personally wasn't that much of a quidditch fan; I found it fun to play, but I would rather spend my time doing something else.

Oh my gosh! Me too!
“I’m getting my books, quill, parchment and some new inks. I also want to get enough money for a cat, but I’m not there yet. I’d be happy to go shopping with you! If uhhh that’s ok…” I said. I finished shoving my stuff in my bag. “Oh my gosh I’m a Hufflepuff!” I exclaimed. “Not sure if I’ve seen you before… but anyway do you want to head over to some shops!” we walked over to the nearest shop, the broom shop, we continued walked to the stationary shop. We went in and began looking at the quills. I grabbed the peacock quill and admired it. I looked at some other quills and decided on the peacock quill. I noticed Guinevere looking at other quills and I began looking at some of the quill helpers. There were quick write quills, empty ink bottles to store you quills in, and much more random items. I then decided to look at the inks. I had always just gotten black but then one year I got some color changing ink honestly kind of liked it and actually used it. Then I grabbed some black, dark blue, and gray inks. I also grabbed one bottle of color changing ink for my best friend Athena. Then I began looking at the parchment. To me they all look the same, so I just grabbed a entire roll of parchment. I paid and waited for Guinevere.

"That would be great!" I said with a smile. We stood up and passed the quidditch supplies shop, where I paused for a second to take a look at the broom model in the window. Then, we came across a stationary shop, where we made a beeline for the quills section. The sleek raven feathers imediately caught my eye, so I picked one up to look at it more closely. It had an interesting design on the nib, and I saw the price too; not to expensive, for such a good quill! I looked besides me, and found that Cara had a few dark-colored inks and a peacock quill in hand. Then, we made for the parchment section, where I found it surprising that people would categorize parchment; parchment, of all things! To me, they were all the same. I took a random roll of it off the shelves, and stuffed it under my arm carefully like I did with every other roll of parchment.
"Shall we go check out now?" I asked Cara. "That quill you got is really good. I have one; it writes really smoothly."
I placed my items on the counter and dug through my pouch for the galleons I had gotten earlier.

“Shall we go to Florish and Blotts?” I asked. We walked over. I went inside, grabbed all the required second year books and began looking around.
The book store is my favorite place in Diagon Alley. My parents are always buying books for me, so I saw many books we already had at home. My mum likes to read cookbooks for fun. Very weird. I always make fun of her, but she gets really good ideas from them.
I went over to the cook book area. I saw a magical baking book that looked really cool, and I was going to get it, but I found a book titled Jinxes for the Jinxed. I wrote down those two and a few other books that I might want, usually I get them for Christmas. I didn’t get a book because I decided to get ice cream instead of a book. I paid and sat outside, and opened my book. It was some of my leftover homework that I didn’t complete at camp. I regret not staying up late doing it all, like my friend Athena. She told me that she spent hours doing it all in less than three days. Me on the other hand thought it was a good idea to do it at camp, but I didn’t want to risk being caught by the muggles. It was easy for me to read the passages, since my books were disguised like muggle books, but the writing part was hard. The one thing I didn’t want to do was not finish it at all.

We went around to Florish and Blotts, where Cara went to the cooking section and flipped a book and put it down, deciding not to buy. I, meanwhile, walked to the poetry section and took out a book of poetry that I thought would be inspiring to read and learn from, since I was considering learning how to write poetry. I went outside with Cara, letting the cashier know that I was returning the book later first, where she opened a thick book.
"What is that?" I asked, leaning forwards to see. "Oh, homework? I did mine during summer camp. Didn't want to spend time before that doing work."
I took out my new book and flipped to the first poem. It was a long one, taking up around a page, but I liked these kinds of long poetry, so I didn't mind. The author had used really interesting words for it, and the topic of it was also quite interesting.
After a while, after I had returned the book, I said, "Sorry, but I think I have to go soon. My parent will be waiting. See you... when? I wanted to meet up with Cara again, since she seemed like a nice person, and it wouldn't hurt to have friends in a different house."

I looked up and saw that Genevieve was sitting down at the table, across from me. She had a book in her hands.
“Yeah. I went to a muggle camp and decided to do it after but that was a big mistake. I’ve just been so busy…” I began reading a large text and taking notes. We sat like this for a while, reading and writing.
It was nice to have a friend to shop with, that was something I’d never had before. Athena always had to shop with her parents, who were strict. I had asked my parents to shop with me my first year, but they had refused this year. They told me to have fun, get some shopping done, and meet them at the ice cream shop at 3:00 in the afternoon. I had just assumed that I was going to do all of my shopping alone, but this was… nice. I had someone to talk to and ask if I should buy what ever I was pondering on.
I looked up from my homework and saw that Guinevere was reading a book on poetry. She likes poetry! I thought. poetry has never really interested me but I think it’s cool. Then Guinevere told me she had to go.
“Ok, I probably should find my parents anyway, I hope to see you some other time, maybe around Hogwarts!”
