A search for galleons (and maybe friends)
Finn's planned shopping day was today, he and his aunt were both equally excited to begin their hunt for his school supplies but first they'd needed to make a stop at Gringotts. Finn hummed a quiet tune as he sat on a chair while his aunt was getting the needed items and currency. He was told to wait.
And so he waited, for what felt for a long time. He looked around, scanning the walls and floors for anything. The goblins worked away, slipping to open vaults or whatever else it is they do. Tapping his feet and thrumming his fingers was the only distraction he had, otherwise he got bored and then he feared he would wither away.
The walls were a pretty color, not dull yet not jumping out. The sounds of the goblins working were pleasant and the entire area had a sort of stale smell to it. Finn didn't go here often and usually saw new things each time. He hadn't noticed parts of the wall that looked like a dog, but now he did.
He continued to hum, simply studying the walls of the wizarding bank. He stopped fidgiting his hands and propped his elbows on his knees and his chin on his palms.

Nico stood in the shadow as far as he could. There was a sparkly-looking boy sitting across the room.
Sparkly.
Nico avoided people who sparkle, shimmer, shine, laugh, glow, live, breathe, and exist. "But Mom said to be 'social' if I see anyone my age. Do I have to talk to the sparkly boy...?" He took a deep breath, took a step, and then quit. "I'll just stay here..."
Several minutes passed by with Nico in deep contemplation. Maybe he should, maybe he shouldn't, maybe he could just go back outside and wait for his mom. No, she would think he ran away or got lost. Nico considered his options, shifting his weight from one foot to another. Then he finally decided he would talk to the sparkly boy, even if he was sparkling from the light of the chandelier. Making him look like a walking flashlight.
Nico took a deep breath and began walking over to the sparkly boy, warning signs flashing in his mind. About halfway there, Nico stepped on his shoelace and fell, causing his rings and necklace to make a bunch of clinking noises as he hit the ground.
"Why.....?" he whispered to himself angrily. The sparkly boy had seen and heard him fall obviously and was looking at him.
"Greatttt..."
He stood up, and awkwardly said, "Hi, I'm uh Nico..."

Bellatrix walked into Gringotts and looked around the place with wonder; she had heard many things about Gringotts but it was even more magnificent than she had expected. As she walked through the doors she stopped and read the famous rhyme:
"Enter, stranger, but take heed
Of what awaits the sin of greed
For those who take, but do not earn,
Must pay most dearly in their turn.
So if you seek beneath our floors
A treasure that was never yours,
Thief, you have been warned, beware
Of finding more than treasure there."
She shivered in terror, imagining what would happen to thieves. Her mum had dropped her off outside and given her instructions on where to find her money. When she looked around, she could only see two people her age, both boys. 'Well,' she thought with a slight grin 'at least there is someone to talk to!' she decided that first, she would go and collec her money. When she returned from her trip, she was looking a bit green as it was her first time on the rickety, fast carts at Gringotts. Shaking a bit, she wobbled her way over to the boys she had spotted earlier when she walked in. "Hello!" She said cheerfully, "My name's Bellatrix, Bellatrix Rosewood. Nice to meet you. What are your names?"

@Bellatrix RosewoodNico turned around at the sound of a girl's voice. "Bellatrix? Like the deatheater?"
Nico looked her over, she was taller than Nico, with red hair and green eyes, a rather rare complexation. Socializing was a trap, he only meant to talk to one person, but now there were two. "Maybe she didn't see me fall... Maybe I won't be mortally embarrassed."
Nico stood there a moment, fiddling with his rings, he didn't look like someone that anyone would want to be around. With his black hair, dark clothes, and skeletal-looking hands, he looked like someone who just walked out of the grave.
"I'm Nico, Nico Cirillo. Your name is... Bellatrix?" He paused, unsure to continue.
"Like the deatheater?" Regretting he said that, Nico avoided her eyes, hoping he hadn't just made things even more awkward than they already were.
"Uh... sorry- That's not exactly what you should say when you first meet someone," he muttered.
"I'm such an idiot, why did I say that?! Wow, Nico, you did SOOO great there... This is why you don't talk to people..."
He stood there, for what seemed like hours, but was really only seconds. He smiled awkwardly and glanced around at the goblins, consumed in their work.

Finn kept humming random tunes which appeared in his head. He looked around the building, he didn't see anyone at first. The only other beings were the goblins, at least from what he could tell.
Though he was certain he'd been practically alone in the building, suddenly his eyes caught on a figure. The boy was quite pretty if he'd admit it. He seemed to begin walking toward something, what it was, Finn didn't even attempt to figure out.
When the boy tripped, a gasp of concern unintentionally left Finn's throat, he resisted running to make sure he was okay. He felt as if he had to physically restrain himself, the feeling of being held down but except he was being held down by himself.
While he was down, he seemed to whisper something that Finn couldn't hear, perhaps to himself. The pretty-boy awkwardly stood and he spoke. "Hi, I'm uh Nico..." he began to trail off.
Finn opened his mouth to speak but stopped as a girl approached. His eyes fluttered to her, pretty girl? Why was everyone so pretty here?
"My name's Bellatrix, Bellatrix Rosewood. Nice to meet you. What are your names?" she introduced herself and Finn gazed at her in awe.
"I'm Nico, Nico Cirillo. Your name is... Bellatrix?" he paused, seeming a bit off. "Like the deatheater?" he immediately seemed to regret that, he muttered out: "Uh... sorry- That's not exactly what you should say when you first meet someone,"
Finn giggled quietly at the seemingly ramble-y boy. "I for one think Bellatrix is a beautiful name, and the Death Eater was certainly quite interesting." he grinned. "Finn Taylor." his grin grew only slightly, and he took in the two strangers. "Though I suppose Finn works fine alone, saying my full name would be a bit odd." Finn decided, even if he was terrified of talking to people, he wouldn't exactly let said people know.
This is simply so I don't lose the colors.

@Finn TaylorFinn Taylor.
Sparkly boy, sparkly name.
"He smiles too much, smiling shows weakness. People are weak. Do I have to smile?! yay..."
The sparkly boy- no, Finn, spoke quickly and stiffly, with a weak attempt to sound casual. Nico figured that he was probably not very social, and much like himself wasn't very comfortable talking to people. A similarity, small, but it still counts.
Unconsciously, Nico spun his ring around his finger, shining as the light hit it. It caught the eye of one of the working goblins. Noticing this, Nico covered the ring with his hand and gave the goblin an uneasy glare. Goblins always made Nico feel cautious. They were intelligent, cunning, and had no fear of wizards. Nico felt exposed and nervous standing in the middle of a building full of goblins.
Looking back to the spar- Finn, Nico noticed that he was actually quite sparkly, in a rather attractive way. "Uh, no. Sparkly is NOT attractive. No, it is repulsive. Not pretty."
He smiled a bit, flashing his unnaturally straight teeth, and ghostly smile. To break the moment's silence he said, "So um, are you two going into your first year at Hogwarts too? What house do you think you'll end up in?"

While Finn wasn't always observant, it was an unconsious thing he did; taking in the actions of those surrounding him. He noticed Nico's fidgeting and the rings on his hands. He also noticed his hands, hands that were very pretty; they'd be nice to paint, or maybe draw.
Nico seemed to be a bit deep in thought. He seemed nervous as he covered his rings. Then he smiled. Finn wasn't one to smile, he'd grin or smirk. He never saw others smile, couldn't remember the last time he saw his parents. Aunt was usually too stressed, Richard smiled though; big, goofy smiles that were more than contagious. When he saw Nico smiled, he knew it wasn't likely to be totally real, but it was pretty and heartwarming at the least.
"So um, are you two going into your first year at Hogwarts too? What house do you think you'll end up in?" Nico said, breaking the thick silence.
"Not sure, I've studied each a bit. Aunt Kory says she thinks I'll be in Ravenclaw, though I'm a 'jack-of-all-trades'; her dad thinks I'll be Gryffindor, like him. I wouldn't say I've got a preference, my grandmother seems to think she knows exactly which house but she won't tell me." he chuckled a bit. Kimlin didn't go to Hogwarts, being a full-blooded Veela and all. Even so, she and Finn read a lot of the Hogwarts history books and she seems to have her mind set on one particular house.

@Finn Taylor"Why is this boy so sparkly? Did he take an extra dose of glitter or something?!"
Nico's whole family has always been in Slytherin, except for his disowned great-uncle Steve, who was a Hufflepuff. He worried that if he was sorted into the wrong house, his family would disown him as well. He knew that he would be sorted into Slytherin, but still, he wondered.
"I'm hoping for Slytherin. My family has always been Slytherin and Pure-Blood, except for my great-uncle Steve, who married a muggle and was Hufflepuff."
The "jack of all trades" reference made Nico wince painfully. His father, before he died, was obsessed with Greek Mythology and Ancient Greece, his favorite god being Hermes, the original jack of all trades.
"It's like everywhere I go, I'm reminded that he's dead and always will be..."
Nico looked around and saw that it was not just one goblin now staring at his ring, but three. It clearly had been passed around, and never returned to goblins. He took a step back and slid his ring off and into his pocket, or at least he tried to. It fell onto the floor with a noisy clink. The three goblins looked at him with great distaste as he bent down and put it inside his pocket.
Muttering to himself, he said, "Don't ever turn your back on a goblin..."

"I'm hoping for Slytherin. My family has always been Slytherin and Pure-Blood, except for my great-uncle Steve, who married a muggle and was Hufflepuff." Nico said, wincing painfully only a second later. Finn flinched slightly, a pure-blood Slytherin family; oh what prejudice beliefs could this boy have been brought up in? Finn's head tilted as he finally registered the wince, he took in the other boy's state. Was he hurt? Did Finn say something?
Nico slid a ring off of his finger, seemingly attempting to store it in his pocket before it slipped to the floor; Finn followed his gaze to the goblins and his calm and carefree stature faltered. Did Nico dislike non-humans..? Finn took a breath.
Nico slipped the ring into his pocket. "Don't ever turn your back on a goblin..." Nico seemed to mutter to himself, Finn likely wouldn't have heard it if not for the deafening silence of the wizarding bank.
Finn froze, his grin fell and his features hardened into a neutral tone. His lips pressed into a fine line and he couldn't help but defend the goblins. "I'd be careful what you say around others." he started, hesitating only slightly before continuing. "You'd never know what half-breeds lurk around, you might get into more trouble than you can handle." he warned, uncaring of the ominous undertones. He seemed to block out all emotion, though hints of offense, fear, and anger flickered across his face. "Especially in Hogwarts, where you could very well anger a seventh year half-goblin."

@Finn TaylorThe look on Finn's face was grim. Nico didn't quite understand why, but he had some suspicions. Perhaps he was keen on goblins, or maybe he was a half-breed of some sort. Nico didn't particularly care though, goblins had set their reputation with Nico, and it wasn't very good.
When Nico was eight, his grandfather told him of the long, dark, and bloody history of goblins and wizards. His family has always been a family of Pure-bloods who looked down on everyone else, Half-breeds, Muggles, Half-bloods, non-humans, and especially Muggle-borns. Nico didn't care much about any of that, but goblins bothered him for some reason.
He wanted to explain it, but because they were surrounded by goblins, all he muttered was, "I can't talk about it, especially here. Just don't be mad." He paused, thinking about what to say next, and then decided on, "I don't anything against half-breeds, it's just... I can't say anything here, or they will hear."
"Well, maybe now feelings and deeper conversations can maybe be avoided... Yeah right. This kid is definitely a half-breed and probably hates my guts right now. If Finn finds my company worthy later, then maybe I can attempt to explain why goblins unnerve me, and how I was mortally traumatized when I was eight. Yeah... That'll be a very pleasant topic."
