I Came, I Saw, I Fell Outta a Tree
@Samantha Salwis
It didn't take a genius to put 2 and 2 together.
It seemed feather brains’ dad had decided to make an appearance at the worst moment ever! How long had he been there? How much had he seen? Elsian plucked at a leaf in his hair, combing the strands roughly between his fingers and sending the green nuisances fluttering to his lap and the grassy ground beneath them.
Had he seen the fal-
Oh how embarrassing.
So he'd seen…everything at the end basically.
Pointedly he stared at Salwis as she spoke, hiding the annoyed look behind messy hair. He didn't really want to agree with her, let alone play along, but how much trouble would they be in if they came clean about what had been really going on? Would her parents try to have a talk with his? That could not happen. No way! What if he got grounded? Summer had just started! He’d rather fake being nice in front of the girl's dad.
“Nothing.” he agreed. “We just…chose a bad tree to climb.”
He avoided catching Samantha's or her dad's gaze between their conversation. He focused on brushing away the hair in his face, the dirt on his pants, the twigs he was likely missing when smoothing out his hair, anything to ignore the embarrassed flush trying to climb up his neck. It was mortifying somehow, knowing the parent of the school mate he had a mutual hate for had seen the whole thing. His ears burned; and resolutely he stared at the scuffs on his shoes until the heat faded.
Perfectly timed, he wouldn't have to suffer through the shame of feather brain seeing his blush when he looked up. Nails digging into his palms he fought down the urge to blush as he looked up, shrugging. “I’m fine,” he lied politely.
In reality he still felt a little dizzy, a little sore, but he wasn't about to complain in front of this guy. Not when feathers for brains was sitting right there.
Elsi only hesitated for a second, blinking at the hand before quickly taking it. Probably for the best. He’d immediately almost tripped when his head swam before finally focusing; he’d likely have fallen right back on his ass without the help. “Thanks,” he said, offering a small smile as he let go. He seemed nice. Way better than the bird brain. The moment the adult had looked away though, unable to see the Gryffindors expression, he’d aimed a pinched look of annoyance at the girl, rolling his eyes at her disgusted look. He quickly smoothed his face into one of neutral politeness when her dad had looked back at him however.
Now would probably be a good time to make an exit. But first; he looked around before finally finding it, scooping up the basketball and shoving it forward towards the idiot's hands. “Here.”

I Came, I Saw, I Fell Outta a Tree
Samantha sighed in relief when Elsian agreed with her and told her dad it was nothing, knowing she had dodged a bullet there. If the idiot hadn't played along, she would have needed to explain that they had been arguing during the climb, which would lead to her having to explain why she disliked him. Her original reason for disliking the boy had to do with his stupid bloodthirsty pet and the brunette hadn't exactly explained how terrified she was of spiders to her parents. They knew about the attack of the shadow spiders but she toned the horrors of the event as she was afraid she wouldn't be allowed to return to Hogwarts.
After Elsian told her father he was fine and Samantha's father helped the boy get up, spider boy thanked her dad. "No problem, kid." he told Elsian before turning away from the two children. The young girl was too distracted by the look the idiot gave her to notice her dad picking up the two bowls of ice cream he had previously put down. Right before her dad turned his attention back to the two kids, the brunette gave Elsian a dirty look back. She quickly followed the Gryffindors example and straightened her face just in time.
"Well, if you are fine, I guess you don't need any ice cream to make you feel better," her dad said to Elsian, showing the two bowls containing the chocolate ice. Her dad hadn't even finished his sentence before Samantha quickly took a step towards him, well the ice cream. "You got us ice cream?" the girl asked happily surprised. With us, she meant her and her father, not her and Elsian. "Yeah, one for you and the other for your friend here," he answered proudly. Wand thief her friend? Never! Her dad either didn't notice the disgusted look on her face or he simply chose to ignore it, as he didn't say anything about it. Instead, he took a step in the boy's direction and extended his arm to give the bowl to him. "I hope you like ice cream."

Jealous that Elsian was getting attention from her dad and ice cream, she glared at the two before snatching the bowl with the most ice cream out of her dad's hand. At least she was getting more chocolate ice than the stupid boy. Extremely grumpy, she walked away from her dad and Elsian and sat down on a bench near them, now watching them from a distance. Still shoeless, her feet dangle under her as she took a bite from the ice cream. The young girl couldn't stay angry while eating chocolate ice in such nice weather and a little satisfied smile appeared on her face when the ice melted on her tongue.
Meanwhile, her father was still standing next to Elsian but it didn't take long before he suggested joining Samantha on the bench. "What do you say about following my grumpy kid and eating your ice cream on the bench?" Samuel said before slowly walking towards her. If his daughter had heard the comment about his 'grumpy kid', her head would have turned as red as a tomato. "So, where do you two know each other from?" her dad asked the boy, trying to make a bit of small talk.

I Came, I Saw, I Fell Outta a Tree
@Samantha Salwis
How had things ended up like this?
He stared at the man blankly. Ice cream?
The man wasn't serious right? There was no way the guy had seen Elsian with this feather head before their tumble just now. Or at least, no way he’d thought to get some kid he didn't know some ice cream too. But no- he was proudly showing off said ice cream.
“Oh I-” Don't need it. Elsian went to politely decline.
Elsi just had this feeling the ice cream had been for the father daughter duo to enjoy. He didn't want to ruin their plans; no matter how rude and annoying the Ravenclaw was and how she probably totally deserved it. Now was the perfect time to decline and make a clean escape!
Of course, Feathers just had to go and ruin things by interrupting him mid-sentence.
Oh, and the face she pulled! This brat needed a serious attitude adjustment. As if he would ever be friends with this bird-brained dumbass. He’d rather have Astronomy homework for the rest of summer…
Half-heartedly he took the ice cream, sensing he’d officially lost his chance at a clean break. Hopefully he didn’t seem too ungrateful or anything, he just kinda felt bad taking the ice cream. “Oh um,” he grasped the cool bowl in his hands, snapping out of it long enough to send a look of disbelief at the way she just up and snatched the treat from her dad like that. Rude much? Jeez, she hadn’t even said thanks. “Thank you,” he quickly finished, shoving the basketball under his arm to have his hands better free; she hadn’t even taken the stupid ball after he’d held it out to her…Well fine, Elsi would hold onto it then. It was Elsians basketball until she sucked it up and asked for it back.
“Huh? Oh, yeah. Sure.” He nodded, quickly following the others' lead. He didn't actually want to sit by her but maybe he could get away with sitting on the cool grass or staying on the opposite side of the bench.
“We know each other from school,” he admitted. He would’ve pulled a face at the thought but taking a bite of the delicious treat covered up the response. “We met in the owlery, where she tried to hex-”
He choked on a bite. Covering up the words when he realized his mistake with a tiny cough, “help. Tried to help my pet, Kitty.” Samantha got a dark look thrown her way when they arrived at the bench, her dads back turned to the Gryffindor as he pointedly plopped down onto some cool grass as he took a bite of ice cream. It was annoying. Her obvious moping. If he had to keep holding the conversation by himself, he was gonna make her regret it.
“Kitty wandered off to play by the windows while I was writing a letter. I knew already where she was, but Feathers didn't and thought my pet had gotten lost.”
The best lies were built on truths.
It wasn't totally right. But some of the things he was saying also weren't totally wrong…
“Right Feathers?” he asked innocently, rolling the basketball on the ground as he took another bite. “It was funny really. And Kitty adored being watched by you.”

I Came, I Saw, I Fell Outta a Tree
A smile of pure happiness could be seen on Samantha's father's face when Elsian took the bowl of ice cream and thank him. Meanwhile, the girl watched as the wand thief placed her basketball under his arm. Now the boy did not only steal her father's attention, but he also stole her basketball! He really was a filthy little thief, maybe she should warn her dad. Quickly, she shook the thought, knowing it would only get her in trouble in the long run. Right now her focus should be on not having Elsian tell anything to her dad about her fear of spiders or the way she behaved towards him, which hadn't exactly been the nicest.
Her father listening to Elsian talking about how he and Samantha had met, the two made their way over to the bench she was sitting on. Not noticing how the boy had almost slipped up and revealed the true events of the day the two students had met, Samuel smiled at his daughter, proud she had helped somebody's pet. "Sammy, he just told me how kind you were helping his cat!" The brunette looked up from her ice cream in surprise, helping whose cat when? Her confused look landed on Elsian just in time to see the dark look he gave her, and a part of her father's words clicked instantly. Her dad must have assumed Kitty was a cat! Honestly, that would have made a lot more sense and Samantha would have prefered it to be true.
However, the part about helping still didn't make any sense, or Elsian would suddenly change his mind and decided that Samantha trying to hurt his pet was actually helpful, something she doubted sincerely. It didn't take long for Elsian to explain what her father meant, only confusing the young girl even more. She never thought that repulsive animal had been lost, nor had she wanted to help it. It would be to her delight if the horrendous spider had died, there was no way she would have helped it. The prefect found herself at a loss of words after the idiot finished the 'story' about their first meeting, not understanding why the boy would tell lies like that.
She wanted to refuse to reply to the attention, ice cream, basketball, wand and dairy-stealing kid but knew she couldn't. Her dad, who was sitting next to her on the bench, would probably wonder why she would be ignoring the innocent-looking boy, which would only complicate the already horrible situations she was currently in. "Yeah," she said reluctantly. The way he casually called her feathers, while playing with her basketball and eating her father's ice cream, rubbed her the wrong way. "Don't call me feathers," she hissed at Elsian, not caring about her father's reaction for a moment. A little cough from her father reminded her of his presence and stopped her from adding 'you idiot' to her previous sentence.
"Also, dad," she turned her attention away from the boy, "Kitty is not a cat, I am not sure why Elsian called his pet Kitty when it is not a cat as it is as illogical as it can be, but it is a spider," the prefect told her old man, using the moment she informed her dad to say in yet another way how stupid Elsian was. "Oh," her father said clearly surprised. "I thought you didn't like spiders that much," he said questioning. "Yeah that's true," she said, unsure how it had anything to do with the fact that Elsian was weird enough to call his spider Kitty. It took her a few seconds and an extremely confused look from her father to realize that it was strange that she 'helped' a spider if she disliked them. Knowing she had to go with Elsian's insane lie to stop her dad from questioning their relationship, her annoyance towards spider boy grew. "But Kitty is different," she said after a long pause. She had never expected to say those words about the bloodthirsty spider in her whole life, but technically they weren't a lie. Kitty was different, as in, a lot more horrible than most spiders, not in the way of, Kitty is better than most spiders and worth saving. However, it was the latter that she wanted her dad to believe to avoid drama.

I Came, I Saw, I Fell Outta a Tree
@Samantha Salwis
“Why? It’s what I always call you.” He paused in a bite, leaning forward to whisper to her in a conspiring tone, “or are you embarrassed about your dad hearing,” he teased.
At least it seemed like she was catching on quickly. Maybe she wasn’t a total feather head all the time.
He took another bite, quietly enjoying the chocolate as Feathers spoke. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad? If they just…kept it simple, then Elsian could excuse himself via needing to go meet up with his parents or something after he stuck around long enough. Then the two of them could go back to pretending this had never happened. But how long was an acceptable length? He knew he had to stay at least a little longer to not be totally obvious…or seem like a total ungrateful brat Salwis seemed happy to act like.
“She,” he corrected, squinting. Kitty was a she, not an it, thank you very much.
“And she acts like a cat!” He complained, defending his naming skills against this slander! “It’s not illogical! It’s a perfectly acceptable name. You people have no sense of whimsy,” he sniffed, sulking into his ice cream.
You name a black and white spotted cat Cow or Moo and it’s the peak of comedy. But name a spider that adores sunbathing and boxes Kitty and its stupid.
Samantha got a squint that quickly turned into a sunny grin upon catching up with the conversation. This was great! Hearing her force out those words was music to his ears. “So so different,” he agreed innocently, “she’s smarter than a lot of other spiders being a black webber and all, she’ll just-” He made a crawling motion with his hand, biting down a snicker, “happily crawl on you and sleep. The higher the better, she adores sitting on people's heads for that reason I think.”
An innocent glance towards Feathers. “Especially long hair, loves hiding in it.”

I Came, I Saw, I Fell Outta a Tree
Samantha frowned slightly, eyebrows lifting gently and pinching above the brow, at the nonsense that was coming out of Elsians mouth, her expression showing utter annoyance. The wand thief had used the word 'always' like they saw each other daily to gossip together while sipping some tea at Hogwarts. Ugh, could she just throw ice cream in his face? Elsian was extremely annoying, there was no denying that but she couldn't waste her ice cream by throwing it in his face, her ice cream deserved better than that. On top of that, it may not be the best idea to throw ice cream in somebody's face in front of her dad.
When Elsian corrected her about his pet's pronouns, the brunette looked at him in surprise not expecting him to care about it at all. Honestly, did he think she would call Kitty she? The thing didn't deserve her caring about its pronouns as it almost tried to kill her. Besides, what did it matter what she called his pet because 1) the horrifying thing wasn't here and 2) it couldn't even understand her, so what was the big deal anyway?
The logic of calling a terrifying eight-legged creature kitty flew completely over Samantha's head, even if, according to the idiot, the spider behaved like a cat. How in the world would a spider even act like a cat, seriously, this boy was talking rubbish. "It is," she interrupted Elsian after he said it wasn't illogical. "Samantha be nice!" her dad said to her horror, "I think it is a very creative name and don't listen to Samantha. She couldn't even name her pet, her sister had to do it for her," her dad revealed. Hiding her face from her dad, the young girl rolled her eyes at the things her dad shared with spider boy, who she didn't even want to spend time with.
The frightened look on the brunette's face was the complete opposite of her dad's adoring look when Elsian talked about Kitty crawling on you and sleeping on your head. A childish smile played on Samuel's face when the boy talked about his pet. "That's so cool!" he said, like a little kid who had just gotten a new toy for Christmas. His daughter on the other hand stared at her empty bowl, frightened by the last words of the boy before she secretly checked the length of her hair. Would this be considered long? Maybe it was time for a haircut, she should defiantly ask her mom to make an appointment at the hairdressers once she got home. An ice-cold shiver moved down her spine at the idea of the horrifying spider hiding in her lovely long locks, she would rather be bald.
While the 12-year-old girl was busy worrying about her hair length, her dad focused his attention on Elsian. "Wait," he said suddenly serious, as he moved a tad closer to the idiot. "If you know Sammie," an annoyed sigh escaped his daughter's mouth at the nickname, "from school, does that mean you are a wizard?" her dad asked in awe. "What about your parents? Are they wizards as well?" the man asked in a hushed voice, eyes twinkling.
Her dad absolutely loved that he was a muggle that knew of the existence of the magical world, believing it made him extremely special. In the beginning, he had joked around a lot whenever Samantha was home and they were talking with an unknowing muggle, telling funny jokes about witches and winking at his daughter, much to her annoyance. Every single time her dad saw something magical he turned into a little kid, embarrassing Samantha to whom the wizarding world slowly began to feel more like home than the muggle one. It was one of the reasons why the brunette hated going to Daigon Alley with her father and preferred taking her mom shopping for new school supplies during the breaks.

Wow, she really went there!
He huffed silently, sending a glare in the Ravenclaws direction and gearing up to argue his point for the innocent spider but seemed not to have needed to bother. Not when her dad seemed plenty willing to jump in Kittys behalf! He grinned cheerfully at the man, lips curling smugly when he wasn't at Elsian to look towards Feather Brain. “Thanks!” He said happily, grin turning a tad sharper with a laugh as he continued. “No way! Really?”
“I didn’t know you had a sister.” Or that you couldn’t even name your own pet, went unsaid. It was said with fake politeness dripping from the words as he caught the others frightened look. Oh, it was delightful! He had to bite the inside of his cheek to stop the laugh threatening to escape when she seemed to eye her own hair length.
It’d been a kinda lie, kinda not a lie. He didn't really think Kitty had a big preference for hair length, all that mattered was it was long enough to hide in, but Feathers didn’t need to know that.
Elsian took a last bite of his ice cream, enjoying the remaining sweetness. He nodded simply in agreement to the man's words. Kitty was pretty cool, he wasn't gonna argue that point. Elsi adored the spider, no matter how flighty and troublesome she could be when she put her mind to it. “Yeah, luckily none of my roommates have been scared of spiders. She’s really good at getting out of her home, so I kinda gave up and just let her sleep with me whenever she wants.”
He blinked widely, staring at the man with a raised brow; he’d…thought that much was obvious. “Yeah, although I’m not in the same house as her,” he said, nodding, “and, yes, both of my parents are, um, wizards.”
Granted, there was definitely some muggle blood mixed into the family tree in recent years but as far as his parents went, they were undoubtedly both wizards. “Actually, my dad really likes muggle-” wait, did he know what muggle meant? He peeked at Feathers on her perch atop the bench and then back to her dad. “Um, he likes the theater nearby so I’m supposed to meet up with them at the diner by 7:30.”
There, nailed it. Perfect excuse to leave slipped into the conversation!

I Came, I Saw, I Fell Outta a Tree
The big grin on his face showed that Elsian was way too happy with her father's words about Kitty's name and the information her father had so recklessly shared. Wand thief already knew enough about her life from when he had stolen her diary and read through it, her dad didn't need to give the idiotic boy more information. The fake smile that was glued to her face wasn't strong enough to hide the hateful look she gave him as he told her he didn't know about her sister. "That's because I didn't tell you," she replied simply.
Not a single word the boy spoke comforted her, some even frightened her. The idea of the horrible spider being able to escape its home and walk around freely while everybody was asleep only fed the fear that had kept the girl up many nights. "In which house are you then?" her dad asked wand thief curiously. "And it is really cool that your parents are wizards, my wife and I are both-" her dad took a moment to think, "muggles? I think that's what you call us."
When Elsian glared her way, she looked back with great suspicion, what kind of muggle thing did his dad like? Theatre, how disappointing! Another disappointment was that wand thief only had to meet with his parents at half past 7, which was almost 3 hours away. "Well, you have more than enough time to get ready then," she grinned, "why don't you stay a bit longer here with me and my dad?" At first she wanted the boy to leave her alone for as long as possible so he didn't tell her dad anything about her fear of spiders but now bothering him a tad longer seemed like a great idea. If he was going to spill her secrets to her dad, he would have done it already.
"That sounds like a great idea!" her father agreed as he got up from the bench. "Maybe we could play... lummelen?" His questioning look was aimed at Samantha with the mention of the Dutch children's game in which one player, the lummel, had to try to catch the ball the others of the group threw around and when succeed the player that had last touched the ball would have to switch positions with the lummel and run after the ball to catch it. "What is the English word for lummelen?" he asked his daughter in his native language. "No idea," she replied in Dutch as she lifted her shoulders. "But we can play it, as long as Elsian is the lummel!" she added quickly in the Germanic language. The idea of her and her dad calmly throwing around the ball while Elsian ran after it like the idiot he was in the hot weather was very entertaining to her.
To her great joy, the brunette realized that her annoying fellow wizard had probably understood nothing of the conversation she and her dad were having. This was perfect, she could tell him they were talking about whatever she wanted and he would have no idea if she was telling the truth or telling him a lot of nonsense. Of course, her dad was still there and he would know she was lying but she could still have fun with it later. Elsian also probably didn't know the rules of the game so she could slightly bend them in her favour. After placing her empty bowl on the bench, she snatched her basketball away from the boy, returning it to its rightful owner and far away from the hands of the filthy thief (for now).
"Idiot," if he used a nickname for her she could also use one for him. "It's his nickname, dad, so don't worry, I am not being mean to him," she said with an angelic little smile before turning her attention back to the boy. "Get up, we are going to play a game," she said as she played with the ball. Her dad had already gotten up from the bench and walked over to a more open place where they could run around easier. "You are the lummel and have to catch this ball when my dad and I are throwing it to each other. When you catch it, the last person that threw the ball becomes the lummel and has to catch it, clear?" she asked, not leaving the boy a choice if he wanted to join or not. After her last words, she turned around and walked over to her dad where she would wait for Elsian to join her.

@Samantha Salwis
“Gryffindor.” He answered simply, standing to walk to one of the trash bins a bit aways along the pathway before turning back with a stretch. He would leave soon. Getting up was half the battle. “Yeah, it’s muggles.” So they did know the term. And they didn’t seem to mind it either. That was good. He heard some people weren’t fans of being called muggles.
Elsian was at a loss when it came to his parents, only able to nod with a polite smile and halfhearted shrug. “Yeah, well, the things you muggles make are always fun to see. Wish we could use the electronics you have at the houses without it breaking.” It was said as if they were talking about the weather and not the possibility of a cell phone exploding at his house because there was too much active magic but for Elsian it might as well have been small talk. That was just a fact in his life. If you wanted a muggle electronic you had to have a place you didn't have linked up or enchanted up to your ears.
Maybe he could get a place like that…separated from the main house somewhere further off on the property? His auntie did that for her equipment back in America with her storage unit…how far would it have to be from the house?
That…was definitely something he would need to think about later.
Preferably as he made a get away from here.
“So I-” Feathers interrupted him. He threw a suspicious look in her direction, which quickly morphed into horror.
What was she doing? What was she doing???
“I um-!” He turned to look at Feathers as her fathers back was turned, shaking his head lightly and holding his arms out as if to say, ‘what are you doing!’ She did realize they were gonna have to fake being friends, right? The longer they lied the more danger they were in!
By Merlin he couldn’t even understand what they were saying, and his face pinched in a mix of confused annoyance. A withering look was sent towards the Ravenclaw as he sat black down, one that smoothed into something more neutral as her dad looked back. He was stuck. There was no way he was gonna be able to leave without it being suspicious or weird, not when they were supposed to be…friends.
He wanted to wipe that stupid smile right off her face.
No. No he couldn’t think like that. They would be in so much trouble if they got found out.
Still, he could be annoying in his own way. Begrudgingly he got back up, groaning dramatically as he swayed to his feet. Jeez, if he’d known that he wouldn’t have sat back down in the first place. He didn't know what the heck lummelen was, never heard of the game before, but if her dad had been the one to suggest it then it couldn’t be that bad. Right?
“I guess-?” he began, words tumbling to a stop as the younger girl grabbed his hand. Apparently, he was too slow for her liking. “Okay, okay! Jeez, I’m coming already.” He complained dramatically, rolling his eyes as he let her pull him along.
He stopped, looking between her and her dad with an odd look as they got into place. Thinking. So, he just had to catch the ball, right? Simple as that? He could do that.
…Or he thought he could. It was way harder than he thought it’d be. The ball sailed over his head for the third time, out of reach, way, way out of reach. He hadn’t stood a chance! Even if he got a running start to jump there was no way he was going to catch the ball! Not with how stupidly tall Sam's dad was! His shoe skid against the grass, the boy huffing in annoyance when the stupid bird brain caught the ball with ease. This wasn’t working. He wasn’t tall enough to grab the ball in the middle like this-
He paused.
The ball went over his head. He could probably get the ball if he got close enough the moment she went to throw it… Her dad was too tall but Salwis? If he timed it-
He let the ball go over his head again, only putting the barest effort into appearing like he was trying to grab it as the dad threw it. He waited. Staring at Feathers silent. He’d just shrug or give a mean smile if she tried to rile him up. When she reared back, getting ready to throw he moved, closing the small distance just as she the ball left her fingertips. He jumped, hands easily snatching onto the ball as he landed.
Grinning, he threw the basketball up once, twice, as he walked up to Feathers. “Guess you’re the lummel now Feathers~” he chirped, gently tapping the top of her head with the ball teasingly as he took her place.

"If you ever want to watch something, you and your parents can come to our house! We don't have any trouble with electronics," her father offered the boy enthusiastically. The brunette wasn't happy with the idea of having Elsian and his parents, who she had never met before, in her house watching a random show on tv and was very disappointed in her dad for inviting the people over just because he thought they were cool as they were wizards.
The first suspicious look which soon turned into a horrified one on the wand thief's face made Samantha's grin even bigger. It was hilarious to watch the boy freak out a little and it only encouraged the girl to continue with her little plan. She wouldn't admit it, she started to enjoy spending time with spider boy even though the most fun part was annoying him now he had nowhere to go. After she had dragged the boy by his hand, she took her place and waited for the game to start.
In order to annoy want thief even more, she held the ball in front of his face. "Do you want this?" she would ask innocently. "Here, you can have it," she told him as she took a step in his direction. After waiting as long as it took for him to try to take the basketball, she would quickly move it away from him before he could touch it. "Ha! I won't give it to you," she told him before giving him a mean look. "Be nice, Sam!" her dad corrected her. "I am nice," she said with an innocent smile to her father.
To the girl's greatest joy, did the boy join the game, and she was able to make him run around like the idiot he was. Sadly, the boy stopped trying to catch the ball after a while and took a break to rest. "Haha!" she laughed at him. "You are too slow, you can't catch the ball," she teased the older Gryffindor. It was like she had jinxed it because as soon as she threw the ball the boy snatched it out of the air. Defeated, she slowly took her place in the middle as she heard her dad chuckle softly. Like the laughing of her dad wasn't enough Elsian started teasing her too and even tapped the top of her head with the ball he had just stolen from her again. "You just got lucky," she said grumpily, "that's all!" she refused to believe anything else.
When the others started to throw around the ball around in the air, Samantha tried to catch it out of the sky by jumping but she was just too small. One time after Elsian threw the basketball to her father, her finger brushed against it causing it to fly off course. Her little legs moved as fast as they could as she ran after the basketball which was now rolling on the ground but they were useless against her father who easily scooped up the ball from the ground before she was even near it.
"I am tired and it is hot," she would complain after being the lummel for a while. "I can be the lummel for a bit so you can rest," her dad offered, sweet like always. "Okay," the girl said happily when she traded places with her father. It didn't take long before her father was able to catch the basketball again but during the time she was throwing the ball to Elsian, she would purposely aim a bit to the left or right so the boy had to run.
