Quidditch Hogwarts v Durmstrang & Koldovstoretz Summer 2022

Finally, finally, it was here. The day had come when Cecily would find herself donned in her blue and bronze Quidditch uniform, high above London, facing off against students from around the world. The championship match was here, and Cecily was playing in it. After all Ravenclaw had suffered and pereservered through, after the years she was forced to watch her team lose again and again, this was their Comback. They were here to prove that Ravenclaw wasn't just bookish nerds and freakishly good duellists. They were a force to be reckoned with on the pitch, too. And those losers would be no match for them, Cecily was sure. She knew her team, and there was no way any of them had come this far just to lose against some foreigners.

Edme had gotten pretty used to the feeling of dread and hope that came from starting a new game. It was just that this time, it may rain.

The London Quidditch stadium was overwhelmingly gorgeous, and even in the worry and gloom of the weather, Edme was dazzled by actually being here. She might even get to play!

They hurried off to the bench, sitting down soundlessly while still looking around excitedly. A small smile played on their lips, even if she was as nervous as ever.

River squinted as she Headed out onto the pitch. Her head hurt slightly from bumping into the bed-post that morning, and she groaned quietly as she prepared for flight. It was strange entering a pitch that wasn’t their usual arena, but she was excited to see what it could bring. Also playing against an unfamiliar team would be a fun challenge. As the sound of a whistle broke through the talkative crowd, the game was underway. The light sprinkles of rain would only continue this way for a few hours before thunderstorms struck the stadium. The rain however, did nothing to deter the impatient fans who currently were sending magical bubbles up into the air. Hopefully the glint of a bubble would not distract any seekers, and make the game last longer than it needed to. “Now that the players are up in the air, it’s time for Hogwarts to lose!” The completely biased commentator was rooting for Durmstrang and Koldovstoretz, and based on the boos that filled the audience when he said that, it was clear that everyone now knew.

“The quaffle is up, annnnnnnd no one is going for it?!? What is this strategy! There are free points up for grabs that no one has taken. This is insane! I’d expect such a strategy from Hogwarts, but Durmstrang no way. I am severely disappointed and I hope all of you on the field hear that! The quaffle has won matches, focus on it!” After getting that rant off of his chest, Lazarus shook his head at the quaffle that was now in the referees hand. How could no one have gone for it, they could have scored 50 points in the time between now and when the ref would throw it up again. That was 50 game changing points in the drain.

The only chaser or seeker that remained true to their position was Johannes, who was guarding the Yilbergän rings. Everyone else was off either tailing behind their teams seeker or setting up to preform a move that they were not supposed to preform.

While the quaffle game was incredibly boring, the battlefield was not. Both Yilbergän and Ravenclaw were determined to win this game by knocking each other off of their brooms.

The first to attempt to do as such was Charles, a chaser on the Durmstrang side of the team. Charles came up alongside Jorah, Ravenclaws terrifying beater, and knocked him off of his broom. Jorah was quickly caught by Sylvain who was flying nearby. Charles may have succeeded in his move, but it was an illegal move to preform in quidditch.
“Charles, my favorite chaser in this game has come up to the side of Jorah and…..KNOCKED HIM OFF OF HIS BROOM!! THAT IS UNDENIABLY A FOUL, GO TAKE A PENALTY LAP CHARLES AND UNDERSTAND HOW UPSET I AM AT YOU!” Headmaster Plott was upset, how could an international student go so low and commit a foul. It was preposterous. Lazarus was so upset that he didn’t even mention Jorah had been caught by one of his teammates.

Before Jorah could be caught by Sylvain, he swung hit bat at a bludger towards Valentin. Even though Edward was guarding Valentin, the bludger didn’t even make it that far. It may have been the fact that he was falling through the air, or the odd presence radiating off of a few players on the field, but the bludger went nowhere. “Was that a bludger hit from a falling player? I’ve got no clue where it’s going, but hats off to that Jorah guy for hitting it mid air.”

Damion was the next Ravenclaw beater to attempt and hit a bludger at Valentin who was blocked by Edward. Damion was attempting the beloved bludger backbeat which gave the beater a more accurate attempt for less damage. As Damion hit the bludger and Edward got in position to guard his seeker, you had to feel bad for the little guy. He was so small, and used as a shield for the seeker. The bludger hit Edward right in the gut and did so much damage. “It looks as though Damion has hit a bludger at Valentin. Let’s hope it doesn’t hit! Wait. Little Edward just flew in the path of the bludger, and took the brunt of the hit! That’s going to bruise for a while, I wish I could go help the little guy.”

The next player to make a known foul move was Madhup who was planning on blatching Lavinia, the chaser who had a specialty in cheating moves. Madhup preformed his move as seamlessly as Charles and knocked the older student off of her broom. Lavinia was soon caught by Aly, and Madhup was caught by the referee. “Is that Madhup doing the same move Charles just did?! Did you not learn anything?! I DO NOT CONDONE CHEATERS, GO TAKE A LAP!”

The last one searching for blood this round was Romeo on Yilbergän. He was riding a fancy Firebolt while attempting to hit Cecily with a bludger. He hit the bludger with such force that Cecily was completely knocked off of her broom. To make matters worse for Ravenclaw the bludger ricocheted off of Cecily’s broom and headed towards Sylvain. However, Sylvain and his broom were so used to evading bludgers that he easily dodged the bludger. “And another bludger is in the air! Romeo just hit this bludger, and it knocked Cecily off of her broom! Congrats Romeo, for a legal play! Hold up. This bludger is headed towards Sylvain as well. Ahhh Sylvain has easily dodged it. Maybe next time Romeo.”

At last there was the snitch. The one small golden ball that had no intention of being found, yet was worth a whopping one hundred and fifty points. Once this ball was caught, the game would come to a close. With the assurance of greater thunderstorms to come, both teams desperately wanted to find it. Ravenclaw was so ready to get out of the rain that they sent 3 players to search for it. Anyone outside the team would not notice Lavinia and Cecily joining the snitch search, and would rather predict that they were setting up to save a fellow teammate.

River, Valentin, Cecily, and Lavinia would circle the field looking everywhere for a tiny shimmer of gold to indicate the snitch. The bubbles floating from the stands may have distracted them momentarily, as not one of them could find the snitch.

“Does anybody see the snitch?! I can’t find it! Am I loosing my eyesight or has it just not appeared yet?! Oh no, I hope I’m not that old to lose my eyesight, if I’m just currently blind and can’t spot the snitch then I’m so sorry to all of you. Hopefully Mr. Valentin has spotted the snitch and the redhead has not. Go Durmstrang and Koldovstoretz!”

Great. Just his luck. Eddy had to be knocked so hard, he could swear some bones must've been broken, as he was defending a durmstrang girl. Shit. This wasn't something Edward normally did. Normally he would've targeted durmstrang, but here he is now, groaning loudly in pain, and trying to make it obvious that he was hurting. He really didn't want to deal with the bruises.

Lavinia was looking for the snitch. Why? She had no idea. All she knew was that this snitch was extremely hard to find. Lavinia was extremely good about looking for objects, but the snitch was un-spottable. Each time she looked the bubbles from the crowd would get in her vision, and she would lose precious seeking time.

While Lavinia was preoccupied hunting for the elusive snitch, she barely noticed the durmstrang player come up beside her. Failing to evade, Lavinia frantically started falling to the ground. She had just gotten blatched, something that never happened to her, but she did to everyone else. It was insane, why would someone want to blatch her. Not expecting anyone to save her, she was shocked when she fell onto Aly’s broom. Sending a nod to Aly, Lavinia tried to get back in the groove of things.
