Nervousness wasn't something that came easy to Farron. Normally she ran in and made mistakes and shrugged it off and was secretly embarrassed about it later. But this... this, being introduced to an entire student body at a meal as a new Professor was nerve wracking. There were expectations, eyes of all ages staring at her. While she was excited for this new prospect, being literally face to face with it was mildly terrifying. Deep down she knew she knew a lot of astronomy, had been in the field for around 10 years now, working her way up to the top. She deserved this position. But... in front of all of her now pupils? She wondered if this was the right thing.
Well! No matter, she shoved the thoughts right to the back of her head to be dealt with another time. For right now she was starving. There was quite a spread at the table and she couldn't remember the last time she had seen so many dishes in one place. Without magic this would be one hell of a mess to clean up. She took an available seat next to someone with a red cloak on and smiled, "I'm Farron Horne, though... everyone just found that out. It's nice to meet you." She hoped her voice would be heard over the already loud din and chatter of the Great Hall. Her voice was quite loud, but she restrained not wanting to yell into this woman's ear. "Your cloak is very lovely, a beautiful shade of red." Friendship 101, compliments. She was nailing this.
Her stomach gurgled and she remembered that she was hungry, beginning to pull bits and pieces of food onto her plate.

First Dinner Nerves

Groundhog Day. A muggle movie that Maya watched when she was a tad bit younger. It was about a man who kept waking up on the same day over and over again, doing the same things over and over again. Maya felt that it was so when on shift. She wakes up, lesson plans, teaches, grade papers, goes on a walk and ends with dinner, a good book and bed. Perhaps it was good that nothing was changing her routine drastically. It only meant danger within the castle walls. Though what would Hogwarts be without a bit of danger?
Right now, Maya was at the dinner portion of her routine. Wearing her signature red cloak, she was sitting at the Staff's table of the Great Hall. She was eating at the earlier end, preparing to have time to read her thriller book before a good nights sleep. Tomorrow night, in comparison, was her turn to patrol and roam the halls.
Using a fork and knife, Maya was cutting through a piece of chicken leg. As she was cutting, she looked up to see a woman introduce herself. Maya stared at the new professor, trying to figure out what subject it was she taught. So far, Maya was considered a veteran professor alongside Professor Lydursdattir and Professor Zahid. New professors often came and went throughout her years at Hogwarts.
"I'm Maya Galim. I teach Muggle Studies here at Hogwarts. What is it that you teach?" she asked, her Israeli accent thick. She decided that she wasn't going to guess and would rather be straightforward and inquire. As usual, her cloak had gotten a compliment. Typically that would piss Maya off, but she felt that the new professor meant no harm and was only trying to find something to say. And what better than the blaring red coat that she wears often? No one except for Marcus Iwasaki knew why she wore it.
"I recommend their chicken," she said, watching Horne put a bunch of pieces of food on her plate. "I would stay away from the shepherds pie though," she warned, pointing at the food located in the middle of the table.
"How are you enjoying your employment?" Maya asked with curiosity. Hogwarts always expected a lot of their teachers. Perhaps that was why there was always new ones every now and again.
