Summer Games 2022
This is a spectator thread for Durmstrang v Mahoutokoro & Beaauxbatons.

The previous races between the Hogwarts schools occupied the morning. Mid-day marked the first intercontinental race between a portion of Beaauxbatons paired with Koldovstoretz to face off against Ilvermorny. The rest of the Beaauxbaton students were paired with Mahoutokoro, new to the racing world were facing off against Durmstrang. There was a lot of hub bub about the splitting of Beauxbaton's team between the two races but the French school's fan have taken this as a mark of pride - a chance for them to "beat everyone" and that chant has been making its rounds about the bleachers.
The fact that there was a contingent of rowdy Durmstrang fans was also worthy of mention. This might be one of the most exciting as well as the loudest match of the day...

The final race of the day, competition between two champions for the Hexwizard tournament, this was a fitting finale. The day was hot, the stadium bleachers were blistering with heat but that was not a deterrent for most fans. Armed with a supply of snacks bought at concessions, brightly colored flags and banners, most fans were ready to cheer their school and/or friends on.

Charled pulled the hood of his hoodie over his hair with a long rolled up parchment in hand, walking toward the pitch for the race.
Sun reflected on his black leather jacket, the holes and charcoal strains covered up with patches. Patches featuring the durmstrang quidditch team and hexwizard team. In between, patches of ravnes. A grey hoodie underneath the jacket paired with black jeans and black trainers. Tied to his right wirst, a flag from the Beauxbatons school. Black guyliner lining his eyes, his nails painted a dsrk shade of red with black tips.
Hands shoved in his jacket pockets as he climbed the stadium. The final race. Durmstrang versus Beauxbatons and.... and... who was Beauxbatons paired with again? Charles wagered Mahoutokoro or Koldovstoretz. He didn't mind the other schools much anyway. For the blonde was there to silently cheer for a few fellow durmstrang and friends.
Finding a spot in the corner, resting his hands on the railing as he stared out at the starting race. Posture straight with a neutral look, daring other to approach. His mind battled who to cheer for... who to shout for to win...
Staring from above. The faces below, blurry. Not in clear focus... He wasn't that energetic that day to get himself a pair of omnioculars. Not seeing the need for them, he could listen for the important bits and see who the winner is. After all isn't that the most important person in a broom race? The winner?
The blonde ran his hand along the railing, eyeing down the racers. His heart throb in his ear. A part of him wishing to be down there with his broom. Speeding through the air, not a care in mind but quidditch was his love and to him playing on a team meant more than accomplishing a solo win.
Eyes scanning over the racers. Taking in the distanced faces, the brooms in their hands. The minutes ticking away. The few the blonde recognized and struggled with who to cheer for.
Cassie. Beauxbatons. Racing aginest durmstrang and those he grew to knew over the past few weeks... still the girl is one of his closest and best friends, more like a sister than a friend. Eyes drifted to the Beauxbaton flag tied to his wrist. His heart sounding off in his ears, telling him to shout her name. Cheer for her. He knew how excellent she few, he seen the talent and skill of her before....
He wasn't sure... with Yefim Rumyantsev there. What would he think? If Charles shouted Cassie's name... if he cheered for Beauxbatons over durmstrang. Eyes dropped to the rolled up parchment in his left hand.
Eyes daryed back to the pitch. Speaking of.... Yefim Rumyantsev. Power and skill rolled up into one. Never has there been someone he respected and have been annoyed with so greatly. Charles understood he is ruthless, power-hungry and would likely do anything to accomplish a win. The smart choice for him to cheer for... right? Durmstrang?
The durmstrang broom racing team also had two more hexwizard team mates. Mikael Halldorson. The bloke he rightfully nicknamed Mikotaur for his muscle appearance and voice of little words. Charles haven't spoken much to him but he still is durmstrang... two durmstrang... shouldn't that be the tiebreaker of who he votes for?
Cielle Johansen. The spunky and powerful girl who hailed from durmstrang as well. He might have taken a likening to her... even if he competes for the loo in the morning with her during the summer. She seemed fun and adventurous plus a sweet stash so instant bonus points in his books.
The blonde still felt hesitant. Who to cheer for?
A step back, bringing the rolled up parchment in both of his hands. His fingers lightly brushing the paper, a small drawing he worked on that morning. Something no one else has seen yet... although not a lot knew of his hobby, a part of him afraid that it would make him appear weak. Worthless. Much like cheering for both... his school and friend.
Charles felt his chest tighten, rubbing a hand to it. Through breaths. The teen looked out, a part knowing what to do.... they couldn't do much once he nade his choice... right?
The teen slowly unrolled the parchment, eyes flashing over the names... sketches...
A breath
He shool off the nerves. He couldn't appear weak... he couldn't... holding it on the other side of the railing.
The parchment showcasing two large sketches of school crests. Durmstrang and Beauxbatons. Durmstrang in the left corner and Beauxbatons in the right. On the left, three sketches of faces spread diagonally across the left side of the parchment. Yefim at the top, Cielle in the center, and Mikael at the bottom.
On the right, a sketch of Cassie's face at underneath the Beauxbatons crest. In the middle, written in durmstrang school colors stated the words "Glory for durmstrang! For Horntail Horde!" Underneath in a shade of dark blue read the words "Fly fast and true as always Cassie! Shall luck be on your side!"
It was bold. Cheering for both. Holding the parchment for all to see, eyes darting about at thisr around him. Narrowed. Waiting for someone to say something as they drifted back to the race.

Valentin had come to spectate today’s international broom racing match foremost to support his friends and Durmstrang, but the sport itself did have some appeal to him. He couldn’t abandon his quidditch team after everything they’d been through together, and everything they still dreamed to accomplish, but Valentin did burn with a devilish need for speed. He hoped to get his thrills today vicariously by watching his friends, Mik and Yef. He noticed, of course, Cielle and would cheer for her as part of the greater Durmstrang family. He would simply put aside that one time she had bitchslapped him into oblivion. That was just how Durmstrang rolled.
Spotting Charles in the audience, Val decided to walk over to him and ask if he could sit in the empty seat to his right. He looked at the parchment that Charles exhibited for everyone to see and appreciated his boldness in sticking with what he felt was right: cheering for both teams. However, Valentin had no such proclivity.
«Задай им жару, Миша! Вот так рождаются легенды, Фима!» (“Give ‘em hell, Misha! This is how legends are made, Fima!”) roared Valentin. «Ты тоже, Гусь. Пусть они вкусят гнев Дурмстранга.» (“You, too, Goose. Make them taste Durmstrang’s wrath.”)

Leandra had considered going to all of the Broom Races happening that day. Or maybe all the Hogwarts ones, but she knew herself well enough to know that she wouldn't be able to sit still for that long. So instead, she'd decided to just go to one of the matches from the foreign countries - this was also about international stuff, right? So she should go meet international people, right? She gathered some of that Gryffindor Courage her dad always said she had and stepped up to the track, trying not to get swept away by the throng of people watching.
Someone shouting right next to her had her flinching and moving wide eyes towards them. She looked him over and didn't feel like he wasn't going to be loud for more of the race, so she started moving away a little, using her small stature to squeeze between people. She could see the players starting to line up, motivating each other, excited shouts coming from the crowd. It was a rowdy, happy crowd. She was definitely excited about getting to fly her own broom at Hogwarts this year, and maybe she'd join a team at some point too. Broom racing did sound like an exciting sport.

Ayako frowned at the disgustingly loud displays of celebration from the other children in the stands. Why on earth were they incapable of realizing that it was very possible to show support for one's friends without behaving as barbarians? It was appalling, and Ayako would have no part in it.
She was seated near the top of the bleachers. Everyone who knew anything about broom racing or quidditch knew that the best views were from on high. You could see practically everything that happened from up here. The only regret was that she couldn't be floating along on her own broom for a closer look at the action.
Contrary to many peoples' beliefs - even those that Ayako considered close friends - she didn't think of spectating sports as being a waste of time. Sitting around lazily reading fiction, taking a nap in the middle of the afternoon, and skipping rocks on a lake were wastes of time. Watching a high stakes broom racing match from which she could see some very talented flyers - and maybe even learn a thing or two - was certainly not.
...plus, she would never admit it, but she wouldn't miss Chi's first official race for the world. Even if she had to make up a thousand excuses to explain her presence, she would do so so that the wonderful girl wouldn't feel that she wasn't loved.
Hence, Ayako found herself sitting silently and staring at Chi with the most intense stare she could manage. Chi would notice. She was a top notch flyer, and part of flying so well involved having a 'sixth sense' for things like people staring at you. She would notice Ayako staring and she would get the confidence she needed to obliterate the loud, boisterous Durmstrang students.
And she would do so elegantly and honorably. Ayako had complete faith in Chi's abilities.
