Arebella noticed Scott getting all nervous when she introduced herself. Maybe he didn't want her to do that? She shrugged it off until he started talking all fast and telling them about her quidditch skills. The Gryffindor boy usdually did this when he was put under stress or maybe he just wanted to brag about her. She put a hand on his shoulder to calm him down. She blushed slightly mostly how he was saying Arebella was going to be an amazing flyer and quidditch player but then a littled part of her was blushing because he was complimenting her in general. Arebella had this special feeling for Scott that he most likely didn't have for her but you can dream... can't you?

"She's going to be a great seeker. Or is it chaser Arebella?"

Scott had asked while blabbering on intensively. "Well I'm hoping for a seeker spot but if I can't get that position I would try beater, and hell maybe even chaser!" She answered jokingly.

"Don't swear! It's unlady-like and makes people feel uncomfortable!"

Arebella's Avô would always scold her for swearing. But Arebella couldn't help it! She had an Irish father and two older brothers. She smiled hoping it didn't make anyone feel uncomfortable even if it was as innocent as 'Hell'.

I think the order's gone to hell, so let's all just post whenever we can. That keeps the thread moving.

Mia laughed at Scott's nervous expression. He had slipped up, and left his friend-or acquaintance-or girlfriend-to fend for herself. Grandmother would scoff. But with just the four of them it was OK. More than OK. Acceptable.

The girl joked around a bit, and Mia laughed slightly, tossing her hair. That was interesting. True, both Scott and her were not ones for quidditch, despite having ties to a professional quidditch player, but maybe he had met her through the sport?

Mia turned to Scott. He seemed nervous still, and a bit exhausted. She shot him a look and raised her eyebrows just a bit so that Arebella wouldn't notice. That would've been a bit uncomfortable.

"Relax. It's just me."

Mia mouthed this at Scott and her eyes sparkled, looking quickly to the girl next to him to see if she noticed. It didn't seem like she did. She continued.

Nervous because of her?

Mia batted her eyelashes in the slightest and smirked a bit, raising her left, perfectly arched, brow. One of her 'signature moves' according to Rachel.

Turning to Arebella, Mia smiled at her kindly, and placed a stand of hair behind her ear.

"That's amazing. I'm actually trying out for chaser myself. Hopefully we get to play against each other one day."

Quidditch... seriously, it's the football of the wizarding world. No one can ever stop talking about it, Ami thought to herself with a grimace. She'd already met Parcel, who'd insisted that Quidditch was the best thing in the world, and now these people were going to talk about Quidditch, too? Jesus.

Not wanting to put her two cents into this particular conversation, Ami turned to face the Great Lake, almost remind one of Anita Radcliffe from 101 Dalmations in the park scene, her profile visible and her hair flowing in the wind. Okay, maybe not exactly like Anita, but pretty close. Watching the water and waves of the Great Lake roll and tumble, Ami tuned out nearly everything about the flying sport.

She didn't have much of a great record with Quidditch, to be fair. A horrendous pick-up Quidditch game, plus spraining her ankle on the broom... not exactly one of the best starts to get off on. But Parcel had offered to teach her about the sport, insisting that she'd love it once she got used to the idea of it, and Ami reluctantly agreed that she'd give the sport a shot. But today, of all days? No, thanks. She'd pass.

Glancing back at the castle, Ami said hurriedly, "Gotta dash to the bathroom, I'll be right back," she promised, and took to her heels, dashing back towards the castle, hair bouncing across her back.
Ami temporarily leaves thread for the bathroom.
Reason: I have a lot of traveling coming up, but once things settle down, she'll come back, promise.

Why do people keep mouthing things to him?

Scott didn't get it. They all shared a perfectly functional language and had equally functional tongues. Still, Mia insisted to, just like Ami, mouth a sentence. Though her eyes were reassuring, so Scott could still sort of imagine the comforting feeling she was trying to share, he knew he wasn't any good at this. It worked, too, and he smiled back- but then she did something very strange as if only to mess with him.

She fluttered with her eyelashes and smirked, arching an eyebrow and hinting at Arabella next to him. Scott blushed furiously. What was that? He cursed himself for not learning how to read lips sooner, and looked from Arabella to his cousin a number of times whilst fidgeting with his long sleeves, trying to see if they were both having some sort of joke.

Arabella still had her hand on his shoulder, so it was possible. Though he didn't think he got it.

"That's amazing. I'm actually trying out for chaser myself. Hopefully we get to play against each other one day."

Scott hoped his smile looked like normal, and not as confused and flustered as he was feeling.
Almost whispering, he chipped in with: "Yes wouldn't that be great."

The two girls kept politely exchanging words. Scott saw that Ami had turned away and wondered if he'd missed another mannerly point. He couldn't have been supposed to introduce her, too, now could he? No. He was even pretending not to know her so that would have been dumb.

"Gotta dash to the bathroom, I'll be right back," She said suddenly, turning back to them. It silenced them for a bit and Scott nodded as she walked past him and back toward the castle.

You know, his brother had often teased him and said that Scott would only make friends with girls at Hogwarts. Scott had actually agreed thoughtfully, saying how that was somehow easier.

But he was wrong. This was strange and tricky and terribly confusing.

Arebella glanced over at Scott. He seemed to be blushing furiuosly which made Arebella smile but so no one could notice. She slipped her hand off his shoulder quickly not wanting to make him uncomfortable thinkung this was the reason he was blushing.

"I'm actually trying out for chaser next year. Maybe we can play against eachother."

The girl, Mia, exclaimed. Arebella grinned at this. She loved competition that's part of the reason why she loved sports. Out of school she would futbol and of course field hockey which she was an MVP for. "Really!?!" She asked delighted. "What house are you in?" She asked again.

Arebella still twidled with her fingers feeling accomplished for being able to have a conversation for this long without suddenly changing the subject or getting distracted by 'The water! And why don't snakes have feet and- STOP! Focus.' She thought scolding herself and pinching her hand with a sigh. Whenever Arebella got distracted or suddenly changed the subject she would pinch herself, even though she can't help it, even though she knows ADHD Attention, Deficit, Hyper, Disorder, does that to her. She took a long breathe and looked back up from her hands to look at Mia. She pulled a hair out of her face the sun hitting her just perfectly.

Ami left and Mia smiled after her.

"See you soon!"

Mia cringed inwardly. That was weird. Why didn't she just go back to the conversation like a normal person?

Mia smiled at Arebella's energy. The girl was practically jumping, and her eyes were sparkling. That was kind of cool. That she was into sports. Scott wasn't-really, or at least not like the other guys.

The girl's eyes unfocused and she looked out at the water, and then twiddled her thumbs. Maybe she had ADHD? Mia thought, tucking her hair behind her ear. She did look easily distracted.

Mia cleared her throat and gazed at the girl, checking her robes.

"Slytherin. I assume that you're in Gryffindor?"

Mia gestured at the bright emblem on the girl's robes that clearly showed her house. She smiled and then moved the flap of cloth that covered her own emblem. It shone bright green and silver against the dark, perfectly clean, cloth of her robes.

Mia then looked at Scott's face. He still seemed a bit confused, like he didn't know what was happening, which was entirely possible. At galas and such they would always sneak away after introducing themselves to the public, bringing along chocolates. If they would get caught then Mia would get them out of trouble. Not him. If she tried to motion or mouth something, he'd get confused. It was just something that he did.

He was glad the girls were getting on. Not that it had once crossed his mind that they wouldn't, he was still happy they were making it easy for each other.

"Slytherin. I assume that you're in Gryffindor?"

Mia tugged on her robes to expose the Slytherin emblem, and unconsciously Scott mirrored her purposes and touched his poorly tied red tie. Surprisingly, houses had struck his mind very little the time he'd spent at Hogwarts. Thinking about it filled him with no particular feeling but curiosity.

"Yeah we're both Gryffindors," Scott said, as if she didn't already know. "you remember, how the same thing would have meant enmity to our parents? Dad tells me he didn't even think of talking to my mum during their years here. But perhaps that's because she's five years older."

Scott mind trailed a bit. In fact, he had been a little worried about this at the very beginning of the year. But then he'd met Mia, and realized there was no way the colour of their ties would mean anything. Now his cousin speaking to his friend was further proof of this. It all gave him a childish sense of calm.

"Still. One of youse will unfortunately have destroy the other." He pointed to the quidditch pitch a distance away and laughed.

With Ami's lengthily long legs, it seemed reasonable that the distance between the grounds and the castle could easily be covered in say, 3 minutes. Another 3 to locate and use the bathroom, and another 2 to head back (the ground sloped downhill, it seemed). All in all, 8 minutes wasn't a bad time at all, considering the size of the grounds and the size of the castle.

Rejoining the motley group in the Grounds, Ami drew near enough just in time to hear Scott laugh and say, "Still. One of you will, unfortunately, have to destroy the other." With a small chuckle, Ami stepped back into the circle the three were making, asking, "What's all this about destroying each other? Surely, it hasn't come to that yet." Tucking her red hair behind her ears, Ami hoped that they weren't still talking about Quidditch. While it was a perfectly fine game, there wasn't all that much to say about it, was there?

The Gryffindors and the Slytherin seemed to be immersed in conversation, however, and Ami immediately regretted opening her mouth in the first place. She got that feeling a lot, nowadays, regretting the things she said. Oh well, it couldn't be helped, could it? She'd just have to learn to think before speaking.

"Course one of yous will have do destroy the other."

Scott had said pointing to the quidditch fields. Arebella had zoned out while Mia and Scott were talking. "Oh yes! But even if I don't win hopefully it will still be fun!" Arebella answered. "Well if I do nake it on the team..." Arebella's voice had trailed off and she started thinking about what her life would be like if she didnt get on the team. She would be miserable that's for sure and probably heartbroken like what happened to her older brother Anthony when he didn't make the team, or that might just have been puberty.

Arebella looked up from hands. "You know I was almost placed in Slytherin. The hat was about to say it until I said I wanted to be with my brothers." Arebella explained. She was kind if happy the hat put her in Gryffindor other than Slytherin. Not that Arebella has anything against Slytherin it's just there are so many bad stereotypes that go along with it. It's like that for all of the houses but Slytherin has the mostand worst. Plus Arebella wouldn't have fit in, She is much too outgoing and brave and has a deathly fear of snakes.

What's all this about destroying each other? Surely, it hasn't come to that yet.

Ami came back, and Mia's face broke into a smile.

You know me! Fiercely competitive!

Mia laughed and shot Arabella a look. She was definitely joking, and she made it clear that she was.

Mia, in fact, was competitive. If some one she knew that she could beat got ahead of her in some way, she was sure to work twice as hard to squash them. She couldn't stand loosing.

Mia shot a glance at Scott. She had always competed with him, trying to outsmart him and be the better one, the more prepared one, the one who had her stuff together. Still. He bested her in almost any way without trying. He was just so..good. Brave. Loyal. Kind. A good friend, through the thick and the thin.

You know I was almost placed in Slytherin. The hat was about to say it until I said I wanted to be with my brothers.

Mia snapped back to attention and listened to Arabella, tucking an auburn strand of hair behind her ear.

She remembered her sorting ceremony. The hat was placed on her head and moments later: poof Slytherin. There really was nothing to it.

I couldn't imagine being anything but Slytherin. I think it suits me.

She let a smile escape from her lips.

I would be a terrible Hufflepuff, wouldn't you agree?
