When studying together goes wrong PV Cece Kravitz Finished

Jul 16, in the afternoon
A while back at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour, Sophie's friend Cece had planned to meet in the Library. And she nearly forgot. Realizing today was the day she was supposed to meet Cece, she rushed to the library. What were they going to do in the library? Maybe Sophie should've thought twice before choosing a place for studying. Cece was a first year and she was a second. They couldn't possibly have the same homework.

Oh well, maybe she could help Cece with her homework since Sophie already knew that stuff but she was afraid that might be considered cheating. She could help her but she couldn't just tell Cece all the answers which Sophie thought would definitely happen. Once they become closer friends and study more together, an answer would slip out of her mouth once or twice and that wouldn't be good.

Sophie sometimes might just be very tired and slip out all the answers to Cece's homework without realising and someone hears their conversation and reports to a professor. She walked up the stairs then up another one. She passed the Charms classroom only realising that the library is on the ground floor, not the third floor.

Now she had to walk all the way back to the first floor, then continue her way down to the ground floor. After walking down the stairs of the second floor, she tried making herself feel better by telling herself that at least her common room wasn't on the fifth floor like the Gryffindor common room was. Finally, reaching the stairs to the ground floor, she started to relax.

Her thoughts shifted back to homework and studying because that was probably the purpose of a library, her first year homework had been quite easy. Or maybe it was because she inherited her mother's brains, her mother had told Sophie that her homework in her first year was very easy. But maybe Sophie hadn't, she only wasn't really good at all the classes but at least she got decent grades.

Sophie realised she was moving slightly slower. She would have reached the library right now if she wasn't lost in her mind. Kicking herself, she walked the last 20 feet to the library. Entering the library then scanning if Cece was there.

Cece walked into the library with a huge smile on her face. She was meeting up with Sophie! They had agreed back at Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor to meet today, and she had been excited to see Sophie again. Sophie was nice, and she was glad to be friends with her. Cece did wonder how studying was going to work, as Sophie was a second year compared to Cece being a first year. Perhaps if she got stuck Sophie could help her? But that wasn’t really fair as she probably wouldn’t be able to help Sophie if she got stuck, as she would be learning things that Cece wasn’t. And Cece rarely got stuck on her homework. Well, anyway, it would be a good opportunity to learn more about Sophie. They could talk while working on their individual homework. Cece decided that when Sophie got there they would figure it out together. With that in mind she scanned the library for Sophie. Not seeing her, Cece found an empty table and went to sit down. She then grabbed her quill, ink, and her homework, and laid them out on the table. She then turned her body towards the entrance to watch for Sophie’s arrival.

Am I late? Just as she was entering the library, a group of people (who were walking slightly faster) caught up with her. There was no chance Cece would see her in this particular group. She passed a Gryffindor girl with blonde hair as she tried getting to Cece. Only to bump into a random Slytherin girl.

"Sorry,"

"You should be,"

The Slytherin girl shot back.

"Ok?"

The girl glared at her. Sophie tried to avoid eye contact but that was impossible. The girl finally decided to leave Sophie alone, which seemed like it took 1 hour for her to do so. Scanning the faces in the library, her gaze got stuck to a girl with short brown hair and glasses that seemed very familiar. Oh wait that's Cece!

Sophie tried walking towards Cece but she smashed her knee to a table and stumbled. Luckily it wasn't loud so it didn't attract any attention. She walked over to Cece with a smile.

"Hi Cece! Is there anything you'd like to work on? Herbology? Charms? Anything like that?"

Maybe that wasn't the best way to greet Cece while the part that was supposed to cover her knee literally fell off. It was a very questionable way to greet a friend but she didn't care whatsoever. Waiting for Cece to reply, Sophie sat down at the table she was sitting at.

Cece beamed at Sophie. “Hi Sophie! I’m pretty good with my homework, but I think I might practice some of the Charms I’m learning in class, so maybe you can give me some pointers on my wand work.” Cece started to dig through her bag to get her notes out, she had made a mark next to the Charms she was struggling with, so those were the ones she would practice. Cece found her notes, set them on the table, and looked back up at Sophie. She then frowned as she looked more closely at her. Cece could see that something was off with her. “Are you okay? You seems little off. I was watching you come in, I saw you bump into that girl from Slytherin. Though it didn’t seem like that hurt you, but I was watching the Slytherin girl walk away so I didn’t see anything after that. Did she say something to you?” Cece knew she was shooting off questions really fast, but she was starting to get worried. Cece knew she had only met Cece once before, but she was already really important to Cece. She waited for Sophie’s reply with anxiety clawing at her chest.

That was not the type of question she expected from Cece. Trying to think about an answer, she decided it was better to just tell the whole story. "I guess I'll tell you everything then," Sophie said. "I was about to enter the library when a group of other students came out of nowhere and they just sort of.." She paused. "Well they just kind of caught me up in the group but I managed to get out, I hardly think they even saw me." Sophie took a deep breath, the next part would probably me even harder to explain.

"Seconds after I got stuck into that group, some Slytherin ran into me- I mean I ran into a Slytherin and I apologised but," She took another deep breath. "Instead of saying 'it's alright' or something like that, she said 'You should be', which isn't something I expected." The last time Sophie bumped into someone was when she was in her first year. The boy she bumped into was very nice, almost the opposite of this weird Slytherin girl.

"And then that kind of did something to me and I crashed into a table and smashed my knee, it doesn't hurt though, it's happened 4 times already." She said, showing Cece the broken part of her pants that was supposed to cover her knee. As she waited for Cece to reply, she started wondering if her story made sense. She really wanted to start hating Slytherin, but she couldn't really do that just because one Slytherin girl just happened to be rude. Maybe she was just having a bad day, or she never bumped into someone before. Well, that wasn't Sophie's business, she just needed to mind her own and she'll be alright. After all, her mom tell her there are some nice Slytherins out there.

Cece’s frown grew deeper and deeper as she listened to Sophie story. “It’s happened four times already? That’s not good, and your pants are literally broken. You’re sure it doesn’t hurt?” As soon as Sophie had shown Cece her knee, Cece had jumped up from her seat and went across the table to stand at Sophie’s side. Cece could tell Sophie was upset from her story, it was pretty obvious. Cece froze as she realized that she was practically mother henning Sophie. She took a step back so that she was no longer right next to Sophie, Cece thought she was being rude by invading Sophie’s personal space. Cece looked at Sophie for a moment and thought of the things that cheered Cece up. Hugs and other sorts of physical affection almost always did the trick for Cece, but she knew that some people preferred not to be touched. Would Sophie like a hug? There was only one way to find out. “Do you want a hug?” Cece asked, speaking quickly. The question probably seemed extremely random to Sophie, who had no idea of the thought process that had led Cece here. What if Sophie didn’t like hugs? That would make the rest of the study session a little bit awkward. But Cece could understand if Sophie didn’t want a hug, her friend Emily from elementary school hated being touched, but her friend David was the complete opposite. She shook herself out of her thoughts and waited nervously for Sophie’s reply.

After those words came out of Cece's mouth, Sophie suddenly felt something she couldn't explain. That was just too much for her. Sophie always thought she could handle her feelings but this was different. Having too many feelings at once felt like torture, well she couldn't blame Cece because it wasn't really her fault, it was probably Sophie's. It was for making Cece feel bad for her.

She looked around. She was sure there was someone who overheard the conversation. Well actually, it was very obvious who overheard their conversation. Now Sophie usually loves places like libraries or classrooms. Places away from water. Now somehow, she didn't feel the same way she did when she visited a library when she was 6. Sophie loved it and stayed there for 3 hours and would've stayed for longer if her dad didn't have an important meeting that day.

Now at the Hogwarts library, Sophie felt different. Then, she noticed some familiar brown eyes watching Cece and her. Not again. Sophie thought. That Slytherin girl was watching them? Seriously? "Could we do it somewhere else in private?" Sophie said to Cece.
The Slytherin girl picked up a bookbag Sophie didn't expect she owned and glared at a Ravenclaw (that wasn't Cece) who was just minding his own business. Then, the Slytherin left.

Even without the Slytherin, the place was still crowded. Sophie tried looking around for a place that was out of view. She saw that same Slytherin standing outside of the library, Sophie glared at her. Girl, if you follow us, I'm telling you, I'm gonna set your house on fire and burn your cat with it. Then, her view shifted to Cece, seeing if Cece had any idea where to go.

Cece followed Sophie out of the library with a frown on her face. The Slytherin girl had been listening to their conversation. God, Cece was an idiot, she was probably talking really loud and attracting attention which had obviously made Sophie uncomfortable. They exited the library and Cece watched as Sophie glared at the Slytherin girl, who was there for some reason. What the the Slytherin girl’s problem? Was she going to try and torment Sophie just because she had accidentally bumped into her? Sophie had apologized! If the girl tried to follow Sophie and Cece, well, she had learned a couple of harmless but annoying jinxes from reading a couple of books in the library. If she casted them she might get in trouble, but as long as it made the girl leave Sophie alone she could handle detention. Sophie was looking at Cece, so Cece instantly started brainstorming ideas they could go. Not towards the Great Lake, in their conversation at Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor, Sophie had said something about feeling safer in the library, so perhaps something had happened to make her scared of the Great Lake? Cece had heard stories about people falling in, perhaps that had happened to Sophie? Or was she afraid of water? Either way, if Cece wanted to take Sophie somewhere she could feel safe, they couldn’t go down. So Cece grabbed Sophie’s arm and started to walk towards the stairs. If they couldn’t go down, they would go up. Cece let go of Sophie’s arm as soon as they got to the stairs. “Sorry, I was thinking of where to go and I wasn’t really paying attention so I kind of just dragged you along.” Cece smiled apologetically at Sophie. “Anyway, I have the perfect place. You said you felt safer in the library when we talked before, so I’m assuming you’ve had some bad experience with either the Great Lake or some body of water in general. Or you’re afraid of water. You don’t have to tell me anything if you don’t want to, but I thought if we couldn’t go down, then what’s up? And it would need to be someplace that would be abandoned too.” Cece smiled. “Perhaps you’ve been to the owners before? You most likely have, almost everyone’s been there, but there’s a secluded little spot that you can get to that I’m pretty sure won’t be in use.” Cece started to walk up the stairs, before turning around and making a ‘come here’ motion with her hand. “Come on!” Cece continued to walk up and up to the west tower, and then to the Owlery. There were a couple of students there, but it didn’t matter. She continued to walk through the Owlery, up and up to the fourth floor of the final platform of the Owlery. After climbing the last staircase, Cece found herself on the overlooking terrace. She took a few steps forward so that Sophie could come up here too, and then turned around to look at her. “Well, what do you think? Pretty cool, right?” She waited for Sophie reply with a big smile on her face.

By the way, you can find information about the terrace I’m talking about in the last paragraph of the Owlery’s description.

Sophie and Cece walked out of the library, Sophie glared sharply at the Slytherin girl. The Slytherin glared back but decided to leave Sophie and Cece alone. If I see you at the Owlery, I'm going to shove you out of the window. Hopefully, Sophie won't have to. Cece walked all the way to the Owlery, Sophie followed. Cece had asked her a few questions on the way, she was still thinking of the answers. "Could I tell you when we get to our whereabouts?"

Cece started to walk up the stairs. Sophie, unaware she heard what she said, followed. They entered the Owlery, "Well what do you think? Pretty cool, right?" Cece asked Sophie. "I think I've been here before! It's the Owlery right? Me and my friend Alice were here, and you are right, it's a pretty great place to hang out!" Sophie said, forgetting all about the Slytherin girl.

She and her friend Alice hung out at the Owlery at the beginning of their Second Year. It was one of Sophie's best memories. She loved places like the Owlery! She shook herself out of her thoughts and focussed on following Cece to the Owlery. She knew they would get good memories there.
