Fantastic people and where to find them
5th August, 2022
Finnegan struggled to take in the sheer, overwhelming size of the campgrounds. The tents, stalls and other attractions formed a huge maze that he'd been getting lost in for the better part of an hour now. Not that he minded, he'd packed lightly and there was something new and exciting around almost every corner. One tent he'd walked into by accident (believing it was the one he ought to be in) had seemed rather small and decrepit from the outside but contained a small jungle on the inside, including a variety of exotic plants that he thought looked rather dangerous.
At times he had to remind himself he wasn't at some freak circus and couldn't help but snigger at some of the ludicrous robes these people wore. A man in bright, salmon-colored robes wearing a feathered cap had tried to make him purchase a very ugly caged bat, but Finnegan didn't think he had much need for one. Besides, if he did get a pet he thought it'd be much more useful to get an owl.
While it was tempting to keep on exploring , his legs were less enthused about dragging on much longer. Somewhere in the back of his mind he still felt like a bit of an outsider, an intruder lost in a world he didn't belong in. He glanced down at his crumpled map in his hand and sighed. There had to be an easier way...
At the far end of the campgrounds near a rather gloomy looking tent he spotted a thin, delicate looking girl with impeccable, flowing locks of strawberry blonde hair. He wasn't entirely sure what had drawn him to her when he halted a few paces behind her and cleared his throat.
"'scuse me miss," he started. "I have a map with me but don't know where the tents are." He glanced around, realized how dumb that sounded and quickly added, "I mean the ones for students. It's a bit of a maze here, innit? And I think someone has been putting the signs around the wrong way..." Pity really, he would've liked to have come up with that first.

Roleplaying as Kheanu Maravilho Mondelez

"Goodbye, Maravilhoso. I'll see you at the end of summer camp."
Kheanu watched fondly as his older brother, Nikolai, disappeared into the white limousine, the soft purr of the engine in the distance announcing his departure. The prompt farewell told Kheanu it was some urgent family business; something he was all too glad he didn't have to deal with. The Mondelez heir's duties are the same tiring, tedious, terse set of diplomatic affairs one would go apoplectic dealing with. Not going insane in the face of such dull company was a superpower only Nikki possessed.
Kheanu's was a different one altogether.
The early morning air carried the sounds of reunited friends and acquaintances and with it, the faint smells of deep-fried food typical to these events. Across the field strewn with tents and tarps of different colors lay the grandiose-looking Quidditch stadium, hulking like its own personal mountain range. Kheanu squints just as the sun—at a very rare, opportune moment—peeks out of the gray London clouds, setting the stadium on a background of bright rays. Laying his bejeweled sunglasses back on his aquiline nose, the boy surveys the scene, leaning back on his sizeable pile of designer luggage.
If it weren't for Broom Racing, I wouldn't even be here.
By now, Kheanu would have been kicking it back with a virgin piña colada at Miami Swim Week 2022, feasting his eyes on the latest swimwear and doing so eagerly. But his duties—like his brother's—urgently called, and he is obligated to answer.
He might as well make the most of it.
And what better way to do it than to go around and break some foreign boys' hearts.
Kheanu chuckled as he threw his long blonde hair over his shoulder. He signed himself up to a mixed tent for a reason, and for the most part, his summer plans seemed to be well underway.
"'scuse me miss..."
The Mondelez boy's smile grew. And right on cue.
"...putting the signs around the wrong way."
Once the newcomer paused in his tirade, Kheanu glided closer and leaned slightly over the boy's shoulder, peering at the map he held in mock interest. A few key areas would be pointed out by a perfectly-manicured fingernail. "I've been to one or two camps before and I'm pretty certain the student tents are this way and this way. I'm going there to find my own tent, as well, and would really love to show you the way, but..." The boy's jewelry would let out a melodic tinkling as he feigned a gentle wipe at his dry brow and a mournful sigh. "...I'm afraid I'm too exhausted from carrying all my bags all morning."
The Durmstrang student moaned pathetically as he gestured at his pile of luggage.
"Oh, if only a knight in shining armor came and took this burden from me. I would be forever grateful." Patting the boy gently on his shoulder, Kheanu would step back, looking him directly in the eye. "But I digress, I wish you luck finding your tent... the same way I wish myself luck in the same department."———

Fantastic people and where to find them
Finnegan frowned when the girl pointed out the location of the pirate themed student tents on the crumpled map. It seemed to be all the way at the other end of the camping grounds from where he was standing now. He puffed his cheeks and let out a deep sigh, "I should've brought me sister, she's a scout, she knows how to read maps. She helped me pack too," he jabbed his thumb over his shoulder at the single backpack he carried with him, crammed to the brim with only the essentials. He'd briefly worried that he might not manage to get everything back in again at the end of the camp, but had soon dismissed the thought. It didn't occur to him that the frightfully elegant girl might not give a hoot about any of the words that came pouring out of his mouth.
Upon the girl's complaint, Finnegan looked up from the map and toward the haphazard hill of trunks next to the gloomy looking tent. "You mean all of that is yours?" his voice cracked at the end in utter disbelief. "Did you bring your entire wardrobe like?"
He had little right to sound quite as accusing as he did, he'd practically done the same, the only difference was that his entire wardrobe fit into a single backpack.
Eyes wide he stepped up to the pile of luggage, scratched the back of his head and tried to think of something helpful to say.
After a moment of deep thought, absolutely nothing came to mind.
While his eyes drifted over the mountain of trunks he caught a glimpse of a name tag and address. Kheanu? Durmstrang? He'd never heard of someone called Kheanu before and didn't know what a Durmstrang was but didn't linger on the thought for long. "Well uh..." he mumbled, "good luck with all that-"
He flinched and shrunk a bit being patted on the back. She was standing rather close to him now and for whatever reason he felt compelled to turn on his heel and meet her penetrating gaze, and now that he was staring at her directly, he found it hard to take his eyes off her. "You don't mean me like do you?" he said, looking rather flustered all of a sudden. Only now did he really notice that the girl was dressed like something of a princess, all of her was on-brand, elegant and of a high quality make. With what little experience he had with camps full of children he vaguely wondered how she intended to keep clean. Maybe that was why she'd brought so many extra clothes.
"Oh, I know, I know!" he exclaimed rather suddenly, "gosh I'm dumb, here" he shrugged off his backpack, rummaged around for a second and proudly spun around, wand in hand. Giddy with excitement he pointed the chestnut wand at the pile of luggage and gave it a rather forceful wave. "Fly!"
A pathetic puff of red sparks eminated from the tip of his wand and vanished just as quickly as his enthusiasm. "I'm sorry, I don't know any spells yet," he muttered apologetically. It was rather a good thing to as he realized with a sudden flush of embarrassment that he wasn't supposed to do magic outside of school anyway.

Kheanu could not fully stifle the chuckle that escaped his mouth as the younger boy commented on his luggage. "Oh 'oney, this isn't even 'alf of my entire wardrobe." The long-haired boy's accent became more apparent in light of his mirth, his Rs elegantly rolling onto one another. "And this is only for this season!" A sudden, soft morning breeze carried away another one of the older boy's melodic laughs across the sunlit campground. "If I brought my entire wardrobe, we would 'ave to relocate these tents to another venue!"
Were the boy any other older student, he would have been met with more ridicule than a patronizing laugh—this particular Mondelez took fashion very seriously. But as it stands, Kheanu weirdly finds children's ignorance endearing. Kind of similar to untrained puppies tripping over their own feet. Being the youngest in the family, it felt moderately good to be the one with more wisdom on a topic, for once.
"Oh grazie, bello thank you, handsome. While I h'appreciate the sentiment..." Kheanu began as the boy inquired whether or not he was expected to carry the pile of luggage. "...it is a tall order to ask you to carry all of th—" His platitudes were interrupted by the boy's sudden exclamations.
"Know what?" As the boy from Durmstrang realized what he was doing, his eyes went comically wide. Flashbacks to a traumatic experience involving expensive Cartier sunglasses, haphazardly-thrown luggage, and unruly Durmstrang kids ran across the forefront of his mind. "No, h'wait—!" Kheanu reached out as if to grab the boy's outstretched wand, but he was too late. (Though, even if he wasn't, the boy really was not sure if his delicate fingers could easily pry the magic implement even out of a young boy's hands. He was self-aware of his strength—or lack of it).
He screwed his eyes shut, preparing for the sharp sounds of his toiletries breaking or even his precious mirror-covered bodysuit he was saving for a rainy day shattering into a million smaller pieces. However, after hearing what the boy called out as an "incantation", Kheanu let out a relieved, shaky breath, eyes snapping open. "Mio Dio! Good Lord!, please keep that... thing away!" The boy clutched his non-existent pearls as he stared, revolted, at the boy's wand, inert at the moment.
If he wasn't so scared, the situation would have been extremely hilarious.
"Lawsuits are a bit tedious and I do not think you..." He'd give the boy a thorough once over before continuing, rubbing his forehead in his stress. "...can afford to pay for anything you break." Fanning his face, Kheanu would take his own wand out and whisper a Wingardium Leviosa at a bag at least three-fourths the size of the other boy, this one only containing his fabric and knit tops—safe and non-breakable.
"If you want to make yourself useful, you can carry this." He would then levitate the bag towards his companion and if he would reach out to receive it, unceremoniously drop it onto his arms. Otherwise, he'd float it back down.
"Just... please. No more attempts at magic."
Unlike the younger boy, Kheanu had no qualms squandering his magic then and for the rest of the Summer Camp. Besides, they were all allowed to do it this time around. How else would they get in last-minute practice for all the magical sports they were entering?———

Fantastic people and where to find them
Finnegan could not believe that the veritable mountain of bags, trunks, and other bits of luggage was only half her wardrobe. Nothing fitted him exactly, except his school robes, the only new clothes he'd gotten for a long time. Though he had taken only his best clothes with him, the ones with the fewest holes or tears and those whose colors hadn't faded entirely, it was evident that most had come straight out of a sale basket.
The girl probably had more clothes than there were days in the year to wear them. She had to be immensely wealthy, Finnegan thought to himself while he tried to place her accent. It wasn't British; that much was certain; maybe she was French? It seemed likely; she was quite pretty and frail looking after all.
While he mused to himself, the girl sized him up with a once-over and concluded that he was far too poor to reimburse her should he break anything, which she apparently thought highly likely. Regrettably, she had a point. His wand-waving had only produced sparks, bangs, flashes of light, and puffs of smoke, which could damage her seasonal wardrobe. Considering that she was more effective at magic, he thought it best not to upset her further. Instead, he gawked at how effortlessly she managed to make one of the bags float in the air.
With a groan, Finnegan caught the bag in his outstretched arms. His knees buckled under the sudden weight while heat rushed to his cheeks. The girl looked aghast though he was unsure what caused her more concern, his failed magic or carelessness. Regardless, he figured he owed her his help to make things right again.
"Aye, no more magic," he replied, sounding flustered. If she hadn't dropped her bag into his arms, he would've pocketed his wand as a gesture of peace, but he didn't dare to move and risk breaking all the porcelain she had packed. At least, he imagined the bag contained something of the sort, considering how heavy it was. She had probably brought a luxury tea set in colors matching her current outfit, or maybe it was just a bag full of shoes.
Unable to look at his map, or anything, to be frank, Finnegan cleared his throat to get her attention. "Which way, exactly?"
