Sophia would never get used to the relative cold of the United Kingdom, even in the summer.

"Bring a coat, Sophia, don't want ye to be catchin' a dose, now do we?" Gramma Collins had instructed from their home in Cork. Sophia, however, seeing her grandma in her lack of a jacket, had insisted that she could handle it. It was summer, after all, and July at that! Her gramma had simply rolled her eyes, called Sophia a 'right eejit' and walked on outside.

Now, here they were, with Sophia suffering the sixty degree weather in the early summer morning Scottish highlands. It wasn't even that cold, but compared to the eighty-ninety degree summers back home, it was freezing.

Sophia fidgeted uncomfortably in her shorts. She normally preferred skirts, but Gramma had insisted she wear shorts instead since she'd be 'roughin' it up with the Scots boyo,' so she'd worn the first pair of shorts she'd worn for a purpose other than sleeping in well over three years, and they were very, very uncomfortable. She missed her skirts.

She had a long, woolen skirt that would be just perfect for the - relatively - slight chill in the air. She could be so warm right now, but she was freezing. Sure, that was a bit dramatic, but the fact still stood that it was quite chilly for summertime to Sophia.

At least she wasn't alone, in her suffering. Pax, Hiro, and Gramma Collins had all accompanied her. When she'd mentioned a wedding at a Scottish friend's house, her Grandma hadn't even seemed surprised. It had been as if she'd known about it already. It wasn't often that she got to bring her magic friends and her grandma together, so she was going to enjoy it.

Plus Pax had come too! They'd had some fun together early in the summer, exploring Pax's home and and -despite her early shyness - Sophia had quickly warmed up to Pax's family. Especially their brothers.

Hiro had managed to stick to her side like butter on a biscuit. They had this unspoken routine during holiday breaks in which they just sort of assumed they'd be hanging out together. Thankfully, Hiro had hit it off with her grandma, so that wasn't a problem. She seemed to be happy to see him as just one of the kids at her house.

According to the letter Colin had sent, they were to meet AngelFyre here at the station in Tain, and Colin and his grandma would arrive soon after. Well, maybe they'd been a bit early, but Sophia was eager to get going, if only to escape the unbearable temperature.

With her backpack full of clothes slung over her shoulder, Sophia sidestepped closer to Pax, trying to subtly share body heat with the demigirl. She wouldn't outright try to hug or cuddle with Pax for warmth, given her assumption of the demigirl's dislike for physical contact, but this was better than nothing.

She wondered vaguely if Hiro was accustomed to the cold. Wasn't Japan a pretty cold country?

She ignored the sly look her grandma gave her as they waited for AngelFyre and Colin to arrive.

Trains had definitely become AngelFyre's favorite way to travel. It was so much easier to board than any plane trip she had ever taken, and the wait was so much less once one arrived at the train station. Then once you were aboard, the gentle rhythm of the train car traveling along the tracks was quite soothing, as was the clacking sounds of the wheels on the tracks. The windows were so much larger and gave beautiful views of the countryside. And there was more room. The routes she had taken were not heavily traveled, so she had generally had her choice of where to sit. The trip to Tain was no different. She could be sociable or revert to her quiet self. No surprise here. Silent AngelFyre bubbled to the surface.

She was traveling alone, which utterly shocked her, but her father was out of country on business and her mother had a photo shoot that she could not re-schedule. And boy had she tried. After much discussion between daughter and mother and then additional contact with Colin's family, obtaining plenty of assurances of who knows what, she had been given permission to travel by herself. It also helped to remind her mother and Grandma Ruth that she was a witch and actually knew some magic. If anyone presented a danger, she felt like she might offer up a surprise or two.

AngelFyre was tickled pink it had all worked out. School had only been out a few days and she was surprised at how much she missed everyone. Her special someone most especially, but cell phones were remarkable things. She assumed her mother had reached Colin's family on a cell phone, but Colin's life seemed a combination of old and modern. She would need to check upon arrival to see if cells worked at his home... estate... castle. The boy lived in an honest to God castle. AngelFyre was dying to see the place. Going to school at a castle was one thing. Honest to goodness living in one was a whole other ball game. Or so she assumed. She had been wrong before.

AngelFyre started to gather her bag and her enchanted satchel as the train was pulling into Tain. The countryside was not too dissimilar to Hogwarts, but no surprise there... both were in the Highlands. She was eyeing the platform for any familiar faces. She saw a small grouping, but no one she recognized. There was a girl with blu-- wait! Blue hair!?! AngelFyre giggled and quietly uttered, "Well alright, Sophia! You go, girl!"

Giggling and looking forward to a grand time, AngelFyre hurriedly stepped off the train and made her way over to the small group. The only person she knew was Sophia, so she started there. "Hi, Sophia. I love the new hair color! It looks great on you." Then looking at the others, she smiled at them and said, "Hello. I am AngelFyre, but please call me AF. I hope I did not keep you waiting long."

The group did not look particularly happy. In fact, Sophia looked like she was freezing. AngelFyre could not swear to it, but there may have been the subtle sound of teeth chattering. "Sophia, I have a fleece jacket in my satchel here. Would you like to borrow it? You look rather chilled."

The day had come at last! It hadn't even been a week since Colin bade farewell to Sophia, Gem, Pax and AngelFyre in London and now he was going to see them again, along with Kim! He'd invited them to come up to his place for a few days for a visit. And wouldn't McCoire House be packed this week! What with his Ma's usual work with the Ministry and now his older sister Moira's wedding, there would be a riotous mob of family, kin, visitors, tourists and friends all descending on the ancient house.

Now it was just a matter of getting his friends to the house --- and that meant a bit of a road trip!

Colin had looked on a map and knew that McCoire House to Tain was fifty miles as the wolf runs, and he knew that this wolf would be running the A-836. It was a comfortably uninhabited road, occasioned mostly by muggle adventurers who rode on this kind of mechanical horse with wheels. Sort of like his Seanmamó's motor car, their machines roared with the same kind of life; but they never stopped on their journey --- muggles never suspected that they were traversing wizarding lands! Colin had actually been down to the Road several times, watching from the trees like some feral creature observing the territory of another, rival pack. He'd crossed the Road once, just to say he'd gone to the other side, but soon realised the accomplishment was a bit of a joke.

And now he was zipping along the Road with his Seanmamó behind the wheel. She wore a long and patched leather jacket, an old steel helmet painted black and green, broom flying goggles and a long and ancient Ravenclaw scarf. Colin felt a little more at ease during the trip down to Tain, in part because he knew he'd be meeting Fyre Angel and Pax and Sophia; but also because there were no other motor cars on the road. They did meet a pack of those roaring horses, but Seanmamó only stood up with her arms spread wide --- and Colin felt inspired to do the same! He roared at them as they scattered to left and right before the ancient motor car! He felt like a knight of the old time, riding down the armies of the Liche King and sending them to flight!

Colin thought he caught a twinkle in her youthfully ancient eyes. "Better than driving in London, right laddie!"

"Aye!" As they tore around the curves and blew through Lairg and Bonnar Bridge, Colin began to feel a little braver about being inside a motor car. His heart hammered the way it does when he thought of Jarael --- fast and strong! --- and as the motor car roared along the Dornoch Firth and into Tain, Colin felt positively mad with excitement!

As they rolled along the high street, Seanmamó took up an old war song and Colin joined in! They got some queer looks from the younger muggles, as they looked up from the wee boxes they held in front of their faces, but several of the older folks understood and smiled. They may not have understood magic or wizards, but they understood the common language of the free spirit, and here were two examples as if roaring out of the pages of an old book or off the tongue of a teller of ancient tales.

"Owoooooooooo!!!"

Colin cried out as the motor car skidded to a halt right in the middle of the wee car park outside of the railway station. Colin leapt up onto the seat to see if he could see anyone familiar; then hopped out of the motor car.

It had been a fun summer.

The best part of it was that it wasn't even over! Hiro was having more fun than he'd ever had before.

People actually liked him being around, instead of just putting up with him being there. It was a new and strange feeling for him to experience. Earlier that summer, he'd gone with Red and Not, discovering that Not was not actually her name for the first time. The girl's name was actually Sage, like the herb. But Hiro was so used to thinking of her as Not that he kept reverting back to it often. It hadn't helped that Sage hadn't corrected him the first time they'd met, so he'd had lots of time to associate that name in his mind when it came to Red's really good friend.

Attending mass with Red and Not had been a little... awkward, he'd realized Sage had been a little disturbed and Hiro himself didn't know how to react to the service. The topic that day had been... Hiro shook his head as he focused on the present time. Red had told him all three of them, Red, Hiro and her grandmother, were meeting up with a few friends and heading over to some kind of wedding. Not hers. He'd nodded and gone with the girl when those people showed up at their door. The pink haired boy had welcomed all of them with open arms, quite literally.

Hiro was a very touchy person.

The boy was wearing a pastel pink outfit, that matched with his currently pink hair. He'd dyed it pink again.

Red had told him last time that she'd loved the pastel pink outfit he'd worn before. And since he'd be spending the summer with her, he'd chosen to don the same apparel again. Hiro had also brought a few other outfits with him but didn't have much in the way of belongings. Even though his parents made a lot of money, that didn't apply to him as he was expected to pretend he didn't belong to them. As a result, Hiro had almost no money, no belongings and very few clothes. It was kind of ironic, a boy who came from a fairly well-off family, who was actually poorer than anyone.

The only time his parents 'accepted' the fact that he lived with them was when the school required them to do so. Otherwise, they just wanted him to stay away as much as possible. They accepted all school letters, anything requiring registration and materials students needed from their parents. But they treated it like a business venture, rather than a personal matter. If Hiro had nowhere to go during breaks or summer time, they would hope he might go see his friends and spend time there. But if he had nowhere to go at the time, they'd let him to stay at the manor.

And just avoid seeing him as much as possible.

After all, he was still their biological son, even if they didn't like seeing him as it brought up bad memories.

As Red and Not engaged in conversation with their friends, Hiro stayed back from them for a time. It wasn't because he didn't want to jump into the midst of things but Red's grandma was there. And he liked the older woman. She made him feel happy and he felt close to her, it was kind of like the grandma he'd always wanted to be around but never got the chance to do so. The older woman's accent was quite homey and Hiro felt like he was being wrapped in a warm embrace by her each time she spoke. That pretty girl with long brown hair, AngelFyre, seemed rather nice.

She'd offered Red a coat to keep her warm earlier. And that out of control boy, Colin, he seemed like a lot of fun to be around and Hiro couldn't wait to interact with him later on! The energy levels of both of them combined would be insane. Once there was a lull in the conversation, Hiro smiled at both and inclined his head towards them. "Hey, it's nice to meet friends of Red! I'm Hiro." He told the two newcomers that he hadn't yet met before. The only reason he knew their names was because Red had told him beforehand who they were expecting to arrive to meet.

As per usual, Pax was late.

They'd just about managed to shove what they thought was everything they could need into their bag, though they weren't fully sure. They'd never visited Scotland before, only hearing about it from their father, and even then he'd only ever visited the cities of Scotland, not the true mountainous areas where the McCoire family resided.

It had been a fun road trip up to Tain from London as well, with their father volunteering to drive them since he was going to a conference in Scotland anyways. They barely had time to spend with their father, so they took every chance they could get.

"Have fun, Pax!" Their father called as they grabbed their bags from the boot of the car. "Don't pull anything stupid like you usually do!"

"Rude!" They retaliated. "Have fun at the work meeting or whatever!"

They hugged their father once more, and waved goodbye as he drove away out of the small town. Once they could no longer see him, they turned away to find their friends, flinging their red bag on their back.

It didn't take too long to spot the group chaotic mess of their friends, especially with (previously Ginger Snaps) Blueberry's now blue hair. Of course, it seemed they were the last one there.

"Hey!" They called, jogging over. "Blueberry! Col! Hiro...? How are you all?" They reached them and hugged the three enthusiastically.

Suddenly, they halted. Blinking to make sure this was actually the person they thought, Pax bit their lip to stop from saying anything. "Angelfyre."

Personally, they had never interacted with the Hufflepuff girl. However, Pax was friends with Haley, the victim of a love story between herself, Angelfyre, and Simon Kincaid. And although they tried not to be one to judge on first impressions, they couldn't help but stare intently at her. Similar thoughts as to when themself and Haley had last been talking about the break-up emerged, about how they were comfortable beginning a relationship on the rubble that was Haley and Simon's.

They did manage to hold themself from saying anything unkind to the girl, though they did have plenty of potentially harsh questions to ask. "So, when are we getting going?" They clasped their hands together, looking expectantly at Colin with a strained smile.
Clarifying, I have no problems with AF OOC, they seem very nice :). IC Pax is unsure/a little hostile because of what they know from Haley IC.

As soon as Colin leapt down from the motor car, he caught sight of two of his best friends --- AngelFyre and Sophia! The former's long golden-brown hair and knowing expression were unmistakable; the latter --- well, her shock of red hair used to be umistakable, but now her hair was bright blue! Even if she weren't standing next to AngelFyre, Colin would have presumed that the blue hair girl was indeed Sophia! "Fyre Angel! Ging --- er. Sophia!" Even though his usual nickname for her, Gingersnaps, no longer seemed appropriate, he'd embrace her all the same. As he greeted his friends, his Seanmamó introduced herself to the lady who could only be Grandma Collins, Sophia's Gran from Cork.

"Ah, and you must be our Sophia's gran. Penelope, right?" She bowed towards the younger woman. "Pleased to meet you at last and in person, after exchanging letters the last while! Please, call me Esme. I only use Moira for official stuff." Turing towards the girls, she gave Sophia a long look first. "Och, laddie! Surely this ain't Gingersnaps! Ye said Sophia was a redhead, a 'real carrot top' I believe were your words! Heh! Lassie looks more like a blueberry cupcake!" Colin could only shrug --- he'd been expecting a red haired girl, too! But his Seanmamó's laugh was merry and she winked at Sophia. "But who am I to deny a pretty girl her hair colour, eh!" She turned her own head this way and that so Sophia and AngelFyre could see the gradation from deep purple on the left where it swooped up like a cloud, through ever lighter pastels, fading into gradations of light blue, ending at last in twirled wisp of the palest platinum blonde.

Turning towards AngelFyre, she took a quick look and then raised her eyebrow at Colin. He could only shrug and raise both eyebrows in response. "Aye, lad. I see what ye mean wi this one. Hmm." She nodded to herself. "I think both of you shall enjoy your time with us." As she turned away from the kids with a smile, she stared deeply into AngelFyre's eyes, as if trying to read what lay behind them. She nodded to herself again, whispering something about fools and bards. To Penelope she said: "Come my dear! Let's let the wee bairns catch up!"

Colin's eyes widened as his Seanmamó spoke to each of his friends. "Whoa," he said when she'd gone off with Sophia's Gran; "did --- did she, you know, look into you, FyreAngel? I think she can, you know, like read people's minds! I mean --- how can she always tell that me and Liam are getting into trouble!? It's uncanny!"

Then a very strange sight indeed came before Colin's eyes. A boy all in pink! "Hey, it's nice to meet friends of Red! I'm Hiro."

"Oh, wicked! You're Ging --- er --- You're Blueberry Cupcake's friend?" He narrowed his eyes at Sophia. "Did she give you some kind of pink potion to drink!?" He nodded towards the other boy. "Anyway, I'm Colin --- good to meet you!"

At last, Colin heard a third familiar voice call out: "Hey! Blueberry! Col! Hiro...? How are you all?"

"Hunter!" Colin cried, returning his demisister's hug. "I'm glad you're all here at last!" Colin wondered why Huntere seemed uncomfortable around AngelFyre. He looked around the platform and checked under the benches to make sure no one was hiding. Because, you never know! He shrugged. "Looks like we're all here!"

"So, when are we getting going?" Pax said.

Colin laughed. "Heheh! You're the last one here, Hunter, and you want to be the first to leave! Well, come you lot! Mustn't keep Hunter waiting!"

And with that he turned away from the railway platform and headed back towards the motor car that would soon take them away from all cities and tamed places and transport them in an older, wilder and more magical place.

Sophia was shivering as she huddled up to Hiro. He was her beacons of warmth in the chilling landscape of Scotland.

Part of her blamed her accursed blue hair for her icy condition, but she knew that didn't actually make a lot of sense. It wasn't as if her old red hair had actually been warmer despite its fiery appearance. Still, even looking at her blue hair made her think of the cold, so maybe the psychological damage was bad enough.

She shivered a bit more as she scooted closer to her friends.

A voice calling from the distance caught her attention. It was a fellow Hogwarts student! She'd seen the girl around before - usually in Colin's circle - but what was her name? After the girl offered a quick compliment to Sophia's new hair, Sophia's eyes widened and she offered a silent 'thanks' under her breath. She still couldn't remember the girl's name, but her face was utterly unforgettable.

Her turmoil came to an end when the girl introduced herself to Hiro and Pax. Ah. AngelFyre. AF, as Kim liked to refer to her. That was her name! Sophia never was all that good at names, unfortunately.

As the girl offered Sophia a jacket - bless her sweet heart - Sophia's attention was pulled to a terribly loud racket just outside the station. It didn't take much to notice the source: Colin wandered into the crowds and toward their small ragtag group, calling out to them all. Sophia suppressed a giggle when he interrupted his own 'Gingersnaps' to call her by her actual name. The blue hair had some benefit, after all!

"Ah, and you must be our Sophia's gran. Penelope, right? Pleased to meet you at last and in person, after exchanging letters the last while! Please, call me Esme. I only use Moira for official stuff."

Grandma Collins didn't return the bow - it wasn't her style - but she did pull the other older woman into a tight hug.

"Indeed i' 'tis, Esme, though me frien's call me Penny. Thank ye fer allowin' us into yer home. Liddle Soph's been cha'in' up a storm about yer Colin in all her ledders," Mamaw said, and Sophia had to stifle a giggle at her accent. It was always quite a bit thicker when she spoke to older people.

The older woman addressing Sophia's grandma had to be the famous Seanmamó she'd heard so much about from Colin. From the discussions, Soph had assumed her to be a wise older woman with a love for potions and knowledge far and wide. It seemed as if she'd been quite right, based on appearance alone. Esme was quite the pretty name.

As if reading her thoughts, the older woman turned her wizened gaze to Soph and stared at her for a long while.

"Och, laddie! Surely this ain't Gingersnaps! Ye said Sophia was a redhead, a 'real carrot top' I believe were your words! Heh! Lassie looks more like a blueberry cupcake!"

Sophia offered a glare to Colin - Carrot top, indeed! - and crossed her arms as the boy shrugged. At Esme's description of her, she gave an exasperated look. What was with everyone and describing her with food? Why couldn't they call her Poseidon, or something cool? Blueberry Cupcake wasn't even a little intimidating. It sounded like a character from My Little Pony!

"But who am I to deny a pretty girl her hair colour, eh!"

Her frustration died with the merry laughter Esme returned to her. Fine. It was okay for her to compare Sophia to food, but she'd have to stand up to others, lest it become a habit of her friend group.

After addressing AF, Colin's grandma dragged Sophia's grandma off to let the 'barns catch up,' whatever that meant. Was she a farmer too, or something?

"Whoa, did --- did she, you know, look into you, FyreAngel? I think she can, you know, like read people's minds! I mean --- how can she always tell that me and Liam are getting into trouble!? It's uncanny!"

That was a scary thought. Was that something all older Irish and Scottish women could do, or was it a magic specific thing? If so, Sophia was thankful her grandma was a muggle. She couldn't imagine if her grandma could read her mind like Professor X or something.

"M-maybe she's just a good judge of character? I mean, I could tell lots about you when we first met, you know?" Sophia offered.

Pax finally arrived and - after calling Sophia Blueberry of all things! - began rushing the group out as fast as they'd arrived. What was with the hurry? They had plenty of time.

As Colin led them all out to the car - which was thankfully a muggle car, at least - Sophia's eyes widened at the automotive beast that lay dormant before them. She wasn't a car expert, not by any means, but the car in front of her was beautiful in its antiquity.

Ever since coming to Hogwarts, Sophia had been attacked by disadvantage after disadvantage. She was horrible at Charms, Transfiguration went over her head in the practical sense, Defense Against the Dark Arts terrified her, and Flying made her cry. This, though? This muggle contraption? This was in her wheelhouse. She was a muggle born and raised. Driving this car was her destiny.

That, and she was quite afraid to be a passenger in a car. Public transit was one thing. Trains, busses, airplanes - despite her fear of heights - weren't as scary for Sophia as riding as a passenger in a normal automobile. She'd watched her parents die inside of one just a few short years ago, after all. She couldn't stand the fear that came with riding in a car alongside others.

To drive one, however? To be in complete control of the mechanical monstrosity that was so capable of bringing death just as surely as it could bring travelers to their destination? That level of control wasn't something Sophia wanted. It was something she needed.

As the group reached the two older women, Sophia suddenly interrupted whatever they were talking about.

"Miss Esme," she said with fire in her eyes and fear in her heart. "Can I drive, please?"

The first thing she noticed when she approached the group, after offering her fleece jacket to Sophia, was that the girl had the momentary uncomfortable look as if she was looking at someone she had seen before but had not a clue who was talking to her. AngelFyre smiled outwardly and laughed internally. She was pretty certain Colin had told her that Sophia would be at the station with her Gran to meet her, but maybe he neglected to tell Sophia whom she was meeting? Doubtful. AngelFyre determined she would just need to do more to not be so dreadfully forgettable.

A bright spot saved her when she noticed the boy with the beautiful smile and lovely pink hair. He had been hanging back but came forward after AngelFyre introduced herself to him and to Sophia's Gran. This fellow was clearly a free spirit and AngelFyre just liked him immediately. Already this trip looked as if it was going to bear fruit if for no other reason than meeting Hiro.

As they stood there and introductory pleasantries had been made, AngelFyre was soaking in Sophia's Gran's splendid Irish accent when it was suddenly drowned out by the unmistakable sounds of backfires and motor knocks as a very vintage sounding vehicle pulled into Tain's small parking lot. The rattling death throes of the engine continued long after it had been turned off, and it's last gasp was punctuated by one last black belch of exhaust while Colin's recognizable"Owoooooooooo!!!" rang out across the brisk afternoon air. AngelFyre smiled delightedly at the whole entrance of their hosts. It reminded her of an old muggle movie, 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' for some reason.

Colin and his seanmamó climbed up to the platform, and grins and laughter and happy smiles were spread all around as the person who had brought them all together joined the group. AngelFyre first noticed, Colin, of course because that was just a heart pull thing, but his seanmamó took her breath away. In so many ways, she reminded AngelFyre of her Grandma Ruth. She knew from Colin she was fairly up there in years, but like her Grandma Ruth, she had aged with a great deal of grace and beauty. AngelFyre simply could not take her eyes off of her and when seanmamó bowed to Sophia's Gran, and Sophia's Gran grabbed in her up in a big hug, AngelFyre bounced on her feet in delight.

Then the woman turned her attention to Sophia and herself, and the topic of hair color rose to the top. Expecting to see Sophia's previous and gorgeous fireside red mane, she was shocked to see the equally lovely blue. When she turned to showoff her own unique hombre hair coloring, AngelFyre could not help but oooh and ahhh.

And then.

Then seanmamó briefly looked her over and said something to Colin about understanding what he meant. Seanmamó then turned to Sophia's Gran, but turned back and looked deeply into her eyes. It was not for long, but AngelFyre felt as if she was sharing space with someone else in her own mind for the very first time. The two spoke no words anyone else would have been able to hear, but AngelFyre could clearly hear Seanmamó. One would have thought it would have felt like an invasion, but it was quite the contrary. It felt warm and comforting.... like someone taking her hand and showing her the way. It felt like their time was so long together, but when the eye contact broke, AngelFyre knew it had been but a mere few seconds.

She looked to Colin, in stunned amazement, and all she could manage was a silent nod as he asked if his seanmamó had just read her mind. At least I think that is what that was.

Breaking her out of that little reverie was the appearance of yet one more student. AngelFyre had seen the girl around school, but did not know her at all, or her name. Colin greeted in her delight and called her Hunter, so that is what her name must be, but then confusion set in as she heard others refer to her as Pax. Now that name she had heard before.

AngelFyre stood back and watched the happy reunion between the friends, and was about to introduce herself when Pax turned her eyes to her, and the girl's joyous expression turned first to one of surprise and then most obviously to one of restrained hostility. To her own surprise, the girl spoke only one word, but it answered everything for AngelFyre immediately. Pax, completely unknown to AngelFyre, was definitely aware of her. The only word she spoke was AngelFyre's name, and it was spoken very flatly, but AngelFyre did not miss the anger flashing in the girl's eyes.

Not a dim girl by any stretch, AngelFyre immediately put it together that this had to be a friend of Haley's. There was no other reason for the girl to act this way towards her as AngelFyre was certain they had never interacted before. Looking back at the girl, holding her gaze, but softening her own look so as to not further antagonize her, AngelFyre smiled as it was a natural thing for her to do when meeting people, and she chuckled a bit, "Well normally this is where I would say, 'Hello. I am AngelFyre McCubbin, but please call me AF'. It seems, however, you have me at a disadvantage. It is, truly, nice to meet you though. Any friend of Colin has to be aces in my book," and AngelFyre meant it.

The girl looked like she had a biting comment or two to make, but she held herself back. Would she always? AngelFyre would not press the matter, but she would not shy away from it if the girl were to pursue it further. Honestly, she was surprised it had taken this long to encounter someone face to face who might hold a bundle of negative feelings for her on Haley's behalf. Whatever was to come of this, if anything, AngelFyre was determined not to spoil anyone's celebratory happiness because of it. She was smiling at Pax as the girl simply turned to Colin, seeming to be most agitated as she asked if it was time to go.

AngelFyre shot a warm smile to Colin and picked up her bags. Following the group out to the car, she was wondering if the car was enchanted. It was vintage and large, but there were a lot of people and their luggage to fit in a finite space. One thing was certain. She would not be seating herself next to Pax.
OOC: No worries! Writer me is not upset that Pax, IC, has negative feelings towards AngelFyre and did not worry that it carried to feelings OOC, which would also be fine. Everyone usually cannot like everyone. 🙂

Also @Pax Zhang, I am not purposefully ignoring Pax's preference to be referred to as them/they. Since AF in character does not know Pax, it would not be her thought to use those pronouns when seeing a girl. When she is corrected or overhears Pax referred to as such, she will show the proper respect on that front. AF is not being passive aggressive or purposefully rude.

Colin smiled when Sophia glared at him. His chosen sister always looked so cute when she was on about something. Like a wee blue teapot whistling madly! Somehow Sophia seemed a lot taller when they'd first met, but Colin realised that she must have been shrinking. Like Alice after drinking the shrinking potion.

He had to laugh though, when Sophia said: "M-maybe she's just a good judge of character? I mean, I could tell lots about you when we first met, you know?"

"Heheh!" But the laughter quickly ended with a surprised gasp. "Hey! What's that supposed to mean? You weren't reading my mind, were you Soph?" His eyes widened. He turned towards AngelFyre and noticed how she seemed --- not lost in thought, but somehow changed. Like she had learned something new and was thinking about it. He'd have to talk to her later about that! Had his Seanmamó somehow connected with AngelFyre?

"You okay, lass?" he asked, as they got to the motor car at last. She looked like a Ravenclaw that had just learned they invented a fifth branch of transfiguration or something. Her eyes were all filled with wonder!

And then it was Sophia's turn to stand speechless! Only, Colin noted, it was nothing magical that so absorbed her attention. No, far more prosaic indeed! She looked like she'd just fallen in love! Sophia had just fallen for his Seanmamó's 1925 Morris Oxford in Ravenclaw blue! Suddenly the usually somewhat timid Sophia was gone, for in her eyes was a gleam almost maniacal! He knew she hated flying, but now she looked like a girl in desperate need of jamming the velocitator all the way down! He wasn't certain exactly how magical the ancient machine was, but he had felt its subtle siren call, its own desire to run flat out along the narrow lanes of the Highlands! Clearly it had put a spell on Sophia as well; and she even asked his Seanmamó if she could drive! Colin was impressed!

Colin's mouth dropped open at the very suggestion of Sophia Nelson driving the ancient motor car, but his Gran said: "Shut up yer gob, lad, lest the flies set up housekeeping!" She turned towards Grandma Penny with a conspiratorial look, saying: "Onyway, the auld machine nearly drives itself! That's a brave lassie you've got there, Penny. A regular Aoife if I ever saw one! Never let it be said Irish lassies are weak in the knees! Balls o brass that lass! Shall we repair to the lounge in the back, my dearie? Very comfortable seats, if I do say so myself! And do help yourself to some refreshments! Alright yez wee bairns! We've some room in back if ye don't mind settin with the auld grannies!" She gave Sophia an appraising look but said only: "Well be a good lass and hop in! Colin'll get her fired up for yiz!"

Colin opened the door so that the two Grans and everyone could get in, and as they settled in, he shoved everyone's bags and things into the boot and then gave the motor a couple good cranks to get it started. "YEEEP!!!" With a startled cry Colin leapt up onto the fender, clinging to the large and baleful looking lantern on the left side of the roaring beast. He began shouting "DECELERATRIX SOPH!! DECELERATRIX!! I ain't in yet! I hope everyone else is!" At last Colin managed to slide along the running board before diving into the front seat. "Owooooooooooo!" he cried out as he landed on someone's lap! "Oof!" He wasn't sure whose, yet, but was simply glad that Sophia didn't actually run him down before she got out of the car park!

"Well normally this is where I would say, 'Hello. I am AngelFyre McCubbin, but please call me AF'. It seems, however, you have me at a disadvantage. It is, truly, nice to meet you though. Any friend of Colin has to be aces in my book."

Pax's scowl lessened so slightly. Damn those Hufflepuffs and their consistently nice temperament. "Pax Zhang," they replied quickly. "Pronouns are they/them. Rather you didn't refer to me as anything else, thank you."

"Heheh! You're the last one here, Hunter, and you want to be the first to leave! Well, come you lot! Mustn't keep Hunter waiting!" Colin giggled.

Pax shot one more look (not of hostility this time, more just of caution) at AngelFyre before grabbing their bag and taking a quick seat in the shotgun seat. They had arrived so full of energy, but it had depleted with a snap of their fingers.

They wished they'd stolen borrowed Nico's headphones to block out all the noise, even if they didn't actually work. The one day they felt like hiding away, they couldn't. Instead, they had to be surrounded by the craziest people, two of which they didn't even like all that much.

Rolling down the window, they tried to take in the peace and beauty of the surrounding scenes of Scotland, but with the yells and screams in the background, it was becoming increasingly more difficult. Plus, there was one question for the Hufflepuff that kept reoccurring.

"Hey. AngelFyre. D'you mind if I ask you something?" Not waiting for an answer, they continued. "Why did you date Simon so soon after he broke up with Haley? Do you know how much it hurt her to see you and him, when it used to be him and her only days before? It hurt, AngelFyre. You hurt my friend."

Letting the girl reply, Pax turned back to lean out of the window. Whatever her reasoning was, it wouldn't make up for the fact Haley had been left so hurt.
Again, any hostility towards AngelFyre IC is not meant OOC in any way.
