The Slytherins natural stiff posture soften as the others head rested on her shoulder. They slumped and her hand twitched as if to stop herself from comforting the other. Though, by letting her keep her head there was enough to show she cared. “He.. Howard has changed. He’s not how he was before..” Her head turned slightly and lowered to glance down at the other. Her chin would nudge against the top of Aurelias head as yet another Fal way to comfort. “I would offer to accompany you when you both next meet but..” Why was the topic so hard to talk about. Howard had moved on so why couldn’t she? “Well, since I haven’t spoken to him, I can’t imagine the tension between the three of us being great.”

The mentioned of Bloom once more made her blood boil. She was doing so well at keeping her cool, but now she felt it starting to raise, especially with what Aurelia had just told her. “She said what?” With a swift gentle movement, she pulled her shoulder away and faced the other properly now. “The fuck she say tha-..”

The sound of a new voice cut Falentra short. Her head swung over her shoulder and a cold glare was to be her greeting. The tense situation was probably what caused such an expression, but nonetheless she would still have probably given her the cold shoulder. “What?” She asked again, her tone slightly irritated with the thought of Blooms words still lingering on her mind. “Yeah yeah, it’s free.” She replied, finally. Unlike Aurelia, Falentra would not offer the girl a smile. Instead her eyes decided to glance her up and down, and then they took good long look at the book she pulled from her bag. She knew little of Evelynn, but what she did know what was that she was a writer, and writers always loved a good story.

A heavy sigh left Falentra’s mouth and her body would turn back to pitch. She said nothing, but her eyes glanced at Aurelia’s and then down to Evelynn‘s book, clearly trying to tell her to watch what she says now that they have company.

Well, she hadn't exactly been expecting the same sort of fanfare that she had received from some of her tent mates, but Evelynn would be lying if she suggested that the relative lack of responses with the two soon-to-be sixth years didn't put her at least slightly off. Notrésvace had never been a bucket of sunshine and roses, but neither had the two ever really been on particularly poor terms.

Granted, she wasn't entirely surprised to be on the receiving end of Black's cold glare. She'd caught enough of the conversation already to know that the topic was charged and emotional spillage may have been a factor in the less-than-amiable greeting; not to mention Black had always seemed a bit of a rough stone. She had, after all, been White's accomplice with the trashing of the Headliner. Antagonistic exteriors towards strangers seemed to fit the bill.

Still, no outright dismissal had been handed to Evelynn, and the Gryffindor wouldn't be so easily scared away, and the cold glare had been returned at the time with a warmer smile of her own. She was here for the good seating. Not the drama. Although she wouldn't deny being curious for the latter should it present itself..

"I gather you have fully healed?" Evelynn wondered conversationally, glancing briefly over to Aurelia before returning her sights to the pitch. "I heard that you had another visit to the hospital wing not too long ago. It is being called an accident, but I will admit, I found myself wondering about that.."

Much like Bloom did, Falentra would defend on Howard's behalf. He had changed. An excuse she had heard countless and countless times, in fact, she always hoped it was true, that Howard really did change, but every time she was so close to believing so, something else would transpire between them. Due to the new arrival, her voice would lower a few notches to a whisper (whether eve hears is up to u) "And what was he like before to you? How he was to me is drastically different to how he is to you. Not many get to see the more destructive Howard because he never lets it unhinged. I do. And I really wished it was true, that he changed, I really do, but from what I see, from what I've experienced-" She paused as Evelynn interrupted.
for @Evelynn Decipio. The dhampir stood strangely large and magnified from her point of view (owl), the colours were distorted nearly in grayscale and not with the vibrancy of human sight, that one might assume Aurelia colourblind. Fangs barred as the dhampir swung with his claws extended. Pain.

The recollection of the events that led up to her second visit to her hospital was raised at the question, yet it was a lie she provided Evelynn. "An accident, yas." Her eyes narrowed. "Word spreads fast. I'm quite surprised anyone cared about anything else than the hexwizard."

There wasn’t much that came from Falentra this time around. Even after Aurelia gave her side to the story. She had no intention of talking on the matter whilst another was snooping around even if there was no ill intentions.

She gave a quick squint of the eyes as the two would speak, making sure to listen carefully to them even though her attention was focused down at the pitch. Aurelia said Howard had hurt her again, but was it him that put her in hospital? She questioned her own assumptions and glanced down at Aurelia, giving her a raised brow as to whether or not it was a good idea to be talking so openly about this with the other. For now, she seemed to keep the topic with little detail. Aurelia was smart. Falentra didn’t have to worry about that. Evelynn however… she did not know. So she had little to go off on knowing exactly what to watch out for.

Evelynn's pen would scratch against the paper, jarred from her writing in an uncharacteristic manner. Eyes widened, fixing straight down, but not really focusing on the paper upon which she had just been writing. It was like the world had faded for a moment. Darkness had encroached, colour draining from the environment. She could see a figure standing great and massive before her, and every hair on her being stood on end when recognition dawned.

White was a familiar sight to her given his prowess in quidditch and the time she had once spent practicing with the Hufflepuff team when she and Ami were still close. Never had she seen him like this, however. The possibility was there, she knew. The anger and raw almost animalistic hate when he had bombarded the Great Hall and set the pyre to blaze had alighted an instinctual desire for survival within her. She hadn't dared admit to anything at that time for fear of meeting exactly this beast. But for one reason or another she saw it now, clear as though she were living through the moment. The rage. The fangs. The swipe of sharpened claws with a power behind them she would never want to have to experience...

It was over as soon as it had set in, colour and sound coming back to her in waves. A gasping breath filled her lungs, shoulders rising with the motion and lids fluttered with her return to life. She swallowed, attempting to play off the chill that coursed down her spine and sent a spasm of a shiver through her core. Her tongue ran itself across parted lips, focus centred on her breathing to keep herself calm.

What in heavens was that...

Aurelia's words would go relatively unheard in Evelynn's internal focus to rationalize what had just transpired. Even the names of players and observations of their entry onto the pitch went unnoticed and unaddressed in her notes, the pages temporarily abandoned. Try as she might, the prefect was at a total loss for explanation. The only thing she could think of was that this might have been a vision of sorts. Perhaps prophetic. Like the Seers they had learned about in class. Which was... more than a little unsettling. The raging dhampir had been attacking her.. Or... whoever it was from whose perspective she had been viewing. She wasn't exactly sure how visions worked...

One thing she knew for certain. Professor Booth hadn't seen the last of her yet. He could expect a visit from the Gryffindor prefect at the first opportunity she could seize.

Recovering from the ordeal, Evelynn became acutely aware of the sudden shift in her affect, of feeling potential eyes upon her of her seniors. Swallowing, she took one last steadying breath, hand lifting to run manicured fingers up through her hair. "A bit of a spell there, it seems.." she murmured quietly, making use of the same excuse she had with Marshal and Ivy at the ball when Marion's appearance had left her speechless. Fortunately, Aurelia's words would come sluggishly into understanding. "Well... I'm not quite sure how fast it had spread. I only heard since arriving at camp, and my understanding is that this took place quite some time back. I am not even sure if the champions had been selected at that point, had they?"

There was no way Yefim was going to miss this match, not for anything. It was obviously a big deal that he was the Durmstrang champion, yeah, fine, but more importantly, he was a part of a team. Yefim loved getting to show people he had been right all along about his greatness and destiny, but even more than that, he was emphatically proud of being able to pick the people joining him on the team. Most of them were not the people another champion might have chosen-- but what was the point in comparing viewpoints of who had value, and why. Obviously Yefim was right about everything, and the goblet had agreed. Because of that, his tent had him surrounded by people he loved, and people he respected. Many of those people were on the Quidditch team.

Three years ago, he was in the same stadium, except back then he was on the bench as a back-up Chaser. It was one of the worst days of his life, seeing Niffler get shot out of the sky by that horrendous beast. Hogwarts cheated, and not just fun cheating like blatches. They used a huge monster to attack his friend, and a tiny creature to catch the snitch. He was never going to forget that, let alone forgive. Now that their chosen champion was a violent creature itself, he was invigorated with the motivation to overcome the odds. It would start with these summer games, and continue into the Hexwizard tournament. What was starting? Durmstrang domination, of course.

Yefim would tail behind Greta, another former teammate of his that he was fortunate enough to have by his side again. Last year, she was instrumental in helping him win the summer dueling tournament, and now she would no doubt once again prove indispensable beside him in the Hexwizard trials. For now though, that was not the point. Today was all about Quidditch, and honoring those fighting for victory on this battlefield. Their training over the last month would no doubt be useful, but beyond that, he could do nothing but cheer them on. He knew they were powerful and that they deserved the win more than anyone else, but also, he really wanted Hogwarts to lose. It was not the same team from before, nor the same people, but the craving for justice was a ravenous one.

”Arrrooooooooooooooo!” Yefim would lift his face to the sky and belt out the most obnoxious scream he could muster. The more Hogsnots he annoyed, the better. ”Durmstrang! Durmstrang! [Niffler is number one in the world! Niffler is immortal!]”

Jazzed, Yefim would punch his palm a few times, now finishing the distance to Greta, who he did not want to distract as she concentrated on a spell. It was difficult for Yefim to behave in a non-distracting manner, but this would be his attempt today. ”[A beautiful day for renewed glory, isn't it, fishlet?]”

Yefim would beam at her, looking so wound-up that one might imagine him shooting off into the sky like a coiled spring. The rain hit him, but he did wear some protection for his head. If anything it just made his muscle glisten in the light. What was rain to a mighty monument of a man anyway?

A howl in the distance had caught Greta's attention. Sun-bleached braids swayed as she turned her head about in its direction, curious to the source. There was none to be initially found, but that didn't stop the grin from creaking across her face. She would know the tone of that voice anywhere and there was something comforting about the knowledge that their champion was nearby. If anyone had asked her a year ago, she would have balked at the idea of running with the Yefim and the rest.

Not because she wouldn't have wanted to. Quite the contrary. To her, they embodied a sense of self-confidence and ambition that she could only really dream of. How many times had she caught herself wishing she could be as cool and influential as they were? But she could never really bring herself to step away from the side-line. Still couldn't, really, but she was content enough being able to participate in her own way. What were the famous without their fan-base? In a way, she was an important piece of that little fantasy. Even if it was from the wrong side of the line.

And yet, for some reason, Yefim had sought her out for the tournament. When he'd been named champion and offered her a position on the team, she couldn't have stammered out her acceptance any faster except if she had managed to speak it clearly the first time without stumbling over herself however many times she had. It had been like a dream come true, hands clapping themselves against rosy cheeks a half a dozen times as soon as she'd rounded a corner and out of sight to make sure she hadn't been dreaming. Her. Greta. Chosen by the Champion for the Hexwizard team. She would be representing her school, her family. It was an opportunity she never could have hoped for, and he had handed it to her. She would be eternally grateful for that.

"Yefim!" She shouted, waving him over to her when she finally saw him over the other students in the stands, absolutely beaming at the affectionate moniker. "With this rain, the slate it washed clean. Of course Durmstrang will win! Valya seemed hungry this time." With that, she would peer bright-eyed back to the pitch, eagerly awaiting the arrival of their silver niffler to light the way, the beacon for their team. "I just hope Koldovsterotz can keep up," she huffed, lips pursing with a slight frown. Then glancing wide-eyed back to Yefim as though he would provide all the answers. "Have you seen them play before? It seems silly we have to join forces with them. Why don't the Hogsnouts have to do the same? Why are they so special.."

Like a bee on honey Finnegan had been drawn to the buzz of the stadium, packed to the brim with spectators. There was no way he'd miss out on this golden chance to learn more about the wizarding sport that he'd heard so much about but never seen. This was his chance to see if it truly was more exciting than football, which seemed entirely ridiculous to him.

For once he didn't particularly care which team was playing which. How the game was played was far more intriguing to him. He knew flying brooms and a variety of balls and hoops were involved, but that was about the full extent of his knowledge. He wondered if he'd be taught how to fly too, the mere thought made him giddy with joy.

He hadn't bothered to swap his regular, muggle clothes for something more wizard-like, it seemed to be accepted. Besides, he wouldn't want to give up the comfort of his hoodie for one of those silly pointed hats, though he regretted having picked out shorts that morning. Still, a little rain wasn't about to send him cowering for shelter and if he went back to his tent now he was certain he'd never get back in on time. It was hard enough to push his way through the masses in hopes of finding an empty seat as it was.

When he'd broken free from the thick of the crowd streaming into the stadium, he spotted an empty seat next to a red-headed girl and two other witches caught up in conversation between themselves. The redhead seemed distracted and he idly wondered why she'd bothered to come up here if she wasn't going to be watching the game.

But when he got closer he realized there was a little more to it. She looked dazed and murmured something in the direction of the other two witches nearby.

Seizing his chance, Finnegan plopped down on the empty seat and looked down at the pitch. The hoops were easily enough to spot, but the players on their brooms were rather small from this high up. Finnegan slumped in his seat, pulled a chocolate bar from one of his pockets and chewed thoughtfully on his muggle snack while he waited for the game to start. Or had it already started? He really wasn't sure what he was looking at. For a short while he relished in just sitting there, surrounded by a thick, heavy blanket of people and rain, the smell of grass, the buzz of the spectacle.

Inevitably his wide-eyed gaze drifted to the side and landed on the girl next to him. She wasn't even that much taller than him, but definitely a few years older and unmistakably pale.

"Are you on the sick?" he piped up. "Wait..." he rummaged around in his pocket, fished out his last Mars bar and offered it to the girl. "It's chocolate," he added with a hint of concern in his voice. "You don't seem very ciff*, I hope it's not the heights." A hint of a grin tugged at his lips.

A question—voiced from someone far nearer than might have been expected—sent a fresh wave of nerves down Evelynn's back. Her head snapped around, attention pulled from Aurelia to fix itself upon the visage of a boy she hadn't even realized was sitting next to her. That revelation was more than a little disturbing. Jarring, even. She, whose paranoia and environmental awareness generally expanded far beyond the limits of the average student, had been taken completely by surprise. If the colour from her features could drain any farther, she might have been mistaken for a ghost.

In her shock, she didn't immediately reply. Instead, her scrutiny would search this new face, one she did not recognize. Mind infuriatingly sluggish, she attempted to piece together how she had managed to overlook his appearance. It must have been the vision, she could only conclude. Clearly her senses had been overwhelmed to a level that interfered with her ability to perceive her own surroundings. Again, unsettling. She did not particularly relish the possibility that this vision... whatever it had been... might become a reoccurring event, robbing her of her awareness and placing her at the mercy of whatever—or whomever—might take advantage of that lapse in concentration.

"I am fine.." The cautiously uttered words left her tongue with little thought. She regretted it almost immediately after they had. Even if she wasn't technically feeling unwell, it sounded like a knee-jerk reaction dripping with denial. Like bringing attention to oneself when attempting to be discreet.

Frustrated with herself and the moment, and more than a little embarrassed to have been shown concern by a child, Evelynn averted her gaze back to knees. The journal was still open upon them, one hand lying flat against its pages, the contents forgotten and left static for the last few minutes. How many players had entered the field in that time? Lips parted to suck in a steadying breath, her other hand lifting to pinch at the bridge of her nose as though that would somehow stave away the last of the fog clouding her thoughts.

Releasing her breath through loosely pursed lips, she glanced back in the boy's direction. Fortunately for her, he seemed to have occupied himself with hunting through his pockets. Side-eyeing him, she discreetly allowed her gaze to roam his profile, taking stock first of his facial features before drifting to note the cut of his hair, the style and care of his clothing, the posture of his seat, and any other identifying characteristics or features. Any pretence of subtlety was dropped when he pulled free a wrapped snack and offered it to her.

"I can see that.." His explanation that the candy was a chocolate bar was met with an airy chuckle through her nose.

In fact, it was one she recognized quite well from back home. Whoever he was, he seemed kind enough. Although he had a rather curious way of talking. One word in particular left her eyeing him peculiarly, but she gently accepted the chocolate bar anyway. Part of her had warned against it. Her track record with chocolate wasn't exactly the best, and she had subconsciously avoided that particular delight for the last two years. But it was wrapped, and muggle-made, and he seemed innocent. Who was she to decline an offer so pure of heart.

"Thank you.." A gentle gratitude wove its way through the low tone of her appreciation as she turned forward again. "And I should certainly hope it is not the heights," she smiled, straightening and shedding the last of the lingering effects. A hand braced her journal and pen as she shifted in her seat and lifted one leg over the other. The wrapper crinkled as she straightened out one fused end, the pad of her thumb edging back and forth against the seam. "But never mind that. My name is Decipio." She pulled her other hand from her lap and offered it to the boy. "I am to be entering my fourth year at Hogwarts. To whom do I owe this pleasure of acquaintance?"

Finnegan eyed her outstretched hand for a moment and propped himself upright in his seat before he shook it. “All right, I’m Finn, Finnegan Conner but most just call me Finn.”

He kept a steady gaze and seized her up just like she’d been taking the measure of him. She had rather striking eyes and a cautious, distant air about her despite the friendly smile she had presented to him. Despite the paleness of her face she appeared to be fit with a hint of athleticism in the cut of her features.

He let go of her hand, cocked his at her like she was some curious bird and nibbled at his Mars for a bit before he spoke up again. Decipio,” he repeated, almost chewing on the word like he had on his chocolate bar. “Funny old name that.”

He decided not to push the matter and motioned his chin toward the journal she held and smiled faintly. The way she was holding it, it had to be a prized possession. “I’ve never been in someone’s diary before, not that I know of anyway.” He'd never understood how anyone could muster the patience to write about their day. Besides, most days just weren't that interesting.

Soon after he turned away from her, put his chin in the cup of his hands and stared down at the pitch. A soft sigh escaped his lips. Better than football my ass, he thought in the privacy of his mind before he jumped to wondering why there were so many different balls. Maybe the girl can explain the game. She is not really called Decipio is she? he shot a quick, sideways glance at her I hope she doesn’t start throwing up on me.

@Evelynn Decipio OOC note, all the inner thoughts in the last paragraph are open for the plot hook!
