The Depths Below
Justin quite liked coming to the Great Lake. It was calm and peaceful, unlike the school itself. Sure, there were a few monsters here, but they didn’t come out of the water. Besides, he would rather deal with a Giant Squid than everyone in the common room. At least the squid was civilised.
It had just started raining lightly. The sky was still mostly clear, though. He did not really mind the rain much. It was always raining in the North. Summer, Spring, Autumn, Winter. Sunrise over the hills was all propaganda. 99% of the time, it was raining. The other 1% snow.
Here, far away from his traumatic memories of his first time at Hogwarts, was an especially quiet area. Most of the people who came to the lake stayed on the other bank, near the courtside. He rarely ran into anyone here. Those that did come were usually put off by the forest nearby. A completely stupid thing to be scared of, in his opinion. It was miles away, even if it looked closer.
Everybody around him – his parents, old acquaintances - were always telling him to make friends. Especially his parents. They always seemed to have a problem with that. But it really wasn't that simple. Not for him anyway. And he did not particularly care for people much. He was usually perfectly happy alone reading or walking.

The Depths Below
Neptune had needed a place, a quiet place to just unwind and let all of their stress and anxiety out. And how were they going to do that? By painting. So Neptune packed an art bag, grabbing their pencil pouch, a couple of sets of watercolor paints, their watercolor paint book, some paintbrushes, and a couple of bottles of water. Slinging their bag over their shoulder, they left the dorm, walking around on the grounds until they had gotten to a place by the lake.
It was relatively peaceful, with not many people. In fact, there was only one other person here, a boy. Neptune didn't really bother him. They just sat down on a rock, set their bag down, and grabbed what they needed to start making their watercolor painting.
Neptune painted the lake, the rocks, the forest, and after some time, they realized that they had included the boy nearby in their panting. I guess it was something Neptune did unintentionally. Accidentally drawing or painting people in their paintings if they sort of just zoned out and just painted with muscle memory, imagining and using their surroundings as a template in their mind. Neptune had also now realized that it was raining slightly. I mean, not that they minded, they loved the rain.
Neptune flipped a page, getting ready to start another painting of just the lake this time, maybe including the giant squid. Dipping their brush into the blue and stroking the watercolor paint onto the paper, Neptune realized that the color of the paint was dirty and mixed with other colors. They looked at their water, realizing it was murky with all the paint colors.
Grabbing a new bottle of water from their bag, Neptune set it down before taking the dirty water and pouring it out by a tree. Going back to their stuff, they set the bottle down before getting ready to put it back in their bag. Not realizing that they put the bottle in an unsteady place on the rock, the bottle slipped off, the sound of shattering glass filling the air.
Neptune gasped slightly, beginning to try and brush off some of the broken glass on their bag. Bad idea on their part. A small shard cut Neptune's hand, a small stream of blood coming from the cut, and a few streaks of hair turning a silvery grey in pain.
"Ouch! Bad idea, very bad idea." They said before searching for something to stop the bleeding.

Justin was minding his own business, looking over the lake at a small figure just under the surface of the water, when he noticed someone else approaching.
A first year, with a bag slung around their back and bright coloured hair.
Fortunately, whoever it was did not come much closer, and instead threw the bag down near a rock and started vigorously mixing paints.
Since they were not bothering him, he turned away to the lake, which by now was completely clear again.
A few minutes later, looking around through the rain pattering down onto the rocky grounds, he noticed that the other student had now stopped painting and was now looking around for something. Also, their hair was now silver grey for some reason. He was pretty sure that it had not been silver grey the last time he had looked.
Painting in the rain. It sounded beautiful in a song, but in practice a turned out to be rather bad decision. That was a good image. Someone somewhere had probably used that as a simile sometime.
“People get the dumbest ideas sometimes,” he thought to himself, fully noting the complete hypocrisy in that statement.
He was probably going to have to go and help now. He stood up from the boulder he had been sitting on and tramped over.
“Hello,” he said, glancing around. “You’ve gotten yourself into quite a mess.”

Neptune looked up from their spot on the ground, hearing the boy that had also been on the far side of the lake.
“Hello,” he said, glancing around. “You’ve gotten yourself into quite a mess.”
"No I'm doing just perfectly fine on this lovely day." They said sarcastically.
They still continued to search around the area and in their bag to see if they could find something to help stop the bleeding from their hand from the glass cut. Finding nothing, they just decided to give up, looking at the boy to analyze him
The boy was significantly taller than Neptune, making them think that he was in his second or third year. He had a dark brown shade of hair. Finally, the boy had a greyish blue eye color, which contrasted nicely with his hair.
Neptune sighed deciding to speak up again, "Okay a few things, 1)Sorry, that was rude of me. And 2) I suppose I should introduce myself. I'm Neptune Emory, first-year Gryffindor."
Neptune smiled slightly at the boy, their hair still with silvery grey streaks. They decided to look at the cut to see how bad it was. Neptune brought their hand closer up to their face to inspect the cut better.
It wasn't too terrible, and it didn't look like there were any glass shards stuck in their hand. The cut was decent sized, going from the top of their palm to the bottom of their palm in a diagonal line. It wasn't an insanely deep cut, but it might leave a faint scar later. Blood continued to spill from Neptune's had slowly, so almost half of their entire palm was bloody by now.
"Um, I don't suppose you have anything to help with this?" they said, gesturing to their bloody hand.

It was indeed a lovely day. This was quite rare, in his experience, and should be appreciated properly. Sadly, there was not going to be much of that for a while. Who didn’t love sarcasm? Him. He didn’t. Not then. Maybe at a more convenient time. But the ‘right’ times never come. So you’re always stuck with same, dull problems of today. Like this one!
A Gryffindor. Interesting. Apparently, they were doing introductions now. What fun. “Hi, I’m Justin," he replied. “Justin Whiteley, 2nd Year Hufflepuff.” He returned their smile.
That did not look good. No. He had not reason to doubt that supposition, so he decided not to waste time trying. Unfortunately, the school did not provide emergency first aid kits to every single student. A major oversight on their part, in his opinion, considering the vast amount of injuries everyone manages to inflict upon themselves and everyone around them. It would be so much easier for the nurse.
Nevertheless, he pulled his backpack around and started to rummage through it. A very time consuming process, for two important reasons. 1) It was a very large backpack. A very, very large backpack, containing way too many things. 2) He really couldn’t be bothered to tidy it up, so it was extremely difficult to find things, even when he did know what he was looking for.
Books, more books, even more books. There were a lot of books. 29 large potato peelings. Why? An unsolved mystery that would have to wait. Gloves. A bar of chocolate. A pack of cards. A large silk tissue. Where had that come from? He didn’t remember packing 90% of all this. Anyway, it would have to do.
He presented the object. “Don’t ask. Also, you’d better go to someone who actually knows what they’re doing soon.”

Neptune listened as the boy introduced himself as Justin Whitely, a second-year Hufflepuff. Lovely, someone older than them to realize how clumsy they were. They much rather preferred interactions with people they already knew or people who were around their age. Otherwise, Neptune would make it an awkward trainwreck.
After they'd asked for help with their cut, Justin started rifling through his large backpack, looks of confusion passed his face as he continued to rummage through the bag.
After some time, he pulled out a large silk tissue, and handed it to them, “Don’t ask. Also, you’d better go to someone who actually knows what they’re doing soon.” He said.
Neptune gratefully took the silk tissue from his hand before wrapping it around their hand and tieing the tissue in a knot, "Thanks."
They then proceeded to think about his previous statement, realizing their situation. Their hair gained a few streaks of pink, before they asked, "You don't happen to know where someone who knows what they're doing is, do you? I understand there is a hospital wing here, I'm just not exactly sure, being new here and all." They said quietly hoping that Justin had heard them speak.

OOC Note~ I am so sorry for this late reply. I was really unmotivated for a few of my RP's and I'm sort of just getting back into them now. Although, I know that isn't an excuse and I'm sorry.

OOC: No problem. Also, sorry for not responding faster to this.
Justin tried to focus on what the conversation. It was rather difficult, as they were talking rather quietly. Did he know where anyone competent was? Possibly? Also, what was pink for?
Focus. Why was it so hard to do one thing at a time? Hospital Wing. He was reasonably sure that he knew where the hospital wing was, as he had, like nearly everyone at Hogwarts, been unfortunate enough to have visited it several times. That was probably what they had meant. It wasn’t very difficult to find. Then again, Hogwarts did seem quite confusing to him when he’d first arrived.
He was rather surprised that they’d never been to the Hospital Wing before. Maybe this particular situation actually was rare, and not a normal occurrence. Still seemed hard to believe. Then again, they were new.
“The Hospital Wing is on the third floor,” he said. That probably wasn’t enough information to find anything. An entire floor would take quite a long time to look through. “I could take you there if you like.” After all, why not? He hadn’t much else to do here now. And he needed to get back soon anyways. Besides, if he tried to give directions, they’d probably end up hopelessly lost.

Neptune looked back down towards their injured hand, adjusting the silk tissue on their hand, watching as some of the material turned red with their blood.
The pink in Neptune's hair faded as Justin spoke up once again, telling them that the Hospital Wing just so happened to be on the third floor, then proceeding to ask Neptune if they wanted him to lead them there. I mean, he is a Hufflepuff, and the Hufflepuffs are normally quite friendly.
Neptune processed what Justin said before they spoke up again, "Actually, I'd appreciate that a lot. Thank you."
If anything, Neptune was grateful for the help they'd been getting. They barely even knew each other, yet he'd given them something to try and stop the bleeding with, and now he was offering to lead them to the hospital wing, a place that they'd not been to yet this school year.
They got up from where they were, beginning to pack up all of their supplies, pencil pouch, watercolors, glass bottles, and art book, shoving them all into the bag they'd packed with them with their un-injured hand.
They picked up the bag, putting it over their head, like a cross-body bag, except larger. They then nodded to the boy before speaking, "Lead the way."

OOC: Leaving the thread now
Justin looked up at the sky again. It was still raining quite hard. The lake still looked beautiful despite the dark and cloudy sky. He’d never once seen a day where he wasn’t awestruck by this place. If only he could stay here forever, instead of being stuck in the castle all day. The castle was great, but it never could compare to the grounds. OK, that’s enough rambling. He should be leaving soon. He was going to be running late. Again. To be fair, he hadn’t ever expected to be on time. That possibility had never even occurred to him. It was always far more likely that he would be at least 20 minutes too early or late. Besides, there wasn’t anything to actually do. There weren’t any classes on for ages, so he had no important reasons to go in. There always were some reasons, but those could usually be safely ignored.
“You’re welcome. I don’t mind. Like I said, I was just about to leave anyway,” he said brightly. “Wait, did I say that? I did now, I guess, so whatever.” He picked up his bag. It didn’t seem too very wet, which was a relief. Literally everything that he needed was in there. He slung it over his shoulder again.
“Um, let’s go then,” he said hesitantly.
Oh, why must conversation be so difficult?
