Choose the amount you want and press Give on the upper right corner, then you will see the address book. Type my name into the search box, on the upper left. You will see my name box, click on the name and there should be a message part. Put anything you would like to say. After all this, it will appear as Object Given Successfully.

I think you are pressing the Give option in her profile page. But you need to go to your trunk and there you need to give her the potato peelings.
